Study on Characteristic of Self-preservation Effect of CO2 Hydrate according to Temperature, Particle Diameter and Shape (온도, 직경, 형태에 따른 CO2 하이드레이트의 자기보존효과 특성 연구)

  • Gas hydrate studies are attracting attention of many researchers as an innovative, economic and environmentally friendly technology when it is applied to $CO_2$ capture, transport, and storage. In this study, we investigated whether $CO_2$ hydrate shows the self-preservation effect or not, that is the key property for developing a novel $CO_2$ transport/storage method. Especially the degree of self-preservation effect for $CO_2$ hydrate was studied according to the particle size of $CO_2$ hydrate samples. We prepared three kinds of $CO_2$ hydrate samples varying their particle diameter as millimeter, micron and nano size and measured their change of weight at $-15{\sim}-30^{\circ}C$ under atmospheric pressure during 3 weeks. According to our experimental result, the lower temperature, larger particle size, and compact structure for higher density are the better conditions for obtaining self-preservation effect.

  • 초전도체의 임계온도를 높이는 연구들이 수행되어 임계온도가 액체질소의 비등점(77K)보다 높은 산화물 고온 초전도체가 1986년에 발견되었고, 최근에는 $10^4A/cm^2$이상의 임계전류밀도를 갖는 덩어리형 고온 초전도체가 용융공정을 통해 개발되었으며, 산화물 고온 초전도체 $YBa_2 Cu_3 O_{7-y}$은 산소 조성이 7에 가까우며 임계온도가 95K로서 현재 가장 많이 사용되고 있다. 응용 분야로서는 수송분야, 의료분야, 전력분야, 그리고 기초과학분야등이 있고, 향후 상온 초전도체의 출현으로 인한 응용범위의 확대는 획기적일 것으로 예측되어 진다. 이중에 10$^{-8}$이하의 마찰계수를 갖는 초전도 마그네틱 베어링을 플라이휠 같은 에너지 저장장치에 적용시키는 연구가 국내외적으로 진행되고 있다. 여러 선진국에서는 용융공정된 초전도체를 이용하여 실험단계적인 플라이휠의 설계, 제작 및 성능실험을 진행중이거나 완성하였고, 제2단계 목표로서 실용화를 위한 대규모 플라이휠의 설계와 제작에 대한 연구가 진행중이다.

Mg-Zn-Sn합금의 열처리에 따른 기계적 특성 평가

  • 최근 세계적으로 환경 규제가 강화되면서 수송기계 산업 등의 경량화 소재 개발이 관심을 모으고 있다. 특히 금속재료 중 밀도가 낮고, 비강도 기계적 가공성이 우수한 마그네슘은 경량소재로써 많은 각광을 받고 있다. 그러나 상업적으로 널리 사용되는 Mg-Al계 합금은 $Mg_{17}Al_{12}$상이 형성되어 고온 기계적 특성이 저하된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 마그네슘의 강도 개선을 위한 원소로써 고용강화 원소로 많이 쓰이는 Zn와 고온에서 안정한 $Mg_2Sn$이 형성되는 Sn을 첨가한 Mg-Zn-Sn합금을 선택하여 시효온도에 따른 기계적 특성과 석출물을 관찰하였다. 실험 이전에 열역학적 분석을 바탕으로 Mg-Zn-Sn합금의 Zn함량 변화에 따른 상태도 계산 및 석출량 변화와 석출온도를 도출하였다. 도출된 석출온도를 바탕으로 Mg-Zn-Sn합금을 용체화 처리하고 시효시간에 따른 경도 변화와 미세구조를 관찰하였다. 또한 기계적 특성을 평가하기 위해 인장시험을 실시하였고 XRD, 주사전자현미경을 이용하여 석출상을 확인하였다.

  • Temperature-dependent current-voltage characteristics of Organic Light-Emitting Diodes(OLEDs) were studied. The OLEDs were based on the molecular compounds, N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(3- methylrhenyi)-1,1'-diphenyl-4,4'-diamine (TPD) as a hole transport and tris(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum(Alq3) as an electron transport and emissive material. The current-voltage characteristics were measured in the temperature range of 10[K] and 300[K]. A conduction mechanism in OLEDs was interpreted in terms of tunneling and trap-filled limited current.

  • A project is being implemented to develop the long distance energy transport technology using the chemical reactions. This project can be classified into three main research categories covering heat recovery reaction, long distance energy transport, and heat generation reaction. In this study, the methanol is selected as a system material since it shows several unique superior characteristics as follows: gaseous state of reactant and product, large heat of reaction, high yields of reaction at relatively low temperature, and also steady and economical supply. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the outcomes of this study can be widely applied to the related industries. A feasibility study was carried out to evaluate the economics of this technology which study was based on the following case: 10,000 households, 15km distance energy transportation, utilization of waste heat from power plant.

In Vitro Development and Survival Following Cryopreservation of Bovine Embryos according to Ovary Transport Temperature (난소 수송 온도에 따른 소 체외 수정란의 발육 및 동결-융해 후의 생존성)

  • The present study was carried out to investigate in vitro development and post-thawed survivability of bovine embryos according to different ovary transport temperatures. Bovine ovaries were collected at a local slaughterhouse and were transported at 4 different temperature categories to laboratory: $7{\sim}10^{\circ}C\;(T1),\;11{\sim}17^{\circ}C\;(T2),\;18{\sim}25^{\circ}C\;(T3)$ and above $26^{\circ}C$ (control group). The cumulus-oocyte-complexes aspirated from ovaries were in vitro matured, fertilized and cultured. The rates of maturation (to metaphase II), cleavage and development to blastocysts were compared among treatment groups. Furthermore, frozen-thawed blastocysts were in vitro cultured to compare the survivability among groups. The maturation rates in the T1, T2 and T3 groups ($60.0{\sim}68.2%$) were significantly lower than that in the control group (81.8%, p<0.05). The cleavage rates in the T1 and T2 groups (52.6 and 54.5%) were significantly lower than that in the control group (83.6%, p<0.05). However, there was no difference in the development rate to blastocysts among all groups ($27.9{\sim}33.0%$, p>0.05). The survivability of frozen-thawed embryos was significantly lower in the T1 group (46.2%) than those in the T2, T3 and control groups ($68.8{\sim}7.13%$, p<0.05). In conclusion, the results suggest that ovary transport temperature at $26^{\circ}C$ may be optimal for the better in vitro development and the survival of frozen-thawed embryos produced in vitro Furthermore, exposure of ovary to temperature below $10^{\circ}C$ during transport may significantly decrease both in vitro development and survivability of frozen-thawed blastocysts.

Crystal growth and transport current properties of cylindrical (YSmNd)-Ba-Cu-O superconductors by zone melt growth method (존멜팅법을 이용한 원통형 (YSmNd)-Ba-Cu-O계 초전도체의 결정성장 및 수송 전류 특성)

  • $(YSmNd)_{1.8}Ba_{2.4}Cu_{3.4}O_{7-x}$ [(YSN)1.8] high $T_c$ superconductor was directionally grown by zone melt growth process, in air atmosphere. In this study, optimum melting temperature and growth rate were $1100^{\circ}C$ and 3.5 mm/hr, respectively. The microstructure of well-textured (YSN)1.8 samples were examined by XRD, optical microscopy, TEM and SQUID magnetometer. The critical current density of these samples were measured by the direct transporting current method. In the observation using an optical microscopy, nonsuperconducting $(YSmNd)_2BaCuO_5$[(YSN)211] inclusions of (YSN)1.8 superconductor uniformly distributed within the superconducting (YSmNd)$Ba_2Cu_3O_x$[(YSN)123] matrix. The directionally melt-textured (YSN)1.8 superconductor showed an onset $T_c{\geq}90\;K$ and sharp superconducting transition. The transport $J_c$ values were 830 A and $3.93{\times}10^4$ (A/$cm^2$) at 77 K self-field, respectively.

ITO/PEDOT:PSS/PVK/PFO-poss/LiF/Al의 다층구조를 갖는 유기 발광다이오드의 열처리 효과

  • ITO(indium tin oxide)/glass 기판 위에 PEDOT:PSS[poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate)]와 PVK[poly(N-vinyl carbazole)] 고분자 물질을 정공 주입 및 수송층으로, 발광층으로 PFO-poss[Poly(9,9-dioctylfluorenyl-2,7-diyl) end capped with POSS]를 사용하여 스핀코팅법과 열 증착법으로 ITO/PEDOT:PSS/PVK/PFO-poss/LiF/Al 구조의 고분자 발광 다이오드를 제작하였다. PFO-poss 유기발광 층의 열처리 조건 (온도, 시간)이 PLED 소자의 전기적, 광학적 특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 1 wt%의 농도를 갖는 PFO-poss 유기물 발광 층을 200C 온도로 3시간 열처리 할 경우 11 V 인가전압에서 $1497\;cd/m^2$의 최대 휘도를 나타내었다. 동일온도에서 열처리 시간을 1시간에서 3시간으로 증가시킬 경우 휘도의 증가와 함께 발광 개시온도가 감소하는 경향을 보여주었다. 또한 열처리 온도와 시간을 증가시킬 경우 제2발광피크인 excimer 피크가 크게 나타났으며 청색에서 황색 발광 쪽으로 천이되는 경향을 나타내었다.

Vertical Buoyant Jet in Tidal Water -Crossflowing Environment- (흐름 수역(水域)에서 연직상향부력(鉛直上向浮力)?)

  • A plane buoyant jet discharged vertically upward into a crossflow is analyzed by numerical solution of the governing equations of continuity, momentum and constituent transport. The turbulent transport is modelled by the Prandtl's mixing length theory. In the numerical solution procedure, the governing equations are transformed by stream function and vorticity transport, non-dimensionalyzed by discharge velocity, slot width, and parameters representing flow characteristics, and solved by Gauss-Seidel iteration method with successive underrelaxation. The numerical experiments were performed for the region of established flow of buoyant jet in the range of discharge densimetric Froude number of 4 to 32 and in the range of velocity ratio of 8 to 15, which is the ratio of discharge velocity to crossflow velocity. Variations of velocities and temperatures, flow patterns and vorticity patterns of receiving water due to buoyant jet were investigated. Also investigated are the effects of velocity ratio and discharge densimetric Froude number on the trajectories of buoyant jet. Computed are velocities, temperatures and local densimetric Froude numbers along the trajectory of the buoyant jet. Spreading rate and dispersion ratio were analyzed in terms of discharge densimetric Froude number, local densimetric Froude number and distance from the source along the jet trajectory. It was noted that the similarity law holds in both the profiles of velocity and temperatures across the jet trajectory and the integral type analysis of Gaussian distribution is applicable.

Freshness Prolongation of Crisphead Lettuce by Vacuum Cooling (진공예냉처리에 의한 양상치의 선도 연장)

  • The improvement of distribution system and freshness prolongation of crisphead lettuce were carried out through vacuum cooling and distribution under the low temperature. Lettuce that vacuum-cooled and transported by cold storage car was shown better freshness than that distributed by conventional method when they arrived at cunsuming area. And it took $10{\sim}17$ hours until their temperatures arrived at same temperatures when they were stored at $0{\sim}15^{\circ}C$ cold storage room. It was cooled to $1^{\circ}C$ after 27 minutes with vacuum cooling apparatus. The weight loss of lettuce that vacuum cooled and transported by cold storage car was below 5% after 30 days cold storage. And ascorbic acid and chlorophyll retentions were 86% and 52%, respectively. The shelf-life of crisphead lettuce, distributed by vacuum cooling and cold storage car transportation, was 5 days at $15^{\circ}C$ and over 40 days at $0^{\circ}C$, respectively. However, when it was distributed by conventional method, it was only 3 days at $15^{\circ}C$ and 20 days at $0^{\circ}C$, respectively.
