  • Companies are facing challenges to have high competitiveness because of continuous oil price rising and CO2 emissions regulations. Thus, companies are trying hard to construct effective logistics and operation system to achieve high customer service quality and saving cost. Also the ec-friendly idustrial complex is needed. Busan is in process to construct GILC(Global Industry Logistics City) in west Busan province to achieve high competitiveness and support lack of industrial complex. To construct this kind of logistics industrial complex, it needs logistics system through proper policy and freight transportation co-operation. Especially, efficient management through logistics hierarchy construction in industrial complex is very important for low cost and eco-friendly point of view. Therefore, this paper aims to analyze logistics system and suggest operation model to present logistics complex construction base data.

Estimation of the Elasticity of Energy Demand and Performance of the Second Energy Tax Reform in Korea (수요탄력성 추정을 통한 2차 에너지 세제개편의 성과평가)

  • The goal of this study is to analyze the effects of the second energy tax reform of the transportation sector in Korea. For this purpose, we estimated the elasticities of energy demand(for gasoline, diesel and LPG) by using the ARDL(Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag) Model during the period of 1997 and 2005. We have the empirical results that the demand for diesel would decrease as much as of 382 million barrel per year and the demand for LPG would increase as much as of 20 million barrel per year since 2007. The second energy tax reform would also result in the decrease of 27,346 ton of air pollutants and 0.96 million ton of carbon dioxide per year. This shows that the second energy tax reform would have achieved its own policy goals by reducing energy demand and improving the quality of environment.

  • Recently, various studies regarding introduction of RFID have been implemented in many industries including logistics field. The objective of this study are (i) to analyze an economical effect due to the introduction of RFID on ULS(Unit Load System) Pallet, (ii) to develop a model to estimate cost of RFID introduction, and (iii) to establish a foundation for activating introduction of RFID to the logistics field in order to increase efficiency. This study utilized data regarding fifty logistics companies' awareness of RFID usage. The result of the economical analysis showed B/C of 2.766 and NPV of 2.6 billion won, which implies significant benefit to the logistics industry. This study is meaningful in that it is the first study to quantitatively estimate the effect of RFID introduction on ULS pallet in Korea.

  • The behavior of a plane buoyant jet discharged vertically upward into a stagnant uniform environment is analyzed by continuity, momentum transport equation by numerical scheme. The governing equations are solved by finite difference method employing stream function and vorticity transport and Prandtl's turbulent model. Results for centerline velocities and temperatures, temperature distribution and flow pattern in receiving environment due to buoyant jet in the range of discharge densimetric Froude number of 4 to 32 show good agreement with published data. Spreading rate and dispersion ratio, which are required in integral type analysis of whole range of buoyant jet and have not been obtained yet, are derived in terms of discharge densimetric Froude number and vertical distance from source.

  • 1960년대 이후 경제규명의 괄목할 만한 성장과 생산규모가 확대되어 비용 최소화를 통한 물류분 야의 근대화가 핵심적인 문제로 대두됨에도 불구하고 체계적이며 효율적인 물류체계의 부재로 인한 물 류비의 상승은 산업경쟁력을 약화시켜 물가상승등의 경제불안을 초래하고 있다. 또 가중되는 도시내 교 통혼잡과 최근들어 시행되고 잇는 도시내 화물차량에 대한 각종 규제로 물류비중 수송비의 비증은 지속 적으로 증가되고 있는 실정이다. 이에 따라 사회적으로 물류비를 절감시킬수 있는 물류시설에 관한 관 심이 고조되고 있으며 국가나 지방자치 단체 차원에서도 지역간의 물류거점으로서의 유통단지나 복합화 물터미널 등에 대한 필요성이 강조되고 있는 실정이다. 그러나 이러한 지역간 물류거점으로서 체계뿐만 아니라 도시내에서의 물류활동 즉 도시내에 위치한 최종소비자를 대상으로한 수·배송은 도시교통문제 와 물류서비스를 최종적으로 실행과 직결되어 있다는 점에서 매우 중요한 의미를 갖는다. 따라서 본연 구에서는 도시내 물류거점 시설인 배송센타를 대상으로 배송센타 1일 가동시 총물류비용 모형을 도출하 여 1일 총물류비용을 최소화 할 수 있는 배송센터 최적수 결정 모의 실험 모형을 구성하였다. 이와 병 행하여 최근 들어 대형화물차량에 대한 도심진입규제 통행제한 등 각종 화물차량 규제로 인하여 배송행 태 변화에 따른 사례를 상정하여 민간 차원에서 규제후 변화된 물류비의 변화정도와 그비용을 감소시킬 수 있는 방안의 검토를 시행하였다.

  • This study addresses how to plan purchasing and leasing of containers to satisfy the demand on containers. The problem can be further decomposed into the long-term planning and the short-term scheduling. The long-term plan specifies the composition of owned containers, long-term leasing containers, and short-term containers. The short-term plan considers the seasonality of demand and determines the time of leasing and the amount of the short-term and the long-term leasing containers. The length of the planning horizon is 10-20 years for the long-term planning, while it is one year for the short-term planning. The time unit is one year for the long-term planning, while it is one month for the short-term planning. This study discusses how to estimate the demand of containers and proposes deterministic models for scheduling purchasing and leasing of containers.

A Mathematical Model for Strategic Decision Making in Two Level Supply Chain Network Design (2단계 공급사슬 네트워크에서 전략적 의사결정을 위한 수리적 모형)

  • This study deals with a strategic decision making in two level supply chain network design. This study presents more realistic mathematical model than the previous studies by considering simultaneous location of plants and distribution centers, determination of capacity level for both plants and distribution centers, and upper limit condition for numbers of locating plants and distribution centers. This paper tries to help the strategic decision making for two level supply chain network design. For this purpose, three different sized numerical examples are generated and optimal solutions are obtained by applying Excel Solver program. And sensitivity analysis is performed for the biggest sized example problem, which has 10 potential plants, 20 potential distribution centers, and 200 customer zones. After the plants being located are fixed, optimal minimum costs are obtained and compared for each of 7 different numbers of distribution centers to be located. As the number of distribution centers increases, changes in inbound transportation cost and outbound transportation cost can be derived. In case of considering cost as well as customer satisfaction level for two level supply chain network design, the analysis of this changes may help more sophisticated decision making.

  • Shipping companies earn profits through cargo transportation, and therefore, investment decisions to purchase ships are more important than anything else. Nevertheless, the cash flow discount method was mainly used in the economic analysis method, which assumes that all situations are static. This study shows that the real option model is useful in the economic analysis of ship investment. This economic analysis took into account the irreversibility of investment and uncertainty of benefits. In particular, this study used a binary option price determination model among real options. In addition, the simulation was conducted using actual investment data of A shipping company. As a result of the analysis, the investment value of used ships according to the net present value method was analyzed as negative (-), but the investment value in the real option model reflecting the flexibility of decision-making was evaluated as having positive (+) economic feasibility. It was analyzed that economic feasibility is affected by profit volatility and discount rate. Therefore, this study is expected to help shipping companies make more flexible decisions by using the real option model along with the existing net present value method when making ship investment decisions.

Guideline of Exclusive Bus and/or Truck Lane by FREFLO and INTEGRATION Models (FREFLO와 INTEGRATION 모형을 이용한 버스/트럭 전용차로 설치기준에 관한 연구)

  • This study Presents an guideline of the exclusive bus and/or truck lane on 8 lanes freeways using FREFLO model and INTEGRATiON model. Four alternatives : do nothing, bus exclusive lane, truck exclusive lane, bus and truck exclusive lane, were evaluated using average daily vehicle travel time as measures of effectiveness. It is found that bus and truck exclusive lane is the most effective alternative reducing total travel time by 7% when ADT is below 80,000 vehicle/day. However, when ADT is above 80,000 vehicle/day and bus Proportion is above 12%, bus exclusive lane is the most effective alternative reducing total travel time by more than 5.6%. It is further found that INTEGRATION, the stochastic and microscopic model, is more sensitive than FREFLO, the deterministic and macroscopic model, in evaluating the effectiveness of four alternatives.

  • 2-D transport model based on a discrete probability distribution for a particle displacement was developed too solve advection-diffusion problems in natural stream. In this proposed model, the probabilities expressed as an average and variance function were used to predict the mass transfer between cells in one time step. The proposed model produces solutions without numerical dispersion for constant velocity, diffusion coefficient, and cross-sectional area. When the stability and positivity restrictions were satisfied, the model produced excellent results compared to analytical solutions and other finite difference methods. The proposed model is tested against the dispersion data collected in the Grand River, Canada. The simulation results show that the proposed model can properly describe the two-dimensional mixing phenomena in the natural stream.
