A Study of Sunglasses being sold in Domestic (국내에서 시판되고 있는 선글라스에 관한 연구)

  • By applying the test methods of "Protection Eyewear Standard (KS P 8147)", "Glasses Frame Standard (KS G 3306)" and "Lens Standard for Sunglasses (KS P 4404)", this study analyzed optical functions of sunglasses now being sold in a road shop (A shop), a fashion goods store (B shop), a shop of highway rest area (C shop) and an optical shop (D shop). When compared with sunglasses (UV transmittance rate 8.8%) of a road shop, UV Block effects of sunglasses (UV transmittance rate 0.7%) of an optical shop showed good results. In addition, the average surface resistance against abrasion for sunglasses which was sold at an optical shop was 1.4% that was much higher than that of sunglasses of a road shop(2.2%).

Study and Research of Seller's Optical Knowledge About Sale of Goggle or Sun-glasses (고글 및 선글라스의 판매에 대한 판매인의 안경 지식에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: Recently because goggle and sunglasses is industrial products, unprofessional is selling in store what is not optical store. Due to layman's sale, check of frames or lens, the quality, curve, A/S, is impossible. Therefore layman's sale threated national eye-health. So we investigated in order to know them, merchant of goggle and sunglasses except for optician, about "how many they have optical knowledge?" and "What can they give a service us?" Methods: Regardless age, we get a survey of 208 person who purchased goggle and sunglasses in a store that it is not optical store and 100 of goggle and sunglasses except for optician. Results: Most merchant who haven it knowledge about glasses sells goggle or sunglasses. Even though merchant has knowledge about glasses, It was very littles, now. Conclusions: Optician who have expert knowledge need method that it was very littles. So goggle and sunglasses that it is registered industrial products need method to transform into health instrument.

A Sunglasses Design to Prevent Snow Blindness at High Altitude (설맹 방지를 위한 고소등반용 선글라스 디자인)

  • Recently, the population of people exploring High Mountain trekking or expedition is increasing as an increase in the backpackers. Many accidents occurring at High Mountain above 6,000 m are the results of snow blindness. The damage of cornea and/or retina is direct cause of snow blindness. The UV intensity increases on the hand, along with the altitude caused by decrease in the atmospheric pressure, on the other hand the reflections by bright snow at high mountain area. And it increases approximately 3 times and 4 times higher than the ground level at altitude of 4,000 m and 8,000 m, respectively. The use of sunglasses is more favorable than goggles for the protection of snow blindness at High Mountains. The eye frames that have high mechanical strength and the plastic lenses which can protect UV 100% are recommended. The attachable shielding pads are needed to prevent the incident UV light reflected or scattered from the gap between glasses frame and face. The sunglasses must have flexible and long temples to wind the ears adequately for the prevention of detachment during climbing and it is recommended that the metal frame to be coated with plastics to prevent the eye surroundings from frostbite.

Properties of Sunglass Lenses by Non-Destructive Test for the Sunglass Standards (비파괴식 검사를 통한 선글라스의 품질에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we compared the properties of 23 high and 55 low price sunglass lenses with the standards in the ordinary optical properties, materials, coloration, UV, IR and luminous transmittance, color acceptance for traffic signal, chromaticity and contrast sensitivity. The ordinary optical properties of the lenses met comparatively the requirements of the KS standard. The HIGH-type and LOW-type lenses were primarily made by glass and acrylate, respectively. In the coloration, HIGH-type was in group around neutral color but LOW-type was distributed widely on the line between 570 nm and 485 nm. There are fails in 7% of HIGH-type and 18% of LOW-type in the stimulus purity of the luminous transmittance. Wavelength of the UV/VIS cut-off was over 350 nm for HIGH-type but 6% of LOW-type was under 350 nm. In the erythemal UV, all HIGH-type met the needs of standards but 5 LOW-type failed with DIN standard In the near UV, KS standard worked in stringency, and HIGH-type showed more failure than LOW-type. The characteristics of the IR transmittance of HIGH-type was better than that of LOW-type. In the color acceptance of traffic signal, all HIGH-type met the needs of ANSI standards but 21.8% of LOW-type failed with the standard. In the contrast sensitivity tested with various coloured sunglasses, the value increased with increasing of Land decreasing of test distance. In view of the results so far, HIGH-type met with excellent properties as compared with LOW-type.

The Sight Corrective Spectacle Frames as a Medical Devices (의료기기로서의 시력보정용 안경테)

  • We have compared and analyzed the definition of medical devices, classification, who treats, controls and sales the spectacle frames in South Korea, USA and European Union in this paper. South Korea classifies the spectacle frames as an industrial products while EU and USA regards it them as the medical devices. Sunglasses are industrial products in South Korea and EU but they are still the medical devices in USA. Assignment of spectacle frames and sunglasses as an industrial products could bring into several problems. Restricted classification of medical devices on spectacle frames and sunglasses will resolve the problem mentioned.

  • Recognizing the shortage of information about business models to generate profit despite the designers' recent interest in 3D printers as a new creative tool, this study set out to make sunglasses for young children, which lacked diversity in sizes according to age due to the small market scope under the old mass production system, by taking advantage of 3D printers' strength in the small batch production of customized products and propose a practical example to be expandable as a small-size business model. For these purposes, the investigator summarized the basic information about the 3D printing technology and the basic structure of sunglasses and made a size table to manufacture sunglasses for young children by analyzing the size table for vision correction. After this series of work, the study presented final product with the production costs and demonstrated that sunglasses for young children made with a 3D printer could be a practical case expandable as a competitive small-size business model in the market.

A Implementation of Face Recognition Algorithm for Automatic Teller Machine(ATM) Security System (현금인출기 보안 시스템을 위한 안면 인식 알고리즘 구현)

  • 최근 현금인출기의 설치가 증가하면서 그에 따른 범죄도 증가하는 추세이다. 현금인출기와 관련한 지능형 범죄가 증가하고 있지만 보안 시스템은 CCTV나 감시카메라를 이용하고 있어 취약한 면이 많다. 특히 감시 카메라는 실제 상황을 단순하게 녹화하는 가능만을 제공하기 때문에 모자나 마스크, 선글라스 등으로 안면을 가리고 현금인출기를 이용하면 범죄 사건 발생 후에 범인의 신원을 확인할 수 없는 문제점이 발생한다 따라서 본 논문에서는 효과적인 현금인출기 보안 시스템을 위한 안면 인식 알고리즘을 제안한다. 이 알고리즘은 현금인출기의 감시 카메라를 이용하여 사용자의 안면을 인식하고, 그 영상에서 장신구 착용 유무 판별함으로써 정상식인 얼굴과 비정상적인 얼굴을 구별한다. 성능평가에서는 정상적인 얼굴, 선글라스 착용 상태, 마스크 착용 상태, 선글라스와 마스크를 모두 작용한 상태에 대하여 안면 인식률을 비교 평가한다.

  • Ferrite thin film with glass substrate was prepared by ferrite plating method in order to make sunglass which cut off ultraviolet and electromagnetic field. It has single phase of polycrystalline spinel structure and has gloss like as mirror and has hardness without scratch by scraping with nail. The transmittance of ferrite thin film is lowered near 400nm manifestly, which shows that the ferrite thin film was cut off ultraviolet successfully. Therefore, the sunglass with ferrite plating is use of cut of ultraviolet and electromagnetic field.

Neural Network Analysis of Determinants Affecting Purchase Decisions in Fashion Eyewear (신경망분석기법을 이용한 패션 아이웨어 구매결정요소에 관한 연구)

  • This study applies neural network analysis techniques to examine the factors influencing the purchasing decisions of fashion eyewear among women in their 30s and 40s, comparing these findings with traditional parametric analysis methods. In the fashion area, machine learning techniques are utilized for personalized fashion recommendation systems. However, research on such applications in Korea remains insufficient. By reanalyzing a study conducted in 2017 using traditional quantitative methods with these new techniques, this study aims to confirm the utility of neural network methods. Notably, the study finds that the classification accuracy of preferred sunglasses design is highest, at 86.2%, when the L-BFGS-B neural network is activated using the hyperbolic tangent function. The most critical factors influencing purchasing decisions were consumers' occupations and their pursuit of new styles. It is interpreted that Korean sunglasses consumers prefer "safe changes." These findings are consistent for selecting both the frames and lenses of sunglasses. Traditional quantitative analysis suggests that the type of sunglasses preferred varies according to the group to which a consumer belongs. In contrast, neural network analysis predicts the preferred sunglasses for each individual, thereby facilitating the development of personalized sunglasses recommendation systems.
