  • The Korea's West Coast has been considered as the gateway to the economies of Southeast Asia and China. Thanks to geographical advantages, harbors located in this region have been playing a vital role despite the fact that most harbors in this region are the small and medium ones. The GunJangHang is such harbor. This paper aims to investigate the important role of this harbor, as well as to analyze the competitiveness of GunJangHang port with those of the luncheon phosphorus port, Pyongteak port, and Mokpo port regarding the rapid increasing cargo volume through this region recently.

  • 겨울철에 동아시아는 시베리아 대륙으로부터 부는 북서계절풍의 영향을 크게 받는다. 지속성이 강한 계절풍은 선박의 안전운항과 기상재해에 큰 영향을 미친다. 이 연구에서는 30년간(1992-2021년)의 장기간의 데이터를 이용하여 동아시아에 위치해 있는 우리나라와 일본에서의 겨울철 계절풍의 변화를 분석하였다. 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 우리나라 서해안에 위치한 군산에서의 풍속은 시간의 흐름과 함께 약해지는 경향을 보이나, 인천에서는 큰 변화가 보이지 않는다. 우리나라 제주도에 위치한 고산은 다른 두 지역보다 월등히 강한 풍속을 보이나, 이 지역 또한 시간의 흐름과 함께 풍속이 약해지고 있음을 확인하였다. 인천, 군산 및 고산 중에서 풍속이 가장 강한 곳은 고산이고, 그 다음은 인천, 군산의 순이다. 일본의 아키타, 와지마, 하마다의 겨울철 풍속은 세 지역 모두 점진적으로 약해지고 있으나, 2000년에 세 곳 모두 풍속이 급격히 강해진 특징을 보였으며 2005-2007년에는 풍속이 다시 약해졌다. 풍속이 가장 강한 곳은 아키타이며, 그 다음으로는 하마다, 와지마 순이다. 우리나라와 일본을 비교하였을 때, 고산을 제외하고는 일본이 우리나라보다 평균적으로 풍속이 더 강한 양상을 띠고 있어, 서해보다 동해에서 계절풍이 더 강하게 불고 있음을 확인하였다.

  • To ensure that Korea continues to grow, past governments have been consistent in following a policy of advancing into Russia, Mongolia, and Eurasia. The northern economy can expect to achieve synergistic growth because its economic structure complements that of Korea, which has high energy demand and industrial development. There is also an opportunity to accelerate the growth of the China-Russia-Mongolia economic corridor, which is based on Russia's Look East Policy, China's One Belt One Road, and the Mongolian Steppe Road initiative. The Korean government is pursuing a New Northern Policy to achieve the goal of economic cooperation and peace building with other nations, including North Korea; this policy succeeds the Northern Policy pursued by the previous government. As international economic cooperation requires transportation infrastructure, the demand for shipping, which offers more advantages than road and rail transportation, will increase; thus, it is necessary to prepare for it. Korea's port cities, which have a port that serves as the nodal point for maritime transportation, need to prepare for the New Northern Policy. In this paper, the long-term development of Seosan-Daesan port in the was planned and the North Korea's opening-op plan was considered in accordance with the New Northern Policy. Because international cooperation between the government and the provincial cities is required, cooperation with the Port Authority is needed, along with the proactive attitude of Seosan City, Chungcheongnam-do. The Seosan-Daesan port, which is the center of the liquid energy cargo center, can become the base of the New Northern Policy Region; further, the port can be an opportunity to establish its position as a peaceful economic hub on the west coast of Korea.

  • Seashore landfill projects use undersea pump dredging method for construction of airport and factory site. Coarse grain soil from the dredging is considered for use at inland. West sea shore bottom consists of primarily coarser grained silt-sand and this component contains far more percentage than is the case with East sea and South sea area. This soil shows very different characteristic at consolidation and compaction behavior. This research targets to utilize this type of dredging soil. Test specimen is from West sea (Saemangum) dredged soil landfill site. Model analysis is done for getting prediction of original soil relative density and N-value from dynamic compaction energy variance. Dynamic compaction energy is calculated for efficient foundation design.

  • The modern ports have become multi-functionalized and network-centralized over time. Recently the development of industry in the land behind the port area has become very important for port itself. Furthermore, the port functions as a finance center and an integrated function of the main bank of the world. It will be necessary for Inchon port to pursue the policy for building itself as a hub center for logistics integration and building network in the region of Northern-East Asia and Seoul Capital City area in order for Inchon port to support and develop various industries through utilizing each aspect of the industrial complex in these areas. By doing this, it will act as a policy for strengthening competiveness for Inchon port. The sharp increase of cargo movement from rapidly developing Industries in China will become a good opportunity for strengthening the competitiveness of Inchon port. However, considering the characteristics of the ports competitiveness, this policy must quickly overcome the difficulties of Inchon port.

  • Creating more efficient and effective intermodal transportation service in Northeast range is a critical issue because of more increased trade volume & demand for intermodal service in the world market and geographical barriers associated with goods transportation, especially in Korea, China and Japan. This study examines the possibility of Rail-ferry in Northest area which can provide each countries mutual economical and logistical satisfaction.

  • The region of Kochang(Chollabuk-Do) located in the west-southern area of the Korea and passed by the West Coast Expressway has the yellow collar soil(Hwang-To) primarily containing clay. Hwang-To serves as a soil appropriate for growing the watermelon and yam, but as a subgrade material not strong for constructing the roads. Particularly, the subgrade material of this study site was not qualified for the standard of the subgrade material quality. The properties of the subgrade layer showed that the strength of the subgrade material was not strong enough to sustain the subgrade strength in constructing the roads since the passing ratio of the No. 200 sieve was about 25% to 82% and the ground water level was early equal to subgrade one. Thus, the objective of this study was to present the methods obtaining the proper subgrade strength of cutting area to construct the secure and solid expressways in the fragile area.

  • 부유식 라이다는 해상풍력단지 조성시 필수적으로 수행하고 있는 풍황관측 업무에 새로운 패러다임을 제공하고 있는 시스템으로, 전통적으로 풍황관측을 수행하고 있던 해상기상관측탑을 대체하여 사업 초기의 대규모 공사를 획기적으로 축소하여 시간과 비용을 절약하고, 환경적 영향을 최소화 하며, 지역사회의 반발 요소까지 줄일 수 있어 해당 업계의 표준으로 자리잡고 있는 중이다. 다만 부표식의 동요에 따른 외란적 요소가 관측자료의 신뢰성에 영향을 미치는 만큼 안정적인 플랫폼의 설계 및 검증이 매우 중요한 상황이며, 국내에서는 해당기술에 대한 늦은 진입으로 인해 다수의 외산장비 제조사들이 국내시장까지 선점하고 있는 상황이다. 한국의 서해안은 천해 환경으로 조석차가 매우 커 지역에 따라 강한 조류가 반복적으로 나타나며, 계절별로 상이한 강한 에너지의 파랑이 형성되는 등 플랫폼에 안정도에 많은 영향을 미치는 바다 환경을 갖고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 복잡한 환경적 특성을 갖고 있는 우리나라의 해역에 라이다 운영에 적합한 부표식에 대한 연구를 수행하며, 우선적으로 적용하였던 선박형 부표식의 최적화 설계 및 검증 사례를 소개하고, 향후 다양한 플랫폼 개발에 토대가 되는 중요 개념을 도출하고자 한다.

  • 최근 해양에너지플랜트 및 도서지역을 연결시키기 위한 해저 파이프라인 및 통신, 전력 케이블 매설공사가 빈번하게 이루어지고 있다. 특히, 연안항로를 가로지르는 해저케이블 매설공사에는 준설장비를 동원하여 해저부를 굴착하고 케이블을 부설한 후 상단을 덮어 보호하는 일련의 작업과정이 행해지며 이 과정에서 해저저질의 상태, 준설심도, 조류 또는 연안류의 흐름강도, 수심, 통항선박 등 다양한 조건에 따라 단면의 굴착심도 및 폭이 결정되며, 작업의 순서 또는 방법에 따라 여굴의 정도도 변하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 우리나라 서해안 실제해역에서 연안 도서를 연결하는 전력, 통신망의 개통을 위한 해저케이블 부설과 관련한 굴착단면의 실태를 실제 현장여건과 관련해서 적정단면과 준설물량의 산정을 다루어 해저환경변화에 대처하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 대상해역에서 주요설계 지침에 따른 해저부 굴착단면의 평가와 적정단면을 검토하였으며, 이 단면에 따른 준설 적정물량을 산정하여 작업공정에 활용할 수 있도록 하였다.
