Monitoring of the Underground Pollutant Infiltration Loads in Greenhouse and Conventional Farming Practices (시설 및 관행재배 지역의 지하침투 오염부하 모니터링)

  • 강우가 발생하거나 관개를 함에 따라 농경지의 토양침식물, 잔류 비료나 농약 등의 비점오염원은 지표 및 지하 유출과 함께 거동함으로써 지표수 뿐 아니라 지하수 수질에도 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 특히, 최근 고부가가치 농산물 수요의 증가로 전국적으로 시설재배 농업이 확대되고 있으나 시설재배 내에서의 비점오염원 유출특성에 관한 연구는 미흡하다. 따라서 시설재배 농업과 관행농업의 비점오염원의 거동 및 지하침투 오염부하를 비교 평가하고 비점오염원을 저감하기 위한 적절한 방안 마련이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 시설 및 관행재배 지역의 지하침투 오염부하량을 평가하기 위하여 주변 영향이 배제되어 시설재배와 관행재배의 비교 평가 가능한 포장 및 광역 단위 시험포장을 선정하고 모니터링 시스템을 구축하였다. 먼저 필지 단위와 광역 단위 단위에서의 모니터링 시스템을 설계하고, 수문 및 수질 분석 항목을 설정하였다. 이를 바탕으로 관행재배지에서의 물수지 모니터링을 위하여 기상 및 강우량, 지하수위, 토양수분, 관개 및 배수량을 측정하기 위한 장비를 설치하고, 토양수 및 지하수의 물질 수지 분석을 분석하기 위한 토양수, 지하수, 논담수 등의 수질 샘플망을 구축하였다. 또한 시설재배지에서의 물수지 모니터링을 위하여 기상, 지하수위, 토양수분 및 관개량을 측정하기 위한 장비를 설치하고, 토양수 및 지하수의 물질 수지 분석을 분석하기 위한 토양수, 지하수, 관개용수 등의 수질 샘플망을 구축하였다. 향후 본 시험 포장에 대한 지속적인 모니터링과 샘플링 실시하여 다양한 항목에 대한 조사 및 분석이 이루어진 다면 시설재배지 비점오염원 모니터링 및 정량화 기술개발을 통해 시설재배지에서의 비점오염에 대한 정량적 자료구축이 가능할 것으로 판단되며, 기초적인 자료를 제공함으로써 국내 농업비점오염총량 추정 기술에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

MTF Measuring Equipment of Optical System for LCD Substrate Inspection (LCD 기판 검사 광학계의 MTF 측정장치 제작)

  • We developed the equipment to measure the MTF(modulation transfer function) of an optical system for automatically inspecting the surface condition of an LCD substrate. We have made an object generator with USAF(United States Air Force) targets of three bar patterns and an integrating sphere, and an image analyzer with a 2 dimensional CCD(charge coupled device) and a relay lens. The MTF of the lens under test was obtained by correcting the measured CTF(contrast transfer function) which is the ratio of the contrast in the image of the USAF target to the contrast in the object. We have measured an optical system of F/13.65 (2.6x), the MTF are 30.6 % tangential plane and 26.1 % sagittal plane at 62.5 1p/mm.

Test Method Using Shield-cup for Evaluating Response Characteristics of Fire Detectors (화재감지기의 응답특성 평가를 위한 Shield-cup이 적용된 시험방법)

  • It is necessary to predict the activation time of fire detectors accurately to improve the reliability for evaluating the required safe egress time (RSET) in performance-based fire safety design. In this study, problems of the plunge test, which is widely applied in assessing fire detectors, were examined through experiments and numerical simulations. In addition, a new shield-cup test method was proposed to address these problems. A fire detector evaluator (FDE) developed in a previous study was applied to ensure measurement accuracy and reproducibility. During the plunge tests, a significant measurement error was observed in the activation time of the smoke detector because of the rapid flow change when the detector was input. However, during the shield-cup tests, slight changes occurred in the flow inside the FDE when the detector as exposed to smoke. In conclusion, the proposed shield-cup test method is expected to be useful for evaluating the response characteristics of fire detectors more accurately in simulated fire environments.

Severity Factors Affecting Tire Wear (타이어 마모에 영향을 미치는 가혹도 인자)

  • Tire wear is one of the factors that most drivers have concerned and is closely related to the tire life. It is very difficult to predict tire wear because the factors affecting tire wear seem to be very comlicated. Tire wear test should be performed at real conditions for the evaluation of tire wear. In this study, we analyze tire wear according to the severities of test courses by using the dedicated test method, more severe than real driving conditions. In order to simplify the factors affecting tire wear, we define roads’ driving severities to be driving severity numbers, DSNs which are obtained by measuring the lateral accelerations of test courses. And we compared tire wear rates and profiles with DSNs. These test results can provide the tire design guide to meet tire wear performance.

  • With increasing interest in living in hanoks, there's a growing need for more quantitative data on the thermal comfort performance of modern hanoks. With that in mind, this research project studied a modern hanok located in Jamjeong-Haetsal Village in Hwasun, Jeollanam Province as a case study to evaluate the Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) of modernized hanoks. Based on environmental data collected at the hanok and computer simulation both Life-Cycle PMV (L.C.PMV) and Normal PMV (N.PMV) were calculated for the hanok. Study results showed that during the summer and winter seasons the PMV and heat index at major heat and major cold weather points significantly deviated from the comfort zone. The rate of change in PMV was also greater in the winter than in the summer. The study found that the modern hanok lacks proper thermal insulation for maintaining thermal comfort.

2D Numerical Simulations for Shallow-water Flows in the Channel with a Side Weir (측면 위어가 있는 수로의 천수 흐름에 대한 2차원 수치모의)

  • 홍수 저감, 생태계 복원, 위락 등 다양한 목적의 충족을 위해 강변에 저류지, 즉 다목적 유수지(detention basin)를 조성하는 사례가 나타나고 있다. 하천에서 홍수의 발생으로 수위가 어떤 기준보다 높아지면, 흐름의 일부를 돌려 저류지로 보냄으로써 본류의 부담을 덜 수 있다. 이때, 흐름의 분기를 위해 설치되는 하천구조물 중 하나가 측면 위어(side weir) 또는 횡월류 위어(side discharge/overflow weir)이다. 하천의 계획과 설계에서 위어가 적용될 때, 위어에 대한 수위-유량 관계, 즉 그 형식과 제원에 적합한 유량계수(discharge coefficient)의 결정이 관건이 된다. 일반적인 위어와 달리 흐름 양상이 복잡한 측면 위어의 경우, 이론과 실제의 괴리가 아직까지 해소되지 않아 실물 또는 3차원 수치 모형을 이용한 시험으로 수위-유량 관계를 수립할 필요가 있다. 이렇게 결정된 수위-유량 관계는 1차원 또는 수심적분 2차원 모형의 내부 또는 외부 경계로 사용되며, 본류의 수위 증감에 따른 측면 위어의 횡월류량을 통해 저류지의 홍수 조절 능력을 평가할 수 있다. 이 연구에서는, 측면 위어의 수위-유량 관계가 알려지지 않더라도, 저류지에 의한 홍수 조절 효과를 평가할 수 있는 2차원 수치모의에 대해 검토하였다. 수치해법으로서 2차원 천수방정식에 대해 유한체적법을 적용하고, 흐름률(flux)의 정확한 계산을 위해 근사 Riemann 해법을 도입하였다. 먼저, 측면 위어가 없는 실험 조건에 대해 수로 내 한 측선에서 측정된 수위와 유량을 모의 결과와 비교하여 모형을 검증하였다. 이때, 경계조건으로 상류 끝에 측정 유량을, 하류 끝에 측정 수위를 부여하였으며, Manning의 조도계수를 0.014로 설정하였다. 또한, 측면 위어가 설치된 수로에 대해 계산 영역을 340개의 삼각형 격자로 분할하고 측면 위어가 없는 경우와 동일한 조건을 두어 모의하였다. 측면 위어의 하류에 위치한 측선에서 측정치에 대한 평균 제곱근(root mean square) 오차가 수위에 대해 1.9 mm, 유량에 대해 $2.2{\ell}/s$로서 그림과 같이 모의 결과는 실험의 그것과 잘 일치하였다. 이로써, 측면 위어에 대한 수위-유량 관계의 수립을 위한 실물 모형 시험 없이 수심적분 2차원 수치모의를 통해 저류지의 홍수 조절 효과를 평가할 수 있음이 확인되었다.

  • Due to rapidly increasing air traffic congestion and airspace restrictions, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is urging all aircraft to use SBAS by 2025, in order to implement Performance-based navigation to increase airspace capacity. In line with this, research and development of Korean-style SBAS, which reflects the characteristics of Korea's airspace environment, continues in Korea. Since there is no flight inspection procedure for performance testing and verification of SBAS in Korea yet, this paper analyzes FAA, ICAO Regulations, and laws enacted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to derive essential evaluations and parameters of Korean SBAS, and presents the optimal design using RTK-DGPS as a position fixing system.

A study on nonlinear crash analysis of railway tankcar according to the overseas crashworthiness regulations (해외 충돌안전규정에 따른 유류탱크화차의 비선형충돌해석 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the structural risk and weakness of a railway tank car through nonlinear collision analysis according to overseas collision safety standards. The goal is to propose a crash safety design guideline for railway tank cars for transporting dangerous goods in Korea. We analyzed the buffer impact test procedure of railway freight cars prescribed in EN 12663-2 and the tank puncture test criteria prescribed in 49CFR179. A nonlinear finite element model according to each standard was modeled using LS-DYNA, a commercial finite element analysis solver. As a result of the buffing impact test simulation, it was predicted that plastic deformation would not occur at a collision speed of 6 km/h or less. However, plastic deformation was detected at the rear of the center sill and at the tank center supporting the structure at a collision speed of 8 km/h or more. As a result of a head-on test simulation of tank puncture, the outer tank shell was destroyed at the corner of the tank head when 4% of the kinetic energy of the impacter was absorbed. The tank shell was destroyed in the area of contact with the impacter in the test mode analysis of tank shell puncture when the kinetic energy of the moving vehicle was reduced by 30%. Therefore, the simulation results of the puncture test show that fracture at the tank shell and leakage of the internal material is expected. Consequently, protection and structural design reinforcement are required on railway tank cars in Korea.

Localization Development of Axial Fan for KM-SAM Multi-function radar (KM-SAM 다기능레이더용 축류형 송풍기 국산화 개발)

  • This paper describes the localization development of an axial fan for KM-SAM multi-function radar. The multi-function radar, which is constantly affected by the external environment, is a key instrument for detecting and tracking low and medium altitude threat targets. Operating this equipment smoothly requires a fan for controlling the internal temperature and humidity. Presently, all such fans are imported. To solve these problems, localization development research was proposed. The development of localization includes analysis of requirements through review of related technical reports such as original equipment and system equipment specification, prototype design, and verification of design requirement through performance test and environmental test. The study results are described. The blower consisted of an axial fan with guide vanes and the motor was designed to generate a maximum airflow of 970 CFM and a wind pressure of 4.8 IWG. Six prototypes were manufactured for performance evaluation. In addition, for reliable data acquisition, AC power supply, fan performance tester and data acquisition equipment were designed and tested. All prototypes were verified as having design requirements equal to or better than those of imports.

Initial Imperfection and Axial Strength of Struts with Octagonal Hollow Section fabricated from HR Plate (열연강판 팔각강관 버팀보의 초기편심과 축방향 압축강도)

  • Developed in this study were Octagonal-hollow-section(OHS) struts, whose compressive strengths against flexural and local buckling is higher than H-shape or rectangular-hollow-section(RHS) struts with the same unit weight. OHS members are also advantageous in handling and storing compared to circular hollow sections(CHS). OHS members were fabricated from HR Plates by cold forming and fillet welding. 5 numbers of 20m long OHS struts were assembled, each of which consist of two 9.6m long OHS member and two end connection elements made of cast iron. The compressive strength of the OHS strut was evaluated by comparing the test results, design codes and FEM analysis each other. Test results show that all of the struts have almost same or larger compressive strength than Korean Road Bridge Design Code(KRBDC) (2012). The initial imperfections can be estimated by using measured strains and are turned out to be less than L/450 for all the struts tested. The results of FEM analysis show that the variation of initial imperfection has less effects on the compressive strength for struts with vertical surcharge than for those with self-weight only, while the strength decreases as the initial imperfection increases. As the result of this study, the allowable initial imperfection for 20m long OHS struts is recommended to be less than L/350 on job sites.
