To establish an optimum condition in the surface treatment and curing process will be an important parameters for the fabrication of multilayered hybrid composite materials, A17075/CFRP (CARALL : carbon fiber reinforce aluminum laminates). Effects of carbon fiber direction and thickness variation in tensile strength were investigated. And impact damage behavior of carbon fiber reinforce plastic (CFRP) and CARALL were investigated also, it was found that a partial stress increase in order of epoxy adhesive, A17075, CFRP. And the partial stress of CFRP carried out a great portion of applied stress. The impact damage resistance of CARALL was higher than that of CFRP. This is because both side Al sheet of CARALL absorb a great of impact damage.

High-purity waste CNTs were mixed into cement mortar to manufacture heat-generating concrete that can use low voltage power, and carbon fiber and waste cathode materials were also used improve the conductivity of the mortar. The waste CNTs were analyzed to have a high concentration of multi-walled CNTs, and substituted liquid type waste CNTs were used during mortar mixing in order to increase dispersibility. The temperature change of the mortar with CNT was evaluated when using electric power below DC 24 V in order to utilize a small self-generation facility such as small solar power module when the mortar heats up and to minimize electromagnetic waves. When liquid-type waste CNTs were applied and a voltage of DC 24 V was introduced, it rose to 60 ℃ in a 200 × 100 × 50 mm mortar block specimen. The field applicability of self heating mortar with waste CNT was sufficient and also the amount of change in heat energy in mortar with liquid type waste CNT, carbon fiber and waste cathode materials is more effective compared to it of other variables.
Determination of dietary fiber contents in some Korean foods was attempted by Englyst's gas chromatographic and colorimetric methods which measure the nonstarch polysaccharide (NSP) contents NSP values, except seaweeds, by gas chromatography (x) and colorimetry (y) were very closely correlated (y=1.01x-0.52, r=0.997, n=9), NSP values by gas chromatography were lower than total dietary fiber (TDF) Haloes by AOAC method. By adding lignin to NSP values, relation between the two methods was improved. But, TDF values (y) by adding lignin to NSP values and TDF values (x) by AOAC method were related as y=0.68x-0.64 and F=0.903(n= 12), which was not closely related.

As one of the methods for recycling the FRP used for the small and medium-sized waste ships, separation of the roving layer from the mat has some merit in a sense of the recycling energy and the environmental effects. Similar characteristics between the roving and the mat make the mechanically automatic differentiation difficult. They, however, contain different ratio of the resin and the glass and the thickness. In this study photo physical differentiation between the two layers has been made using (1) boiling concentrated sulfuric acid which can dissolve the resin in the FRP layer and (2) hydrogen fluoride(HF) solution which can reacts with $SiO_2$ fragments of the glass. Furthermore coloring the FRP sample with water-soluble dye following the HF treatment makes the roving layer more distinguishable photophysically. The implementation of HF treatment has been successfully tested in this study.

Yuza (Citrus junos Sieb ex TANAKA) is a citrus fruit that is cultivated in northeast Asia. Citron is known for containing abundant antioxidants such as vitamin C, flavonoids, for example hesperidin and hesperetin, and terpenoids such as limononin. When mature citron is processed for tea or other beverage food products in Korea, massive amounts of seeds and pericarp are remained as waste. This study aimed to exploit the processed remnant of Citron for developing functional cosmetic applications. Ethanol extracts of Yuza seed and pericarp did not show significant radical scavenging activities measured by DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method. But they contained significantly high phenolic compounds. Cultured human dermal fibroblasts and HaCaT keratinocytes were irradiated with 25 mJ UVB and the citron extracts were added to the medium of each culture. Cellular damages caused by UVB irradiation were prevented by the addition of the Yuza extract. In addition, the reduction of the enhanced MMP-1 expression after irradiation of UVB in human dermal fibroblasts was observed. Also the increased level of pro-inflammtory TNF-$\alpha$ in the UVB irradiated HaCaT cells was decreased. The collagen expression was enhanced by the extract. Yuza extract markedly inhibited melanin production from $\alpha$-MSH treated B16F1 melanoma cells. Melanin assay, tyrosinase zymography results indicated that Yuza extract had strong depigmenting activity. In conclusion, Yuza ethanol extracts have good anti-photoaging and strong anti-melanogenic efficacies.

This study investigated the effects of different kinds of dietary fibers, cellulose, psyllium husk, pectin and the Psyllium husk Plus Pectin, on the lipid concentration and hernobiochemical enzyme activity in male Sprague-Dawley rats. The experimental groups were divided into four groups : the cellulose group, the psyllium husk group, the pectin group and the psyllium husk Plus Pectin group. Dietary fiber was supplemented at 10% (w/w) levels in the diet. Body weight gain, food intake and relative tissue seight were not significantly different among the dietary groups. Concentrations of triglyceride and phospholipid of serum in the psyllium husk and the pectin groups were significantly lower than those of the cellulose and the psyllium husk plus pectin groups. Concentration of total cholesterol of serum in the psyllium husk plus pectin group was lower than other dietary groups. However, concentrations of triglyceride and phospholipid of liver in the psyllium husk and the pectin groups were significantly higher than those of the cellulose and the psyllium husk plus pectin groups. The hemobiochemical Parameters, total protein, albumin, glutamic pyruvic transaminase, glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase, alkaline phosphatase, lactate dehydrogenase and blood urea nitrogen in serum of the psyllium husk group were lower than other dietary groups. These results showed that dietary psyllium husk could have lowering effects on serum triglyceride concentration without any side effect of hemobiochemical enzyme activity in rats.

In this study, ten different bio-adsorbents were prepared by immobilization of vegetable tannins such as mimosa(Catechol Tannin) and chestnut(Pyrogallol Tannin) on the collagen matrix which was derived from during leather manufacturing processing. Removal efficiency of Cu(II), Cd(II), Zn(II), Pb(II), Cr(III) by each bio-adsorbent in synthetic wastewater was evaluated by a laboratory-scale batch reactor at different reaction conditions. When mimosa was used as a vegetable tannin, the penetration efficiency of mimosa into the inner bundle of fiber depended on the dose of the naphthalene condensated penetrant; 3% ${\geq}$ 1.5% > 0%. For all bio-adsorbents, removal of heavy metal ions was not observed below pH 3.0 but was rapidly increased between pH 3.0 and 6.0, showing near complete removal of all heavy metal ions except Zn(II) above pH 6.0. Removal of Cr(III) was quite similar for all bio-adsorbents while removal of Cu(II), Zn(II) and Pb(II) was higher by bio-adsorbents immobilized with chestnut than that by mimosa. Adsorption of Pb(II) and Cu(II) by S10 bio-adsorbent was little affected by the presence of monovalent and divalent electrolytes as well as variation of 1000 times ionic concentration with $NaNO_3$.
In recent years due to the development of urban and underground space, the number of ground disasters is increasing, and it is also leading to social problems. To solve the problem, a grouting method is generally used. However, the grouting method has material (grout) limitations in permeability, gelation properties and tensile resistance. Therefore, research on grout materials mixed with fibers is actively carried out to improve the problems. However, in the actual ground injection process, many difficulties have been faced causing the blockage of the inlet port and the injection tube. In this study, 'CNT-mixed grout material' was developed using CNT powder that can reinforce the tensile strength of soils. The uniaxial compressive and tensile strength tests were performed to obtain the optimal content and mechanical properties of the CNT Powder-mixed grout. It was found that the optimal CNT powder content is 0.5% that gives the average maximum strength. A one-dimensional injection test and the bulb formation test were carried out, and it was identified that the injection rate and bulb form could be controlled by pressure and mixing ratio. Field application of the CNT-Mixed grout is simulated using numerical analysis of slopes, foundations, and tunnels reinforced in several types. The positive effect of reducing plastic ranges and settlements was confirmed.

Wet wipes are being increasingly used because of their convenience. Particularly, oral wet wipes are useful for regular cleaning of a baby's mouth after birth. Therefore, the consumption of oral wet wipes has increased over the past few years and a variety of products are commercially available. However, product information on safety is not sufficiently provided and still raises doubts regarding adverse effects. To confirm the safety of wet wipes as an oral hygiene item and provide information for their use, we investigated the cytotoxicity of oral wet wipes and verified the underlying mechanism. The anti-bacterial effect of oral wet wipes was analyzed using the disk diffusion method. The cytotoxic effects of oral wet wipes were observed based on morphological changes using microscopy and determined using a 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay in gingival epithelial cells and gingival fibroblasts. Evaluation of apoptosis by oral wet wipes was explored using propidium iodide flow cytometric analysis and a terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT)-mediated deoxyuridine triphosphate (dUTP) nick-end labeling (TUNEL) assay. Apoptosis-related molecules were also analyzed using western blotting. Five types of oral wet wipes were tested, and two products from Fisher-Price and Dr. Kennedy revealed strong cytotoxic effects on gingiva epithelial cells and gingiva fibroblasts, although they also showed intense anti-bacterial effects on oral bacteria. Cell cycle arrest in the G2/M phase and apoptosis were observed based on treatment of extracts from Fisher-Price and Dr. KENNEDY. Relatively high TUNEL levels, reduction of proliferating cell nuclear antigen and cyclin-dependent kinase 4 expression, and fragmentation of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase were also elucidated. These results suggest that commercial oral wet wipes could exert cytotoxic influences on oral tissue, although there are anti-bacterial effects, and careful attention is required, especially for infants and toddlers.
