Prosperity of Internet led to the web containing huge number of documents. Thus increasing importance is given to the web information retrieval technology that can provide users with documents that contain the right information they want. This paper proposes several techniques that are effective for the improvement of web information retrieval. Similarity between a document and the query is a major source of information exploited by conventional systems. However, we suggest a technique to make use of similarity between a sentence and the query. We introduce a technique to compute the approximate score of the sentence-query similarity even without a mature technology of natural language processing. It was shown that the amount of computation for this task is linear to the number of documents in the total collection, which implies that practical systems can make use of this technique. The next important technique proposed in this paper is to use stratification of documents in re-ranking the documents to output. It was shown that it can lead to significant improvement in performance. We furthermore showed that using hyper links, anchor texts, and titles can result in enhancement of performance. To justify the proposed techniques we developed a large scale web information retrieval system and used it for experiments.
Recently, there have been many attempts to develop BCI (brain computer interface) based on EEG (electroencephalogram). Measurement and analysis of EEG evoked by particular stimulation is important for the design of brain wave pattern and interface of BCI. The purpose of this study is to develop a general-purpose system that measures subject's reaction time after audio-visual stimulation which can work together with any other biosignal measurement systems. The entire system is divided into four modules, which are stimulation signal generation, reaction time measurement, evoked potential measurement and synchronization. Stimulation signal generation module was implemented by means of Flash. Measurement of the reaction time (the period between the answer request and the subject reaction) was achieved by self-made microcontroller system. EEG measurement was performed using the ready-made hardware and software without any modification. Synchronization of all modules was achieved by, first, the black-and-white signals on the stimulation screen synchronized with the problem presentation and the answer request, second, the photodetectors sensing the signals. The proposed method offers easy design of purpose-specific system only by adding simple modules (reaction time measurement, synchronization) to the ready-made stimulation and EEG system, and therefore, it is expected to accelerate the researches requiring the measurement of evoked response and reaction time.

The present study has extended OpenSees, which is an open-source software framework DOS program for developing applications to idealize geotechnical and structural problems, for the static analysis of axial load capacity and settlement of single piles in MS Windows environment. The Windows version of OpenSees as improved by this study has enhanced the DOS version from a general purpose software program to a special purpose program for driven and bored pile analysis with additional features of pre-processing and post-processing and a user friendly graphical interface. The method used in the load capacity analysis is the numerical methods based on load transfer functions combined with finite elements. The use of empirical nonlinear T-z and Q-z load transfer curves to model soil-pile interaction in skin friction and end bearing, respectively, has been shown to capture the nonlinear soil-pile response under settlement due to load. Validation studies have shown the static load capacity and settlement predictions implemented in this study are in fair agreement with reference data from the static loading tests.

In this study, we compared the use of information and communications technology (ICT) by middle school teachers in Korea and other countries utilizing the teacher survey data of the IEA International Computer and Information Literacy Study (ICILS) 2013. The ICILS target population consisted of all students in the eighth grade. We compared Korea with Australia, the Czech Republic, Norway, and Poland, which are nations showing the highest achievements in computer and information literacy. We selected nine questions from the teacher questionnaire and divided them into the categories of computer use, use of ICT for teaching and learning, and the ICT support environment in school. In comparison to their counterparts in other countries, Korean middle school science teachers used computers frequently and also had high ICT self-efficacy. They were confident in their ability to use computers for general tasks, but not in their ability to use computers for teaching and learning. The Korean teachers also had a high percentage of utilization of presentation and graphics software. Also, the proportion of activities concerning the information provided and teacher-led tasks was high, but the proportion of activities for student collaboration or peer interaction was low. In Korea, middle school science teachers had more negative than positive views of using ICT in teaching and learning. The teachers thought that computer-related resource support and digital learning materials were insufficient and that the computer model was outdated in schools. Therefore, we propose to build an ICT infrastructure and to develop and disseminate ICT teaching and learning methods for student activities.
Recently, many people want to know their state of health, such as a body fat rate, anywhere and anytime. The Personal Digital Assistance(PDA) is the portable wireless apparatus that has become widely popular. There are many application areas of the IDA to be in mobile care devices. In this study, we developed the PDA based body fat measurement system, composed of a cradle type measurement module and a WindowCE operated software module, a regression equation for predicting lean body mass (LBM). Sixty-three weight-stable subjects (53 men, 10 women) aged 20∼32yr participated in this study. A regression model, LBM = (0.0005*Height2 - 0.0160*Impedance + 0.3920*Weight - 0.0684*Age - 5.8141*Sex + 25.984, was found. The correlation coefficient( r) of body fat rate between developed system and HTM1000plus(BionetTM) was 0.928. HTM1000plus is a commercially available and approved by KFDA. These results indicated that developed system is reliable for estimation of body fat rate. Although developed system is the PDA based miniaturized, it shows good performance comparing with other commercial product.

All pixels of image sensor do not react uniformly even if the light of same radiance enters into the camera. This non-uniformity comes from the sensor pixel non-uniformity and non-uniformity induced by the changing transmission of the telescope over the field. The first contribution to the non-uniformity has high spatial frequency nature and has an influence on the result and quality of the data compression. The second source of non-uniformity has low frequency nature and has no influence of the compression result. As the contribution resulting from the sensor PRNU(Photo Response Non-Uniformity) is corrected inside the camera electronics, the effect of the remaining non-uniformity to the compression result will be negligible. The non-uniformity correction result shall have big difference according to the sensor modeling and the calculation method to get correction coefficient. Usually, the sensor can be modeled with one dimensional coefficients which are a gain and a offset for each pixel. Only two measurements are necessary theoretically to get coefficients. However, these are not the optimized value over the whole illumination level. This paper proposes the algorithm to calculate the optimized non-uniformity correction coefficients over whole illumination radiance. The proposed algorithm uses several measurements and the least square method to get the optimum coefficients. The proposed algorithm is verified using the own camera electronics including sensor, electrical test equipment and optical test equipment such as the integrating sphere.

In this paper, we implemented the sign board system that displays user's image, user's sentence, the information from DARC an[1 information based position by GPS module for vehicle. The existing sign board is displaying only user's image and sentence. Or other existing sign board is displaying the information via CDMA network. However, our system is also able to display the user's message like other system and gain the information more cheap by DARC. This system consists of 6 parts. The DARC control part classes the DARC information - news, weather, stock and time. The GPS control part gains moment and item to display with calculating the information of global position, direction, speed and satellite. The LED control part has two buffers to store and handle the image. The buffers help the system display various effected images on LED board. An external memory card includes the location based data, the option file and the displayed data files. The data files are stored by FAT 16 with the folder structure on external memory card. The USB controls the communication with PC. PC programs can control and monitor this system. This system is using G72l voice file format, for casting the information. This system was established at the vehicle and we monitored this system. The system displayed the DARC data , user's data and the location based data on the LED board, successfully.

When developing an android mobile application the androids intent is used as a mechanism to send messages between local equipment of androids application inner part and other applications. But the androids intent does not support sending messages via each android products intent. If there is a way to support each androids equipments to send messages, it will be easier to make non-stopping services. Non-stopping service is used when the user is using the android to do word or searching services and suddenly changes to a different android product but still maintains the progress what was currently being done without waiting the programs to be loaded. It is possible to send messages to each android products by using the socket, but the connection must be maintained stably which is the weak point. In this paper, I am suggesting a BRIF(Broadcasting Remote Intent Framework) framework to send messages to different android products. BRIF is a framework that uses the Googles C2DM service which services asynchronous transmissions to different android products. This is organized with the C2DM server, RemoteContext Api, web server and RISP(Remote Intent Service Provider) which is will be easy to be used for the developers since there are no big changes for coding compared to the intent code.

With the advance of Internet Technology, various social network services are created and used by users. Especially, the use of smart devices makes that multimedia contents can be used and distributed on social network services. However, since the crime rate also is increased by users with illegal purposes, there are needs to protect contents and block illegal usage of contents with multimedia forensics. In this paper, we propose a multimedia forensic technique which is identifying the video source. First, the scheme to acquire the sensor pattern noise (SPN) using morphology filtering is presented, which comes from the imperfection of photon detector. Using this scheme, the SPN of reference videos from the reference device is estimated and the SPN of an unknown video is estimated. Then, the similarity between two SPNs is measured to identify whether the unknown video is acquired using the reference device. For the performance analysis of the proposed technique, 30 devices including DSLR camera, compact camera, camcorder, action cam and smart phone are tested and quantitatively analyzed. Based on the results, the proposed technique can achieve the 96% accuracy in identification.

The emergent information society requires the talent for creative thinking based on problem-solving skills and comprehensive thinking rather than simple memorization. Therefore, the Korean curriculum has also changed into the direction of the creative thinking through increasing short-answer questions that can determine the overall thinking of the students. However, their scoring results are a little bit inconsistency because scoring short-answer questions depends on the subjective scoring of human raters. In order to alleviate this point, an automated scoring system using a machine learning has been used as a scoring tool in overseas. Linguistically, Korean and English is totally different in the structure of the sentences. Thus, the automated scoring system used in English cannot be applied to Korean. In this paper, we introduce an automated scoring system for Korean short-answer questions using predictability and unanimity. We also verify the practicality of the automatic scoring system through the correlation coefficient between the results of the automated scoring system and those of human raters. In the experiment of this paper, the proposed system is evaluated for constructed-response items of Korean language, social studies, and science in the National Assessment of Educational Achievement. The analysis was used Pearson correlation coefficients and Kappa coefficient. Results of the experiment had showed a strong positive correlation with all the correlation coefficients at 0.7 or higher. Thus, the scoring results of the proposed scoring system are similar to those of human raters. Therefore, the automated scoring system should be found to be useful as a scoring tool.
