The flow analysis was made by applying the turbulent models in the complicated fuel chamber of engine. The $k-\varepsilon,\;k-\omega$, Spalart-Allmaras and reynolds stress models are used in which the hybrid grid is applied for the simulation. The velocity vector, the pressure contour, the change of residual along the iteration number, and the dynamic head are simulated for the comparison of four example cases. Computational results are compared with others. For the code's validation, 2-D bodies were simulated in advance by predicting the drag coefficients.
In this study, for the improvement of flow pattern with the CDI module that had the larger electrodes, it was designed with the rectangular type which is gradually wider from the inlet. Based on this, both the flow pattern of feed solution and dead zone were observed and the internal pressure, streaming line and velocity vector distribution were analyzed through the computational flow dynamics and compared with the experimental results. For all flow rates of 10, 20, 30 mL/min, there were no dead zones and the flow patterns were maintained constant. Therefore, it may be possible that the larger electrodes are applied to the CDI process.

This study examined the flow and noise inside a sirocco fan for ventilation as a commercial program. To confirm only the location and power of the noise source, flow analysis was performed with steady state flow analysis. Through flow analysis, the flow was observed in the sirocco fan and the velocity vector. The pressure distribution inside was observed with contours. From the results of steady analysis, the position and size of the noise source could be seen using the 'Curle surface acoustic power' and 'Proudman acoustic power'. The Curle surface acoustic power can be used to observe the noise from the surface. The Proudman acoustic power can be used to detect noise generated in the flow region because the position and size of the noise source generated inside the sirocco fan can be seen only in the steady state. Therefore it is necessary to further analyze the unsteady state to check the frequency of the noise generated. This study provides basic data for improving the performance of the Sirocco fan and reducing the noise.

Butterfly valves have been used for shut-off and throttling-control application in many industrial fields. Recently, they are frequently used for cooling water, oil system and ballast piping system of many larger vessels. They are especially suited for flow throttling control of heat exchangers in engine room. Measurement by the PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry) was conducted to investigate the flow characteristics of butterfly valve inserted within circular pipe. Flow behaviors such as instantaneous and time-mean velocity vectors are investigated. Furthermore, to reveal systematic performance of the butterfly valve, wall pressure was measured at 6 points along the pipe by digital manometer. As the valve position moves to the closed side, flow separation increases and persists its tendency downstream until smoothly uniform flow developed. The pressure loss is found to be about zero for the disk open angles less than 45 degrees, but is substantially increased for those larger than 60 degrees.
A numerical simulation on a primary calcinator of porcelain was performed with using Fluent to calculate the heat efficiency by studying velocity vector and temperature profile according to variables such as the location of outlet and porcelain. Control-Volume based Finite Difference Method and Up-wind scheme are used for discretization of differential equation. SIMPLEC Algorithm and standard k-$\varepsilon$ turbulent model are selected to resolve the pressure-velocity coupling and the turbulent. The result of simulation showed that the whole velocity vector field in a calcinator was varied greatly according to the location of outlet. But the whole temperature profile at each zone was still high regardless of the location of outlet because of the radiation. But the temperature of a case with a outlet at sidepart of preheating or cooling zone was little high compared to the case with a outlet on the top of preheating zone. The velocity vector field and temperature profile in a calcinator were almost not affected by the location of porcelain, but the temperature inside a porcelain was much affected according to the place where it was located. The heat efficiency in a calcinator was 44.6% and the gas temperature in the outlet was about 1000 K.
The tropospheric ozone is a pollutant that causes a great deal of damage to humans and ecosystems worldwide. In the event that ozone moves downwind from its source, a localized problem becomes a regional and global problem. To enhance ozone monitoring efficiency, geostationary satellites with continuous diurnal observations have been developed. The objective of this study is to derive the Tropospheric Ozone Movement Vector (TOMV) by employing continuous observations of tropospheric ozone from geostationary satellites for the first time in the world. In the absence of Geostationary Environmental Monitoring Satellite (GEMS) tropospheric ozone observation data, the GEOS-Chem model calculated values were used as synthetic data. Comparing TOMV with GEOS-Chem, the TOMV algorithm overestimated wind speed, but it correctly calculated wind direction represented by pollution movement. The ozone influx can also be calculated using the calculated ozone movement speed and direction multiplied by the observed ozone concentration. As an alternative to a backward trajectory method, this approach will provide better forecasting and analysis by monitoring tropospheric ozone inflow characteristics on a continuous basis. However, if the boundary of the ozone distribution is unclear, motion detection may not be accurate. In spite of this, the TOMV method may prove useful for monitoring and forecasting pollution based on geostationary environmental satellites in the future.

In this paper, we proposed fast and efficient algorithm for detecting near-duplication based on content based retrieval in large scale video database. For handling large amounts of video easily, we split the video into small segment using scene change detection. In case of video services and copyright related business models, it is need to technology that detect near-duplicates, that longer matched video than to search video containing short part or a frame of original. To detect near-duplicate video, we proposed motion distribution and frame descriptor in a video segment. The motion distribution descriptor is constructed by obtaining motion vector from macro blocks during the video decoding process. When matching between descriptors, we use the motion distribution descriptor as filtering to improving matching speed. However, motion distribution has low discriminability. To improve discrimination, we decide to identification using frame descriptor extracted from selected representative frames within a scene segmentation. The proposed algorithm shows high success rate and low false alarm rate. In addition, the matching speed of this descriptor is very fast, we confirm this algorithm can be useful to practical application.

In this study, impurity effects on diffusive-convection flow fields by physical vapor transport under terrestrial and microgravity conditions were numerically analyzed for the mixture of $Hg_2Cl_2-I_2$ system. The numerical analysis provides the essence of diffusive-convection flow as well as heat and mass transfer in the vapor phase during the physical vapor transport through velocity vector flow fields, streamlines, temperature, and concentration profiles. The total molar fluxes at the crystal regions were found to be much more sensitive to both the gravitational acceleration and the partial pressure of component $I_2$ as an impurity. Our results showed that the solutal effect tended to stabilize the diffusive-convection flow with increasing the partial pressure of component $I_2$. Under microgravity conditions below $10^{-3}g_0$, the flow fields showed a one-dimensional parabolic flow structure indicating a diffusion-dominant mode. In other words, at the gravitational levels less than $10^{-3}g_0$, the effects of convection would be negligible.

Human face detection technique plays an important role in computer vision area. It has lots of applications such as face recognition, video surveillance, human computer interface, face image database management, and querying image databases. In this paper, a fast face detection approach using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Support Vector Machines (SVM) is proposed based on the previous study on face detection technique. In the proposed detection system, firstly it filter the face potential area using statistical feature which is generated by analyzing the local histogram distribution the detection process is speeded up by eliminating most of the non-face area in this step. In the next step, PCA feature vectors are generated, and then detect whether there are faces present in the test image using SVM classifier. Finally, store the detection results and output the results on the test image. The test images in this paper are from CMU face database. The face and non-face samples are selected from the MIT data set. The experimental results indicate the proposed method has good performance for face detection.
