Because of the development of Smart phone devices, the demands of high performance FPU(Floating-point Unit) becomes increasing. Therefore, we propose the high-speed single-/double-precision FPU design that includes an elementary add/sub unit and improved multiplier and compare and convert units. The most commonly used add/sub unit is optimized by the parallel rounding unit. The matrix operation is used in complex calculation something like a graphic calculation. We designed the Multiply-Add Fused(MAF) instead of multiplier to calculate the matrix more quickly. The branch instruction that is decided by the compare operation is very frequently used in various programs. We bypassed the result of the compare operation before all the pipeline processes ended to decrease the total execution time. And we included additional convert operations that are added in IEEE754-2008 standard. To verify our RTL designs, we chose four hundred thousand test vectors by weighted random method and simulated each unit. The FPU that was synthesized by Samsung's 45-nm low-power process satisfied the 600-MHz operation frequency. And we confirm a reduction in area by comparing the improved FPU with the existing FPU.

Recently, the need for accessing information from anywhere at any time has been a driving force for a variety of mobile applications. As the number of mobile applications increases rapidly, there has been a growing demand for the use of Service Oriented Architectures(SOA) for various applications. Mobile based SOA offers a systematic way to classify and assess technical realizations of business processes. But mobile has severly restricted range of utilizing services in computing environment and more, a mobile computer is envisioned to be equipped with more powerful capabilities, including the storage of a small database, the capacity of data processing, a narrow user input and small size of display. This paper present mobile adaption method based on SOA to overcome mobile restriction. To improve mobile efficient we analyzing mobile application requirement writing service specification, optimizing design, providing extended use case specification which test use case testing and testing service test case which derived from service specification. We discuss an mobile application testing that uses a SOA as a model for deploying discovering, specifying, integrating, implementing, testing, and invoking services. Such a service use case specification and testing technique including some idea could help the mobile application to develop cost efficient and dependable mobile services.

Recently, governmental authority and local government are looking for a method of utilizing location information of smart phone for urgent rescue in fire and kidnap situation. Under this background, in this study, a method of rapidly collecting, constructing location determination based Wi-Fi AP data utilizing location information of smart phone and mobile mapping system was suggested in order to construct precise positioning information that could be utilized under urgent situation. By performing compensation work for GPS/INS/DMI through collected outcome, position of collected vehicle was acquired. In addition, source data integrating Wi-Fi information and collected position by coupling based on Wi-Fi AP collector and GPS time was constructed and Wi-Fi radiomap was constructed by removing Wi-Fi signal noise that reduces precise position performance. As a result of performing location determination performance assess ment by selecting 10 test positions by each local government, result value of 25.46cm for total local government average and 27.76m for SD could be obtained. It is considered that this result could be utilized as a technology of being able to supplement or substituting GPS location determination technology that is impossible in plocation determination of mobile communication company's base station (200m~2km) and indoor being used at present.

There are many image processing based algorithms and applications that fail when illumination change occurs. Therefore, the illumination change has to be detected then the illumination change occurred images need to be enhanced in order to keep the appropriate algorithm processing in a reality. In this paper, a new method for detecting illumination changes efficiently in a real time by using local region information and fuzzy logic is introduced. The effective way for detecting illumination changes in lighting area and the edge of the area was selected to analyze the mean and variance of the histogram of each area and to reflect the changing trends on previous frame's mean and variance for each area of the histogram. The ways are used as an input. The changes of mean and variance make different patterns w hen illumination change occurs. Fuzzy rules were defined based on the patterns of the input for detecting illumination changes. Proposed method was tested with different dataset through the evaluation metrics; in particular, the specificity, recall and precision showed high rates. An automatic parameter selection method was proposed for contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization method by using entropy of image through adaptive neural fuzzy inference system. The results showed that the contrast of images could be enhanced. The proposed algorithm is robust to detect global illumination change, and it is also computationally efficient in real applications.
An adaptive multi-rate (AMR) speech coder was adopted as a standard of W-CDMA by 3GPP and ETSI. The AMR coder is based on the CELP algorithm operating at rates ranging from 12.2 kbps down to 4.75 kbps, and it is a source controlled codec according to the channel error conditions and the traffic loading. In this paper, we implement the DSP S/W of the AMR coder using OakDSPCore. The implementation is based on the CSD17C00A chip developed by C&S Technology, and it is tested using test vectors, for the AMR speech codec, provided by ETSI for the bit exact implementation. The DSP B/W requires 20.6 MIPS for the encoder and 2.7 MIPS for the decoder. Memories required by the Am coder were 21.97 kwords, 6.64 kwords and 15.1 kwords for code, data sections and data ROM, respectively. Also, actual sound input/output test using microphone and speaker demonstrates its proper real-time operation without distortions or delays.
Physics-based sound synthesis usually requires high computational costs and this results in a restriction of its use in real-time applications. This motivates us to implement the sound synthesis algorithm of plucked-string instruments using multi-core processor architectures and determine the optimal processing element (PE) configuration for the target instruments. To determine the optimal PE configuration, we evaluate the impacts of a sample-per-processing element (SPE) ratio that is defined as the amount of sample data directly mapped to each PE on system performance and both area and energy efficiencies using architectural and workload simulations. For the acoustic guitar, the highest area and energy efficiencies are achieved at a SPE ratio of 5,513 and 2,756, respectively, for the synthesis of musical sounds sampled at 44.1 kHz. In the case of the classical guitar, the maximum area and energy efficiencies are achieved at a SPE ratio of 22,050 and 5,513, respectively. In addition, the synthetic sounds were very similar to original sounds in their spectra. Furthermore, we conducted MUSHRA subjective listening test with ten subjects including nine graduate students and one professor from the University of Ulsan, and the evaluation of the synthetic sounds was excellent.
This paper proposes a rewriting algorithm of OWL-DL ontology query in SPARQL. Currently, to obtain inference results of given SPARQL queries, Web ontology repositories construct inference ontology models and match the SPARQL queries with the models. However, an inference model requires much larger space than its original base model, and reusability of the model is not available for other inferrable SPARQL queries. Therefore, the aforementioned approach is not suitable for large scale SPARQL query processing. To resolve tills issue, this paper proposes a novel SPARQL query rewriting algorithm that can obtain results by rewriting SPARQL queries and accomplishing query operations against the base ontology model. To achieve this goal, we first define OWL-DL inference rules and apply them on rewriting graph pattern in queries. The paper categorizes the inference rules and discusses on how these rules affect the query rewriting. To show the advantages of our proposal, a prototype system based on lena is implemented. For comparative evaluation, we conduct an experiment with a set of test queries and compare of our proposal with the previous approach. The evaluation result showed the proposed algorithm supports an improved performance in efficiency of the inferrable SPARQL query processing without loss of completeness and soundness.

This paper presents an electrical power monitoring system for home energy management and an automatic appliance-identification algorithm based on the electricity-usage patterns collected during the monitoring tests. This paper also discusses the results of the field tests of which the proposed system was voluntarily deployed at 13 homes. The proposed monitoring system periodically measures the amount of power consumption of each appliance with a pre-specified time interval and effectively displays the essential information provided by the monitored data which is required users to know in order to save power consumption. Regarding the field tests of the monitoring system, the households responded that the system was useful in saving electricity and especially the electricity-usage patterns per appliances. They also considered that the predicted amount of the monthly power consumption was effective. The proposed appliance-identification algorithm uses 4 patterns: Zero-Crossing Rate(ZC), Variation of On State(VO), Slope of On State(SO) and Duty Cycle(DC), which are applied over the 2 hour interval with 25% of it on state, and it yielded 82.1% of success rate in identifying 5 kinds of appliances: refrigerator, TV, electric rice-cooker, kimchi-refrigerator and washing machine.

With recent technological advances in the shipbuilding industry, vessels have been improved in size and performance. As a result, an accident such as grounding, caused by a single ship-to-ship collision, could lead to a large-scale maritime disaster. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the international community has been consistently updating the standards for Electronic Navigational Chart(ENC) to improve the maritime safety. S-57, the existing ENC standard governed by the International Hydrographic Organization(IHO), includes standards for generating conventional binary-type ENC data sets. The S-57 standard, however, has not been updated since the release of Version 3.1 in December 2000. Since then, the standard has failed to reflect technological development regarding maritime spacial information, which has been consistently improving. In an effort to address this concern, the IHO designated S-100, i.e., the next-generation ENC production standard. S-100 differs from S-57 in data exchange type. Contrary to the conventional ENC standards, which use binary-type data, S-10X, based on the next-generation ENC standards, uses ENC data composed of Feature Catalogue, Portrayal Catalogue, and GML. Considering this fact, it is necessary to update S-58, the ENC validation check standard, or designate a new standard for ENC validation checks. This study is developed own software to implement validation checks for new types of data, and identified improvement points based on the test results.

In this study, a small movable batch treatment system for dredging soil deposited in a rain water tube is proposed; further, a vacuum silo sorting separation device with a vacuum silo, first-stage sorting separator, and conveyor is designed. The vacuum silo sorting separation device also consists of a storage tank, transferring screw, vacuum gate, screen bar, screen bar cleaner, and vacuum discharging device. In view of the fact that the flow of drawn air in the storage tank is a major factor influencing the sorting separation performance, the optimum shape of the tank is determined by CFD flow analysis. In addition, by using CAE structure analysis, the safety of a storage tank made of boards is examined. The specifications of the vacuum silo sorting separation device are determined by conducting mechanical and dynamic simulations of the driving mechanism of the vacuum silo sorting separation device through 3D-CAD modeling. Following this study, we will design a drum-screen-type second sorter, a decanter-type dehydration device, and waste water tank and pump as a secondary device. Further, on the basis of this design, we will construct a prototype model and carry out a field test.
