Study on Simple Repetitive Work and the Risks of Musculoskeletal Injuries (단순반복 작업유형별 근골격계 질환 발생특성과 예방 대책에 관한 연구)

  • According to the results of this study, we found through preliminary research that most of the workers studied suffered from some sort of musculoskeletal injury, but did not obtain hospital treatment, which shows that although their work was the source of injury, they did not realize the significance of their injury. In addition, there were some subjects that did not even know what musculoskeletal injuries were and in order to solve such problems, companies need to educate their workers about musculoskeletal injuries and show the significance of the injuries. Also, there was a difference in rates of musculoskeletal injuries in different occupations, with higher rates of injury in esthetics, driving and packaging positions. This calls for the use of automated machinery and alteration of the working environment to make it more ergonomic according to the recommended improvement plan, and continuous effort and support on the part of the company in order to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries.

Properties of Amaranth Flour Processed by Various Methods (다양한 방법으로 가공처리한 아마란스 가루의 특성)

  • Processed foods were developed using amaranth starch and flours. Amaranth seeds were untreated (UT), defatted (DF), germinated (GM), roasted (RT), popped (POP), and extruded (EX1 and EX2). Amaranth flours showed A-type pattern on X-ray diffractograms, while crystallinity was not observed in POP, EX1, and EX2. POP and EX1 showed highest (740.3%) and lowest (38.5%) water-binding capacities, respectively. Transmittances of RT, POP, EX1, and EX2 flour suspensions were higher than those of others. Transmittance of amaranth starch and flours differed with processing methods. RT, POP, EX1, and EX2 showed higher transmittance at $60^{\circ}C$. Initial pasting temperature of amaranth flours by RVA were $68.1-73.0^{\circ}C$, and peak viscosities of GM and RT were 31.6 and 401.1 RVU, respectively. Melting endotherms of POP, EX1, and EX2 were not observed in DSC thermograms.

Analysis of Optimal Mixture Ratio for Extrudate of the Soymilk Residue and Corn Grits by Mixture Design (혼합물 실험 계획법에 의한 두유박과 옥분 압출성형물의 최적 혼합비 분석)

  • Experimental designs were applied to optimize the mixture ratio for the extrudate made by soymilk residue and corn grits. Nine candidate points were examined for their significance on extrudate using the modified distance design. Bending force, expansion ratio, bulk density, water solubility index (WSI), water absorption index (WAI) and color $(L^*,\;a^*,\;b^*)$ were the significant factors improving the extruded cereal production, and these values were applied to the mathematical models. Results showed that bending force, expansion ratio WSI, WAI and color $(L^*,\;b^*)$ increased with increasing the corn grits, whereas bulk density tended to decrease. The statistical study showed that the fitted models were adequate to describe the contour plot and all responses. Optimum mixture ratio allowing to maximize the two responses (expansion ratio and $b^*$) and minimize the response (WAI) were examined with a numerical optimization methods. The numerical optimization method was obtained as 53.18% : 46.19% (corn grits : soymilk residue).

Analysis on Flexural Behavior of Spiral Steel Pipe Considering Residual Stress Developed by Pipe Manufacturing (조관에 의한 잔류 응력을 고려한 스파이럴 강관의 휨 거동 분석)

  • A spiral steel pipe has been more used widely as a structural member as well as transport pipeline because the pipe can be manufactured continuously, consequently more economical than the conventional UOE pipe. As improved pipe manufacture technology makes spiral pipes to have high strength and to have larger diameters, the spiral pipes have been recently used as long distance transport pipeline with a large diameter and strain-based design is thus required to keep structural integrity and cost effectiveness of the spiral pipe. However, design codes of spiral pipe have not been completely established yet, and structural behaviors of a spiral pipe are not clearly understood for strain-based design. In this paper, the effects of residual stresses due to the spiral pipe manufacture process are investigated on the flexural behavior of the spiral pipe. Finite element analyses were conducted to estimate residual stresses due to the manufacturing process for the pipes which have different forming angle, thickness, and strength, respectively. After that, the results were used as initial conditions for flexural analysis of the pipe to numerically investigate its flexural behaviors.

  • During sand casting, the binders produces gases in cores because high temperature molten metals dissolve the binders into gases and causes gas defects in the casting products. In the present study, quantitative analysis of inorganic binder gas generation was performed using Thermo Gravimetry (TG) and Mass Spectrometer (MS) analyses. The specimen was prepared using organic binders in liquid and solid state, and a mixture of sand and binders. Moisture loss by catalysts was calculated by TG results from liquid and solid binder specimens; it was found that components of gases were different. Quantitative analysis was discussed for generated gases with individual gas component results obtained using TG and MS. It is expected that gas generation can be predicted in the casting simulation using the technique proposed in the present study.

Compressive and failure behaviour of composite egg-box panel using non-orthogonal constitutive model (비 직교 물성 모델을 이용한 복합재료 계란판의 압축거동 및 파손)

  • In the current study, thermoforming and compression analysis were carried out for the woven composite egg-box panel with the non-orthogonal constitutive material model, which is proposed by Xue et al. The material model is implemented in commercial engineering software, LS-DYNA, with a user subroutine. Directional properties in non-orthogonal coordinates are determinedusing the deformation gradient tensor and the material modulus matrix in local coordinate is updated at eaeh corresponding time step. After the implemented non-orthogonal constitutive model is verified by the bias extension test, the egg-box panel simulations are performed. The egg-box panel simulations are divided into two categories: thermoforming (draping) and crushing. The finite element model for crushing analysiscan be obtained using the displacement result of thermoforming process.

Use of Microwave Range and Oven, and Change on Dietary Type (전자렌지, 오븐의 이용과 식생활의 변화)

  • The possession of microwave range, oven and oven-microwave range has been greatly increased with 88 Seoul Olympic Game as a momentum, and the possession rate was by 68%. The respondent answered the function of microwave range to be more necessary than that of oven, and the two household commodities have been mostly used to reheat and heat simply prepared frozen foods. The 35% among total respondent wished to cook the prepared frozen foods like pizza, but the 87% prefered to cook bakery. The frequencies of the use of oven were 35%, 35% for cooking premix and raw materials, and 20%, 20% for cooking half-prepared and prepared foods, respectively. The respondent of 39% was interested in premix foods as a future preference for food forms, and the respondent with interest in half-prepared food was 30%, but the preference for raw materials and prepared foods showed a trend to be decreased. The respondent of 60ft had eaten out six times week, and 50% had eaten instant and fast foods 1~3 times week. As the results of this survey, most of consumers prefer to more convenient foods. Therefore, it is expected that the function of oven and microwave range would be widely useful if various foods are improved with regards to convenience for use and preference.

Physiological and Genetic Changes by Mixing Culture of Shiitake (표고 배양시 균주 혼입에 따른 생리 및 유전적 변화)

  • Attempts were made to investigate the physiological and genetic changes when two different shiitake (Lentinula edodes) strains are mixed. Mycelial growth of KFRI 180 strain and KFRI 1 strain were investigated 82 mm and 80 mm, respectively. Concerning the weight loss percentage of medium, KFRI 1 strain decreased 2.4% and KFRI 180 strain 1.6%. Plug-shaped spawn had no-problem to incubate and there were no differences among the ratios of mixture. Also, conditions of plug-shaped spawns were similar, When the isolated mycelia from plugshaped spawns was incubated again, KFRI 1 50%-KFRI 180 50% showed decreased growth of mycelia compared with other treatments. The same results were obtained from test tubes filled with sawdust. When surface of spawn bottles were observed, KFRI 1 50%-KFRI 180 50% showed spots, but other treatments were not different from KFRI 1 and KFRI 180. Test was made to confirm the strains by confrontation culture. The mixture of two strains was proved to be KFRI 1 regardless the ratios of mixture. However, by the RAPD primer analysis, when KFRI 1 was mixed with KFRI 180, KFRI 180 was stronger. Thus, the confrontation line on PDA was different from the bands analysis by primers. Attempts were made whether the fruit-bodies were made at the generating condition of spawn bottles. The results were that KFRI 1 100%, KFRI 1 90%-KFRI 180 10%, KFRI 1 80%-KFRI 180 20%, KFRI 1 50%-KFRI 180 50% treatment showed fruit-body formation. The shape of fruit-body was deformed, but the gill was made normally.

THE CHANGE OF CANAL CONFIGURATION AFTER INSTRUMENTATION BY SEVERAL NICKEL-TITANIUM FILES IN THE SIMULATED CANAL WITH ABRUPT CURVATURE (수종의 엔진구동형 니켈-타이타늄 파일에 의한 급한 만곡의 근관 성형시 근관형태 변화에 대한 비교연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate which type of Ni-Ti files are able to maintain canal configuration better in the simulated canal with abrupt curvature near it's apex. Ninety six simulated root canals were made in epoxy resin and $\sharp$15 finger spreader was used as root canal templates. The simulated root canals were made with radius of curvature of 1.5mm, 3.0mm, 4.0mm, 6.0mm respectively and the angle of curvature of all simulated canals were adjusted to 90 degree. The simulated canals were instrumented by ProFile, ProTaper, Hero 642, and $K^3$ at a 300 rpm using crown-down pressureless technique. Pre-instrumented and post-instrumented images were taken by digital camera and were superimposed with Adobe Photos hop 6.0 program. Images were compared by image analysis program. The changes of canal width at the inner and outer side of the canal curvature. canal transportation were measured at 9 measuring point with 1 mm interval. Statistical analysis among the types of Ni-Ti files was performed using Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney U-test. The result was that ProFile maintain original canal configuration better than other engine driven Ni-Ti files in the canals above 3.0mm radius of curvature, and in the 1.5mm radius of curvature, most of Ni-Ti flies were deformed or separated during instrumentation.

Vane Shear Test on Nakdong River Sand (베인 전단시험기를 이용한 낙동강모래의 마찰각에 관한 연구)

  • A vane shear test (VST) is a simple testing method for determining an undrained shear strength of cohesive soils by minimizing soil disturbance. In this study, the VST was used to determine a shear strength of sand. Dry Nakdong River sand was prepared for loose and dense conditions in a cell and then pressurized with 25, 50, 75 or 100 kPa from the surface of sand. A vane (5 cm in diameter and 10 cm in height) was rotated and a torque was measured within sand. When a torque moment by vane and friction resistance moment by sand is assumed to be equalized, a friction angle can be obtained. When a vane rotates within clay, a uniform undrained shear strength is assumed to be acting on cylindrical failure surface. On the other hand, when it is applied for sand, the failure shape can be assumed to be an octagonal or square column. The relationship between measured torque and resistant force along assumed failure shapes due to friction of sand was derived and the internal friction angle of sand was determined for loose and dense conditions. For the same soil condition, a series of direct shear test was carried out and compared with VST result. The friction angle from VST was between 24-42 degrees for loose sand and 33-53 degrees for dense sand. This is similar to those of direct shear tests.
