  • In this study, I examine whether differences in the levels of stress exist with regard to the police department size. To accomplish this, a way ANOVA analysis of variance(One-way ANOVA) was conducted. As a result, a significant difference was found in Job stress and traumatic stress according to the department size and grade. Specifically, first, in the job stress level on the department size, the smaller department size was, the higher job stress level was and the bigger department size was, the lower job stress level was. Second, in the traumatic stress level on the department size, the smaller department size was, the higher traumatic stress level was and the bigger department size was, the lower traumatic stress level was. Third, in the job stress level on the department grade, the lower department grade was, the lower job stress level was and the higher department grade was, the higher job stress level was. Fourth, in the traumatic stress level on the department grade, the lower department grade was, the lower traumatic stress level was and the higher department grade was, the higher traumatic stress level was.

  • Stress is a common risk factor for health and is associated with the endocrine gland and immune system. Studies on the association between stress and biochemical factors have been conducted worldwide, but studies on the association have been rare in South Korea. Therefore, the aims of this study are to analyze the relationship of stress with demographic information and biochemical factors for domestic adults and derive risk factors for stress. For data analysis, stress and normal groups were analyzed using binary logistic regression. In both men and women, age and average daily sleep time during the weekday were highly associated with stress, and the depression score (Patient Health Questionnaire-9) was also highly related with stress. In women, white blood cell levels were highly associated with stress, and in men, red blood cell levels were highly related with stress. These findings will contribute to the prevention of stress and the national health in the future.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of office workers' stress level and stress vulnerability on heart rate variability (HRV), confirm the significance of objective stress indicators obtained through subjective stress and heart rate variability devices, and examine their effectiveness as an integrated stress measurement tool in community mental health projects. Methods : From June to July in 2020, 929 workers participated in the stress management and mental health promotion project carried out by K hospital, and their recorded database was used for study analysis with their agreements. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed to find out the effects of general stress level, and stress vulnerability on heart rate variability. Results : All general characteristics were found to have a significant effect on SDNN (ln), RMSSD (ln), LF (ln), and HF (ln), but work experience did not significantly affect RMSSD (ln). Stress level and stress vulnerability did not significantly affect heart rate variability, but stress perception, a sub-factor of stress level, was found to have a significant effect on RMSSD (ln) (β=0.118, p=0.023). Conclusions : In this study, stress perception, a sub-factor of stress level, was found to be a factor affecting RMSSD (ln). This indicates an association with the activity of parasympathetic nerves in stressful situations, and more follow-up studies are needed to use it as a direct indicator of chronic stress and integrated stress in the community mental health field.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes of stress and cumulative stress in 49 people and the changes of job stress, socio-psychological stress and anxiety relief levels by conducting a survey of 85 people after Gyorae forest bathing. Methods: The level of stress was measured using the uBioMacpa, and questionnaire was conducted to derive the data. Results: In the stress level after the forest bath, the control group showed no significant and the experimental group showed a significant decrease in the bathing (p<.043). In the cumulative stress change, the control group showed no significant difference after the bathing, but experimental group decreased significantly (p<.02), and in the variance analysis, there was a significant difference between the groups, and also between the group and the before and after tests (p<.002). In the questionnaire about job stress, there was no significant difference in physical environment and job demand. Overall, in the case of job stress, there was a significant decrease (p<.001). Job autonomy, relationship conflict, organizational unfairness, inadequate compensation, and workplace culture also had a significant decrease in stress (p<.001). The social psychological stress was significantly decreased after bathing (p<.001). The state anxiety decreased significantly (p<.001) after forest bathing. Conclusions: After the forest bathing in the Gyorae forest, the stress and anxiety are both reduced and significant, providing basic information that is very helpful as a natural healing place for stress relief.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore linkages between stress and a range of individual difference factors on children's memory for a potentially stressful event. Children (N=63) aged from 4 to 10 years, who undergone a minor dental operative procedure were evaluated. Overall, the results of this study replicated and extended previous findings of the related literature, providing some further evidence for a negative relation between stress and children's recall. More considerable variation in individual difference variables, in particular, children 's stress coping strategies, quality of previous experiences, amount of the advanced parental preparation were existed among the children, influencing the relation between the level of stress and children's remembering of a stressful event. Future inquiries for understanding theoretical, clinical, and forensic issues in children's remembering of a stressful event were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore ways to help reduce adolescents' academic stress by exploring the influences of parental learning involvement and family strengths on academic stress. The research participants were 445 middle school students living in Gwangju. Data were collected from self-reported questionnaires and analyzed with SPSS 23.0 program. The major findings were as follows: First, the parental learning involvement(provision of learning option, democratic rules, encouragement of academic progress) and academic stress showed significant differences according to gender. There was a significant difference in academic stress depending on school year, but there was no significant difference in parental learning involvement. The family strengths did not show significant difference according to gender or school year. The parental learning involvement(provision of learning option, democratic rules, pursuit of adequate performance, academic information, total), family strengths, and academic stress showed significant differences according to economic status. Second, the adolescents' academic stress was influenced by parental learning involvement(encouragement of academic progress, democratic rules, pursuit of adequate performance) and family strengths. Approximately 30 percent of the adolescents' academic stress was explained by these variables.
