The effects of non-uniform droplets distribution on the characteristics of group combustion for liquid fuel droplets cloud (비균일 액적분포가 액적군의 집단연소 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • In order to predict the effects of droplets distributions such as number density and droplets size on group combustion characteristics and flame structure for liquid fuel sprays, modifications of group combustions model were made by changing the droplets distributions from uniform to non-uniform. Various droplets distribution models were adopted in this analysis to examine the effect of number density distribution on combustion characteristics and the difference between uniform and non-uniform droplets size distributions for a spherical droplets cloud. As results of present study, hollow droplets could with outer concentrating distribution has shorter total combustion time compare with the case of solid droplets cloud with inner concentrating distribution. Uniform droplets size distribution model predicts the shorter total combustion time compare with non-uniform droplets size distribution model, and the uniform droplets size distribution model may be used to predict the total combustion time for the droplets cloud containing larger initial size of droplets.

A Study on the Characteristics of Flow Fields in a Coal Gasifier (석탄 가스화기내의 유동장 특성 연구)

  • In this study numerical computations were performed to predict reacting flow fields of gasification processes of pulverized subbituminous coal in a cylindrical coal gasifier. To check the size effects of particles on flow fields in the gasifier, simulations were performed for five cases with four sizes of particles such as 40 $\mu\textrm{m}$, 60 $\mu\textrm{m}$, 80 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and 100 $\mu\textrm{m}$. Each case has a unique size of particles with one more case that has evenly mixed four sizes of particles. Predictions showed that the gasification which uses coals of the mixed sizes reveals more preferable gas velocity and temperature distributions than that uses coals of a unique size. Predicted gas temperature at the exit of the gasifier ranged 1,400 to 1580$^{\circ}C$, 1,480 to 1,700$^{\circ}C$, 1,600 to 1740$^{\circ}C$, 1630 to 1790$^{\circ}C$ and 1500 to 1680$^{\circ}C$ for particle sizes of 40 $\mu\textrm{m}$, 60 $\mu\textrm{m}$, 80 $\mu\textrm{m}$, 100 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and the evenly mixed four sizes, respectively.

  • Blast furnace slag doesn't have self-hydraulicity and it needs stimulants such as alkali to hydrate. Therefore using recycled aggregates erupted calcium hydroxides and blast furnace slag acquiring alkali stimulate could make a complementarily use of a recycling architectural material possible. In this study, we have discussed about characters of blast furnace slag and recycled aggregate firstly, and make recycled aggregate mortar and concrete using blast furnace slag for the experiment. The experiment is about mortar and concrete using recycled aggregate as a substitutional material of blast furnace slag. In this experiment, I replace blast furnace slag and aggregate with recycled aggregate. Conclusions through the test results analysis are as follows. And then, we added field experiment using concrete with composited materials.

  • This study examined the field applicability of promoted high durability concrete (PHDC) developed for improving the chloride penetration resistance of coastal landfill underground structures. PHDC was found superior to conventional concrete containing slag in watertightness, crack resistance, and chloride penetration resistance required in coastal landfill underground structures. It was also more workable in field application, and easier to control the quality. This study investigated the strength development, crack resistance, and chloride penetration resistance of PHDC, and performed life evaluation of underground concrete structures of coastal landfill using the Life 365 program.

Non-Steady Group Combustion of Liquid Fuel Droplets (액체연료 액적군 의 비정상 집단연소)

  • A non-steady group combustion model of a spherical droplets cloud has been developed to access the non-steady effects of collective behavior of fuel droplets on combustion characteristics and cloud structure. A system of conservation equations of droplets cloud in axisymmetric spherical coordinate was solved by numerical methods for n-Butylbenzene(C$_{10}$ / $H_{14}$) It was found that the effect of initial droplet size on combustion characteristics is dominated compare with effects of cloud size and number density of droplets. For dense droplets cloud, external group combustion mode is established during main part of cloud life time, and internal and single droplet combustion modes are simultaneously established for the dilute droplets cloud. Radius of cloud and external envelope flame are slowly decreased during main part of cloud life time, and suddenly decreased at end of combustion period.d.

  • PVC(Polyvinyl Chloride)와 HDPE(High-density Polyethlene) 하수도관은 수많은 고분자 재료 중에도 높은 기계적 강도를 가지며, 광범위하게 사용되고 있다. 하지만, PVC와 HDPE 하수관을 연결하기 위해 소모 접착제나 고무링 이용한 소켓 방법 이음 방법은 낮은 수밀성과 기계적 강도로 오 폐수의 누수가 발생되고, 이것이 흙에 스며들어 지하수, 하천 및 토양을 오염시키고 있다. 따라서, 대안으로 최근에는 열판을 이용한 맞대기 융착 용접을 PE 하수도 관에 제한적으로 적용하여 시공하고 있다. 그러나, PVC 하수관은 열을 가할 시 열에 의한 민감한 거동으로 인해 맞대기 융착 용접법이 적용되지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 하수도 관 중, 국내에서 가장 많이 사용되고 있는 내 충격 PVC 하수도관과 HDPE 이중 벽관의 DSC(Diffential Scanning Calorimeter), TGA(Thermogravimetric analyzer), TMA(Thermomechanical Analysis), DMA(Dynamic Mechanical Analysis) 분석으로 온도에 따른 열적 거동을 분석하여, 적절한 융착 온도 조건을 제시하였다. 또한 접합강도 향상을 위한 이음부 설계를 제안하여, 융착 용접 특성을 평가하였다.

  • This study presents the mechanical behavior of a ventilating window (a tsunami damper) on the building wall of a nuclear power plant. The window, which is under development, is used to ventilate a machinery room and the building under normal conditions, but it also provides a safety barrier for critical equipment against a tsunami caused by an earthquake. A finite element analysis was conducted to investigate the deflection and the stress distribution of the window under given loading conditions. With symmetry, a one-quarter portion of one window was modeled, and the pressure due to a great tide is assumed to be 7 bar. A structural analysis of the assembled frame, composed of a blade and casing, was also conducted using contact conditions to find the stress and strain configurations caused by the applied pressure.

  • There are Common aspects between the underground oil storage cavern and the radioactive waste disposal facility. Both facilities use appropriately the intrinsic natural berrier characteristics of the rock mass and additionally the engineered barrier system for the long term safety. The geological structures and their hydrogeological characteristics in a faactured rock mass act a major role in the safety and performance of the underground oil storage facility through the design, construction and the operation stages. Because the fracture system distributed in a fractured rock block is complicated owing to their own geometrical and hydrogeological attributes, the hydrogeological perforrmrnce of the facility would depend mainly upon the understandings of their characteristics. This study reviews the uncertainties and key issues which have to be considered to analyse the groundwater flow system in a fractured rock mass and proposes the techniques applicable to characterize the hydrogeological parameter.

  • For the purpose of the study on the spray characteristics of a coaxial nozzle, the measurement of the velocity and size of droplets, concentration, and the statistical correlation coefficient between the fluctuation of the velocity and that of the corresponding drop diameter have been carried out. Various method of simultaneous measurement of velocity and drop size have been developed from LDV techniques. The technique used here belongs to the method that supposed by Yule, Holve and Self. It has the advantages of making use of a standard LDV apparatus to which minor modifications have been brought, photomultiplier is equipped with a slit instead of a pinhole and observed the measuring volume at an angle of 90.deg.. The voltage supplied by the photomultiplier has undergone an appropriate analog and digital processing. The experimental results give a good idea of the two phase flow organization and can be helpful to find a drop diffusion model when suitable data are imput.

  • This research reviewed the joint and duration characteristics depending on the surface treatment condition and lap spliced length in the PET film jointing method using the high hardness liquid material. As a result, the corona discharge treatment was improved to the contact angle, joint tensile strength, and joint peel resistance compared to non-treatment. Particularly, a surface treatment E (Corona discharge + Primer + PU bond + Polyester fabric) turned out to the best, and especially when the lap spliced length is longer than 15mm, stable joint performance was secured under the long term deterioration treatment of 16 weeks. Thus, the joint is considered to be applicable as the water-proof material.
