A Study on Angle of Heel in Turning using Ship Maneuverability lndices (선박 조종성 지수를 이용한 선회 중 횡경사에 관한 기초연구)

  • The ships are turning for the purpose of collision avoidence and change of course. It is possible that ships have capsizing accident when improper loading of cargo and excessive use rudder angle in turning. It is difficult for navigation officers to recognize the danger of heeling during a turn, because the dynamic state of the ship changes in real time. Thus, in this study, ship's heeling angle was predicted during turning using the maneuverability indices estimated from the ship's autopilot. The maneuverability indices estimated through the Kalman filter of Autopilot is real-time predictable. The turning radius was obtained from the estimated Index of turining ability and calculations of the heeling angle were possible in turning. It is intended to be used as a basic data on the prevention of danger heeling angle during turning.

  • Various turning tests were carried out according to the rudder angle, turning direction, and the speed etc. with the ship's maneuverability measuring system on the training ship HANBADA. After that they were compared with each other on the turning circle, maneuvering performance index and the distance of new course, and then found out that they were satisfied with the IMO maneuvering standards. And the turning circles of port were smaller than those of starboard with all the rudder angles and maneuvering indexes such as K and T were relatively bigger than other vessels. Also, the distance cf new course was measured to $125{\sim}300m$ in case of the new course on $30^{\circ}{\sim}90^{\circ}$. All of these results will be helpful to escape from collision and to alter course on coastal voyage.

간이 선박조종 시뮬레이터 개선에 관한 연구

  • 이 연구는 기 개발한 간이 선박조종 시뮬레이터의 조종성능 개선에 관한 것이다. 선박조종 시뮬레이터에서 모델선박의 조종성 지수는 임의로 정하는 것이 아니라 가능한 모델대상선박의 실제 움직임과 동등하거나 유사하게 설정되어야 한다. 선행연구에서는 이미 발표된 대학교 실습선(한바다호)의 선박조종 실선데이터를 기반으로 모델선박의 조종성 지수를 도출하였으나, 타각이 10°를 초과할 경우 네 종류의 실선시험 결과와 평균 17.9%의 상대오차가 발생하였다. 이에, 타각 10°, 20° 및 35°에서의 한바다호 조종성 지수에 대해 에르미트 보간을 이용하여 3차 다항식을 산출하고, 이를 모델선박에 적용하였다. 그 결과 타각 35° 이내의 전 구간에서 조종성능의 상대오차가 평균 13.7%에서 11.6%로 약 2.1% 개선됨을 확인하였다.

  • 선박의 조종성능은 풍조나 파랑등 외력에 의한 영향이나 그 선박의 홀수, 속력등 항행환경에 따라서 조종성능이 달라 질 뿐만 아니라 조타에 대한 선체의 응답운동이 달라지게 된다. 따라서, 조선자는 선박이 항행중 다른 선박이나 위험물에 접근 했을 때 안전하게 피항하기 위해서는 그 선박에 대한 선회성과 추종성 등 조타에 의한 조종 성능을 잘파악하고 있어야 하며, 이러한 조종 성능은 일반적으로 선회시 선회권에 의한 종거 및 횡거와 선회경의 크기로 결정되는 선회성과 조타에 의한 선체운동등 추종성을 나타내는 조종성 지수로써 그 선박에 대한 조종성능의 양부를 판별하게 되는 것이다.   • For the time being, HMA test specimen were prepared by Marshall Compaction Method for hot mix asphalt design and evaluated the mechanical properties of HMA at the specified air voids. Gyratory Compaction can simulate the field compaction process and measure the degree of compaction just after field compaction in laboratory. Superpave mix design with Gyratory compactor has been used for characterization of performance. The curve of gyratory compaction can be used to evaluate the permanent deformation potential of hot mix asphalt. In this paper, couple of indices for hot mix asphalt have been showed for hot mix asphalt in Korea. The major properties from gyratory compaction curve are compaction energy index and traffic compaction index. The specific guide line for the potential of hot mix asphalt has been proposed.

Study on Breakup Characteristics of Gel Propellant Using Pressure Swirl Injector (압력선회형 인젝터를 이용한 젤 추진제의 분열특성 연구)

  • In this study, cold-flow test of simulant gel is conducted using a pressure swirl injector to identify spray characteristics according to gellant weight percent. Experiment results show the aircore is developed locally at the nozzle and expanded to the entire swirl chamber as the supply pressure increases. The aircore formation of simulant gel showed no significant difference compared to Newtonian fluid. The spray pattern was classified into four distinct shapes where relationship between the breakup regimes and dimensionless numbers were investigated. In the future, additional study is necessary to understand the aircore formation mechanism, stability and spray characteristics at different configuration of the swirl chamber shape.

Crystal Chemistry and Paragenesis of Aluminum Sulfphates from Mudstones of the Yeonil Group (II): Alunite-halloysite (연일층군 이암에서 산출되는 알루미늄 황산염 광물의 결정화학 및 생성 (II): 알루나이트-할로이사이트)

  • 알루나이트는 포항지역의 제3기 연일층군의 이암 층내의 탄산염 결핵체 주변에서 할로이사이트와 함께 극미립 변질물 (1-2 $\mu\textrm{m}$)로서 산출된다. 알루나이트는 정육면체와 유사한 능면체 결정형을 이루고 침상 내지 단주상의 할로이사이트와 밀접한 공생관계를 이룬다. X-선회절 분석에 의해서 이 알루나이트는 a=6.9897(1) $\AA$, c=17.2327(4)$\AA$, V=728.75(3) $\AA$3의 격자상수값을 갖는 것으로 밝혀졌다. X-선형광된 이 알루나이트의 화학식은 (K0.94N0.06)(Al2.55Fe3+0.45)(SO4)2(OH)6 으로서, 나트로알루나이트 단성분을 6-7 mole%정도 함유하는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 시차열분석 (TG-DTG-DTA)을 통해서 알루나이트의 승화성 성분들 (H2O와 SO3)의 존재와 함유 정도를 조사하였고, 고온X-선회절분석을 병행하여 이 광물의 OH기의 이탈 반응 (52$0^{\circ}C$)과 고온상으로의 전이 반응 ($600^{\circ}C$$700^{\circ}C$)을 감정 하였다. K/Ar 법으로 측정된 알루나이트의 생성 연대 ($0.342\pm$0.008 Ma)와 안정동위원소들의 분석 결과 ($\delta$18Oso4=-1.7, $\delta$DSMOW=-31, $\delta$34S=-10.8)는 이 알루미늄 황산염 광물이 연일충군의 융기 이후에 야기된 민물의 유입에 의한 표성기원의 변질작용의 결과로 생성되었음을 지시한다. 알루나이트+할로이사이트 공생군의 침전은 이암 내에서 조성된 강산성 (pH=2-3)의 알루미늄 황산염 용액이 탄산염 결핵체를 만나 반응하여 pH가 국지적으로 증가되어 (pH=4) 과포화되는 과정에 의해서 야기되었다. 컴퓨터를 이용한 Al3+의 포화지수에 관한 화학적 평형 모델링 실험 결과, 알루미늄 황산염 용액으로부터의 알루나이트와 할로이사이트의 침전은 pH=4 및 \ulcornerSO42-=10-4M 조건에서 K+과 Si(OH)4의 농도가 10-4M 이상 유지되어야 가능한 것으로 밝혀졌다.

Development and Validation of FE Adult Headform Impactor for Pedestrian Protection (성인 머리모형 임팩터의 FE 모델 개발)

  • Head injury is one of the most common cause of deaths in car-to-pedestrian collisions. To reduce the severity of such injuries, many international safety committees have performed headform impact test for pedestrian protection. In this paper, an adult headform impactor model is developed based on the finite element (FE) method and validated through the numerical simulation. The skin material of headform impactor is known as polyvinyl chloride skin (PVC) and its material was assumed as viscoelastic. The viscoelastic parameters of headform skin are identified by a series of trial and error methods. The new developed FE adult headform impactor is verified by the drop test and FE JARI adult headform impactor provided by Madymo program.

Characterization of Microtextures formed by Chemical Weathering in Crystalline Rocks and Implications for Rock Mechanics (화학적 풍화에 의한 결정질 암석내의 미세조직 발달특징과 암반공학적 의미)

  • Weathering can reduce rock strength and eventually affect the structural stability of a rock mass, which is important in the field of engineering geology. Several methods have been developed to evaluate the degree of weathering, including the chemical weathering index. In this study, we analyzed the weathering degree and characteristics of microtextures and pores in crystalline rocks (gneiss and granites) based on petrographic observations, the chemical weathering index, mineralogy by XRD, microtextural analysis by SEM/EDS, measurements of pore size and surface area by the BET method, and microporosity by X-ray CT. The formation of secondary minerals and microtexture in gneiss and granitic rocks are assumed to be affected by complex processes such as dissolution, precipitation, and fracturing. Hence, it is clear that some chemical weathering indices that are based solely on whole-rock chemistry (e.g., CIA and CWI) are unable to provide reliable assessments of the degree of weathering. Great care is needed to evaluate the degree of chemical weathering, including an understanding of the mineralogy and microtexture of the rock mass, as well as the characteristics of micropores.

Evaluation of Dynamic Modulus based on Aged Asphalt Binder (아스팔트 바인더의 노화특성을 고려한 동탄성계수 평가)

  • Development of a new design guide which is based on empirical-mechanistic concept for pavement design is in action. It is called AASHTO 2002 Design Guide in USA and the KPRP(Korean Pavement Research Project) in Korea. The material characteristic of hot mix asphalt is a key role in the design guide. Therefore it is urgent to get a proper materials database, especially the dynamic modulus of hot mix asphalt. In this research, dynamic modulus test, which is based on aged asphalt binder, has been carried out and proposed the predicted equation of dynamic modulus. Nine different hot mix asphalt with three different asphalt binder have been used for the dynamic modulus test. Short-term aging, which is covers the time for the production of asphalt plant, transportation, lay-down, and compaction, can be simulated at $135^{\circ}C$ with 2 hour curing. Long-term aging has been carried out for a performance period of asphalt pavement. The dynamic modulus of asphalt pavement increases with aging time. As the nominal aggregate size increases, the change of dynamic modulus is not big.
