Effect of Salviae Radix on renal tubular reabsorption in rabbits with mercury-induced acute renal failure (수은으로 유발된 토끼의 신장 기능 손상에 대한 단삼(丹參)의 효과)

  • 독성약물에 의한 급성신부전시 세뇨관세포의 물질 재흡수 장애에 대한 단삼(丹參) 추출액의 효과를 조사하였다. 토끼에 수은(HgCl2)을 10 mg/kg되게 피하 주사하여 급성신부전을 유발하였고, 단삼(丹參) 추출액의 효과는 수은을 주사하기 전 7일 동안 0.05% 액(液) 0.3 g/kg 용량을 경구 투여하여 관찰하였다. 수은을 주사하기 전 24시간 동안 요와 혈액을 채취하여 신장기능을 측정하여 대조기간(basal period)의 값으로 하였고, 수은을 주사한 후 24시간 동안 요와 혈액을 얻어 수은에 의한 신장기능 변화를 평가하였다. 수은을 처리한 후 사구체여과율이 대조값에 비해 감소하였고, 혈청내 creatinine 농도가 증가하였다. 이러한 결과들은 수은이 급성신부전을 유발하였음을 가리킨다. 수은을 처리한 동물에서 포도당 및 인산의 배설분율이 증가하였고, 이러한 변화는 brush-border membrane에서 물질의 이동장애와 Na-pump 활성의 감소에 기인하였다. 수은을 주사한 동물의 신장피질 절편에서 유기이온인 PAH와 TEA 이동이 억제되었다. 토끼의 신장조직에서 지질의 과산화가 수은을 주사한 후 증가하였다. 단삼(丹參) 추출액을 전 처리한 후 수은을 주사한 경우 수은에 의해 유발된 사구체여과율의 감소와 혈청내 creatinine 농도 증가 현상이 유의하게 완화되었다. 수은에 의한 세뇨관에서 물질의 재흡수 장애가 단삼(丹參) 추출액의 전처리에 의해 방지되었다. 단삼(丹參) 추출액은 수은에 의한 지질의 과산화를 억제하였다. 수은에 의한 급성신부전은 항산화제로 잘 알려진 DPPD에 의해 방지되었다. 이상의 결과를 종합하면 생체실험결과 수은에 의한 급성신부전의 유발과정에 지질의 과산화가 중요한 역할을 할 가능성을 보이고 있고, 단삼(丹參) 추출액은 수은에 의한 급성신부전을 방지하는 효과를 가지고 있으며, 그 효과는 단삼(丹參)의 항산화작용에 기인(起因)할 가능성이 많다.

Changes in the Mercury Content of Some Foods during the Washing and Cooking Processes (쌀, 콩나물, 물고기의 수세(水洗) 및 조리(調理)중 수은(水銀) 함량의 변화)

  • This study was carried out to estimate the change of Hg content in contaminated food materials including rice grain, soybean sprouts and crucian carp during their washing and cooking processes. The residue level of Hg in contaminated rice at 1 ppm level was decreased to the extent of 24% by three-times washing whereas it was not decreased in cooking. The removal efficiency of Hg in soybean sprouts contaminated at 80 ppm level was about 26% in three-times washing. While the Hg content was not decreased in blanching or cooking of soybean sprouts as a whole, the extent of leached Hg into the fluid part varied in the range of 23-41% depending on the heating time, salinity and volume of cooking water. While the Hg content in fish contaminated at 1 ppm level was not decreased in cooking as a whole, the leaching ratio of Hg into the fluid part was in the range of 2-10% depending on the salinity of cooking water. Disposal of inedible portion in cooked fish could remove 32% of contaminated Hg residue.

  • Mercury amount in vapor phase from 3 types of CFL(compact fluorescent lamp) are estimated by measuring mercury concentration in vapor phase. The mercury concentration in vapor phase from CFL is sharply decreased during initial time and then the change in the mercury concentration is slightly decreased up to 24 hours. The mercury concentration in vapor phase is almost constant after 42 hours, which can be called by stabilized concentration. It can be estimated that the stabilized concentration is caused by the evaporation of mercury in the residues of broken CFL and can be affected by temperature and pressure in crushing apparatus. The mercury concentration for CFL manufactures are in the order of A < B < C as the same results of the initial mercury concentration and the stabilized concentration in vapor phase. As increased air flow rate, the partial pressure of mercury is decreased and the amount of mercury is reduced. Initially, the mercury concentration in vapor phase emitted from CFLs is higher than the regulatory level of $0.1mg/m^3$ in the specific facilities regardless of air flow rate. Hence, it is absolutely necessary that mercury in vapor phase should be controlled at the point of crushing campact fluorescent lamp.

  • In Korea, not much interest has been paid yet to mercury among flue gas HAPs (Hazardous Air Pollutants), but mercury is expected to become a major problem in the near future. The present paper investigates the current state of mercury emission and control technologies. Interest of the U.S. and European countries in the area of air pollution has been recently directed to mercury emitted from power plants. There are largely two mercury removal technologies applied to power plants. One is removing mercury by oxidizing elemental mercury in WFGD (Wet Flue Gas Desulfurization), and the other is spraying an adsorbent such as activated carbon or other novel sorbents (low-cost sorbents). Developed country is requiring that all power plants be equipped with mercury control facilities by 2007. This paper aims at contributing to the establishment of future strategies in response to the problem.

Localization and Accumulated Concentration Changes of Mercury Compound in Reproductive Organs of Female Mice with Time (암컷 마우스 생식기관 내 수은 화합물의 위치와 시간에 따른 축적된 수은 농도 변화)

  • This study was performed to investigate the localization and concentration changes of mercury compound in female reproductive organs with time. Methylmercuric chloride was subcutaneously injected weekly into pubescent female mice for 3 weeks. For the concentration changes of mercury with time, the mice were sacrificed at 10, 150, and 300 days post treatment (DPT). Body and organ weights were not significantly different between the control and mercury-treated groups, except for 10 DPT in body weight. Localization of accumulated mercury was identified by the autometallography method. Localization of mercury compounds in the uterus, ovary, and ovum was analyzed with a light microscope. In the uterus, mercury was densely located in the stroma cells and surface epithelium of the perimetrium at 10 DPT. Mercury concentration was decreased at 150 DPT and did not appear at 300 DPT. In the ovary, mercury particles were distributed in the stroma cells of the cortex region, cells of the theca around the follicle, and the corpus luteum at 10 DPT. Mercury was concentrated in the medulla region at 150 DPT and was not distributed at 300 DPT. In the ovum, mercury particles were mainly located in the marginal region at 10 and 150 DPT. Mercury concentration was decreased and evenly distributed at 300 DPT. These results suggest that hormone synthesis, implantation, and developing embryos will be affected by mercury compound in the female mouse.

Changes in the Concentration and Localization of Accumulated Mercury in Kidney, Liver, and Spleen of Mice over Time (생쥐 신장, 간, 비장 내 시간에 따른 수은 농도 변화와 수은 화합물의 위치)

  • This study investigated the localization and changes in the concentration of injected mercury in the kidney, liver, and spleen of mice. To evaluate changes in the concentration of mercury over time, the mice were euthanized 10, 150, and 300 days post-treatment. Localization of accumulated mercury was identified by the autometallography method. Mercury was densely located in the supranuclear cytoplasm of epithelial cells of proximal tubules of the kidney but was not detected in the glomerulus 10 days post-treatment. In the liver, mercury was mainly found in hepatocytes around the portal vein and in sinusoidal Kupffer cells 10 days post-treatment. Mercury was scattered throughout both white and red pulp of the spleen 10 days post-treatment. In terms of changes in the concentration of mercury, the levels were lower in the renal cortex and medulla 150 and 300 days post-treatment as compared with those 10 days post-treatment. Mercury was found at low concentrations in liver hepatocytes 150 and 300 days post-treatment. The mercury concentration was also low in both the white and red pulp of the spleen 150 and 300 days post-treatment. Therefore, the concentrations of accumulated mercury in the kidney, liver, and spleen 150 and 300 days post-treatment were lower than those 10 days post-treatment. We identified the localization of mercury in cells and tissues of several organs and observed that accumulated mercury in organs decreased naturally over time.

  • This experiment was studied to obtain basic environmental effects and biological information on the early growth of larval mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis). Mitten crabs were maintained for each larval stage with solutions containing 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 ppm of cadmium (Cd) and mercury (Hg). The relationship between survival rate of mitten crabs and metal content in the growth chamber showed a positive correlations. However, it showed a significant difference in the 96 $hr- LC^{50}$ values of Cd and Hg for the E. sinensis larvae from the first zoea larva to juvenile. Hg was more toxic to E. sinensis larval than Cd. When Cd and Hg are released into the water, they enter E. sinensis larval and are biological magnified. These results of survival rate and bioaccumulation are very important when considering the survival of the mitten crab.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 스펙트럼의 재흡수를 이용하여, 수은-아르곤 방전중의 63P 여기원자 농도를 결정하는 데 있다. 먼저, 평면거울을 사용한 경우의 재흡수 이론을 전개한 다음, 이를 수은-아르곤 방전에 적용시켜, 복잡한 미세구조를 갖는 수은의 visible-triplet lines에 있어서의 스펙트럼의 흡수계수와 측정된 흡수율사이의 수치적 관계를 구하였다. 이와함께, 흡수계수와 흡수원자농도사이의 관계를 이용하여, 방전관의 관벽온도를 변화시킨 경우와 방전전류를 변화시킨 경우에 있어서, 측정 흡수율에 상응하는 수은의 63P 여기원자 농도를 구하였고 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. ⅰ) 측정범위내에서 준안정원자의 농도는 63P1 상태의 농도보다 높다. ⅱ) 방전전류를 증가시킴에 따라 435.8[nm]의 재흡수가 급격히 증가하고, 그 결과 63P1 여기상태의 농도는 준안정원자에 비해 상대적으로 높은 증가속도를 보인다. ⅲ) 방전전류 증가시 준안정원자와 전자사이의 충돌이 빈번해져서 준안정원자의 증가속도가 둔화하는 대신 축적여기 또는 전리의 확률이 높아진다.

고밀집 섬유집합체에 의해 유도된 모세관현상을 이용한 순환식 수은전극 전해계의 개발과 그 특성 연구

  • 본 연구에서는 고밀집 섬유다발체 내에 수은과 금속이온을 함유한 수용액을 동시에 주입시켜 최소 공간에서 최대한의 수은전극 면적을 갖는 수직형 순환식 수은 모세관 다발체 전극 전해반응 장치가 개발되었다. 이장치의 특성과 안정성을 평가하기 위해 수은과 수용액의 유량 변화에 따른 철(III)과 우라늄(IV)이온의 환원 voltammogram 이 측정되었다. 본 연구에서 개발된 수직형 순환식 수은 모세관 다발체 전극 전해계는 정확히 제어되는 수용액 유량조건에서 수용액내의 금속이온의 산화수 상태 및 농도의 연속적인 분석 및 전해반응 기구 해석에 효과적으로 사용될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.
