Surfing Resources Management for Sustainable Surfing in Surfable Region - Focusing on Jukdo, Yangyang, Gangwon Province (서핑가능 지역의 지속가능한 서핑을 위한 서핑자원 관리 - 강원도 양양군 죽도해변을 중심으로)

  • Surfing is a sport sensitive to changes in the natural environment, using naturally occurring waves. In other words, factors such as the construction of coastal structures, coastal erosion, and sediment transportation could cause the wave to change into a direction inappropriate for surfing at the shore where surfable waves were reaching. In this study, we call the characteristics of the coastal environment that affect the formation of surfable waves as surfing resources, which is subsequently analyzed by coastal engineering methodologies. Also, using Delft3D-WAVE module (SWAN model), a way to evaluate sustainability of surfable wave is suggested through analysis of surfing resources at Jukdo, Yangyang, Gangwon Province, Republic of Korea.

Cross-sectional analysis on recreation specialization of surfing participants (서핑 참여자의 레크리에이션 전문화에 관한 횡단적 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to introduce surfing which is not a familiar leisure activity in Korea and provide understanding of surfing participants through the cross-sectional analysis on the process of forming recreational specialization from introductory levels with enthusiastic surfing participants. This study employs a qualitative approach to analyze each participant's experience on recreation specialization in detail, and in particular uses ethnographic research methods to derive participants' meaning of life and daily routines and cultural behavioral patterns changed through surfing. First, through the analysis of in-depth interview data, total 531 conceptual words were identified and the first categorization was established. Second, surfing participants mentioned that they had high expectations of surfing even before they first encountered it. Third, surfing participants noted that they experienced leisure constraints and made efforts to resolve this issue before reaching the recreation specialization process. Fourth, surfing participants were found to go through a recreation specialization process. Fifth, surfing participants were found to undergo life changes. They worked hard in their everyday life through physical training, improvement of surfing skills, and analysis of their own videos to be better at surfing.

An Adaptive Web Surfing System for Supporting Autonomous Navigation (자동항해를 지원하는 적응형 웹 서핑 시스템)

  • To design a user-adaptive web surfing system, we nay take the approach to divide the whole process into three phases; collecting user data, processing the data to construct and improve the user profile, and adapting to the user by applying the user profile. We have designed three software agents. Each privately works in each phase and they collaboratively support adaptive web surfing. They are IIA(Interactive Interface Agent), UPA(User Profile Agent), and ANA(Autonomous Navigation Agent). IIA provides the user interface, which collects data and performs mechanical navigation support. UPA processes the collected user data to build and update the user profile while user is web-surfing. ANA provides an autonomous navigation mode in which it automatically recommends web pages that are selected based on the user profile. The proposed approach and design method, through extensions and refinements, may be used to build a practical adaptive web surfing system.

  • 한국해양수산개발원(KMI) 조사에 따르면, 수상레저장비 중 하나인 전기 추진 보드류 (전동서핑보드, 전동웨이크보드, 전동패들보드 등)의 경제규모는 '28년도 까지 약 59억 달러까지 성장할 것으로 예측 될 정도로 급격한 성장을 하고있는 품목으로, 국내에서도 활발하게 제조, 수입, 유통 등이 이루어지고 있다. 하지만 성능 및 안전을 평가하는 정형화된 국내외 시험 표준이 전무한 실정으로, 시험 및 검사 없이 제조사의 자체 테스트에 의존하여 시장에 출시 되고 있다. 이에 신뢰성 있는 전기 추진 보드류 안전기준(안)을 개발 및 제시함으로써 제품의 품질 및 안전성을 향상시키고, 위해사고의 예방 및 국민의 건전한 수상레저활동 확보를 위한 기반을 조성하고자 한다.

  • The gaze-based input provides feedback to confirm that the typing is correct when the user types the text. Many studies have already demonstrated that feedback can increase the usability of gaze-based inputs. However, because the information of the typed text is revealed through feedback, it can be a target for shoulder-surfing attacks. Appropriate feedback needs to be used to improve security without compromising the usability of the gaze-based input using the original feedback. In this paper, we propose a new gaze-based input method, FFI(Fake Flickering Interface), to resist shoulder-surfing attacks. Through experiments and questionnaires, we evaluated the usability and security of the FFI compared to the gaze-based input using the original feedback.

An Agent System for Supporting Adaptive Web Surfing (적응형 웹 서핑 지원을 위한 에이전트 시스템)

  • The goal of this research has been to develop an adaptive user agent for web surfing. To achieve this goal, the research has concentrated on three issues: collection of user data, construction and improvement of user profile, and adaptation by applying the user profile. The main outcome from the research is a prototype system that provides the functional definition and componential design scheme for an adaptive user agent for the web environment. Internally, the system achieves its operational goal from the cooperation of two independent agents. They are IIA (Interactive Interface Agent) and UPA (User Profiling Agent). As a tool for providing a user-friendly interface environment, the IIA employs the Keyword Index, which is a list of index terms of a webpage as well as a keyword menu for subsequent queries, and the Suggest Link, which is a hierarchical list of URLs showing the past browsing procedure of the user. The UPA reflects in the User Profile, both the static and the dynamic information obtained from the user's browsing behavior. In particular, a user's interests are represented in the form of Interest Vectors which, based on the similarity of the vectors, is subject to update and creation, thus dynamically profiling the user's ever-shifting interests.

  • 이제는 인터넷이 우리의 생활 깊숙히 들어와 온라인 쇼핑, 웹 기반 메일, 소프트웨어 업/다운로드 등 인터넷을 서핑하는 것이 하루 세끼 밥을 먹고, TV를 보는 것처럼 생활화되었다. 이런 인터넷을 통해 하루에도 수많은 파일들이 FTP를 통해 들어오고 나가고 있으나 현재로서는 클라이언트 단위에서 사용자가 직업 바이러스를 점검, 치료하고 있을 뿐이다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 클라이언트에 유입되기 전 단계인 게이트웨이에서 FTP의 인터넷 트래픽을 조사형 들어오는 파일들 중 바이러스에 감염된 파일을 체크함으로써 클라이언트에 유입되기 전에 치료 및 사용자에게 재전송하는 바이러스 탐지 시스템을 제안한다.

Lightweight Packet Authentication for Access Control in IEEE 802.11 (IEEE 802.11에서의 접근 제어를 위한 Lightweight 패킷 인증)

  • Because IEEE 802.11 has several security vulnerabilities, IEEE 802.11i was proposed and accepted. But IEEE 802.11i has much overhead for most of users for the web surfing. Besides not only node the authentication but also the packet authentication is needed to communicate. Although IEEE 802.11i uses TKIP(Temporal Key integrity Protocol) and CCMP(CTR with CBC-MAC Protocol), they have a lot of overheads. In this paper, Lightweight Packet Authentication(LIPA) is proposed. LIPA has less overhead and short delay so that it can be affordable for simple web-surfing which does not need stronger security. After comparing performances of LIPA with those of TKIP and CCMP, LIPA is more efficient than other schemes for transmitting packets.
