Studies on the Nutritional Components of Purple Sweet Potato(Ipomoea batatas) (자색(紫色) 고구마의 영양성분에 관한 연구)

  • Two sweet potato CV.(Ipomoea batatas) were examined, i.e. purple flesh sweet potato(PSP) and light yellow flesh sweet potato(LYSP) which varied in degree of sweetness. On a fresh weight basis, nitrogen free extract in cultivars ranged from $25.73{\sim}26.24%$ and PSP contained more crude fat than LYSP. Total amino acids of PSP and LYSP were 5676.57mg% and 4550.86mg%, respectively. Aspartic acid, serine, alanine and valine were the major components in sweet potatoes. Sulfur-containing amino acids are the first limiting amino acid in PSP. The major fatty acids in PSP and LYSP analyzed by GC were palmitic acid, linoleic acid. The content of the saturated fatty acid was less than that of the unsaturated fatty acid. Carbohydrate contents were $75.43{\sim}79.10%$ and neutral sugars contents were $67.22{\sim}64.85%$(dry wt). Two sweet potato CV. contained the most glucose of all neutral sugars. PSP contained 11.88% for uronic acid, 59.42% for starch. Free sugars of PSP(0.82%) was much less than that of LYSP(2.53%). The contents of thiamin, riboflavin and niacin were similar, and the ascorbic acid contents in PSP and LYSP were 63.4mg% and 48.7mg%(dry wt), respectively. Comparing the mineral content in PSP, K was the greatest element in concentration followed by mg, Ca, Na. The total dietary fiber(TDF) value was 13.43% in PSP, 9.79% in LYSP respectively. The ratio of soluble dietary fiber(SDF) content and insoluble dietary fiber(IDF) content to TDF content for PSP were 57.6%, 42.4%, respectively.

Nutritive Components of Edible Bamboo Shoots of Phyllostachys edulis Produced in Korea (한국산(韓國產) 맹종죽(孟宗竹) 죽순(竹筍)의 성분(成分)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • To find the nutritive values of the edible bamboo shoot (Playllostachys edulis) produced in Korea, the component analysis was conducted using the fresh and canned bamboo shoot. As the principal component ; water, protein, lipid, sucrose, ash, cellulose and calorie content were measured in fresh bamboo shoot and canned bamboo shoot. Also the content of minerals ; K, P, Ca, Fe and Vitamins were analysed and compared between fresh and canned bamboo shoot. The contents of component were devided into upper, middle and bottom bamboo parts. The contents of protein, lipid, ash, cellulose and calories of raw bamboo shoot were higher than those of canned shoot. Generally, the components of bamboo shoot produced in Korea were not significantly different to those of Ueda's results in Japan. But the contents of lipid, calcium and potassium were higher in Korean bamboo shoot.

Antioxidative Activity and Related Compounds of Apple Pomace (사과박의 항산화 활성 및 항산화 성분)

  • To enhance the utilization of apple pomace for the functional food resources, we analyzed the useful components and examined the antioxidant activity of apple pomace. The contents of total dietary fiber, total flavonoid, total phenolic acid and vitamine C were 55.56%, 458 mg%, 1048 mg% and 19.8 mg%, respectively. Protocatechuic acid, cinamic acid, caffeic acid, ferulic acid, syringic acid, vanillic acid and phydroxybenzoic acid were identified in the apple pomace extract by GC-MS. Phloridzin and quercetin-3-glucoside were identified in the apple pomace extract by HPLC. Ethyl acetate fraction showed the highest antioxidative ability by ferric thiocyanate method. Malondialdehyde(MDA) formation in normal rat liver tissue also showed the lowest in ethyl acetate fraction.

  • A pyrolysis gas-chromatographic method (Py-GC) was utilized for the identification as well as the content measurement of textile materials. Py-GC was applied to natural cotton fiber, synthetic polyester fiber, and their blended fabrics. The characteristic peaks originated from thermally decomposed products were observed, and the area of peak increased with the content of polyester. The products of pyrolized polyester were identified as benzoic acid terephthalic acid, and vinyl benzoic acid, which were characterized by mass spectrometry. This analytic method of offered a quantitative means to identify the content of cotton and polyester.

THE MORPHOLOGICAL OBSERVATION OF HUMAN GINGIVAL FIBROBLASTS ATTACHMENT AND SPREADING ON THE MECHANICAL TREATED TITANIUM PLASMA SPRAYED IMPLANT SURFACE (기계적 표면 처리된 TITANIUM PLASMA SPRAYED IMPLANT에 대한 치은섬유아세포전개양상의 형태학적 관찰)

  • Currently titanium is the material of choice for implants because of its biological acceptance. This high degree of biocompatibility is thought to result, in part, from the protective and stable oxide layer that presumably aids in the bonding of the extracellular matrix at the implant-tissue interface. Endosseous dental implants are interfaced with bone, connective tissue, and epithelium when implanted into the jaw bone. The soft tissue interface including connective tissue and epithelium is one of the most critical factors in the determination of implant maintenance and prognosis. For maintenance of failing or failed implants, it is essential to treat the implant fixture surface to remove bacterial endotoxins and make a surface tolerated by surrounding soft and hard tissues. In this study, the effect of mechanical treatment on titanium plasma sprayed implant on adhesiveness and proliferation of human gingival fibroblasts and changed surface characteristics were studied. titanium plasma sprayed discs manufactured by Friedrichsfeld company were treated with loaw speed stone bur, a rubber point and a jetpolisher. Its surface components were analyzed with Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy to evaluate whether the surface characteristics were altered or not. To observe the spreading pattern of the human gingival fibroblasts which attached to the all specimens author used the scanning electron microscope. The results were as follows : Pure titanium and plasma sprayed titanium, stone polished titanium showed titanium peak and small amout of aluminum, so there was no alteration on surface characteristics. Under the scanning electron microscopic examination in the initial attachment of human gingival fibroblast, there was a slight enhancement in pure titanium, stone polished titanium than plasma sprayed titanium. After 6 hours, the pure titanium and stone polished titanium showed human gingival fibroblasts were elongated and connected with numerous processes. Human gingival fibroblasts were more intimately attached on the pure titanium discs than on the other discs. The human gingival fibroblasts attached on the plasma sprayed titanium by thin and elongated processes. After 24 hours, the human gingival fibroblasts connected with each other via numerous processes and compeletly covered the pure titanium and stone polshed titanium discs. Human gingival fibroblasts had multiple point contacts with more long and thin lamellopodia and showed a little bare surface on plasma sprayed titanium discs.

Protective Effect of Various Grain Methanolic Extracts against UVB-induced Photo-aging in Human Skin Fibroblasts (인체 피부 섬유아세포에서 자외선 조사에 대한 다양한 곡류 메탄올 추출물의 보호 효과)

  • In the present study, we investigated the protective effect of various grain methanolic extracts against UVB-induced photo-aging in human skin fibroblasts. Various grain methanolic extracts were evaluated for their antioxidant compounds and activities. 2,2-Ddiphenyl-1-picryhydrazyl radical (DPPH) and ABTS 2,2-azino-bris-(3-ethylbenzoth iazoline-6-sulphonic acid) radical cation scavenging activities have been used to measure the relative antioxidant activities of extracts from grains. The content of total polyphenolics in the extracts were evaluated using spectrophotometric methods. Human skin fibroblast (Hs68) cells were pretreated with various grain methanolic extracts ($25{\mu}g/mL$). Skin toxicity was simulated by exposing the cells to UVB ($30mJ/cm^2$) irradiation. In response to the UVB-irradiation, an increased amount of matrix metallo-proteinases (MMPs) release was observed, whereas pretreatment of various grain methanolic extracts significantly inhibited the production of MMP-1 in Hs68 cells. We also found that pretreatment of the extracts significantly decreased UVB-induced reactive oxygen species and significantly increased total collagen content in Hs68 cells. These results provide that grains could be regarded as a potential ingredient in natural cosmetics, used for UVB protection.

Evaluation of the Coefficient of Thermal Expansion of Constituents in Composite Materials using an Inverse Analysis Scheme (역해석기법을 이용한 복합재료 구성성분의 열팽창계수 예측)

  • In this paper, we propose an evaluation scheme of the coefficients of thermal expansion (CTE) of constituents in composite materials using an inverse analysis. The size of constituents typically is about a few micrometers, which makes the identification of material properties difficult as well as the measurement results inaccurate. The proposed inverse analysis scheme, which is combined with the Mori-Tanaka method for predicting an equivalent CTE of composite materials, provides the CTE of the constituents in a straightforward manner by minimizing the cost function defined in lamina scale with the steepest descent method. To demonstrate the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed scheme, the CTEs of several fibers (glass fiber, P75, P100, and M55J) embedded in matrix are evaluated and compared with experimental results. Furthermore, we discuss the effects of uncertainty of laminar and matrix properties on the prediction of fiber properties.

Physical Properties of the Melt Spun Fibers of the High Density Polyethylene and Polypropylen Blends (용융방사한 고밀도 폴리에틸렌 폴리프로필렌 블렌드 섬유의 물리적 성질)

  • 고밀도 폴리에틸렌과 폴리프로필렌을 용융혼합하여 블렌드를 만들었다. 압출물의 morphology 와 유변학적 성질을 측정하고 그 용융하고 섬유의 X-선 회절, 인장 성질, 복굴 절률등과 관련하여 고찰하였다. 파단면의 SEM 사진으로부터 폴리에티렌 성분비가 25%, 50% 에서는 폴리프로필렌이, 75%에서는 폴리에틸렌이 연속상을 이루며 분산상은 고르게 분포함을 알았다 점도와 용융탄성은 모두 폴리에틸렌이 폴리프로필렌보다 크며 블렌드에서 는 그중간에 위치 하였다. 폴리에틸렌의 함량의 증가에 따라 압풀물의 제 1법선 응력차는 증가하였고따라서 방사 섬유의 복굴절률도 증가하였으며 초기 탄성률도 증가하는 경향을 보 였으나 결정 배향도는 조성 의존성을 갖지 않는다. 두 고분자의 비상용성으로 인해 강도는 짓선성에서 벗어나는 거동을 나타내었다.

  • This study analyzed fire resistance characteristics of high strength concrete followd by changes of mixing rate in organic fibers of PP, NY and CL. PP+NY+CL=0.02+0.01+0.02 was better than the mixing of other fibers in fire resistance characteristics.

  • Sodium octylbenzenesulfonate(SOBS)와 sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate(SDBS)를 폴리프로필렌(PP) 용융액에 각각 균일하게 서로 다른 함량으로 섞어 넣은 후에 용융압착법 으로 PP 필름을 제조하였다. 저장 점성도(η') 저장탄성률(G') 및 손실 탄성률(G")을 진 동식 레오미터를 사용하여 170~195$^{\circ}C$에서 측정하였다. 실험온도 범위내에서 첨가제를 함유 한 PP와 순PPrks에 Cole-Cole 플롯(G'에 대한 G"의 log-log 플롯)에는 차이가 없었다. 그러나 광범위한 전단속도에서 SOBS의 첨가량이 8%를 넘어서면서 η'과 G'은 증가하였 다. 이러한 현상은 PP 중에서의 첨가제의 응집효과로 설명되었으며 이것은 SOBS와 SDBS 를 함유하는 PP 필름의 시차 주사열량법 및 주사전자 현미경 관찰결과로 확인되었다. SDBS를 8% 미만 함유하는 PP로부터 섬유의 용융방사가 가능하였으나 SDBS3% 이상 함 유PP 방사섬유는 연신 과정중에 섬유의 절단이 이따금 일어났다. PP 기질내에 있어서의 SDBS의 뜨거운 물에대한 견뢰성을 SDBS와 C. I. Basic blue 41사이의 이온결합 형성 거동 에 바탕을 두어 가시분광법에 의하여 검토하였다.
