Object imaging in the water by neural network and multi-element ultrasound transducer (신경회로망과 다소자 초음파 트랜스듀스에 의한 수중물체의 화상화)

  • In this study, a multi-element ultrasound transducer has been developed aiming at basic experiment of three-dimension endovascular ultrasound endscopy for clinical diagnos, and experimental results of two-dimensional object imaging in the water are presented by the ultrasound tranducer and neural network. Each ultrasound echo received by thirty-six angular transducer elements is inputed to the eural network, and then backpropagation is used as a learning algorithm. A three-layer artificial neural network is used for learning and imaging of targetw placed in front of the transducer. The object shape of imaging is restricted to rectangular shapes by considering experimental restraint conditions. As a result, rough visualization can be realized even for objects with unlearned shapes through the training by primitive patterns of a various sized rectangular targets.

  • In this study, the characteristics of ultrasonic sensor fabricated with PZT-Polymer 1-3 type composites are investigated. The 3-D Underwater object recognition using the self-made ultrasonic sensor and SOFM neural network is presented. The ultrasonic sensor is satisfied with the required condition of commercial ultrasonic sensor in underwater. The 3-D underwater object recognition for the training data and the testing data are 100[100%], respectively. The experimental results have shown that the ultrasonic sensor fabricated with PZT-Polymer 1-3 type composites can be applied for sonar system.

  • In this study, characteristics of ultrasonic transducer fabricated with porous piezoelectric resonator are investigated, 3-D underwater object recognition using the self-made ultrasonic transducer and SOFM(Self-Organizing Feature Map) neural network are presented. The self-made transducer was satisfied the required condition of ultrasonic transducer in water, and the recognition rates for the training data and the testing data were 100 and 95.3% respectively. The experimental results have shown that the ultrasonic transducer fabricated with porous piezoelectric resonator could be applied for sonar system.

  • In this study, 3-D underwater object restoration using ultrasonic sensor fabricated with porous PZT-Polymer 3-3 type composite are presented Using the acquired underwater object data $16{\times}16$ pixels, Modified SCL neural networks using the $16{\times}16$ low resolution image was used for underwater object restoration of $32{\times}32$ high resolution image.

  • 수중 트랜스듀서는 진동하는 물체위에 설치되어 다양한 외부 소음원이 유입되는 환경에 노출되어 있다. 외부 소음원으로는 선체 진동. 프로펠러 소음, 그리고 유동 유기 소음들을 들 수 있고, 트랜스듀서의 실제 작동시 이들의 레벨이 상당히 높아서 센서의 정확한 작동에 장애가 되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 외부 소음원에 무관한 고 정밀, 저 소음 특성을 지닌 음향센서를 개발하기 위하여 유한요소법 (FEN)을 사용하여 소음 전달 특성을 분석하고, air pocket과 음향 감쇠층의 다양한 조합으로 이루어진 구조를 개선한 음향센서의 설계 및 내소음성 평가를 하였다. 또한 사용한 음향 감쇠층의 최적 물성을 제시하고자 한다. 그 결과 센서 측면 하단부에 소음원이 위치할 경우 가장 큰 잡음 신호로 작용하며, 구조를 변경한 결과 기존 음향센서에 비해 55% 이상 내 소음성을 증진 시켰다. 그리고 음향 감쇠층의 최적 음향 임피던슨는 1 Mrayl 이하 혹은 4mrayl 이상으로 분석되었다.

  • A superhydrophobic surface means that the contact angle between the solid surface and a water droplet is more than $150^{\circ}$. Materials with a superhydrophobic surface have a self-cleaning function because of the Lotus effect, in which water is not absorbed by the material but rolls off of it. If such a Lotus effect can be applied to the surface of underwater vessels, submarines, torpedos, and so on, enhanced vessels can be made based on this lubricant effect reducing the friction coefficient for the liquid. Because polymer composites can be easily applied in various nanotechniques, they are more advantageous than conventional materials like iron in terms of a superhydrophobic surface. Furthermore, a superhydrophobic surface bring enhanced anticorrosion and ecotechnology because no paint is needed on underwater vessels.

  • A hit-miss transform(HMT) using synthetic structuring elements(SE's) for optical recognition of a moving target is proposed. A moving target which was obtained from a fixed view point has objects. In proposed HMT, SE's are synthesized by using SDF(synthetic discriminant function) algorithm for efficient recognitionof various shapes of true class objects in noisy and cluttered scene. The synthetic hit SE and the synthetic miss SE are composed of SDF of hit SE's and miss SE's for each true class object. Simulation results show the proposed method can be used for the recognition of various shapes of the true class with one one HMT operation.

  • In this study, Efficiency estimation of ultrasonic sensor fabricated with porous piezoelectric resonator by experiment of 3-D underwater object recognition are presented. The sensor was satisfied with requirement of ultrasonic sensor. The recognition rates for the fixed objects and the translation-rotation objects are 95.3 and 92.7[%], respectively using porous piezoelectric ultrasonic sensor and SOFM neural network. According to the experimental results, It is believed that the self-made ultrasonic sensor can be applied as underwater ultrasonic sensor.

  • Although the ocean observation and exploration equipment is necessary for the oceanographical observation and strengthening influence of the nation and the resource preemption, it depended on the oversees adoption rather than the domestic development. The MBESs were developed for seabed topography, sedimentary distribution information and underwater objects exploration, but there is no domestic production. So in this research we try the localization of the marine acoustic sounder. Especially about correcting the error occurred on the hardware, we confirmed it on software.

  • Detection and classification of undersea mines in shallow waters using active sonar returns is a difficult task due to complexity of underwater environment. Support vector machine(SVM) is a binary classifier that is well known to provide a global optimum solution. In this paper, classification experiments of sonar returns from mine-like objects and non-mine-like objects are carried out using the SVM, and classification performance is analyzed and presented with discussions depending on parameter values of SVM kernel functions.
