A Study on the Integration of Motor - Transmission for Commercial Electric Vehicle (상용전기자동차용 모터-변속기 일체화에 관한 연구)

  • Owing to the present problems of air pollution and fossil fuel exhaustion, ongoing research has been actively focused on developing an electric actuator system that can utilize diverse energy sources without producing any exhaust gas. Since the motors of such electric vehicles generally rotate at a high speed, the initial acceleration capability required for an automobile is insufficient. In this study, the motor output was decelerated by the transmission; the initial acceleration of the vehicle was increased, and the motor size and weight were reduced. The driving motor and transmission, which each form isolated structures, were integrated to simplify the connector for input and output. By reducing the cooling system's capacity, a vehicle was designed and manufactured that represents a structural change in effective technology.

  • The characters' voices in the movie, Rashomon mean the absence of memories created by self-consciousness in order to avoid the crisis. The varying statements of the characters and the three spaces: the space of Nakanimon (th e ruins), the representation space as polyphony (the forest), the egoistic space of truth (the guardian), show the social ills of doubtfulness and mistrust among the Japanese at that time due to the defeat from the war. This matches with the polyphony theory of Mr. Bakhtin, a Russian cultural critic. The key concept of polyphony theory is that the voices that do not accord each other are not harmonized but each voice builds their own world and participates in the novel without being influenced by the creator. This study's aim is to discuss two aspects; Bakhtin's polypony theory allows polyphony film s to function as cinematic composition and spatial characteristics of polyphony films in the movie, Rashomon.

Detection of Anthracnose Fungus Colletotrichum circinans by Conventional PCR and Real-time PCR (일반 PCR과 Real-time PCR을 이용한 탄저병균 Colletotrichum circinans 검출)

  • Colletotrichum circinans, an anthracnose pathogen, causes serious damage to onions worldwide. In this study, specific molecular markers were developed to detect C. circinans accurately and quickly with both conventional and real-time PCR methods. The cirTef-F/cirTef-R and cirTu-F/cirTu-R primer sets, which are specific for C. circinans, were constructed by analyzing $tef-1{\alpha}$ and ${\beta}-tubulin$ genes in the fungus. Using the conventional PCR method, 100 pg and 1 ng of fungal DNA could be detected using the cirTef-F/cirTef-R and cirTu-F/cirTu-R sets, respectively. Using the real-time PCR method, 10 pg and 100 pg of fungal DNA could be detected more sensitively with the cirTef-F/cirTef-R and cirTu-F/cirTu-R sets, respectively. Detection of C. circinans from the artificially infected onion seeds was possible by using both conventional and real-time PCR methods and the developed cirTef-F/cirTef-R primer set. The PCR markers specific for C. circinans developed in this study may enhance the efficiency of fungal pathogen detection in imported vegetables and seeds.

Strategy for Public Service Broadcasting News in Digital Era : Focusing on BBC 'Digital First' case (디지털 시대의 공영방송 뉴스 전략 : BBC의 'Digital First' 사례를 중심으로)

  • In the midst of the rapid changes in the digital media environment, this study try to examine the challenges of the public service broadcasting(PSB) news as a representative public sphere in a democratic society, and sought realistic alternatives through a case study of the BBC, one of the most successful digital policies of PSB in the world. The study found that the BBC's 'Digital First' strategy pursued a fundamental change in news formats, thereby simultaneously innovating on content. It was also interesting to see that the news consumers' needs for social media and video content were selectively analyzed and approached with a strategy of choice and focus. Finally, the production of customized digital content by analyzing news viewing behavior by each age group also suggests a lot to Korean PSB. I hope that the cases of this study will be reflected in the digital policies of Korean PSB.

Real-time Highly Sensitive Measurement of Myocardial Infarction Biomarkers Using Silicon-based Ellipsometric Biosensors (실리콘 기반 타원편광계식 바이오센서를 이용한 심근경색 생체표지자의 실시간 초고감도 진단 농도 측정)

  • We report highly sensitive detection of myocardial infarction biomarkers, such as myoglobin and cTnI, within several hundred seconds using a rotating-analyzer ellipsometer and a biosensor with biochips fabricated on a $SiO_2$-coated tilted silicon substrate. We choose the running buffer to be pure phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) or 10% mixed human serum. When we choose the running buffer to be pure PBS, we obtain diagnostic densities of pure myocardial infarction biomarkers of up to 1 ng/ml and 5 pg/ml respectively. Meanwhile, when we use PBS with 10% human serum, the measured densities of myoglobin and cTnI were up to 1 ng/mL and 1 pg/mL respectively. The measured diagnostic densities are less than 1/15 and 1/80 (in cases of myoglobin and cTnI respectively) of those referenced by the World Health Organization.

  • As the performance of computer hardware has been increased in recent years, more realistic computer generated objects can be created and presented in personal computers and portable digital devices as well. For this reason, digital contents, including computer graphics, require virtual objects that are more realistic and representable in real-time on various devices, thus it requires more computational costs. In order to support the production of contents including computer graphics, games, and animations on multi-platform, Unity or unreal engines are mainly used. To represent more realistic behavior of virtual objects in a simulation, a virtual object must collide with other virtual objects and present the plausible interaction, as in the real world. However, such dynamic simulation requires a large amount of computational cost, and most portable devices cannot provide these dynamic simulations in real-time. In this paper, we proposed a GPGPU computation based dynamic cloth simulation to represent collision and response with spherical object in real-time. We believe that the proposed method can be useful for readily producing realistic digital contents.

Coin Classification using CNN (CNN 을 이용한 동전 분류)

  • Limited materials to make coins for countries and designs suitable for hand-carry make the shape, size, and color of coins similar. This similarity makes that it is difficult for visitors to identify each country's coins. To solve this problem, we propose the coin classification method using CNN effective to image processing. In our coin identification method, we collect the training data by using web crawling and use OpenCV for preprocessing. After preprocessing, we extract features from an image by using three CNN layers and classify coins by using two fully connected network layers. To show that our model designed in this paper is effective for coin classification, we evaluate our model using eight different coin types. From our experimental results, the accuracy for coin classification is about 99.5%.

  • Due to the rapid rise of artificial intelligence technology around the world, SW education conducted in elementary and secondary schools is expanding including AI education. Therefore, this study aims to present an AI education system based on 4P(Play, Problem Solving, Product Making, Project) that can be applied from kindergarten to high school. The AI education system presented in this study is designed to be applied in 4P-based Play, Problem Solving, Product Making, and Project 4 stages so that it can be applied by school age and step by step. The level was presented by dividing it into two areas: AI literacy and AI development. In order to verify the validity of the developed AI education system, the Delphi method was applied to 15 experts who had experience in SW education or AI education. The AI education system derived as a result of the verification will be able to contribute to the development of a content system for AI education at each school level in the future.

  • In this study, STEAM program on the subject of 'atmospheric circulation and surface current' was produced based on data and applied to 106 first-year high school students to analyze its effect and problem-solving processes. This program was organized to collect, refine, visualize, and analyze data and to allow communication processes to proceed based on these results. Using this, the concept of circulation in daily life was expanded from a global perspective to identify problems about circulation around the world. As a result of the application of the program, significant changes were identified in knowledge information processing competency. Also, significant changes were made in terms of convergence and creativity, which are sub categories among STEAM core competencies. It also sought to obtain suggestions for data-based STEAM education by analyzing students' responses in the form of a Text network.

  • Short video applications (e.g., TikTok, YouTube shorts) are growing quickly in terms of active users and usage time. Of course, advertising industry is utilizing the app as AD channel. The current study, however, argues that the effectiveness of ADs in short video apps are not articulated well and that precise research for measuring the effect is required. In this context, this study measured the effects of storytelling ad types(reality, parody, creative) and message sensation value(high vs. low level) on story transportation. The notable finding is that when creative storytelling ad type which requires more cognitive resources than other two types meets high level of message sensation value, ad viewers could reach cognitive overload state which induced low effectiveness of ad. As its result, the effectiveness of AD reduced. More specific theoretical discussion and suggestions for advertising producers are described.
