Implementation of Multichannel LAPS and Measurement System for Detection of the pH Variation Using an Implemented Device. (다채널 LAPS 제작 및 이를 이용한 pH 변화량 검출 시스템 구현)

  • LAPS is a device which is dependent on the bias potential between a pH sensitivity and alternating photocurrent. We implemented the multichannel LAPS device and the detection system which was able to effectively measure the sensor's output by a synchronized detection circuit and multiple methods. The implemented LAPS was structured the multiple sensing sites for analyzing a various components simultaneously. And the system included a time-division method using one pre-amplifier being able to detect the multichannel pH concentration preserving a high S/N ratio and a control part. System hardware consists of a pre-amplifier, digital unit and sensor unit, and software consists of a system program and PC program. As results, we verified the successful operations of system including an implemented pre-amplifier and signal processing units.

Reflection and Transmission Coefficients by a Surface-Mounted Horizontal Porous Plate (수면 위에 놓인 수평 유공판에 의한 반사율과 투과율)

  • The interaction of oblique incident waves with a surface-mounted horizontal porous plate is investigated using matched eigenfunction expansion method under the assumption of linear potential theory. The new boundary condition on the porous plate suggested by Zhao et al.(2010) when it is situated at the still water surface is used. The imaginary part of the first propagating-mode eigenvalue in the fluid region under a horizontal porous plate, is closely related to the energy dissipation across the porous plate. By changing the porosity, plate width, wave frequencies, and incidence angles, the reflection and transmission coefficients as well as the wave loads on the porous plate are obtained. It is found that the transmission coefficients can be significantly reduced by selecting optimal porous parameter b = 5.0, also increasing the plate width and incidence angle.

Characteristics of Soil Parameter for Lade's Single Work-Hardening Constitutive Model with Relative Density of Bottom ash (석탄회의 상대밀도에 따른 Lade 단일항복면 구성모델의 토질매개변수 특성)

  • This study was performed a series of the isotropic compression-expansion tests and the drained triaxial tests with various the relative densities 40%, 60%, 80% and 95% for bottom ash. Using the tests results the characteristic of the parameters of Lade's single hardening constitutive model were investigated. The soil parameters Kur and n representing elastic behavior are not much affected by the change of the relative density. The other parameters such as failure criterion(m, ${\eta}_1$), hardening function(c, p) and plastic potential(${\psi}_2$, ${\mu}$) are in a positive linear relationship with the relative density. Since the soil parameters h and ${\alpha}$ representing yield function do not change much to the change of relative density and also closely related to failure criterion, they can be replaced by failure criterion ${\eta}_1$. We also observed that predicted values from the Lade's single hardening constitutive model were well consistent with the observed data.

Performance Analysis of Wave Energy Converter Using a Submerged Pendulum Plate (몰수형 진자판을 이용한 파력발전장치의 성능해석)

  • The parametric study was performed for performance enhancement of wave energy converter(WEC) using a submerged pendulum plate. The wave exciting moment and hydrodynamic moment were obtained by means of eigenfunction expansion method based on the linear potential theory, and then the roll response of a pendulum plate and time averaged extracted power were investigated. The optimal PTO damping coefficient was suggested to give optimal extracted power. The peak value of optimal extracted power occurs at the resonant frequency. The resonant peak and it's width increase, as the height and thickness of a pendulum plate increase. The mooring line installed at the end of the pendulum plate is effective for extracting wave energy because it can not only induce the resonance with the waves of the installation site but also increase the restoring moment in case of PTO-on. The WEC using a rolling pendulum plate suitable for the shallow water acts as breakwater as well as energy extraction device.

Wave Control by a Surface-Mounted Horizontal Membrane (수면 위에 고정된 수평막에 의한 파랑제어)

  • The performance of wave control by a surface-mounted horizontal membrane is analyzed in the frame of linear potential theory. To employ the eigenfunction expansion method, the fluid domain is divided into two regions i.e. region without membrane and membrane-covered region. By matching the each solutions at boundaries of adjacent regions, the complete solution is obtained. The present analytical method solving the scattering problem directly gives the same results as Cho and Kim(1998)'s method solving the diffraction and the radiation problem separately. To verify the developed model, the model test with a surface-mounted horizontal membrane is conducted at the wave tank(36m${\times}$0.91m${\times}$l.22m). The analytic results are in good agreement with the experimental results. The reflection and transmission coefficients are investigated according to the change of membrane tension, length and incident frequencies.

  • In this study, steady/unsteady aerodynamic characteristic for three dimensional symmetric wing was investigated numerically using Vortex Panel Method. This program utilized linearly varying vortices in x and y directions distributed on the wing surface and was applied to the incompressible potential. flow around a three dimensional wing Separation and deformation of the wake are not considered. The comparison between NACA Airfoil Data and the computed results showed excellent agreement. πus method was applied to unsteady wings undergoing both sudden pitch-up and constant rate pitching motion. In the unsteady flow analysis, a formation and a time-dependent locations of Starting Vortices are considered and the effect of Starting Vortices on aerodynamic characteristic of the wing was calculated. The present method can be extended to apply for more complicated cases such as pitching, flapping and rotating wing analysis.

  • A surface panel method for the analysis of ducted propellers in both uniform and non-uniform onset inflow is developed. A low order, perturbation potential based panel method with an efficient numerical Kutta condition is used. The boundary surface is discretized with hyperboloidal panels and the boundary condition is applied at the panel centroids. The unsteady analysis is based on a time-step algorithm in time domain. Numerical implementation is employed into both steady and unsteady problems. The results with the resent method are shown to have good convergence on the circumferential distribution of circulation on the duct. The effect of the propeller tip clearance on the circumferential circulation on the duct is also presented Numerical results on forces and moments of the propeller and the duct are compared with other numerical results and experimental data.

Elasto-Plastic Anisotropic-Damage Model for Concrete (콘크리트의 탄-소성 이방성-손상 모델)

  • The initiation and growth of microcracks or microvoids inside concrete results in the progressive degradation of concrete. This damage processing along processing along with plastic deformation is main cause of nonlinear behavior of concrete. In this study, a continuum damage model of concrete is developed for the analysis of the nonlinear behavior of concrete due to damage and elasto-plastic deformation. Anisotropic damage tensor is used to describe the anisotropy of concrete and hypothesis of equivalent elastic energy is used to define the effective elastic tensor. The damage model including the damage evolution law and constitutive equation is derived with damage variable and damage surface which is defined by damage energy release rate by using the Helmholtz free energy and dissipation potential based on the thermodynamic principles. By adopting a typical plasticity model of concrete, plasticity of concrete is included to this model. Afinite element analysis program implemented with this model was developed and finite element analysis was performed for the analyses of concrete subjected to uniaxial and biaxial loadings. Comparison of the results of analysis with those of experiments and other models shows that the model successfully predicts the nonlinear behavior of concrete.

  • Recently, various types of perforated breakwaters are being constructed for protecting offshore storm waves. In general, perforated breakwaters have wave chambers with perforated walls at seaside. Purposes of the wave chambers are to reduce wave reflections and maximum wave forces acting on the breakwater. Impact wave forces due to wave breaking can attack to the perforated wall directly, so the effects have to be considered in the design of the perforated wall carefully. Using resonance channels for wave energy dissipation, a new concept perforated breakwater is proposed, which is free from impact loads. Numerical simulation was made for wave reflection characteristics of the breakwater with respect to major design parameters. Numerical analysis was carried out using the Galerkin's FE model based on the linear potential theory considering energy dissipation on the perforated plate. Variations of wave reflection was investigated according to perforated ratios of perforated plate.

Using the tests results the characteristic of the parameters of Lade's single hardening constitutive model were investigated. The soil parameters such as kur and n related to elastic behavior, m and ${\eta}_1$ related to failure criterion, c and p related to hardening function and ${\psi}_2$ and ${\mu}$ related to plastic potential show in a positive linear relationship with the dry density.
