The combination of early heading time, maturing time and short grain-filling period is very important to develop early varieties in winter barley. The 4 parental half diallel crosses (parents, $F_1$s, $F_2$s) were cultivated at the field. The heading date was from April 3 to 26, maturing date from May 15 to 27 and grain-filling period from 31 days to 42 days, showing that the varietal differences about the 3 traits were remarkable. According to half diallel cross analyses, Dongbori 1 for heading time (late heading) was dominant, but Oweolbori (early heading) was recessive, showing partial dominance with high additive component of genetic variance. Dongbori 1 for maturing time was dominant, but Oweolbori was recessive, showing partial dominance with high additive variance. Reno for grain-filling period (short grain-filling period) was dominant, but Oweolbori (long grain-filling period) was recessive with additive, and partial dominance. There were highly significant mean squares for both GCA and SCA effects on the heading and maturing times, and GCA/SCA ratios for all traits were high, showing the additive gene effects more important. Sacheon 6 and Oweolbori had greater GCA effects for early heading and maturing times, and Dongbori 1 and Reno had greater GCA effects for late times. GCA effects were highly significant in $F_1$ and $F_2$ generations, showing high GCA/SCA ratios (7.02). The heading and maturing times in field were positively correlated with antifreeze proteins concentrations, accumulation, resistance to photoinhibition and winter survival, respectively) but the grain-filling period did negatively correlated with the trails.
Unlike general public investment projects, when it comes to environmental public investment projects, there is a gap between those who pay the costs, and those who receive the benefits. This is because of the long term nature of environmental investments, which entails that the majority of the costs are paid by the current generation, while the benefits are reaped by future generations. Because of this, when the social discount rate is set at a standard, singular rate, an issue of relative underestimation of the benefits reaped by future generations may occur during the analytic process. This paper begins with the recognition of this problem, and attempts to estimate a suitable social discount rate that can be applied to environmental investment projects. Taking into account recent economic situations, the social discount rate is currently being estimated at between 2.9 ~ 4.9%. Also, this paper used preliminary feasibility studies that took place so far, to analyze the standard pattern of benefit generation. This revealed that alterations in social discount rates can bring significant changes in economic feasibility test results. Simulation results showed that roughly 6% of B/C ratios could be increased by 1%p. resulting in a decrease in social discount rates. Also if we use hyperbolic discount rates, instead of using the current singular rate, there would be a meaningful increase in the benefits for the future generation.
Adaptation of Anisopteromalus calandrae maintained on rice weevil (Sitophilus oryzae) to an alternative host, adzuki bean weevil (Callosobruchus chinensis) was studied. A. calandrae required two generations to adapt to the adzuki been weevil. Through the adaptation, the mean($\pm$SEM) life span of th females became shorter $8.7\pm$1.3 days at the first generation to $6.9\pm$0.6 days at the second generation. Number of eggs laid per female increased from 29.3$\pm$7.7 to $68.2\pm$6.5. Consequently intrinsic rate of natural increase and net reproductive rate were increased. The generation time and population doubling time were decreased. The searching efficiency based on functional and numerical response of A. calandrae to the adzuki bean weevil were similar to each other, but the coefficient of variation decreased with the generation, suggesting that searching efficiency became stable when the parasitoid adapted to adzuki bean weevil. No time lag was required for A. calandrae adapted to the adzuki bean weevil to adapt again to th rice weevil and the searching efficiency of the parasitoid remained on a similar level for the first generation on.

We decided the efficient application timings of organo-synthetic insecticides for controlling the first generation larvae of O. furnacalis through investigations of insect stage-specific densities, damage aspects in maize, and effects of insecticides. A waxy maize cultivar, Ilmichal, was cultivated from April 20 (sowing) to July 26 (harvest, dough stage of maize) in Suwon, 2016. The maximum and 50% cumulative catch dates of the overwintering generation adults in the sex pheromone trapping were May 29 and May 31, respectively. Most of the first generation larvae finished their occurrence till the early reproductive stage of maize. The first generation larvae fed on leaves inside the whorl leaves before tassel and stem development of maize, sequentially moved to tassel and stem, and then moved finally to stem and ear parts. In the results of insecticide applications at different dates, the 9-11 leaf stage (June 10~17) and the 6-7 leaf stage (June 3) of maize were the most efficient application timings for direct spray of Etofenprox EC to maize, and for application of Carbofuran granules onto soil surface, respectively, which resulted in suppression of tunnelling damages. The timings for the two insecticides were 12-19 days and 5 days after the adult maximum catch date, respectively. Those timings after the 50% cumulative adult catch date were advanced 2 days.
During the period from April to October, 1998 the authors investigated the gall development process of Chinese gallnuts (Schelchtendalia chinensis) on sumac (Rhus javanica) at Mt. Goduk near Chonju city in Chonbuk province. The majority (56.8%) of chinese gallnuts were formed on first pinnates and 24.3% on second pinnates of sumac leaves. Galls began to form from the 1st of June and grew slowly until the 24th of June. Galls enlarged rapidly after the 1st of August, but their growth rates decreased after the 26th of August and stopped growing after the 8th of September. Alate viviparous females escaped from galls after the 24th of September. Fundatricies, the second generation in the galls, exuviated three times to become adults on the 24th of June. Fundatrix adults bore 1∼10 eggs in the body and laid 1∼16 nymphs of the second generation. Nymphs of the second generation began to appear on the 17th of June and had matured completely on the 14th∼24th of July. Adults of the second generation bore eggs in the body. Thus the developmental period of the second generation was 27∼37 days. Nymphs of the third generation appeared on the 14th of July and finally alate viviparous females were developed on the 24th of September. During the two months from the beginning of the third generation to the appearence of the final alate viviparous females, there should be at least two generations, that is, the third and fourth generations. The fourth generation seems to begin at about the 20th August because the number of inhabitants (2,859 individuals) in galls on the 26 th of August had increased more than 10 times those (263 individuals) on the 19 th of August. The tannin content of galls was 65.04∼68.23% while that of sumac leaves and stems was 11.56%, 3.49% respectively.
An Investigation of insect pests in rice stored was carried out in Jeonnam region of Korea. The total of 2 class, 7 orders 16 families and 25 species were recorded in Lepidoptera; 8, Coleoptera; 11, Orthoptera; 1, Thysanura 1, blattaria; 2, Hymenoptera; 1 and mites; 2 spe-cies. The important species among them were Sitotroga cerealella, Ephestia cautella, Paral-ipsa gularis, Poldia, in Lepidoptera, and Sitophilus orzae, Oryzaephilus surianmensis, Cryptolestes ferrugineus, Tribolium castaneum, Tenebroides mauritanicus, Attagenus japonicus, in Coleoptera and Blatella germanica, in Blattaria and Acarus siro Petrobia latens, in mites. The duration of maximum occurrence were the late June to mid July for Sitotroga cerealella, the mod July to early August for Oryzaephilus surianmensis the mid July to August for Tribolium castaneum, the early July to late July for Sitophilus orzae, the mid June to early July for Attagenus japonicus the mid June to late Spetember for Blatella germanica and the late April to late May for Acarus siro and Petrobia latens, respectively in investigation, Blatella germanica(Blattaria) which was no problem in stored rice insect till now was mainly distributed a coastal plain and period of occurrence was long amount of occurrence was great. Rice weevil has 4 generations under natural conditions and the peak of 1st perood time was ranged from middle of jun. to last decade of Jun., 2nd period was from the lats decade of Jul. to first decade of Aug., 3rd period was from middle of Sep. to late Sep., 4th period was middle of Oct. to early Nov.
The importance of the old age income security will increase for an aging society due to the deepening income polarization. The National Pension(NP) is a representative Social Security scheme in charge of old age income security as well as income redistribution for the insured. Studies by Kim (2002), Kim et al. (2003), and Hong (2013) have reported the possibility of unsatisfactory income redistribution of the NP. Recently Choi (2015) attributed those results to an unnoticed defect in the benefit formula. This study is a test for the unsatisfactory income redistribution of the current National Pension using early participants who have now become pensioners. The method aggregates cohorts and combines individual history data before the year 2013 and the results of the actuarial projection model of the 2013 after the year 2014. The results are divided by measures taken. The redistribution is obviously progressive by the income replacement rate; however, it is significantly regressive when measured by the net benefit theoretically as more plausible. Considering the effect of differing lifetime contribution year among income classes, the regressive redistribution will prevail more in the future pensioners.
The green peach aphid Myzus persicae(Sulzer), is known as the most important vector of potato leaf-roll virus and PVY. Yield of potato plants infested with these viruses are remarkably lower than non-infested plants. A study was conducted to investigate the life history of the green peach aphid at Suweon, Korea (Lat. $37^{\circ}$'N., Long. $126^{\circ}59$'E). The following were obtained: 1. Overwintering eggs hatched from late March to early April, with a hatching rate averaging ninety-five percent. 2. The fundatrigeniae leave the primary host(Punus persica) in early to mid May and migrate to the secondary hosts. 3. From mid to late Oct., the gymnoparae migrate from the secondary hosts to the primary hosts. 4. From early to mid Nov., gymnoparae lay fertilized eggs around buds, in bark crevices, or between bifurcated twigs of the primary hosts. 5. The early-born progeny have 23 generations and the late-born progeny have 9 generations on peach trees, potatoes and raddish from Apr. to Oct. 6. The average length of life was about 28.5 days, with a developmental period of approximate 10.8 days and a reproductive period of 15.8 days. 7. The average number of nymphs produced by a female was fifty, with a maximum number of 118. 8. The average number of nymphs produced by a female per day was about 3.2, with a maximum number of 13.
These studies were conducted to investigate the effect of temperature on the developmentof Delia platura (Meigen) under a laboratory condition at five different temperatures. The developmentalperiods of D. platurcr from egg to adult emcrgence at the temperatures of 11, 15, 19, 23, and 27$^{\circ}$C were67.8k 14.5, 43.7t-9.4, 31.2-t-7.0, 22.4k4.9, and 18.3k4.1 days, respectively. Based on these results, threshold temperature of development and effective cumulative degree-day (DD) for overall developmentwas 0.6"C and 579.8 DD, respectively. Generation of time D. pluturci averaged 30.8 days, and meannumber of eggs produced per female was 246.5 k 16.9 at 23$^{\circ}$C. Hatching rate and emergence rate curvesin relation to the temperature was dome shaped with the peak of 90.0 and 85.2% at 23"C, it wassuggesting that hatching and emergence were inhibited by high temperature above that temperature.Pupation rate of the insect reared on garlic and on onion were higher than those reared on other diets.Oviposition of D. platum usually began 7-9 days after emergence at 23$^{\circ}$C. Females laid about 3-4 eggsin a day. Oviposition of the females peaked at the age of 12- 18 days after emergence. of 12- 18 days after emergence.
Adult development and fecundity of the green peach aphid, Myzus persicae $S\H{u}lzer$, were studied at $15{\sim}32.5^{\circ}C$ with $60{\sim}70%$ RH under 16L:8D and the results were put together to build a life table. The longevity shortened as temperatures rose at and below $25^{\circ}C$ whereas it remained relatively constant at $27.5^{\circ}C$. Total fecundity was not significantly different at all temperatures except at $30^{\circ}C$. Daily fecundity gradually increased from $15\;to\;22.5^{\circ}C$. It was 5.1 at $25^{\circ}C$ and as temperatures either went down or up, it decreased to 2.8 at both $15^{\circ}C\;and\;30^{\circ}C$. Fecundity model built from total fecundity at various temperatures suggests that $18.3^{\circ}C$ was the optimum temperature for the maximum progeny of 51. Net reproduction rate RO was highest of 36.5 at $27.5^{\circ}C$. The intrinsic rate of increase per day $r_m$ and the finite rate of increase per day $\lambda$ were highest of 0.4 and 1.6, respectively and the doubling time Dt was shortest of 1.6. Constructed life table suggests that the optimum temperature for adult development for the green peach aphid was $27.5^{\circ}C$ at which the mean generation time was 8.1.
