Defect Detection and Defect Classification System for Ship Engine using Multi-Channel Vibration Sensor (다채널 진동 센서를 이용한 선박 엔진의 진동 감지 및 고장 분류 시스템)

  • There has been some research in the equipment defect detection based on vibration information. Most research of them is based on vibration monitoring to determine the equipment defect or not. In this paper, we introduce more accurate system for engine defect detection based on vibration information and we focus on detection of engine defect for boat and system control. First, it uses the duplicated-checking method for vibration information to determine the engine defect or not. If there is a defect happened, we use the method using error part of vibration information basis with error range to determine which kind of error is happened. On the other hand, we use the engine trend analysis and standard of safety engine to implement the vibration information database. Our simulation results show that the probability of engine defect determination is 100% and the probability of engine defect classification and detection is 96%.

  • The increasing international awareness regarding air pollutant reduction has resulted in increasing demand for eco-friendly ships; hence, electric ships are being actively developed by various countries. Presently, studies on electric ships are mainly focused on electric propulsion systems and electric motors. However, from the ship perspective, there are no studies on conceptual designs for coastal car ferries powered by removable power supply systems. In the present study, the main research consideration is regarding the conceptual design of a fully electrified car ferry using a battery-based removable system as the main power source. By analyzing the dimensions of more than 100 domestic coastal car ferries, the main criteria satisfying the requirements for developing a suitable vessel were derived, and a study on intact/damage stability was conducted considering the application of a removable battery truck. Further analyses of the problems concerning the conceptual design were also performed to derive solutions.

  • Modern marine navigation requires officers on the bridge to monitor a torrent of data on both the insides and outsides of the ship from numerous useful devices. But despite these tools, navigators can still find it difficult to make a safe decision for two reasons: one is that too much data if provided too quickly tends to cause fatigue and overwhelm the officer, and the other is that any inconsistency across data from several different types of devices can lead to confusion. Indeed, the fact remains that the many marine accidents can be attributed to human error, and hence there is a strong need for decision-support tools for marine navigation. One technique of providing decision support is through the use of simulation to evaluate or predict system dynamics over time using an accurate model. This paper, as a simulation method for risk prediction for a navigation safety information system of ship, suggests a navigation prediction simulation system using various knowledge bases and discrete event simulation methodology, and supports the validity of the system through the examples of components in a restricted navigation situation scenario.

  • With the rapid increase in the construction of smart ships and the growing proportion of IT equipment on vessels, the frequency and severity of maritime cyber incidents have significantly escalated. Recognizing this situation, the International Association of Classification Societies recently enacted the UR E26 regulation. This study investigates the definition of cyber resilience and reviews existing research, using the Analytic Hierarchy Process to determine the priority of factors across the ship lifecycle as presented in the E26 regulation. Additionally, the E26 regulation is compared and analyzed against Cybersecurity Framework and Cyber Resiliency System of the NIST. Through this analysis, the study aims to assist companies that are unfamiliar with maritime cybersecurity in effectively responding to the IACS UR E26 regulation and proposes recommendations for the improvement of the UR E26 regulation.

항로표지 배치 효율화를 위한 가시거리에 기반한 인지 지수 모델링

  • 본 연구에서는 항로표지(aids to navigation) 배치를 효율화하기 위한 정량적인 성능 지수(performance index)를 제시한다. 제안된 성능 지수는 항로표지에 대한 항해자(navigator)의 시각적 인식에 기반하였다. 인지 성능 지수는 시각적 인식의 구성요소로서 관찰자, 환경, 그리고 광원에 해당하는 선박 특성, 해상환경, 그리고 항로표지 특성을 반영하여 모델링되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 통하여 효과적으로 항로표지를 배치할 수 있는 수치적 지표를 획득할 수 있을 것으로 판단한다. 향후 항로배치에 대한 현실적 데이터를 바탕으로 제안된 모델링의 유효성을 검증할 계획이다.

  • According to growing the leisure boat market, safety-related and weather information have been required by different users with different electronic devices. NAVTEX messages transmitting worldwide from local stations are a kind of useful service, even for non mandatory carriage requirement vessel, such as small or fishing vessels. However, it is not easy for all users to recognize intuitively. This paper is to implement the NAVTEX message on tablet PC, indicating warning positions of message on Android-based google map.

  • We aim to propose the prediction modeling method of ship's position with extracting ship's trajectory model through pattern recognition based on the data that are being collected in VTS centers at real time. Support Vector Machine algorithm was used for data modeling. The optimal parameters are calculated with k-fold cross validation and grid search. We expect that the proposed modeling method could support VTS operators' decision making in case of complex encountering traffic situations.

선교 항해당직 경보시스템용 모션센서의 최적기능 확보에 관한 연구

  • 해상 물동량의 증가에 따라 선박들이 점차 대형화 되어 가고 있고 선박의 수 또한 지속적으로 늘어나고 있다. 이러한 현상은 곧 해양사고의 증가로 이어지고 있는데 이 중 인적과실에 의한 해양사고가 대부분의 원인으로 밝혀져 있다. 인적과실 중 항해나 당직근무 중 졸음에 의한 사고가 빈번한데 이를 방지하기 위하여 IMO(international maritime organization, 국제해사기구)에서는 선교 항해당직 경보시스템의 의무탑재를 시행하고 있다. 하지만 현행의 선교 항해당직 경보시스템은 재설정 방식에 따른 불편함 때문에 항해사들의 불만이 제기되고 있어 이에 대한 해소책으로 IMO에서는 모션센서를 선교 항해당직 경보시스템에 도입할 것을 권고하고 있다. 그러나 이 모션센서의 탐지기술이나 동작원리는 처음 육상용 화재경보시스템 혹은 보안시스템용으로 개발 및 제작되어진 것이므로 이를 특수한 조건인 선박의 항해당직에 적용할 때 야기될 수 있는 문제점이나 고려사항등을 검토해 볼 필요가 있다. 이 논문에서는 이 모션센서의 선교에서의 이상적인 구성, 필요한 기능, 적확한 작동여부, 모션센서와 압력센서나 음성인식센서와 같은 다른 수단과의 병용 등을 고려하여 모션센서의 최적기능 확보를 위한 성능기준을 제시하고자 한다.

자율운항선박의 충돌회피모델에 적용되는 COLREGs 항법 해석의 모호성 식별에 관한 연구

  • 국제해상충돌예방규칙(COLREGs)에 관한 협약은 해상에서 발생하는 충돌사고를 방지하기 위한 규칙으로 구성되어 있으며, Seaman(선원)의 Qualitative Rule(질적 규칙)과 Ordinary practice(통상적인 관행)에 기초하고 있다. MASS의 출현으로 인하여 질적 규칙과 관행으로 인하여 COLREG를 기반으로 한 항법 해석의 기준의 다름이 발생하였고, 기준의 차이로 인해 충돌 상황에 대한 항법 해석의 모호성문제가 발생하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 COLREG의 항법 해석의 모호성을 규명하여 유인과 무인 사이의 충돌회피 상황을 명확히 하는 것을 목적으로 한다. COLREG를 기반으로 한 충돌 상황의 모호성을 식별하기 위해 실제 항해사를 대상으로 충돌 회피 상황에 대한 인식을 조사하고, 정면 및 횡단, 횡단 및 추월 상황을 기반으로 조사 결과를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 응답자들은 008°에서 마주치는 선박에 대해서 정면 또는 횡단 상황 항법 규칙을 적용해야 하는지, 160°에서 다가오는 선박에 대해서 추월 또는 횡단 상황을 적용해야 하는지에 대해 확신하지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 이러한 모호성의 증가와 함께 충돌회피상황의 수동적 행동보다 능동적인 행동을 취함으로써 선원에 의한 충돌위험을 회피하려는 경향이 더 강해짐을 나타낸다.

Loading/Unloading Decision System of Ship Block in the Shipyard (조선소 선박 블록 상.하차 판단 시스템)

  • It is an important element increasing ship production to manage an accurate position of transporters(TP) and ship blocks in a shipyard. However, most works are presently being performed by judgment of a system manager and skilled workers. This paper introduced about the system for tracking an accurate position of the transporters and the blocks which are main mobile objects in the shipyard, and proposed a method to decide whether or not a loading/unloading state of the blocks, which is one of the most important functions of the tracking system. Three sensors were used in order to implement the method. One is a RFID reader to identify a target block, another is a RFID reader to estimate a position of the TP as it recognizes a underground tag. The other is a ultrasonic sensor to detect an object. Two experiments were carried out in the shipyard. After correcting errors found on the first experiment. we confirmed that the result could be applied to the shipbuilding yard from the final experiment.
