Nonlinear fiber optic CDMA coder and decoder (비선형 간섭계를 이용한 광 코드 분할 다중 접속 부호기와 복호기)

  • We propose a modified nonlinear fiber optic interferometer which can serve to generate binary optical pulse sequences for CDMA networks, and to decode them. In one arm cross-phase modulation between a CW signal and a counter- or copropagating high-power pulse takes place in sequences of segment connected via VDM couplers. Preliminary experimental results on code generation as well as autocorrelation and crosscorrelation are presented, using Sagnac interferometer. As we expected, the experimental results show that the outputs of the interferometer device are not summed simply on the basis of power, but the sin-squared version of it. Arbitrary codes can in principle be implemented.

  • A Multilinear LDA Method of Tensor Representation for ECG Signal Based Individual Identification Electrocardiogram signals, included in the cardiac electrical activity, are often analyzed and used for various purposes such as heart rate measurement, heartbeat rhythm test, heart abnormality diagnosis, emotion recognition and biometrics. The objective of this paper is to perform individual identification operation based on Multilinear Linear Discriminant Analysis (MLDA) with the tensor feature. The MLDA can solve dimensional aspects of classification problems in high-dimensional tensor, and correlated subspaces can be used to distinguish between different classes. In order to evaluate the performance, we used MPhysionet's MIT-BIH database. The experimental results on this database showed that the individual identification by MLDA outperformed that by PCA and LDA.

  • 본 연구에서는 심해 선형파 조건에서 수중 투과성 방파제 주변의 유속장에 대해 nonhomogeneous Riemann-Hilbert problem을 이용한 해석해 및 수치해를 도출하고, 이를 반사계수와 투과계수를 산정하는 데에 활용한다. 여러 개의 얇은 투과성 판이 일렬로 배열되어 수중에 고정되어있고 규칙파가 작용하는 경우, Riemann-Hilbert problem을 정의할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 얇은 판으로 이루어진 수중 방파제에 대한 homogeneous Riemann-Hilbert problem을 푸는 것을 넘어, 투과성 판으로 이루어진 수중 방파제에 대해 nonhomogeneous Riemann-Hilbert problem을 정의하고, 이에 대해 무한경계조건과 판 근처에서의 유속장 경계조건을 이용해 해석해를 유도하였다. 투과성 방파제의 경우 permeable boundary를 가지므로 제시한 상황은 기하학적 비선형성을 지닌다. 이에 대해 투수성을 기초로 미소 매개변수를 정의하고, 섭동법(perturbation method)을 이용해 유속장에 대한 leading order solution과 first order solution을 도출하였다. Leading order solution은 Evans (1970) 등의 선행연구에서 제시한 해와의 비교를 통해 그 타당성을 검증하였고, First order solution을 이용해 반사계수와 투과계수를 산정하여 방파제의 투수성이 유속장에 미치는 영향을 고려하였다. 아울러 수치해를 도출하여 해석해의 결과와 비교 및 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 해석해는 방파제에 가해지는 힘을 산정하는 등 다양한 방향으로 활용 가능하며, 향후 수치해나 실험값을 비교, 검증하기 위한 기초 자료로써 활용될 수 있다.

Development of Computational Orthogonal Array based Fatigue Life Prediction Model for Shape Optimization of Turbine Blade (터빈 블레이드 형상 최적설계를 위한 전산 직교배열 기반 피로수명 예측 모델 개발)

  • A complex system involves a large number of design variables, and its operation is non-linear. To explore the characteristics in its design space, a Kriging meta-model can be utilized; this model has replaced expensive computational analysis that was performed in traditional parametric design optimization. In this study, a Kriging meta-model with a computational orthogonal array for the design of experiments was developed to optimize the fatigue life of a turbine blade whose behavior under cyclic rotational loads is significantly non-linear. The results not only show that the maximum fatigue life is improved but also indicate that the accuracy of computational analysis is achieved. In addition, the robustness of the results obtained by six-sigma optimization can be verified by comparison with the results obtained by performing Monte Carlo simulations.

A 20-way Stripline Power Divider for an S band Linear Array Antenna with Low Loss and Low Side Lobe Level (S 대역 선형 배열 안테나 급전회로를 위한 저손실, 저부엽 20-출력 스트립라인 전력분배기)

  • In this paper, a high-power 20-way stripline power divider with low insertion loss and low side lobe level is successfully designed, fabricated and measured as a feed network for an S-band linear array antenna having Dolph-Chebyshev current distribution which has a narrow beam width and very low side lobe level (SLL). The 20-way stripline power divider consists of an 8-way power divider, three 4-way power dividers and three ring hybrids. It utilizes a T-junction structure as a basic element for power dividing. Notches and modified input/output N-to-stripline transitions are used for improving insertion loss and return loss. The fabricated power divider shows insertion loss less than 0.3 ㏈ and rms phase mismatch less than 8o in the full bandwidth. A final 40-way power divider is synthesized by combining symmetrically two 20-way power dividers and is expected to have SLL over 40 dB, based on the measured results of the 20-way power divider.

  • The performance of a monopulse estimator is depend on its monopulse ratio(MR) curve. To improve its performance, a mathematical expression of the MR curve that is associated with an array the parameters is needed. In this paper, we present a novel monopulse estimator that uses the inverse function of a MR curve for the Maximum Likelihood (ML)-based monopulse estimator. It is shown that the proposed method can extend the linear region of the MR curve, which in turn improve the estimation accuracy. Moreover, it's performance is compared with the ML-based method through simulation.

  • Griffiths and Jim has proposed a beamforming structure called GSC algorithm, in which antenna elements are grouped into main-channel and sub-channel, and sidelobe is reduced by applying adaptive LMS algorithm. This paper proposes WLMS-GSC algorithm where the Haar and Daubechies wavelet filters are used to process array antenna output, instead of using subtractor filter. We analyze characteristics of the proposed WLMS-GSC algorithm. The WLMS-GSC has characteristic of reducing the computational requirement one-half compared to the LMS-GSC algorithm. In addition, we obtain MSE characteristics and adaptive beampattern of WLMS-GSC algorithm, and compared with the performance of LMS-GSC algorithm. The simulation results show that the WLMS-GSC algorithm proposed in this paper gives better or almost the same performance, compared to the LMS-GSC algorithm. In addition, the newly proposed structure has advantage of low computational requirements.

A Stripline 10-Way Power Divider for the Feed Network of an S-band Linear Array Antenna (S-대역 선형 배열 안테나의 급전 회로를 위한 스트립라인 10-출력 전력분배기)

  • In this paper, a high-power and low-loss stripline 10-way power divider is designed and fabricated fur the feed network of an S-band linear array antenna with Chebyshev current distribution which has a narrow beam width and low side lobe level(SLL) of 35 dB or more. The unit cell of the power divider is based on a T-junction power divider and the whole divider is comprised of the cascaded unit cells. The multi-stage impedance transformer and modified ring hybrid are used in designing the power divider for performance improvement. And the reflection loss and insertion loss are improved by modifying a connector structure for a coaxial-to-stripline transition.

Hidden Object Detection System using Parametric Array (파라메트릭 배열을 이용한 은폐 물체 탐지 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose hidden object detection system using parametric array based on acoustic signal that is harmless to human body. A transmit signal of the proposed detection system uses a high directive chirp signal generated from parametric array phenomenon, which uses technique to improve a signal to noise (SNR) of a received signal and a distance resolution trough the dechirp processing. The transmit sensor array is constructed as $8{\times}2$ and has a horizontal beam width of $7^{\circ}$ and vertical beam width of $26^{\circ}$. To verify the detection and visualization of the proposed system, a 2-axis driving control system based on linear stage was constructed, and A-scan, B-scan, and C-scan experiments was addressed for hidden object. From experimental results, we detected and visualized the hidden bronze plate and pipe by cloth and the visualized shapes was confirmed. Especially, the obtained errors was $0.015m^2$ for bronze plate, and $0.046m^2$ for pipe.

Determination of the Optimized Structure of Self-Organizing Map for the Rainfall-Runoff Analysis in Naju (나주지점의 강우-유출 해석을 위한 최적의 SOM 구조 결정)

  • Studies on modeling the rainfall-runoff relationship which shows nonlinear trend strongly use artificial neural networks theory not only for the prediction but also for the characteristics analysis of the data used by pattern classification. For the pattern classification, the results from Self-Organizing Map (SOM) mention that the map size and array for the SOM training have significantly influenced on the SOM performance. Since there is no deterministic method or theoretical equation to determine the number of rows and columns for the map size, hexagonal array is generally used for the map array. Therefore, this study present a determination of the optimized map structure for the rainfall-runoff analysis in Naju station considering the map size and array simultaneously which can represent the classified characterization of rainfall-runoff relationship. The result showed that the map size of 20$\times$16 hexagonal array with 8-clustered patterns was selected as an appropriate map structure for rainfall-runoff analysis in Naju station.
