Fatigue Reliability Evaluation of Steel-Composite High-Speed Railway Bridge with Tuned Mass Damper (동조질량감쇠기를 장착한 강합성형 고속철도교의 피로신뢰성 평가)

  • This study proposes a fatigue reliability evaluation procedure for steel-composite high-speed railway bridge based on dynamic analysis and investigates the effectiveness of Tuned Mass Damper(TMD) in terms of the extension of fatigue life of the bridge. For the fatigue reliability evaluation, the limit state is determined using S-N curve and linear fatigue-damage accumulation. Dynamic analyses are peformed repeatedly to consider the uncertainties of train-velocity and damping ratio of the bridge. The distribution of random variables related to fatigue damage for the intended service life is then statistically estimated from analytical results. Finally, the fatigue reliability indices are obtained by means of the Advanced First-Order Second-Moment (AFOSM) method. Through numerical simulation of a steel-composite bridge of 40m span, the effectiveness of TMD on fatigue life of the bridge is examined and the results are presented.

An Economic Evaluation of MSW RDF production plant (생활폐기물고형연료(RDF) 제조기술 경제성 평가)

  • 국내 최초의 생활폐기물고형연료(RDF) 생산플랜트인 원주시 RDF플랜트의 2009년도 운영실적을 정리하여 폐기물 처리단가를 분석하였으며 에너지 생산 효과도 분석하였다. 실적분석에 사용된 자료는 원주 RDF플랜트 위탁운영업체가 운영비를 청구 및 정산하기 위해서 원주시에 상시 측정 및 보고하는 항목으로서, 내용은 트럭으로 플랜트에 반입되는 폐기물 전체량, RDF생산 전체량, 불순물 매립 전체량, 건조 및 탈취용 연료사용 전체량, 전기사용 전체량 등이다. 2009년도 원주시 RDF플랜트에 반입된 폐기물 량은 총 17,504톤이었고, RDF를 총 7,044톤 생산하였으며, 4,120톤의 불연물을 선별하였다. 1년간 사용한 건조 및 탈취용 연료는 총 596,268 리터였으며 연료인 부생유의 가격은 리터 당 평균 864.6원이었다. 사용한 전기량은 총 2,435,397 kWh였고, 이 중에서 성형공정에 사용된 전기량은 총 사용량의 19%였다. 이상의 기록자료들을 분석해 본 결과, 폐기물 1톤을 처리하는데 전기 비용이 14,334원이었고, 연료비가 29,452원이었다. 여기에 폐기물 1톤당 불연물 매립비 6,573원과 위탁인건비를 합하면 폐기물 1톤당 처리비용은 약 116,573원으로 나타났다. 현재 원주시 RDF는 톤당 25,000원에 판매되고 있으므로 이 비용을 감안하면 폐기물 1톤당 처리비용은 105,298원으로 산출되었다. 현재 알려진 유사 규모의 소각로 운영비가 폐기물 1톤당 136,736원인데, 이것은 RDF기술보다 31,438원/톤-폐기물 정도 처리비용이 비싸다. 따라서 100톤 이하 규모의 폐기물처리시설 설치를 할 경우에는 RDF 시설이 경제적으로 타당함을 나타낸다. 원주시 RDF플랜트의 물질수지를 분석해 본 결과, RDF생산 수율은 40.2%였으며 총 투입된 에너지는 8,0587 Gcal였다. 생산된 에너지 총량은 RDF발열량 4,500 kcal/kg으로 했을 때 31,699 Gcal로 나타났다. 투입대비 생산에너지 비율은 25.4%로 계산되었고, 전기의 발전효율을 40%로 감안했을 경우에는 35.3%로 계산되었다. 성형하는데 사용되는 총 에너지는 전체 투입에너지의 4.9%로 나타났고, 비용으로는 폐기물 1톤당 2,723원 이었다.

Mechanical Property Enhancement of Water Soluble Polymer Pouch for Ground Reinforcement (지반함몰 긴급복구용 수용성 폴리머 파우치의 기계적 물성강화)

  • We developed a polymer pouch using PVP that is water soluble in the precedent study. Yet melt viscosity was so low that it was not possible to produce hemispheric type which is essential for mass production, therefore we used another material to make the polymer pouch. It enabled to figure out a water-soluble transition and mechanic physical property of PEG that is newly chosen, and to blend the PEG with LLDPE and TALC followed by result. So, we could implement an evaluating property on blended proportion. It is important to find out a proper blending ratio throughout an experiment since its property is different or varied followed by each proportion as a water soluble character is conflict to a solid character. With the blending technique we were able to produce the polymer pouch enhanced for a tensile force and an impact intensity maintaining a water soluble character. We could identify a ground solidity effect of the polymer pouch as a result of a direct shear test using the product developed.

Mechanical Behavior of New Thin Sandwich Panel Subjected to Bending (새로운 박판샌드위치 판재의 삼점굽힘거동)

  • A new thin sandwich panel composed of an aluminum expanded metal core adhesively jointed with stainless steel face sheets is introduced, and its mechanical behavior under three-point bending is investigated. The strength and stiffness are analyzed theoretically, and the press-formability and strength enhancement are evaluated experimentally. The specimens with the specific configurations exhibit face yielding well before face-core separation, which means that the sandwich panel can be formed by a press without failure. The measured load levels corresponding to the face yielding and the face-core separation agree fairly well with the theoretical estimations. For a given weight, the sandwich panel is superior to a solid panel in terms of strength, stiffness, and press-formability.

Effect of the Energy of Extrusion on the Starch Gelatinization (압출성형 에너지가 녹말의 호화에 미치는 영향)

  • The effect of the energy supplied in extrusion on the starch gelatinization was analyzed. The energy needed for extrusion is generated by motor and heater. The motor energy is transformed into a thermal energy by heat dissipation and a mechanical energy, and the heater energy is of a thermal energy. At the low barrel temperature $({\leq}80^{\circ}C)$, it was found out there are two kinds of thermal energy by heat dissipation: one by a powder friction of corn grit with low moisture contents and the other by a viscous dissipation of corn grit with high moisture contents. The dissipated thermal energy by the powder friction was more effective on the starch gelatinization than that by the viscous dissipation. The effect of the mechanical energy was also analyzed in terms of a relative mechanical energy. The gelatinization of corn grit with high moisture contents $({\geq}33%)$ largely depended on the change in the relative mechanical energy, whereas that with low moisture contents $({\leq}30%)$ hardly depended on it.

형상비를 고려한 중공 플랜지의 밀폐단조 해석

  • 동력 전달용 구동부품에 있어서 중공 플랜지 형상의 부품은 흔히 찾아 볼 수 있으며, 이는 높은 강도를 요구하기 때문에 강도향상을 위하여 단조에 의한 제품의 성형 방법이 많이 연구되고 있다. 중공 플랜지형상을 갖는 제품의 제조 방법으로서는 중실 플랜지 형상으로 단조하여 내경부를 절삭가공하는 방법, 중실 소재를 후방압출하여 중공 플랜지형상으로 단조하는 방법, 또는 중공의 초기소재를 사용하여 중공 플랜지형상으로 단조하는 방법이 일반적이다. 본 연구에서는 Fig. 1에 나타낸 것과 같이 중공 플랜지 형상을 갖는 기계 부품의 단조방법에 대해 연구하였으며, 중공 관의 내경을 $d^1$, 외경을 $d^2$, 플랜지부의 외경을 $D^0$, 중공 관의 두께를 t, 플랜지부의 두께를 T로 정의하였다. 중공 플랜지 형상에 있어서 공정 설계의 변수는 다양하겠으나, 본 연구에서는 중공관의 외경과 내경의 형상비 $\alpha$(=$d^2$/$d^1$), 플랜지의 폭과 중공관의 두께비 $\beta$(=B/t) 및 중공관의 두께와 플랜지의 두께비 r(=T/t)의 변화에 따른 성형조건에 관해 고찰하였다. 중공 플랜지 형상의 성형방법으로 Fig. 2에 나타낸 것과 같은 $\circled1$중실소재를 이용한 후방압출단조(backward extrusion forging)방법, $\circled2$중공 소재를 이용한 엎셋(upset forging)방법, $\circled3$중공 소재를 이용한 압조법(injection forging), $\circled4$중실소재를 이용한 압조-압출(injection-extruding forging)법의 4가지의 단조 방법을 제시 하였다. 또한, 유한요소해석을 수행하여 소성유동 형태, 유효변형률, 단조하중을 검토하고. 모델재료인 납을 이용한 실험을 통하여 이를 검증하였다. 이를 바탕으로 산업 현장에서 경험에 의존하였던 공정 설계를 보다 효과적으로 개선하기 위한 단조법을 제시하고자 하였다. 또한 중실 소재를 이용한 중공 플랜지 형상의 단조 방법 중 보다 적절한 단조방법인 압조 단조에 있어서 일반적으로 사용되고 있는 SM10C에 대한 유한요소 해석을 수행하였으며, 제품의 형상비에 따라 폴딩 결함의 발생 유무를 검토하고, 폴딩 결함 없이 단조하기 위한 중공 플랜지의 형상한계 비를 제시하였다.

Effect of Joint Reinforcement on Reinforced Concrete Pile by Centrifugal Casting (원심성형 철근콘크리트 말뚝 이음부의 보강 효과)

  • The construction of foundation piles for buildings and bridges is changing from pile driving to an injected precast pile method. The goal is to minimize environmental damage, noise pollution, and complaints from neighboring residents. However, it is necessary to develop economic piles that are optimized for precasting by a centrifugal method in terms of both the material and structural system. A reinforced joint method is proposed for reinforced concrete piles (RC piles) manufactured by centrifugal casting. A previous study concluded that the structural performance of the current joint system for RC piles could be improved by using a reinforced joint composed of extended circular band plates and studs. In this study, the structural performance of such a joint was validated experimentally by bending and shear strength measurements. The proposed joint reinforcement method showed adequate structural performance in terms of bending and shear strength. The overall load-deflection behavior is close to that of a structure without joints, so it is expected that the behavior and performance of the design can be reliably reflected in site structures.

Half-dome Thermo-forming Tests of Thermoplastic Glass Fiber/PP Composites and FEM Simulations Based on Non-orthogonal Constitutive Models (열가소성 유리섬유/PP 복합재의 반구돔 열성형 평가 및 비직교 구성방정식을 이용한 FEM 수치해석)

  • In this work, tensile and in-plane shear tests for thermoplastic glass fiber/polypropylene composites were performed at a thermo-forming temperature and their properties were characterized and mathematically expressed by using the non-orthogonal constitutive model. As for the thermo-forming test, half-dome experiments were carried out by varying the usage of a releasing agent and the weight of holders. As results, the optimum final shape having well-aligned symmetry and no wrinkle formation was obtained when the releasing agent was used, and it was found that the careful control of a holding force is crucial to manufacture the healthy product. Furthermore, FEM simulations based on the non-orthogonal model showed similar final shapes and tendency of wrinkle formation with experimental results, and confirmed that wrinkles increase with less holding force and higher punch force is required under high frictional condition.

  • A basic research for utilizing solid refuse fuel (SRF) based on changing SRF properties (RDF, RPF) and types (pellet, fluff) is demonstrated. Physicochemical characteristics of SRF and also changes in thermal decomposition depending on combustion time and emission gas (NOx, CO, HCl, etc) concentration were investigated for applications to waste energy sources. In conclusion, RPF is easy to pelletize, and has better combustion efficiency, higher LHV, higher thermal reduction, and short combustion time because it is composed of plastic wastes homogeneously. Also, fluff type samples have better combustion efficiency, and short combustion time because it has wider exposed surface area for combustion. It can also save energy consumption for pelletizing.

PAPR Reduction in Limited Feedback MIMO Beeamforming OFDM Systems (제한된 되먹임의 송신 빔성형 MIMO OFDM 시스템에서 PAPR 감소 기법)

  • High peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR) is one of serious problems in the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) systems. This paper proposes a PAPR reduction technique for limited feedback multiple input multiple output(MIMO) OFDM systems. The proposed method is based on the null space of the MIMO channel where a dummy signal is made in the channel's null space and then, subtracted from the original signal to reduce the PAPR. First, we show that a problem occurs when the existing method is directly applied to limited feedback MIMO case. Then, a weight function for the dummy signal is proposed to mitigate the degradation of the receiver performance while still reducing PAPR significantly. The weight function is derived from a constrained nonlinear optimization problem to minimize the mean square error between the received signal and its ideal signal. Simulation results shows that the proposed technique provides about 2.5dB PAPR reduction with 0.2dB bit-error probability loss.
