Ship Detection Using Background Estimation of Video and AIS Informations (영상의 배경추정기법과 AIS정보를 이용한 선박검출)

  • To support anti-collision between ship to ship and sea-search and sea-rescue work, ship automatic identification system(AIS) that can both send and receive messages between ship and VTS Traffic control have been adopted. And port control system can control traffic vessel service which is co-operated with AIS. For more efficient traffic vessel service, ship recognition and display system is required to cooperated with AIS. In this paper, we propose ship detection system which is co-operated with AIS by using background estimation based on image processing for on the sea or harbor image extracted from camera. We experiment with on the sea or harbor image extracted from real-time input image from camera. By computer simulation and real world test, the proposed system show more effective to ship monitoring.

  • Ship Standard Network was submitted as a common subject of e-navigation by 81th IMO MSC 2005. This agenda was given an official status with strategy planning of e-navigation for Ship Standard Network after approval of WG program of 81th MSC 2006. Nowadays approximately 400 heterogeneous navigation and communication equipments are working on ships at sea. Standardization of ship network is to support exchanging various data efficiently. Among them, 4S network is defined as a wireless communication network between ship to ship and ship to shore which provides unceasing communication channel ship to shore. It has been expected to trigger various services and applications based on 4S network. However, no technologies and products has been appeared at fields yet. but now there's not specific technologies and developing products. In this paper, We developed a 4S multiple media switching server and a ship-land information exchange system to overcome the heterogeneity and provide efficient communication environments.. The performance of the implemented system was verified by TTA(Telecommunications Technology Association) V&V(Verification and Validation).

An Establishment of Functional Test Facility for ICT-Convergence Equipment of Vessel : Focused on Maritime Digital Interfaces and Main Navigation Communication Systems (선박 ICT융합 장비 기능시험 시설 구축 연구 : 선박 디지털 인터페이스 및 주요 항해통신장비를 중심으로)

  • The maritime ICT-convergence equipment are essentially required to a type approval (TA) certification that needs environmental and functional tests, to install in vessel. The environmental test is to experiment the possession for required durabilities of the target device in maritime environment, and the functional test is to check the required functions of target equipment based on international standard. In Korea, the environmental testing facilities amount to 227 sites, but there is no functional testing facility. Because of this, we establish a function test facility for the maritime ICT-equipment. In this paper, we analyze and design the functional testing requirement and required interlocking simulators for digital interfaces and navigation communication equipment. We propose the 2-steps of functional testing procedures, which are single test and integration test, to improve the reliability of testing result. The single test is to examine own functions of the target device, and the integration test is to check harmonized operation with other navigation and communication devices.

  • The unmanned ship control system controls the unmanned ship at a distance in ocean. Expecially, in order to control the unmanned ship, it needs the wireless communication networks and we use the IEEE 802.11 based WLAN. The IEEE 802.11 based WLAN technology for supporting a wide bandwidth is suitable for unmanned ship control system which has to transmit the multimedia data. First, we design the system structure for controlling the unmanned ship. Then, in order to overcome the limited communication area, we design the network structure for the unmanned ship communication network which can use a various communication network. we implemented and evaluated the unmanned ship system based on WLAN. We controlled the unmanned ship by use the WLAN and confirmed the signal feature of WLAN in the ocean.

  • In this paper, we implements the USN based context-aware vessel system for a group of ships which receives the specific sensor data that is the result of context-aware after collecting from each of the among a group of ships. The received date is shared and managed by monitoring system. If this monitoring system have trouble the sensor from any ship, the it's control was transferred from the main monitoring ship to the any ship and the second main ship collect the data then recognize the context-aware. Also, this system have the advantage of that reduce the load due to the sensor node communication because just collect the optional sensor data.

  • This paper presents the design and implementation of Internet-based message transfer agent via INMARSAT-C between the land and ship for the convenient message transfer service using the Internet mail or Web. In order to achieve these purpose, overall system configuration for communication between the land and ship, agent modules and database for managing transmission and receiving data are described. For the validity evaluation of this paper, message parsing, database, message format and X.25 interface modules are implemented and tested. Based on the result, the capabilities of ship automation system and ownship database access are discussed.

  • Until now ship communication micro serial network communication method is designed for the communication between the controller and the RS-422 communication on the international standard ISO 1993, but gradually progresses NMEA 2000 standardized fast Ethernet-based communications environments expected to be replaced. In addition, the ship's main instrumentation equipment versatility with ease gradually to control devices by monitoring and controlling are. Wind anemometer, ship mast end, where the highest wind farms typically install a separate console boxes, data loggers, indicators was required in order to manage them, to maintain them, to go through the procedures and cumbersome data update firmware were Therefore, in this paper, using the PC network, ultrasonic wind speed data processing system for implementing functional was expressed as a function of the technology elements, NMEA 2000 standard certified in separate operating console without the features of the data loggers, indicators, implementation by ultrasonic wind data processing system was implemented to minimize the maintenance cost of the operating system.

  • As an NMEA 2000 is a standard for communicate to other electronic equipment, it implemented a Universal gateway based on this ship's network. To implement a NMEA 2000 based Universal gateway, it is porting a NMEA 2000 stack source and CAN device driver source to board, and then it connected a board that equip with various communication protocol(CAN, RS232, USB, Ethernet port). To verify converted ship's data to a developed gateway, it connected pc based simulater program and monitoring program to a developed board. so we can see a ship's data through NEMA 2000 network. We verified a gateway performance and analyzed a generated ship's data from simulator program through a monitoring program that was connected a gateway and NMEA 2000 network. so it was designed, implemented to allow monitoring through utilizing a communication method that user wants.

  • The SOLAS ship should carry at least 83 different types of equipment based on the SFI group codes and each of which consists of several to dozens of components. During ship operation, it is necessary to ensure the normal operation of such equipment, and remote maintenance is highly demanded for immediate repair in the event of a equipment fault. This study proposes to find suitable classification system and to derive database structure for remote maintenance of navigation and communication equipment. As a result of this study, the classification system of equipment should be layered into equipment type, model, and component, and main table in the database consists of FMEA, service history, case data through Q&A, Preventive Maintenance. A database was constructed for 140 navigation and communication equipment models and 750 components. In order to evaluate the practical effects, service engineer evaluated the usefulness using the cloud app.
