A Novel Asymmetric Vertical Directional Coupler Switch (비대칭 수직 방향성 결합기 스위치)

  • We propose a novel ultra-short asymmetric vertical directional coupler switch (VDCS) with high extinction ratios larger than 30㏈ composed of switching operation induced section (SOIS), extinction ratio adjusted section (ERAS), and extinction ratio enhanced section (ERES). In this VDCSs, switching operation is achieved by changing the refractive index of one core in SOIS. The improvement of extinction ratios larger than 30㏈ for both cross and bar states is achieved by controlling the asymmetry of refractive indices between both cores in ERES. After propagating through ERAS with symmetry in the structure, different extinction ratios between cross and bar states at the end of SOIS are changed to the same value. For this reason, the optimum asymmetry of the refractive indices of cores to have the maximum extinction ratios and the lengths of ERES are the same for cross and bar states. Design guidelines to achieve high extinction ratios with large tolerances are presented.

  • Fused vertical directional coupler switches (FVCSs) with switching operation induced section (SOIS) and extinction ratio enhanced section (ERES) are proposed. In these FVCSs, switching operation is achieved by changing the refractive indices of both cores in SOIS and improvement of extinction ratios larger than 30dB for both cross and bar states is achieved by controlling the asymmetry of refractive indices between both cores in ERES. In addition, the design guidelines to have high extinction ratios larger than 30dB with large tolerances of the refractive index of cores are presented.

  • 주가가 장기기억과정에 의하여 생성되면 주가과정에 가해진 충격은 쌍곡선감소율로 소멸한다. 따라서 충격의 영향이 대단히 느리게 감소하여 충격이 지속성을 가진다. 반면 주가가 단기 기억과정을 따르면 지수율로 감소하여 소멸한다. 지수율감소는 충격의 영향을 급속히 소멸시키므로 충격의 영향이 조만간 소멸한다. 따라서 충격으로 변화된 주가는 평균으로 회귀한다. 충격의 영향이 영원히 존재하는 과정도 존재한다. 장기기억과정은 쪽거리차분과정 또는 분수차분과정이다. 차분모수가 분수일 것이 요구되는 시계열은 장기기억과정이다. 주가가 장기기억과정에 의하여 생성되고 있는지의 여부를 검정하였다. 장기기억과정을 형성시키는 차분모수는 분수차분모수이다. 일별 주가지수의 수익률을 사용하여 차분모수를 추정하였는 바 그 값이 0에 근접하고 있음이 밝혀졌다. 그러나 Kospi, Nasdaq과 Mib30은 장기기억모수가 0에 접근하고 있으나 0이 아니다. 따라서 이 지수들은 장기기억과정에 의하여 생성된다고 할 수 있다. 반면 Dow Jones, S&P 500와 Dax는 장기기억모수가 0이라는 가설이 기각되지 않고 있어 이 지수들은 단기기억과정을 따르고 있다. 따라서 평균회귀과정에 의하여 생성되고 있음을 알 수 있다.

Studies on the Selection of Microorganism for Food Wastes and Optimization of Fermentation Process (음식물찌꺼기 소멸효율 재고를 위한 발효균 및 발효 공정 최적화 연구)

  • For the effective disposal of organic food wastes, we seleted 4 strains of microorganism from 186 microbial candidate via enzyme activity test, salt tolerance, food decomposition rate, stability and safety of strains. The identity of these 4 strains are as follows : Fungi is Rhizopus sp., yeasts are Galactomyces sp., Pichia sp. and Hyphopichia sp., In the 50L fermenter scale, we tested various fermenting factor for the optimization of conditions of food waste decomposition using 4 selected strains. The optimum fomenting conditions were as follows : BIO-CHIP Volume 25-30 L, BIO CHIP size 2.0-6.0mm, air flow 200-280L/min, mixing intensity 2-4rpm, temperature $30-45^{\circ}C$. In these fermenting conditions, the efficiency of decomposition(rate of weight loss of food wastes) were 93%. Also the quality of fermenting output were assayed at the basis of fertilizer, and the results were as good as general compost.

Evaluation of Fermentation Extinction Rate of Food Waste according to the Various Types of Wood Chip with Different Pore Structures (목질세편 세공구조에 따른 음식물쓰레기의 발효·소멸효율 평가)

  • Various types of bio wood chip for fermentation-extinction of food waste was investigated by comparing their different pore structure with the performance of weight loss rate and microbial activity. The fermentation-extinction of food waste with bio wood chip was examined by adding 700~1,500g of food waste every day during 15 days to the fermentation-extinction reactor with condition of $30{\sim}50^{\circ}C$ temperature and 30~70% humidity, where 1,500g of bio wood chips were existed. The bio wood chips used in this experiment were categorized into 4 different types; microbial-mixing type(A biochip), macro pore type(B biochip) under $2{\mu}m$ of pore size, micro pore type of wood-chips(C biochip) under $0.1{\mu}m$ of pore size, viscous & sticky type(D biochip). As a result, A, B, C, D bio wood chip exhibited 85%, 63%, 92%, 73% weight loss of food waste with fermentation-extinction. The maximum weight loss of food waste was obtained at the fermentation-extinction experiments by using C bio wood chip. On the other hands, the maximum ratio of ATP to COD and TN was obtained from $3.00{\times}10^{-10}$ and $2.31{\times}10^{-11}$ in the case of C bio wood chip, comparing with other types of bio wood chip. Consequently, the performance of weight loss rate was affected with the micro pore structure of bio wood chip which have an advantage of extensive microbial activity space in the fermentation-extinction of food waste.

  • The reflection coefficients of monochromatic waves propagating over a shelf with varying dimensions are theoretically calculated. The diffraction of waves by an abrupt depth change is formulated by the eigenfunction expansion method. Not only propagating mode but also evanescent modes are considered in formulation. The role of evanescent modes in reflection coefficients is investigated in detail. Water waves are obliquely as well as normally incident to the region. The obtained reflection coefficients are verified by checking conservation of wave energy.

  • We show that the extinction ratio is improved using slight asymmetry in two core refractive indices of polarization independent very short vertical directional couplers with the double-sided deep-ridge (DSDR) waveguide structure. The optimum asymmetry with the maximum extinction ratio and the tolerance of the refractive index of core with the extinction ratio larger 1ha]1 30 ㏈ increase as the thickness of inner cladding layer and the two cores decrease due to the increase of the coupling strength between the two cores. Also, the device length and the tolerance of the device length with the extinction ratio larger than 30 ㏈ decrease as the thickness of the inner cladding layer and the two cores decrease due to the increase of the coupling strength between the two cores. We show that polarization independent vertical directional couplers with the DSDR waveguide structure with the device length less than 100 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and the extinction ratio larger than 30 ㏈ could be implemented.

  • In this paper, I investigate job creation and destruction in Korean mining and manufacturing between 1982 and 2000 using the raw data of Annual Mining and Manufacturing Survey. The rate of job creation and destruction of continuing plants averaged 9.75 and 10.33, respectively, which are higher than those of OECD countries, Chile, and Colombia. The created jobs showed weak persistence and the concentration of job reallocation is high, compared with other countries. Job reallocation accounts for major fraction of worker reallocation and the fraction has increased before 1997. Analysis of time series data of job flow revealed a general pattern of pro-cyclic job creation and counter-cyclic job destruction. However job reallocation in Korea is strongly acyclic whereas the rate is known to be counter-cyclical in the U.S.

  • Ultrafast carrier dynamics of LT-GaAs semiconductors was investigated by using time-resolved photoreflectance spectroscopy. We can see that decay dynamics of photoreflectance generated by carriers depends strongly on the excitation wavelength due to the structure distortion of LT-GaAs semiconductors. Ultrafast trapping of excited carriers into deep trap states gives rise to transient photoreflectance decays with a lifetime shorter than 1 ps. Also, the long-lived photoreflectance is attributed to the carriers trapped deeply at point defects. fects.

  • The overall indicator of microbial activity in the fermentation-extinction reaction of food waste by using bio wood-chips were investigated by considering adenosine tri-phosphate(ATP). Degradation rate of organic compounds, which was represented by chemical oxygen demand(COD) and total nitrogen(TN), was increased with the concentration of adenosine tri-phosphate during fermentation-extinction reaction of food waste by using bio-wood chips. With this view, the ATP would be one of the overall evaluation indicator of organic degradation in the species of bio-wood chip for the fermentation-extinction of food waste.
