An Empirical Study on the Activation of Small Group Activities (소집단활동(小集團活動)의 활성화(活性化)에 관한 실증적(實證的) 연구(硏究))

  • Small group activity in Korea was introduced from the United States as QC circle, ZD group movements and the like, but it has developed into a Korean style from so-called factory saemaul panel activities contributing much to the management of enterprises. Based on human motivation theory, the principles to activate small group activity is suggested on which a new diagnosis of small group activity is proposed here. It is consisted of checklist and radarchart. The factor to activate small group activity have been obtained in terms of multivariate analysis for data from the new diagnosis.

A Case Study on the Learning Characteristics of Science-Gifted Students in Jeonnam Province -Focused on Verbal and Nonverbal Interactions in Small Group- (과학영재 학생의 학습 특성에 관한 사례연구 -소집단에서의 언어적, 비언어적 상호작용을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate gifted students' verbal-nonverbal interactions in small grouped classes and to classify them into characteristics. For this study, an instrument to measure gifted student's verbal-nonverbal interactions was developed. The subjects were 16 students of 5th and 6th grades at H-area gifted center in rural area. Video recorded was classified each 5minutes by researchers. The results were as follows; First, verbal interactions were about 27% and non-verbal interactions were about 73%. Activities unrelated to learning were about 20%. Second, high achievement gifted students enjoyed verbal interactions including discussions. Third, gifted students can be classified 3 types(Spoken-centered, Written-centered and Played-centered) by interactions. The results revealed that gifted student's verbal-nonverbal interactions played an important role in communication between students and teacher as well as students. Small-grouped instructions according to characteristic and levels of gifted students are needed in gifted science education.

The Effects of Small-Group Mathematical Word Problem Activity with Concrete Materials on 5 Years Old Children's Mathematical Abilities and Attitudes (구체물을 이용한 소집단 문장제 수학활동이 유아의 수학 능력과 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of small-group arithmetic word problem activities with concrete materials on 5 year old children's mathematical ability and attitude. Methods: A total of 34 five-year-old children (control group 16 children, experimental group18 children) attending two kindergartens in P city participated in this study. Fifteen small-group arithmetic word problem activities with concrete materials were conducted in the classroom of the experimental group twice a week for eight weeks. Before and after the activities, all the participants individually took a basic arithmetic test, mathematical word problem solving test, and mathematical attitudes test. Results: First, we observed that the children in the experimental group achieved significantly higher scores on the mathematical ability tests, including the basic arithmetic test and mathematical word problems solving test when compared to the children in the control group. Second, we also found that children in the experimental group showed higher improvement in the mathematical attitudes test than their counterparts. Conclusion/Implications: The results of this study suggest that small-group arithmetic word problem activities with concrete materials are effective in improving children's mathematical ability and attitudes.

  • This research studied loaming model for the purpose of renovation of mathematics teaching methods. Especially, this research classified the types of cooperative teaming, the theoretical background for cooperative learning, the need of cooperative learning in school mathematics, and the differences between cooperative teaming and traditional small group learning. This research also suggested special features of cooperative learning and various types of cooperative learning models. The main types of cooperative loaming which this research supported are TAI(Team-Assisted Individualization, JIGSAW cooperative loaming, JIGSAW II cooperative teaming, JIGSAW III cooperative teaming, STAD(Student Team-Achievement division) cooperative learning, and TGT (Teams - Games - Tournament).

The Effects of the Small Group Collaborative Learning Strategy using Smart Devices in Elementary School Science Classes (초등 과학 수업에서 스마트 기기를 활용한 소집단 협력 학습의 효과)

  • In this study, the effects of the small group collaborative learning on students' achievement, the retention of the achievement, communication anxiety, and science learning motivation were investigated. The aptitude-treatment interaction between the level of students' self-directed learning ability and the intervention was also examined. Two classes (38 students) from an elementary school were respectively assigned to a control group and a treatment group. A self-directed learning ability test, a communication anxiety test, and a science learning motivation test were administered as pretests. The intervention lasted for 8 class periods. After instruction, an achievement test, the communication anxiety test, and the science learning motivation test were administered. An achievement retention test were also administered after four weeks. The results indicated that there were significant treatmentaptitude interaction effects in the achievement test scores and the achievement retention test scores. In the communication anxiety and the science learning motivation, however, any significant difference was not found between the scores of the treatment group and the control group. Educational implications are discussed.

Revision of the early-onset periodontitis into the homogeneous phenotypic subsets (조기발병형 치주염의 균질성 표현형 소집단으로의 재분류)

  • The present study has been performed to revise the forms of early-onset periodontitis(EOP) into the homogeneous phenotypic subsets by cluster analysis using sets of clinical parameters. Retrospective radiographic interproximal alveolar bone levels were measured from cemento-enamel junctions on patients who have previously been diagnosed as having one of EOP during last 5 years. Mean interproximal bone levels(BL) and mesial bone level(Ratio) of 1st molars relative to mean interproximal bone levels of adjacent teeth(lst and 2nd premolars and canines)were calculated on each patient. Using parameters BL and Ratio(BR group) or BL, Ratio and age(BRA group), cluster analysis was performed to revise EOP patients into homogeneous subsets. At least three or four cluster could be homogeneously formed both in BR or BRA groups with statistically significant differences in parameters used among clusters as evidenced by MANOVA test. It was shown that the greater the BL, the smaller the Ratio was. It was also evident that mean interproximal bone levels were lowest aroud 1st molars and/or incisors regardless of cluster types. The results has provided cluster-based studies for identifying laboratory markers responsible for the development of EOP subsets.

  • In this paper, first of all, the driving performance of QCCs(Quality Control Circles) that are stagnant during 10 years are reviewed. And the usage realities and utilization degree of quality improvement tools in the domestic activities of QCCs are empirically analyzed into size of company and type of business. Thus, this empirical study compares the results of past period in 1997${\sim}$1999 with the results of 6 sigma non-adapting period in 2000${\sim}$2003 through examining the collections of presentation for Korea Quality Control Circle Meetings. Also, according to the introduction of 6 sigma in QCCs activities the difference of utilization degree for quality improvement tools are analyzed to compare the results of 6 sigma non-adapting period in 2000${\sim}$2003 with the results of 6 sigma adapting period in 2004${\sim}$2006. Finally, the utilization degree of 6 sigma tools which follow the driving steps of 6 sigma, DMAIC, are analyzed.

A Study on Quality Factors of Web Enabled Collective Intelligence as a Donor for Business Success (기업성과 향상을 위한 웹기반 집단지성의 품질요인에 관한 연구)

  • 비즈니스 조직에서 집단지성을 경쟁우위의 중요한 요소로 활용하는 사례가 증가하고 있다. 인터넷과 소셜 네트워크 서비스는 물론이고 위키와 같은 편집도구 등은 집단지성을 가능하게 하는 대표적인 정보기술이다. 그러나 집단지성은 전문가 지식에서와는 다른 품질의 문제가 제기되기도 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 집단지성의 품질에 영향을 주는 요인을 분석하는데 그 목적이 있다. 선행연구를 통해 집단지성의 품질에 영향을 주는 개인의 동기(love, money, glory, professional development), 집단특성(expertise, diversity, size), 집단지성의 도구(navigating, usefulness, agility, user preference) 차원에서 총 11개의 영향요인을 파악하였다. 조직 경쟁우위의 핵심으로 집단지성을 활용하는 대표적인 성공사례인 Threadless, InnoCentive, iStockphoto, Panda Security, Wikipedia를 분석하여 3개 차원에서 11개의 명제를 제안하였다. 사례분석의 결과, 개인의 동기, 집단특성, 집단지성을 위한 도구는 집단지성의 품질에 긍정적 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 예를 들어, 개인적 동기가 뚜렷하고 다양한 특성을 지닌 다수가 참여할수록 소집단에서보다 더 잘 문제를 해결하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 따라서 집단지성의 품질을 개선하고 이를 통해 혜택을 얻기 위해서 조직에서는 다양성을 지닌 대규모 커뮤니티를 구성하고, 참여에 대한 동기를 부여하고, 적절한 집단지성의 도구를 선택하여 활용하여야 한다.

  • As ubiquitous computing is evolving, RFID/USN technology is largely applied to various fields. Although there has been much research on the improvement of educational environment using RFID/USN technology, there has been little research on the learning improvement using it. So, in this paper, we used RFID/USN technology to find out the location and situation of students for Chinese situation learning system. We developed a mobile RFID middleware for Chinese situation learning system reflecting Chinese characteristics compared with English on PDA. In USN environment, we designed a USN system, which gets the situation information through a sensor network with sensors and sends them for helping learners study in situation learning. We took a pilot test to a small group for the analysis of the system.

  • Through the industrialization since 1960, Korean housing has been developed in a uniform way which is to demolish first and then construct from the scratch. In this process, detached houses and multi-family living detached houses have disappeared without being paid much attention. The detached houses with blood or non-blood related multi-family living situations are typically popular, and worthy enough to explore for professionals right and creative solutions to enhance their values. But many of the people suffered for the expenses and the absence of the idea to enhance their housing themselves. The purpose of this research is to clarify user's demands of developing an adaptable lifespan house and to try to find the solution about the expenses of self improvement. This study used a Small group workshop Panel Method. The workshop consisted of three stage, such as the awareness of their existing residence and lease status, the needs of the housing improvements and the demands of the adaptable house. This study is expected to serve as a fundamental data to promote discussion on reuse of existing residence building and to promote rental detached houses.
