It was revaluated about taxonomic position of Bupleurum latissimum Nakai (Apiaceae) by the cluster analysis, the principal component analysis, and the discriminant analysis. Its diagnostic characteristics include bracteole length longer than umbellules, 16-21 pedicel numbers, plant with evergreen leaves, chromosome number 2n = 16 and cauline leaves with auriculate base. It is morphologically similar to B. euphorbioides in having ovate bracteoles, 16-21 pedicel numbers, chromosome number 2n = 16, and cauline leaves with auriculate base, but distinguished from B. longiradiatum with having linear bracteoles, 7-15 pedicel numbers, and chromosome number 2n = 12. Morphological characters support that Bupleurum latissimum Nakai is a Korean endemic species.

A mineralogical study was made in order to identify the relationship between uranium content in groundwater and rock chemistry using core rocks recovered from the drilling holes for wells in the Daebo Granite areas. Uraniferous minerals are of primary origin and occur as inclusions in accessory minerals such as zircon, monazite, and xenotime. Since the uraniferous minerals are very small to be 1 ~ 2 $\mu$m in size, it is difficult to distinguish their mineralogical species precisely. The frequent presence of dissolution cavities or dissolved textures in the accessory minerals suggests that uraniferous minerals dissolved partially and contributed to the groundwater chemistry. Because there is no clear relationship between host rocks and groundwater for uranium concentration, mineralogical characteristics of uraniferous minerals, together with aqueous geochemical conditions favorable for uranium dissolution, could play important roles in groundwaster chemistry.
Numerical analysis using morphological characters was done in order to clarify taxonomic circumscriptions and identities of Korean endemic, Cirsium setidens (Dunn) Nakai, Cirsium chanroenicum Nakai, and Cirsium toraiense Nakai ex Kitam.. Principal components analysis of C. setidens and C. chanroenicum using 29 morphological characters and 12 leaves characters revealed one group which could not separate. Identity of C. toraiense could not be confirmed by the destruction of habitat, similarity of morphological diagnostic characters between many specimens identified C. toraiense including type specimen and C. japonicum var. ussuriense. In considering the variational patterns of morphological characters, it is strongly suggested that identities of C. setidens f. alba, C. setidens var. niveo-araneum, and C setidens var. pinnatifolium should be recognized, but C. chanroenicum var. lanceolata should be included to circumscription of C. setidens.
In this study, the hydraulic experiments were conducted for the dredging efficiency of the cutter head type, which includes the open type and the close type cutter head. The dredging experimental instrument was installed in the large water tank which has the dimension of $4.9m(L){\times}2.2m(W){\times}1.5m(H)$. The dredging experiments were performed for the various conditions of dredging depth, rotating speed, and suction speed of the cutter head. As the results, the dredging efficiency of the close-type cutter head is much higher than that of the open-type cutter head. The dredging efficiency of the same cutter head type was mainly influenced by the rotating speed of cutter head. Also the adequate suction speed of the cutter head is needed for more effective dredging.
Pore network models are useful tools to investigate soil pore geometry. These models provide quantitative information of pore geometry from 3D images. This study presents a pore network model to quantify pore structure and hydraulic characteristics. The objectives of this work were to apply the pore network model to characterize pore structure from large images to quantify pore structure, calculate water retention and hydraulic conductivity properties from a three dimensional soil image, and to combine measured hydraulic properties from experiments with calculated hydraulic properties from image. Soil samples were taken from a site located at the Baltimore science center, which is located inside of the city. Undisturbed columns were taken from the site and scanned with a computer tomographer at resolutions of 22 ${\mu}m$. Pore networks were extracted by medial-axis transformation and were used to measure pore geometry from one of the scanned samples. Water retention and unsaturated hydraulic conductivity values were calculated from the soil image. Properties of soil bulk density, water retention and unsaturated hydraulic conductivity were measured from three replicates of scanned soil samples. 3D image analysis provided accurate detailed pore properties such as individual pore volumes, pore length, and tortuosity of all pores. These data made possible to calculate accurate estimations of water retention and hydraulic conductivity. Combination of the calculated and measured hydraulic properties gave more accurate information on pore sizes over wider range than measured or calculated data alone. We could conclude that the hydraulic property computed from soil images and laboratory measurements can describe a full structure of intra- and inter-aggregate pores in soil.

The most decisive factor of major sources of a helicopter is the main rotor system and the rotor-induced vibration is one of the technical challenges which should be resolved to ensure comfort for crews and passengers. Passive vibration reduction devices are adopted in conventional helicopters and several types of passive devices are also used in Surion. In recent years, foreign helicopter manufactures have increasingly applied the application of AVCS (active vibration control system) because of their superior performance with lower weight compared to passive device. In addition to weight reduction, AVCS has advantages maintaining its performance over aircraft configuration changes and flight condition changes. The technology demonstration program was performed in order to validate the performance of AVCS when applied to Surion, and optimization process for finding optimal configuration of sensors and actuators. Optimal configuration was produced using ground and flight test data, and its performance was evaluated and compared with flight test result.

This study identified the materials and construction methods of 'Old Wall' in 13 villages which were designated as National Registered Cultural Heritage at the time of designation and examined the their structural changes based on field survey. The results are as follows: First, the 'Old Wall' consisted of 10 Soil-Stone Wall and 5 Stone Wall. At the time of designation, Stone Wall, which was built irregularly by dry-construction of natural stones, is similar in shape, but Soil-Stone Wall showed difference by the construction method of making used stones, joints, and faces. Second, the study extracted the changes of 'Old Wall' by repair and examined the changes of construction methods as well as the substitution and addition of materials of structure. The wall-roof was built with cement roof-tile and asbestos slate which have the advantage improve durability and cost-effectiveness. In addition, tile-mouth soil was added to korean traditional roof-tile to prevent rainwater from flowing in. Besides, to improve constructional convenience, the natural stone of the wall-body was replaced with blast stone, float stone and cut stone. Cement block, cement brick and cement mortar were frequently used to repair as well. As Soil-Stone Wall was transformed from irregular pattern-construction to comb pattern-construction and wet-construction was changed to dry-construction, it caused landscape and structural problems. Also, the layer of cement mortar applied to wall-foundation blocked the flow of rainwater that was induced by dry-construction of natural stones. Third, the study regarded that the problem with the repair of 'Old Wall' may occur as it is located in living space, because the owner of the wall could repair for the minor damages without technical knowledge. In addition, it is difficult for repair companies in charge of maintenance of Cultural Heritage to supply local materials, and it is differential construction specifications are not applied.
We have examined the pedicel pubescence and other major morphological characters of 11 putative hybrid populations of Aconitum subgn. Aconitum at Mt. Sobaek to understand their origin. These populations show very complicated patterns of variation in pedicel pubescence ; they contain individuals having pedicels (1) completely glabrous, (2) with few micropapillate curved hairs near the receptacle, (3) moderately pubescent with micropapillate curved hairs from middle to upper portion, (4) sparsely pubescent with a mixture of micropapillate curved hairs and smooth-surfaced spreading glandular hairs near the receptacle, and (5) moderately pubescent with both types of hairs but from middle to upper portion. All five types of individuals co-occur in most populations with varying proportions. These results, in conjunction with evidence from the analysis of other major morphological characters, suggest that the populations at Mt. Sobaek were derived from the multiple hybridization events involving A. kusnezoffii, A. japonicum subsup. napiforme, and A. jaluense subsp. jaluense. In addition, the absence of "typical" forms of these putative parental taxa in Mt. Sobaek area suggests that repeated introgression has probably occurred in these populations.
Current maintenance system are unable to suggest solid basis of maintenance for roating and static equipment. When a filure occurs, replacement or repair without proper process of failure cause analysis would often result in even greater risk. Therefore in this study, a procedure of Reliability Centred Maintenance is develped in order to perform maintenance in preventive mainer (PM), and to effectively manage risk of any equipment based on failure types and respective rates of failure. Ultimately an equipment with higher risk will be monitored which will lead to effectively prevent and manage any major accident.
