Simulation of Temperature Behavior in Hydrogen Tank During Refueling Using Cubic Equations of State (3차 상태방정식을 이용한 수소 충전 온도 거동 모사)

  • The analysis of temperature behavior of a hydrogen tank during refueling is of significance to clarify the safety of the compressed hydrogen storage in vehicles since the temperature at a tank rises with inflow of hydrogen. A mass balance and an energy balance were combined to obtain analytical model for temperature change during the hydrogen refueling. The equation was coupled to Peng-Robinson-Gasem (PRG) equation of state (EOS) for hydrogen. The PRG EOS was adopted after comparison with other four different cubic EOSs. A parameter of the model was determined to fit data from experiments of various inlet flow rates and temperatures. The temperature and pressure change with refueling time were obtained by the developed model. The calculation results revealed that the extent of precooling was more effective than the flow rate control.

  • The focus of this study is to develop a virtual reality program for safe training and virtual reality of hydrogen station. This programme consists of 4 modules such as hydrogen and safety module, hydrogen station module, hypothetical experience module, and accident scenarios module for hydrogen experts. User can experience with principles and operation condition and collect the information of hydrogen station by this programme and can simultaneously study the probable scenarios, emergency response plan/standard operating procedure about hydrogen stations. It makes it possible to educate and safety publicity for the trainee. This virtual reality program will be expected to be helpful for hydrogen station's construction propagation and technology development which is essential for hydrogen energy induction.

  • In order to invigoration the hydrogen economy, production of hydrogen needed for hydrogen charging stations and hydrogen fuel cells is needed. Generally, it is reforming used to coal fuel or natural gas. Other technologies include water electrolysis using pure water. Among these water electrolysis technologies, development is mainly carried out using PEM(Polymer Electrolyte Membrane electrolysis). In this study, the company aims to identify potential harmful hazards to PEM electrolysis hydrogen stations in the development stage among hydrogen charging stations. In order to find the hazardous factors in the facilities of the electrolysis and hydrogen charging stations, we were analyzed by Failure Mode & Effect Analysis(FMEA).

  • 본 논문은 슬로싱(Sloshing) 거동에 놓인 극저온 액체수소 화물창의 BOG 예측을 위한 CFD 해석 절차를 다루고 있다. 특히, 적재율(Filling Ratio)에 따라 달라지는 열 유입과 그에 따른 액체수소의 기화 경향을 파악하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 액체수소와 기체수소의 혼재에 의한 다상 열유동(Multiphase-Thermal flow) 특성을 반영하고 유동에 따른 강제 대류 현상을 열유속에 반영하기 위한 CFD 해석을 수행하였다. 다상 유동 모델의 정확성을 검증하기 위하여 슬로싱 실험의 압력 계측 값과 해석의 압력 값 및 자유수면(Free surface) 형상을 비교하였다. 소형 C-Type 독립형 액화수소 탱크를 대상으로 슬로싱 유동과 BOG 발생을 수치적으로 예측하였다. 해석 과정에서 VOF(Volume of fraction) 모델과 Eulerian 모델을 모두 적용하여, 액체수소에 유입되는 열 유속(Heat flux)의 예측 정확성을 비교하였다. 슬로싱 유무에 따라 액체수소에 유입되는 열 유속을 비교하여 슬로싱 유동의 포함 여부에 따른 BOG 발생량의 변화를 제시하였으며, 최종적으로 액체수소의 충전율(Filling ratio) 별로 BOG 발생량의 경향성을 제시하였다.

  • This study is quantitatively assessing of safety about dispenser of hydrogen station because it is hydrogen energy to efficient safety use. The large leakage of hydrogen gas is the most important accident among others occurrence possibility in hydrogen station. It had written FT by top event and calculated unavailability, m-cutsets, leakage frequency, etc with FTA after each base event collect reliability data by reliability data handbook, THERP-HRA and estimation of the engineering.

  • The research on production and application of hydrogen as an alternative energy in the future is being carried out actively. It hydrogen storage is necessary in order that user use hydrogen economically without much difficulty. Among the ways of hydrogen storage the method which is compressed hydrogen gas by high pressure is easier for application than other methods. In this study, we have been calculated gas with changing pressure and temperature variation of container wall through applied to mass and energy balance equation when compressing hydrogen by high pressure, and also to Beattie-Bridgeman equation of state for the kinetic of hydrogen. We will apply above date as a preliminary for design of hydrogen storage tank.

  • A compressed hydrogen tank is to be repressurized to 40 bar by being connected to a high-pressure line containing hydrogen at 50 bar and 25℃. Hydrogen filling time and the corresponding hydrogen temperature has been estimated when the filling process stopped according to several thermodynamic models. During the process of cooling the hydrogen tank, hydrogen temperature and pressure vs. time estimation was performed using Aspen Dynamics. Filling time, hydrogen temperature after filling hydrogen gas, cooling time and the final tank pressure after tank filling process have been completed according to the thermodynamic models are almost same.

  • After reviewing the current status of hydrogen buses and hydrogen charging stations in the United States, as well as related laws and programs, it was found that the federal and state governments supported the supports of hydrogen buses and the deployment of hydrogen charging infrastructure through various policies and programs. In order to promote the spread of domestic and overseas hydrogen buses and hydrogen charging infrastructure, it is necessary to develop and apply various legal systems and programs that can provide incentives to hydrogen bus manufacturers, hydrogen charging station installers, hydrogen bus operating organizations and entities.   • Hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles are typically refueled at a wide range of temperatures (-40℃ to 85℃) in the hydrogen refueling station in accordance with the worldwide accepted standard. Currently, there is no traceable method by which to verify and calibrate the hydrogen flowmeters to be used at hydrogen refueling stations except for a water calibration process as a conventional method. KRISS hydrogen field test standard based on the gravimetric principle was developed to verify the measurement accuracy of the mass flowmeter to be used at hydrogen refueling stations for the first time in Korea.

  • Electrochemical studies were performed by a half-cell test for the nickel hydroxide (cathode) and hydrogen storage alloy(anode) electrodes for the sealed Ni-MH batteries applicable to industrial use. The electrodes were fabricated and checked a charge efficiency and an internal pressure of the battery during charge-discharge cycling. In order to reduce the internal pressure of the sealed Ni-MH battery, cyclic voltammetry (CV) were performed on the electrodes of nickel hydroxide(cathode) and hydrogen storage alloy(anode), respectively. The results of the test showed clearly the oxidation/reduction and oxygen evolution reaction in a nickel hydroxide electrode and the hydrogenation behavior of a hydrogen storage electrode. The sealed Ni-MH battery of 130Ah was fabricated by using nickel hydroxide of a high over-voltage for an oxygen gas evolution and hydrogen storage alloy of a good performance for activation The battery showed a good characteristics such as a high charge efficiency of 98% at 1 C charge current, a low level internal pressure of 4 atm on a continuous over-charging and a large preservation capacity of 95% at 400 cycle.
