A handoff call require more high QoS than that of a new call to satisfy continuity of communication on cellular networks. In case of a handoff call, after start connection of communication, the handoff call moves among cells. Therefore, Blocking of handoff call provides more bad service to respect to user. In this paper, we propose a 3 states guard channel schem to provide a stable environment of communication for a handoff call. The proposed scheme assigns the number of usable channels discriminatorily by distinguishing between of a new call and a handoff call. This scheme can reduce a handoff call blocking probability and improvement QoS of cellular networks. In this scheme, a handoff call classify by a partial handoff call and a full handoff call according to their handoff probability otherwise known as a previous guard scheme.
Because of its exponential growth of data and voice transmissions through wireless communications, efficient resource management became more important factor when we design wireless networks. One of those limited resources in the wireless communications is frequency bandwidth. As a solution of increasing reusability of resources, the efficient frequency assignment problems on wireless networks have been widely studied. One suitable approach to solve these frequency assignment problems is transforming the problem into traditional graph coloring problems in graph theory. However, most of frequency assignments on arbitrary network topology are NP-Complete problems. In this paper, we consider the Chromatic Bandwidth Problem on the cellular topology wireless networks. It is known that the lower bound of the necessary number of frequencies for this problem is $O(k^2)$. We prove that the lower bound of the necessary number of frequencies for the Chromatic Bandwidth Problem is $O(k^3)$ which is tighter lower bound than the previous known result.

In recent, the demand of mobile communication system is increasing rapidly. However, since wireless resources is limitted, the protocol to utilize wireless resource efficiently is needed. Up to now, Slotted CDMA_ALOHA(S_CDMA_ALOHA) and Mini-Slotted CDMA_ALOHA(MS_CDMA_ALOHA) methods are proposed as a CDMA_ALOHA mechanism, and it is turned out that MS_CDMA_ALOHA offers betterperformance than S_CDMA_ALOHA mechanism. Also, IS-95 multiple access mechanism has been proposed as common air interface(CAI) protocol of CDMA digital cellular system. However, in former study, the performance evaluations were made without considertion of chnnel characteristics of wireless communication environment. In this paper, a new access mechanism for improring the performance in the DS/CDMA digital cellular environment is suggested. This mechanism is adaptive to the channel condition and based on the conventional MS_CDMA_ALOHA mechanism. Also, the performance of new access mechanism is compared with that of conventional mechanisms, through computer simulation. According tot h simulation results, it is shown that the proposed NA_CDMA_ALOHA(Noise-Adaptation CDMA_ALOHA) mechanism offers better performance than conventional three CDMA_ALOHA mechanisms in view of mean delay time and system throughput characteristics. This phenomenon is due to the fast that NA_CDMA_ALOHA mechanism controls the access attempts efficiently based on the channel condition in heavy traffic environments.

For recent years, the environment of use on internet has been changed from the wired internet access to the wireless internet access increasingly, and the use of real time application data has been increased. Therefore the research and evolution of wireless network for providing of user's mobility and QoS at the same time must be essential. IETF already proposed Mobile IPv6 for providing mobility and RSVP for QoS through resource reservation. These future are expected to be used not only wired network but also wireless network. But there are not yet proposed the integration and efficient interworking of two mechanism. For the solution of problem on efficient interworking issue, for instance signaling overhead and reservation delay increasing due to often handoff, this paper first proposed to use of IETF Cellular IP based on Mobile IPv6 for wireless network model with fast mobility and a improved RSVP mechanism using the flow label field in IPv6 header.

In this paper, using newly proposed size reduction technique, the aperture coupled microstrip patch antenna for a repeater system in a mobile communication cellular band (824~849 MHz) is developed with a wide bandwidth, small size, light weight, and low cost. The resonant frequency of microstrip antennas is related to the electric field distribution of the radiating patch. The field strength of $TM_{01}$ mode of a rectangular patch antenna is strongest at each of the extremities of the radiating patch, but negligible at center. Therefore, the size of a patch antenna can be effectively minimized by inserting the narrow rectangular dielectric into just under the edges of the resonant Patch. This Paper also proposes the bandwidth improvement technique by using under-coupling technique with a tuning stub. The VSWR is less than 1.5 : 1 for the whole cellular band. The simulation tool was HFSS, Agilent Technologies, Inc.
In this paper, we propose a lava flow simulation program to predict the range of lava flows area and thickness of lava flows during volcanic eruptions. The map information is represented as a 'cell' with observed values per fixed area such as DEM and a lava flow prediction algorithm using a cellular automata model is performed to predict the flow of lava flows. To obtain quantitative data of lava flows, fluid properties of lava flows are defined as Bingham plastic fluid and derived equation is applied to the rules of cellular automata. To verify the program, we use a 30m resolution DEM provided by USGS. We compared simulation results with real lava flows for the Pu'u'O'o crater area in Hawaii, which has erupted since May 24, 2016.

In this paper, we study the characteristics of dual band microstrip antenna with the wedge-shaped radiation patch added the slot using air substrate. Wedge-shaped patch antenna with air substrate is avoided the large probe reactance associated with a thick substrate owing to the use of short probe and good impedance matching over a wide frequency range can be obtained. Slot on the antenna radiator varies the reactance component according to the employed frequency and affect the resonance freaqency of the antenna, therefore the antenna can resonate at the dual band(cellular and PCS band). The slot length and position have an effect on the bandwidth and input impedance of the antenna are optimized by simulation. From the experiment results for the fabricated antenna, -10 dB of $S_{11}$ is content with the allocated bandwidth of Cellular and PCS system and - 15 dB of cross polarization level. From the results of this paper, it has been confirmed that the proposed antenna can be used as the base station antenna fur Cellular and PCS band.

In OFDMA-based cellular system, inter-cell interference (ICI) reduces system capacity by aggravating receiving performance of the users located in edge of the cell. Therefore, to mitigate ICI is very important issue in cellular system. To deal with ICI problem, fractional frequency reuse (FFR) is introduced. FFR is an interference management technique. It separates each cell into inner cell and outer cell. Then, it allocates whole system bandwidth to inner cell and different frequency partition to each sector of outer cell. By doing this, outer cell users can ignore interferences from adjacent cells. So, the receiving performance of the cell edge users can be fairly increased. However, using FFR technique has a fatal side effect. In order to use different frequency partition among three sectors of outer cell, they can use only a third of the whole system bandwidth. Then, the reduction of available bandwidth reduces the system throughput directly. To solve this problem, we propose a new FFR method that allocates partially overlapped frequency partition to each sector of outer cell. And then, we suggest a proper overlapping ratio for practical cellular system.

In this paper, we propose a sender-based TCP congestion control scheme for downward vertical handover (DVHO), in which mobile node moves from a cellular network to a wireless LAN. DVHO can give rise to severe performance problems in TCP throughput because it causes a drastic change of link characteristics. Particularly, TCP executes falsely congestion control by packet reordering, which is occurred from link delay difference between a cellular link and a wireless LAN link. Therefore, the congestion window is reduced. And unnecessary retransmissions wastes bandwidth. To solve these problems, we propose a method using estimated round-trip time in cellular link to process duplicated ACKs from reordering. Furthermore, the duplicated ACKs are used to the control congestion window size. Simulation result shows that the proposed scheme can solve problems. Moreover, the proposed scheme can have better performance than TCP New Reno and nodupack.

Since the smart phone was first introduced, the amount of mobile traffic has increased explosively. The OTT service with personal broadcasting and TV contents and the number of users have been increased in wired network, and there are needs to expand the OTT service to mobile network. In the case of the OTT service in mobile network, the relative small and finite resource may cause the overload of the network due to the massive and high transfer rate. In this paper, we consider a future situation of the OTT user services in the cellular network and propose a novel D2D communication scheme for location-based OTT service, which can reduce and distribute the amount of video traffics. To effectively handle the traffic of OTT services, we propose D2DS and LCS functional blocks in EPC network, which can provide location-based service and D2D management. And, we suggest additional procedures for the location-based service of both content provider and contents receiver UEs with the operation of the proposed D2DS and LCS function block.
