The Mediating Effect of Mobile Phone Dependency in the Relationship between Parent's Neglecting Attitude and Adolescent's Adult Media Immersion (부모의 방임적 양육태도와 청소년의 성인매체 몰입간의 관계에서 휴대전화 의존의 매개효과 검증)

  • This study aims to examine whether a Parent's Neglecting Attitude affects an Adult Media Immersion and Adolescent' Dependence on mobile phonehas a mediating effect. To achieve this goal, the first year of middle school panel of 'the 6th Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS)' was utilized. To verify the mediating effect of Adolescent' Dependence on mobile phone in the relationship between Parent's Neglecting Attitude by Adolescents and the Adult Media Immersion, Baron & Kenny's mediating effect analysis method was conducted and the analytical findings are shown below. According to this study, first of all, more the Parent's Neglecting Attitude rise to rise the Adult Media Immersion. Second, the Adolescent's Dependence on mobile phone partly mediates the Adult Media Immersion. The practical implications of this results are below : First, we need to make a policy and legal effort to improve the relationship between parents and children. Second, there is a need to practice professional programs in schools, focusing on school social worker. Third, Revision of relevant laws limiting access to adult media is necessary.

The Effects of Parental Neglect on Adolescent's Peer Attachment : Focusing the Mediating Effect of Adult Media Immersion (부모의 방임이 청소년의 또래애착에 미치는 영향: 성인용 매체 몰입의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to examine whether a parental neglect affects an adolescent's peer attachment and adult media immersion has a mediating effect. To achieve this goal, the first year of middle school panel of 'the 6th(2015) Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS)' was utilized. Using SPSS PROCESS Macro developed by Hayes, 'Bootstrapping' was employed to examine the significancy of the mediating effect on 563 objectives. According to the study, first of all, more parental neglect gave rise to less peer attachment. Second, the adult media immersion partly mediates the parental neglect and the adolescent's peer attachment. The practical implications of this results are below : First, parents' care and affection inside a home is necessary to formulate the healthy peer attachment of adolescent. Second, a parent education is important to prevent an adolescent's adult media immersion. Third, an adult media education for an adolescent is desired.

A Study on Relationship between Media Environment and Adolescent Cyber-Delinquency : Focused on X-rated Media Commitment (매체환경과 청소년 사이버비행과의 관계에 대한 연구 : 성인매체몰입을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate what factors affect cyber-delinquency after examining the previous research focusing on the general strain theory and the delinquency opportunity theory in the existing studies. And as adolescents move from middle school to high school, this study is intended to analyze what factors affect cyber-delinquency from a longitudinal perspective using KCYPS(Korea Child and Youth Panel Survey) elementary 4th grade fourth and seventh data. The adolescence cyber-delinquency probability of occurrence were analyzed through the panel logit fixed-effect model using STATA. And then the cyber-delinquency frequency of adolescents were analyzed through the panel tobit random-effect model. As a result of analyzing the factors affecting cyber-delinquency frequency, Adult media commitment, computer use time, and cell phone dependency increased cyber-delinquency frequency. On the other hand, among the parenting attitudes, the attitude of supervising attentively and adolescents' age-increasing decreased cyber-delinquency frequency.

A Study on the Reading Efficiency of Comics (만화의 독서 효용성에 관한 연구)

  • This study focuses on how the characteristics of the comics make the medium a useful reading material. To highlight how the characteristics of comics enhance the media's capacity for reading, this study analyzed several patterns of adaptation from a comic to other media. The usefulness of comics as a reading text can be summarized as follows: First, comics have alternate phases of immersion and concentration. Second, comics provide the whole view as well as speed. These two factors make the comics as an interesting reading material.

Factors Influencing Adult Media Engagement of Adolescents from Micro-systemic Perspective: Mediation Analysis of Cell-Phone Dependency (미시체계적관점에서의 청소년 성인매체 몰입에 미치는 영향요인: 휴대폰 의존의 매개효과 검정)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to find the factors influencing adolescents' adult media engagement. The study is based on Agnew's General Strain Theory (GST) and a micro-systemic perspective. Methods: The study examined 479 middle school freshmen who participated in the fourth wave of the Korean Children & Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) conducted by National Youth Policy Institute. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and reliability analysis using SPSS 22.0 Ver. Also, hypothesis testing was performed via covariance-based structure equation modeling (CB-SEM) using Amos 21.0 Ver. Results: Strain factors had positive effects on adolescent depression, and depression had a positive effect on adult media engagement. Also, cell-phone dependency had a positive mediation effect between depression and adult media engagement. Conclusion: The study's result identified the factors affecting adult media engagement. Therefore, we suggest intervention programs considering adolescents' strains, depression and cell-phone dependency to improve their health.
