Degree of Science Problem Solving by the Information Processing Types and Cognitive Styles of Elementary School Students (초등학교 학생의 정보 처리 유형과 인지 양식에 따른 과학 문제 해결)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the degree of science problem solving by the information processing types and cognitive styles of 235 6th grade students. The results of this study were as follows. First, as the students got higher scores in the two types of information processing, they could solve more science achievement items and creative problem solving items correctly. And as the students got higher scores in simultaneous information processing test, they could solve more scientific concept understanding items. Secondly, as the students were more field-independent, they could solve more science achievement items and creative problem solving items. And especially in solving scientific concept understanding items, much higher field-independence was required. Finally, there was a significant difference on the distributions of cognitive styles by the information processing types. As the students got higher scores in the two types of information processing, their cognitive style tended to be more field-independent.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of learning motivation on interaction in online collaborative learning. The study subjects are 79 university students who take courses in teaching. Learning motivations measured the intrinsic goal orientation, extrinsic goal orientation, tasks value, control of learning beliefs, test anxiety, self-efficacy, goal orientation by MSLQ. Next, the level of interaction was measured by online collaborative tasks. The group for online cooperation tasks consisted of four to five people and random assignment. The level of interaction was used frequency and score that quantitative Value assess. The collected data were analysed using multiple regression analysis(stepwise). As a result, self-efficacy and extrinsic goal orientation, tasks value, mastery goal orientation were positive effect on frequency and score. next, test anxiety and performance avoid goal orientation were negative effect on frequency and score.

  • Over the past decades, changes in economic, social and demographic structures have pushed the growth of care employment across countries around the world. Women's increasing labor force participation has squeezed the time so far available for unpaid caregiving and led to increased demand for paid care services. Population aging and increasing needs for pre-school education also have contributed to the growth in demand for care services. As a result, care workers now comprise a large and growing segment of the labor force in many countries including South Korea. But, there are not a few problems. Especially, we take underpaid and undervalued care work very seriously. care work has been generally characterized as underpaid and undervalued compared with other work in developed and developing countries alike. This study tries to show current situation of care work and estimate the wage penalty for doing care work in Korea using official employment micro-data and applying propensity matching analysis. Especially, recent expansion of social service is a big step up for Korean Welfare State. But, there are not a few problems. Especially, we take underpaid and undervalued care work very seriously. Development and Effects of Simulation Educational Program for Nursing Students (간호대학생들을 위한 시뮬레이션 교육프로그램 개발 및 적용효과)

  • Purpose. This study was conducted to identify effects of the high fidelity simulation for nursing students. Methods. A non-equivalent quasi-experimental design was used to experimental group (N=43) and control group (N=39) for 8 weeks, 5 times from September 26 to November 9, 2013. Clinical performance was measured by using standardized patients. Critical thinking was measured through the questionnaire and clinical judgement was measured through observation by Lasater's rubric. Results. Clinical performance (F=211.15, p<.001), critical thinking (t=3.00, p<.004) and clinical judgement (t=7.60, p<.001) were significantly higher in experimental group with simulation education program than control group. Conclusion. Simulation education program were effective to improve clinical performance, critical thinking disposition and clinical judgement for nursing students.

Childbirth and Socioeconomic Status Changes in Korean Women: Using Propensity Score Matching and Difference-in-Differences Method (출산과 여성의 사회경제적 상태 변화: 성향점수매칭과 이중차이를 활용한 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of childbirth on socioeconomic status changes of women. Data were collected from Korean Health Panel (2008-2015). A difference-in-differences model with propensity score matching was applied to assess the impact of childbirth on socioeconomic status changes. As a result, variables showing significant differences in the interaction terms indicating the impact of birth were the savings, economic activity, and occupational status. The impact of birth were significant in decreasing the amount of savings and negatively affecting women's economic activities, but in increasing the probability of full-time and regular employees in occupational status. Childbirth appears to have a negative impact on the home economics and socioeconomic status of women. The belief that home economies can be stabilized even after childbirth should be established, and a long-term and sustained support plan should be set up to realize this belief.

Impact of Family Care Leave and Vacation Systems on Work-Family Balance of Female Managers (가족돌봄휴직·휴가제도가 여성관리자의 일·가정 양립에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the effects of the revised and newly established family care leave and vacation systems in 2019 on the work-family balance of female managers. A total of 1,040 female managers with experience in using the systems were selected as the analysis subjects from the 2020 Women Managers Panel data. Propensity score matching and multiple regression analysis were conducted. The propensity score matching results showed that the family care time of the users of the family care leave was significantly lower than that of non-users, and both the work-family conflict and home-work conflict levels were significantly higher for the users than the non-users. For the family care vacation, the family care time of its users was significantly higher in national and local government organizations than that if its non-users. The results of multiple regression analysis indicated that the use of the family care leave had a significant positive impact on home-work conflict. These findings suggest that the current family care leave and vacation system have insufficient positive effects on work-family relationships.

Document Summarization Using Mutual Recommendation with LSA and Sense Analysis (LSA를 이용한 문장 상호 추천과 문장 성향 분석을 통한 문서 요약)

  • In this paper, we describe a new summarizing method based on a graph-based and a sense-based analysis. In the graph-based analysis, we convert sentences in a document into word vectors and calculate the similarity between each sentence using LSA. We reflect this similarity of sentences and the rarity scores of words in sentences to define weights of edges in the graph. Meanwhile, in the sense-based analysis, in order to determine the sense of words, subjectivity or objectivity, we built a database which is extended from the golden standards using Wordnet. We calculate the subjectivity of sentences from the sense of words, and select more subjective sentences. Lastly, we combine the results of these two methods. We evaluate the performance of the proposed method using classification games, which are usually used to measure the performances of summarization methods. We compare our method with the MS-Word auto-summarization, and verify the effectiveness of ours.

  • The major purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of the long-term care insurance program. In order to estimate the impact of policy accurately, certain bias which might hamper the validity of this study has been removed by Propensity Score Matching(PSM) and Double Difference(DD) method from the semi-experimental design. To study the effects of long-term care insurance on the elderly and their family members as social outcome variable sand the quality of life of their family and satisfaction in family relationships, the third and fourth waves of Korea Welfare Panel are used to match experimental and comparative groups by the propensity score matching. Then, DD method, using the panel fixed effects model, is applied to estimate the differences of those groups'treatment effects before and after the policy implementation. As a result, it was found that the Quality of life on the elderly and their family members is statistically meaningless, while the satisfaction in family relationships has much increased after the policy implementation. The result has a limitation in that this evaluation is performed at the point when the long-term insurance program has not been ripened enough. However, there is an important implication on the significance of realizing the main goal of the long-term care insurance to improve the quality of life of the elderly and their family members and as for the potentiality of further system improvements.

The Effects of a Cooperative Learning Strategy by Level of Students' Collectivism (학생들의 집단주의 성향에 따른 협동학습 전략의 효과)

  • In this study, the effects of STAD cooperative learning strategy on students' achievement, learning motivation, perceptions of learning environment, and perceived classroom goal structure were investigated in terms of students' collectivism level. Two classes (64 students) from an elementary school were respectively assigned to a control group and a treatment group. A individualism-collectivism test, a learning motivation test, a perceptions of learning environment test, and a perceived classroom goal structure test were administered as pretests. The intervention of cooperative learning lasted for 24 class periods. After instruction, an achievement test, the learning motivation test, the perceptions of learning environment test, and the perceived classroom goal structure test were administered. The results indicated that the students of the treatment group significantly outperformed those of the control group in the achievement test. There was a significant treatment-aptitude interaction effect in the scores of the attention subcategory of the learning motivation. In the perceptions of learning environment, the score of the treatment group was significantly higher than the control group in the cohesiveness subcategory, whereas the score of the treatment group was significantly lower than their counterpart in the competitiveness subcategory. It was also found that the score of the treatment group was significantly higher than the control group in the performance subcategory of the perceived classroom goal structure.

Factors affecting the nursing productivity of clinical nurses

  • This is descriptive research aimed at identifying the factors for nursing productivity in nurses at a tertiary hospital. The data were collected from a survey conducted in 257 nurses at a single hospital in Seoul from May to June 2020. The collected data were analyzed through t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analysis by using an SPSS 25.0 program. The total score was an average of 25.40±5.49 (range: 6-36) for gratitude disposition, 65.15±9.18 (range: 21-105) for job satisfaction, 87.64±12.05 (range: 23-115) for nursing performance, and 35.68±6.79 (range: 0-45) for nursing productivity. Nursing productivity was positively correlated with gratitude disposition (r=.219, p<.001), job satisfaction (r=.440, p<.001), and nursing performance (r=.494, p<.001). Nursing productivity was affected by gratitude disposition (β=.144), nursing performance (β=.394), and job satisfaction (β=.278). On the basis of these results, it is necessary to develop and apply education programs aimed at promoting work productivity for nursing manpower.
