  • The purpose of this study was to identify the moderating effect of resilience and hope among satisfaction of university, family cohesion, and perceived entrapment. It was conducted to measure research variables from 610 university students. The moderating effect according to resilience and hope was analyzed through hierarchical regression analysis and presented in graphs of significant moderating effect. As a result of analysis, first, there were significant relationship, among satisfaction of university, family cohesion, and perceived entrapment. Second, satisfaction of university and family cohesion had a significant negative effect on the perceived entrapment. Third, resilience had moderating effect within the relationship of university satisfaction and perceived entrapment. Forth, hope had moderating effect within the relationship of family cohesion and perceived entrapment. Implications of these results were explored in relation to the importance of resilience and hope that could be taken to reduce perceived entrapment.

  • We have investigated the effect of short-term immobilization stress on the serum concentrations of cortisol and DHEAS in BALB/c male mice. Serum cortisol and DHEAS concentrations were measured by radioimmunoassay(RIA). We found there were significantly increased in the cortisol levels in 30 min-stressed group(Ⅰ-30N) compared with control(C) group (p<0.01), and also increased with significance in 120 min-stressed group(I-120N) compared with C group(p<0.01). Cortisol concentrations were significantly increased in both 30 min-stressed group(Ⅰ-30T), and 120 min-stressed group(Ⅰ-120T) compared with C group(p<0.01). The sustained increase of cortisol levels were observed in both SG treated and SG non-treated group. Serum cortisol levels were lower in SG treated group than SG non-treated group with significance(p<0.01). By contrast, DHEAS levels were slightly decreased without significance in Ⅰ-30N, but significantly decreased in Ⅰ-120N compared with C group(p<0.01). There were slightly decreased in the DHEAS levels in Ⅰ-30T, but significantly decreased in Ⅰ-120T compared with C group(p<0.01). However, SG treatment did not induce any significant changes of DHEAS levels in both 30 min and 120 min-stressed group. Though short-term immobilization stress, the continuous decline of DHEAS levels were observed. Therefore, these results show that short-term immobilization stress affects the serum concentrations of cortisol and DHEAS in mice.

  • The purpose of this study was examine the mediating effects of psychological flexibility and entrapment on the relationship between college students's life stress and adjustment to college life. A sample of 142 college students at a university located in Jeonju city completed self-report measures of life stress, psychological flexibility, entrapment and adjustment to college life. In order to examine the mediating effect, The collected data from college students were analyzed by the procedures prosposed by Baron and Kenny. Psychological flexibility and entrapment partially mediated the relationship between life stress and adjustment to college life, indicating that life stress directly affect adjustment to college life and indirectly affect adjustment to college life through psychological flexibility and entrapment. Finally, limitations of the results of this study and therapeutic interventions to prevent maladjustment by college students were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study was examine the mediating effects of defeat and entrapment on the relationship between mentally disordered offender's depression and suicidal ideation. A sample of 86 patients in the national forensic hospital completed self-report measures of depression, defeat, entrapment and suicidal ideation. The data from patients collected data were analyzed by mediating effects according to the procedures prosposed by Baron and Kenny. As a result, defeat and entrapment fully mediated the relationship between depression and suicidal ideation, indicating that depression indirectly affect suicidal ideation through defeat and entrapment. Finally, limitations of the results of this study and therapeutic interventions to prevent suicides by mentally disordered offenders were discussed.

  • This study is a descriptive research study conducted to identify evaluative concerns perfectionism, entrapment and depression in university nursing students, and to identify the factors influencing depression. The subjects of the research were students enrolled in two major departments in G city. Statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and band regression analysis were used for data analysis. Research results indicated that the factors influencing depression to university nursing students were external constraints (β=.414, p<.001) and socially imposed perfectionism (β=.174, p<.001), and these explained 24.9% of the subject's degree of depression. In particular, it was found that external Entrapment had the greatest effect by 22.7%. Therefore, based on the results of this research analysis, it is recommended to develop and manage various extracurricular programs that can reduce the external entrapment and socially imposed perfectionism so that depression can be managed, reduced and prevented depression of university nursing students at an early stage.

  • This study was carried out to develop new model for gastric ulcer and to investigate some factor which effect it. Rats were immersed for 8 hours. Ulcer index was measured from total length of occured ulcer. Ulcer index (UI) of restraint and immersion group was higher significantly than that of only restraint group (p<0.001) and ulcer was occurred within only glandular stomach. UI of low water temperature group was higher significantly than that of high water temperature group (p

  • Purpose: This descriptive correlation study was designed to examine the relationship of inferiority to depression and psychosomatic symptoms in female adolescents. In addition, this study investigated the mediating effect of perceived entrapment in relation to inferiority and other variables. Method: Data were collected from 526 female high school students. Self-report questionnaires, which were constructed to include demographic factors, inferiority, perceived entrapment, depression and psychosomatic symptoms, were used for data collection. Results: Students with high inferiority showed significantly higher perceived entrapment, depression and psychosomatic symptoms. here were significant positive correlations among the variables. Perceived entrapment had a significant mediating effect in relation to inferiority, depression and psychosomatic symptoms. Conclusion: Further study is necessary to develop effective nursing interventions for managing inferiority and perceived entrapment in this population.
