Improving Reproducibility of Coercivity of HDDR-treated Nd-Fe-B-type Material by Controlling Hydrogen Decrepitation (수소파쇄 제어를 통한 HDDR 처리한 Nd-Fe-B계 재료의 보자력 재현성 향상)

  • Practical difficulty in the HDDR (hydrogenation - disproportionation - desorption - recombination) processing of Nd-Fe-B-type alloy is a poor reproducibility of coercivity of the HDDR-treated material. In an attempt to improve the reproducibility of coercivity of the HDDR-treated $Nd_{12.5}Fe_{80.6}B_{6.4}Ga_{0.3}Nb_{0.2}$ alloy, the hydrogen decrepitation was carefully controlled so as to induce more extensive micro-cracks in the particle. Prior to the hydrogenation and disproportionation reaction of HDDR processing, an additional hydrogen degassing was carried out at an elevated temperature of $600^{\circ}C$ under vacuum for the previously hydrogen decrepitated particle. During the additional hydrogen degassing the lattice of hydrogen absorbed $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ phase was further shrunken, hence more microcracks were introduced in the particle due to its brittle nature. Particles with more micro-cracks had more homogeneous hydrogen absorption and desorption reaction during the HDDR-treatment. The improved reproducibility of coercivity of the HDDR-treated material was attributed to the improved homogeneity of the HDDR reactions due to the presence of more micro-cracks.

Study on Stratigraphy, Structural Geology and Hydrocarbon Potentials of the Cretaceous Strata, Northeastern Iraq (이라크 북동부 지역 백악기 퇴적층의 층서, 구조지질 및 탄화수소 부존 유망성 연구)

  • Seismic reflection data are integrated with fieldwork data in order to understand startigraphy, structural geology and hydrocarbon potentials of Cretaceous strata in the Mesopotamian basin, Northeastern Iraq. Cretaceous strata in the basin divided into the Qamchuqa, Kometan, Bekhme and Shiranish formations, which are composed of carbonates deposited in shallow marine environment. The geological structures in these formations are mainly recognized as thrusts, detachment folds, fault propagation folds and fault bend folds. As well, NW-SE trending fractures are regularly developed, and are horizontal or perpendicular to the structures. The distribution and frequency of fractures are related to the development of the thrusts. In terms of hydrocarbon potentials, Cretaceous strata in the basin have limited capacities for source rocks and seal rocks due to the lack of organic carbon content and the well-developed fractures, respectively. Although these carbonates have limited primary porosity, however, development of the secondary porosity derived from the fractures contributes to enhance the reservoir quality. Most important factor for the reservoir quality of Cretaceous strata seems to be the frequency and connectivity of fractures relative to locations of folds and faults. The results delineated in this study will use as reference for recognizing stratigraphy and structures of Cretaceous strata and will provide useful information on hydrocarbon potentials of Cretaceous strata in the Mesopotamian basin, NE Iraq.

  • 표면상태가 $LaNi_{4.7}Al_{0.3}$의 활성화에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해서 여러가지 산화 상태에서의 incubation time을 관찰하였다. Incubation time은 입자의 크기, 파쇄후 경과시간, 합금방법에 따라 다르게 나타났다. 재료를 파쇄한후 실험한 날짜에 따라 incubation time은 초기에는 증가하다가 최대점을 지난후 감소하고 다시 최소점을 보인후 증가하는 현상을 보였다. 이것은 Ni cluster와 산화층의 복합적인 작용인 것으로 생각된다. Ni cluster의 양과 산화층의 두께는 공기에 노출되는 시간이 증가함에 따라 증가하였다.

  • 폐자동차의 최종처분 과정에서 발생하는 자동차 파쇄 폐기물(Automobile Shredder Dust)은 대부분이 고분자 화합물로 높은 발열량을 가지고 있다. 또한 할로겐족 원소가 포함된 난연성 고분자류가 많아 다이옥신의 생성 우려가 높은 고분자류와 다이옥신 생성의 촉매 역할을 할 수 있는 금속성분이 많이 함유되어 있어 가스화용융시스템에 적용하여 처리하기에 매우 적합한 폐기물이다. 본 연구에서는 ASR의 가스화 용융 시설에서 고농도 CO를 함유한 합성가스를 수성가스전환반응(Water Gas Shift reaction, WGS)을 이용하여 수소의 수율을 높이는 기술을 제시하였다. 가스화 용융 설비에서 배출되는 합성가스 조성을 기준으로 적합한 고정층 WGS 반응기를 설계하고, 고온 촉매(KATALCO 71-5M)와 저온 촉매(KATALCO 83-3X)를 사용하여 실험하였다. 수성가스 반응 후의 가스 조성은 온도가 상승할수록 일산화탄소가 줄어들고 이에 따라 수소와 이산화탄소 발생량이 증가 되어 고온 촉매를 사용했을 경우 일산화탄소 전환율 ($1-CO_{out}/CO_{in}$)은 55.6에서 95.8%까지 상승하였다. 동일한 온도조건에서는 촉매에 관계없이 $CO/H_2$가 감소할수록 전환율도 감소하는 경향을 보였지만 동일한 합성가스 조성에서 일산화탄소 전환율을 비교하면 저온 촉매가 고온 촉매보다 매우 우수함을 알 수 있었다.

  • 악취가스제거용으로 흔히 파쇄상 활성탄소를 사용하고 있는데 조립상 침착 활성탄소를 사용하면 경도가 높고 입도가 균일하여 흡착탑 내에서 일정한 가스 유속분포를 얻을 수 있고 Life Time을 연장할 수 있기 때문에 여러 장점이 있다. 일반 활성탄소의 표면은 비극성이며 흡착력이 본질적으로 단순히 반델발스 힘에 의한 물리흡착이기 때문에 황화수소나 $NH_3$ 등 비점이 낮은 성분에 대해서는 충분한 흡착성을 갖지 못한다. (중략)

  • 바이오매스 가스화 프로세스 개발에 있어서 가장 기본적인 해결과제는 고발열량의 합성가스 제조, 냉가스 효율의 향상, 타르 발생량 저감 및 제거이다. 가스화 효율 향상에 대한 연구는 국내외 적으로 많이 이루어지고 있으나, 타르 발생량 저감에 대한 연구는 많이 이루어져 있지 않다. 타르는 분자량이 큰 방향적 탄화수소로 응축되면 점성이 높아 배관폐쇄, 정제설비의 압력손실 증가로 인해 운전정지 및 가스화율 저하의 원인이 된다. 가스화로에서 타르 발생량을 저감시키는 방법 중에는 Ni계 촉매를 이용하는 방법이 있으나, 카본 누적에 의한 활성저하, 알칼리금속에 의한 응집 등의 문제가 발생할 수 있다. 한편 철산화물은 합성가스 중의 C2-C3계의 타르를 분해하는데 효과가 알려져 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 적벽돌, 염색슬러지 회재 등에는 철산화물이 다량 함유되어 있는 것에 착안하여 폐기물중의 폐금속을 이용한 바이오매스 가스화에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 점토광물계 폐기물인 적벽돌 파쇄물($SiO_2$ 67.2%, $Al_2O_3$ 19.7%, $Fe_2O_3$ 8.7%, $K_2O$ 2.0%, $TiO_2$ 1.2%, MgO 0.7%)을 전처리 한 후 유동매체로하여 우드펠렛을 가스화한 결과, 가스 생성량이 증가하고, 타르 및 탄화수소류가 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 특히 타르는 후단의 타르 트랩에서 타르가 거의 검출이 되지 않았다. 전처리를 하지 않은 적벽돌 파쇄물은 반응시간이 경과한 후에 가스화율이 증가함에 따라 철화합이 가스화로내에서 환원되어 타르를 분해하는데에는 어느 정도의 반응시간이 필요한 것을 확인하였다.

Induced Seismicity and Its Applications (유발지진 관측과 활용)

  • Induced seismicity has been observed in the relation with lots of anthropogenic influence and at variety of geological conditions over the last several decades. This paper reviews those induced earthquakes and compares with each other as well as with natural tectonic earthquakes. Hydraulic fracturing is commonly used to enhance the permeability through new cracks in the rock formation. The process triggers the induced seismicity, which can give crucial information on the fracture network and oil/gas migration. In the similar way, unintentionally induced events during the production procedure of the field, dam reservoir, minig activity, or wastewater injection can be used to give insight into various hydrodynamic processes and changes of reservoir properties at a various scales. The general conclusion summarizes the uncertainty or limitations of knowledge up to date and presents some issues to be dealt with in the future research.

  • Chlorobium liimicola f. thiosulfatophilum NCIB 8327 was grown on modified Pfennig's medium using ammonium chloride. glutamine. glutamate, or dinitrogen gas as nitrogen sources. Except for the case of dinitrogen gas. the extent of gro\\1h was almost the s~me. The specific activity of glutamine synthetase in crude extracts is the highest in the cells which were grown on the medium containing glutamate. hut that of glutamate synthase is uniform for all four nitrogen sources. When the concentration of ammonium ions increases in the reaction mixture. the specific activity of glutamine synthetase in crude extract from the cells grown on glutamate decreases. hut that of glutamate dehydrogenase increases. whereas that of glutamate synthase remains unchanged. When the concentration of methionine sulfoximine increases, the activity of glutamine synthetases decreases rapidly. On the other hand. when the concentration of ammonium ions increases in the reaction mixture gradually. the activity of glutamine synthetase from the cells grown on higher concentration of ammonium ions less decreases. In the presence of light. the activity of glutamine synthetase increases. hut in the dark it decreases gradually. The production of hydrogen in intact cells depends on light. It is inhihited by adding ammonium ions. hut restores immediately hy adding methionine sulfoximine. The produclion of hydrogen in this strain can he mediated by nitrogenase only. and regulated hy glutamine synthetase.

Quality Characteristics of Hamburger Bread Prepared by the Addition of Kimchi Homogenate (김치 첨가 햄버거빵의 품질 특성)

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the effects of Kimchi homogenate product(KHP) on dough characteristics and quality of bread. Breads were prepared by the addition of 0, 7, 14 and 21% of KHP to the basic formulation. The pH of dough with KHP were ranged from 5.19 to 5.30 and pH of the control was 5.58. Loaf volume index of the bread prepared by adding 7∼21% KHP increased by 5.4∼17.2%. Color L value of the bread crust and crumb with KHP decreased, color a value of the bread crumb with KHP increased, and b value of the crumb with KHP decreased. The hardness decreased with the addition of KHP, but the cohesiveness and springiness increased with the addition of KHP. Sensory quality of the Kimchi hamburger bread estimated by shape, flavor and overall quality was better than that of the control bread. Especially, the Kimchi hamburger bread quality with addition of 14% KHP was the best.
