  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of job embeddedness and job satisfaction on turnover intention in nurses. Methods: The study design was a descriptive survey and questionnaires were collected from May 1 to 31, 2014. Participants were 216 nurses. Data were analyzed using independent t-test, Scheff$\acute{e}$ test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and hierarchical multiple regression with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: Job embeddedness was positively correlated with job satisfaction and negative correlations with turnover intention. Finally, job embeddedness and job satisfaction accounted for 33.1% of the variance in turnover intention. Conclusion: Results indicate that job embeddedness and job satisfaction are factors influencing turnover intention. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and make available programs embracing factors in the prevention and reduction of turnover intention.

  • Purpose: To evaluate heart failure knowledge and adherence to self-care behaviors, and to identify factors affecting adherence to self-care behaviors among Korean patients with heart failure. Methods: Correlational research using the European Heart Failure Self-care Behavior Scale, the Duke Activity Status Index, the Dutch Heart Failure Knowledge Scale, the New York Heart Association Functional Classification, and the Medical Outcomes Study Social Support Survey was conducted. A total of 280 outpatients with heart failure responded to the five questionnaires. Results: The mean scores for self-care adherence and heart failure knowledge were $31.98{\pm}6.81$ and $8.78{\pm}2.53$, respectively, indicating lower adherence and knowledge than those previously reported. Subjects with lower functional status, more social supports, and greater knowledge of heart failure are more likely to adhere to prescribed regimens. Conclusion: Nurses should focus on patient education and support to improve their adherence to self-care behaviors.

  • This study has been designed to develop a health behavior scale. Data were collected through a survey over a period of two month period. Subjects who participated in the study were 298 Korean adults. The author used a convenience sampling method. The analysis of the data was done with SPSS PC for descriptive statistics and factor analysis. Initially 34 items were generated from the interview data of twenty one adults and from literature review and survey. This preliminary scale was analyzed for a reliability and validity. The results are as follow : 1. Crombach Coefficient alpha for the 30 items was .7907. 2. Factor analysis was done in order to confirm construct validity and nine factor were extracted from the results. These contributed 54.4% of the variance in the total score. 3. Nine factor label were 'exercise' 'stress management' 'energy conservation' 'limit in liking' 'selection of food' 'ingestion of natural food' 'health examination' 'relaxation' and 'nutrition'. The author suggests that this scale could be adequately applied in assessing the health behavior of Korean adults. The results of using this scale in a study can contribute to designing an appropriate health promotion strategy.

The subjects were sample of 298 adults from five cities. The instrument for this study were Health Behavior Assessment tool (30 items, 4 scale). Frequency, percentage, t-test, ANOVA, cluster analysis with SPSS program were used to analyze the data. The results of the study are as follows ; 1) The average item score for health behavior was 2.56, the highest score on the subscale was limitation of liking(M=3.16), followed by stress management (M=2.98), nutrition(M=2.82), energy conservation (M=2.67). 2) A significant difference between age, sex, perception of health, and health behavior were found. 3) Pattern of health behavior among Korean adults focused on stress management in order to obtain emotional stability, and balance and harmony in dietary life, and energy conservation. Patterns of health behavior in Korean adults is unique in each individual. Forty participants were assigned to either an experimental group(20) or a control group(20). Foot reflexology massage was administered twice a week for 6 weeks in the participant in experimental group. Results: There were statistically significant differences in climacteric symptom, fatigue, total cholesterol and cortisol level. However, there were no statistically significant differences in triglyceride, high density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein. Conclusion; These results suggest that foot reflexology massage could be utilized as an effective nursing intervention to reduce climacteric symptom and fatigue in middle-aged women.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of aquatic exercise on rehabilitation in home stroke patients. Method: A quasi-experimental pretest and posttest design was used to examine the change of balance, ADL, IADL, pain, depression and self-efficacy atthe completion of 6-weeks aquatic exercise program. The subjects consisted of 25 adults who had a stroke. Thirteen experimental and twelve control subjects completed pre and post test measures. Outcome variables were balance, ADL, IADL, pain, depression and self-efficacy. Chi-Square test(Fisher's exact method) was used to examine the equality of the subjects and Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test used to examine the group difference by using SAS. Results: There was no significant difference in balance and depression between the two groups. However, there was a significant difference in ADL, IADL, pain and self-efficacy between the two groups. Conclusion: Aquatic exercise can improve ADL, IADL, self-efficacy and reduce pain. Therefore, further research is recommended by increasing the length of aquatic exercise and number of subjects, so that its effects can be more generalizable.
