A Study on Maternal Attribution and Parenting Behaviors (아동, 가족 및 모의 특성에 따른 어머니의 귀인성향과 양육행동)

  • This study examined the role of maternal attribution in Parenting behaviors. Using an attributional model, it assessed whether maternal attributions about children's knowledge, capacity, expectation, and responsibility for behavior problems have effects on maternal behaviors of affect and authoritarian control. The sample consisted of 297 mothers who have first-and forth-grade children. Multivariate regression analysis revealed that matemal attribution about children’s knowledge for misconduct had positive influence on maternal affect and negative influence on authoritarian control behaviors, and that maternal attribution of expectation negatively influenced the behaviors of authoritarian control. In addition, such background factors as child age, gender, family income, family type, maternal education, and self-esteem were significant predictors for maternal attributions. In regard of mothering behaviors, child age, maternal age, and self-esteem were related to maternal affect, while family type and maternal self-esteem were related to authoritarian control. The findings suggest the importance of matemal attributions in parenting for better child development.

  • This study explored the influence of the attributional style on depression among university students with the mediators of self-esteem and social support(number & satisfaction). It was hypothesized that self-esteem and the number and satisfaction of social support would mediate the relationship between attributional style and depression. Data were collected from 226 university students and analyzed by using a series of path analyses. The following scales were used; Attributional style questionnaire, Self-esteem scale, Social support questionnaire, and Beck depression inventory. Results indicated that self-esteem mediated the relationship between attributional style for positive and negative outcomes and depression. The findings were discussed in the relation to the effects of attributional style on self-esteem, social support, and depression.

A Development of Risk-Taking Behavior Forecasting Model of Taxi driver's Risk-Taking Propensity by Structural Analysis (택시운수업 종사자 위험성향 관련 변인들의 구조적 분석을 통한 위험감행 예측 모형 개발)

  • This study analyzes taxi driver's risk-taking propensity with respect to risk-taking behaviour and traffic locus of control. In order to explore the traffic risk-taking, we present a predictive model by structural analysis of driver's risk-taking propensity. By applying this model to survey data from taxi drivers, we can observe that driver's risk-taking propensity has a significant impact on the traffic violation intention, and the higher perception of law and the lower lack of law-abiding drivers have, the more they tend to violate. Second, we test using multivariate analysis if the level of risk-taking propensity differs by the locus of control( external or internal). Drivers of external control shows higher risk-taking level compared to those of internal control so that the risk-taking propensity shows difference according to the locus of control for the responsibility of traffic accidents. The structural equation model of our study yielded ${\chi}^2$ = 279.7, ${\chi}^2$/df = 1.55, RMSEA = 0.44, GFI = 0.911, TLI = 0.916, CFI = 0.929.

  • For the purpose of turning learners' locus of control into internal-controllable variables, counseling materials were developed, and attribution counseling was given. The counseling effects were practically confirmed by way of teaching and evaluation in the actual classes, and furthermore the efforts to provide learners with successful experiences in learning were repeatedly made. As a result, the conclusions are as follows: 1. The procedure of Individual counseling for learning attribution based on individual standard grades and data of the variable order of merit apparently shows learners that if learners are to try their best in learning, they will surely go far in terms of learning in the near future. 2. The procedure of Individual counseling for teaming attribution based on achievement distribution in individual behavior-oriented fields suggests to learners that how to learn is as important as how much effort they make. Surely enough, learners are required to make more effective and efficient efforts, considering their own learning abilities. 3. With the above 1, 2 procedures involved, learners have attributed locus of causality in achievement to their internal-controllable causes. 4. With preparatory assignments according to learner's abilities provided, even slower learners came to be assured that their constant efforts could give rise to success in learning achievement. 5. Above all, it was confirmed that the learners' struggling attitude might well have a significant correlation with achievement success. The learners who are willing to attribute locus of causality in achievement to their internal-controllable causes or strenuous efforts and intrinsic motivation tend to be convinced that they can address themselves to whatever faces them, so they can set up specific learning goals fit for their abilities. Accordingly, they will bit by bit acquire successful experiences (often called 'Aha' experiences) and in turn, feeling the senses of self-efficacy and self-esteem enough to push their efforts even further, they can grow to form a positive self-concept. With one successful experience after another fed back into learners, they are gradually motivated to bring the oncoming achievement expectation to a higher level. To conclude, it is necessary that instruction leading to internal-controllable attribution should be provided, inducing learners to recognize success and failure in learning achievement as a result of their strenuous efforts.

Scholastic Self-Concept And Attribution Tendencies Of Institutionalized Children (시설아동의 학문적 자아개념과 귀인성향에 관한 연구)

  • The present research investigated scholastic self-concepts and attribution tendencies of institutionalized children in comparison with home-reared children. The subjects were 286 institutionalized and 327 home-reared fifth. sixth, seventh, and eighth grade children. Instruments were the Scholastic Self-Concept Test(Park. Lee. & Cho. 1980). the Attribution Tendency Test(Lee, 1983) and a questionnaire constructed by the researcher. Data were analyzed by ANOVA. Duncan's Test of Multiple Comparsion, and product- moment correlation coefficient(r). Findings showed that (1) the scholastic self-concept of institutionalized children was lower than that of home-reared children; (2) higher scholastic self-concept of institutionalized children was correlated with (i) higher degree of contentment with the institution. (ii) shorter length of residence in the institution. and (iii) older age at admission to the institution; (3) institutionalized children attributed achievement more to uncontrollable. external factors. while home-reared children attributed achievement more to controllable. internal factors; (4) institutionalized children with a lower degree of contentment with the institution attributed achievement to luck while those with a higher degree of contentment attributed achievement to ability; and (5) the higher the scholastic self-concept. the higher the tendency to attribute achievement to internal. controllable factors, and the lower the scholastic self-concept, the higher the tendency to attribute achievement to external, uncontrollable factors.

  • The use of smartphones has grown rapidly over a short period of time, particularly for commuting news search, smart banking, and social networking services, and has had a significant impact on the pattern of contemporary life. Further, a wide range of applications are downloaded on to smartphones. This has also led a considerable number of complaints regarding these applications. In this study, we focus on the levels of dissatisfaction that users experience with smartphone applications and their effects on consumer complaint behavior along with the moderating effects of the complaint handling process and attribution. The aim of this study is to verify whether the following hypothesis--2 (low/high dissatisfaction level of smartphone applications)${\times}2$ (poor/excellent complaint handling process)${\times}2$ (internal/external consumer attribution)--is in accordance with the betweengroup design to build a factorial design experiment. The results of this study are as follows. First, the consumer's tendency to complain significantly influenced their dissatisfaction level. Second, consumer complaint behavior is modulated by the complaint handling process. Third, the external-attribution tendency of consumers was found to lead to more dissatisfaction than the tendency for internal attribution.

Relationship of Attribution Styles and Science-related Attitude and Science Process Skills of Science-gifted (초등학교 과학영재의 귀인성향과 과학 관련 태도 및 과학탐구능력과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study is examine relationship of attribution styles and attitude toward Science and Science Process Skills of Science-gifted, to understand unique characteristics of the Science-gifted and to give useful information that can be use in develop special programs for the Science-gifted. The result of this study were as follows: First, there was no difference between genders. But there was a significant difference in attribution of luck. Second, there was a correlation between internal tendencies and Scientific attitude. Especially attribution of effort correlated with sub - constituent of Scientific attitude. Internal tendencies correlated with the Cognition in Scientific Professions that sub - constituent of the attitude toward Science. Third, There was a correlation between external tendencies and the interest activity in Science that sub - constituent of the attitude toward Science. There are correlations between sub - constituent of the attitude toward Science and sub - constituent of external tendencies that attribution of luck and interest in Scientific Professions, attribution of task difficulty and Cognition activity in Science. Fourth There was no correlation between Attribution styles and Science Process Skills. But Internal tendencies correlated with classification that sub - constituent of Science Process Skills. And classification correlated with attribution of ability that sub - constituent of external tendencies. Attribution of effort that sub - constituent of internal tendencies correlated with Science Process Skills.

Effect of Attribution Disposition and Self-Efficacy on Clinical Practice Competence of Nursing Student (간호대학생의 귀인성향과 자기효능감이 임상수행능력에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of attribution disposition and self-efficacy on clinical practice competence of nursing students. Methods: A descriptive survey design was used. Participants were 214 nursing students who were collected using a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed by frequencies, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple stepwise regression via spss win 21.0. Results: The total mean score for attribution disposition was $3.73{\pm}0.46$, self-efficacy was $3.20{\pm}0.42$, and clinical competence was $3.44{\pm}0.47$. Clinical competence is significantly and positively correlated with attribution disposition (r=.179, p=009) and self-efficacy (r=.379, p<.001). In a multivariate approach, predictors included explained 33.5% of variance in clinical competence. Significant predictors of clinical competence were attribution disposition (${\beta}=.245$, p<.001), self-efficacy (${\beta}=.380$, p<.001), and satisfaction with the nursing (${\beta}=.246$, p<.001). Conclusion: Development of an effective intervention program is needed to improve nursing students clinical practice competence, attribution disposition and attribution disposition of nursing students.

Media Criticism on TV for the Last 10 Years: A Content Analysis of (TV 미디어 비평의 어제와 오늘: <미디어비평(KBS)> 10년, 내용분석)

  • It has been 10 years since KBS first broadcasted TV program for the purpose of expanding mutual criticism among Korean mass media. This study conducted a content analysis of KBS episodes for the last 10 years. Through the content analysis, this study explored what the program had showed us in the aspects of 'the subject of criticism', 'the ground of criticism', 'the attribution of criticism'. The content analysis could show meaningful results to the study of media criticism, because it not only provides a meta-analysis of the problems Korean mass media have had for the last 10 years but also examines the program has been consistent in the regard of criticism fairness. The result of this study showed that has pointed out the practices of unfairness, political bias and superficial and shallow reporting as the most critical problems the Korean mass media have. Also, the result showed that had not been consistent in the regards of 'the subject of criticism', 'the ground of criticism', 'the attribution of criticism'. While the program mostly focused on the problems of political bias and unfairness in the early stage, the focus of criticism moved to the problems of sensationalism and superficial reporting laster. This study discussed that the change of criticism might have a relation with the change of KBS governance.
