A Quality Management Model for Consumer-oriented Spatial Information (사용자 관점의 융·복합 공간정보 품질관리 방안 연구)

  • As demands and applications of spatial information increase, different aspects of quality management have been raised as an important issue. This study suggests a quality management method for consumer-oriented spatial information, providing the consumer satisfaction. As opposed to the demands mentioned, less attention has been paid on the quality for the spatial information. So far, most of spatial information producers have kept their own independent quality management system and standard. Because of this unconscious response, it has been difficult to reflect the consumer's various and flexible demands from the silo structure of the quality management systems and regulations. The explosive increase of spatial information products creates quality-related problems such as limited time and budget for the consumer-oriented quality management. To solve these problems this study suggests to use a minimum number of the basic spatial information products which can guarantee better qualities when other products are combined. Because each of the spatial information product can include several other sub-products inside, it can have intrinsic characteristics such as geographic accuracy relationships between the products when combined and a hierarchical structure in each product in terms of the quality management mentioned. To prove the usability of the model, a case of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure Center is used because the Center collects and distributes an enormous amount of spatial information to the public and private sector.

  • The purpose of this paper is to pursue a case study of urban land use and transportation linkage policies based on a British city of Cardiff, Wales. To this end, the paper combines a review and synthesis of available land use and transportation planning sources, and a series of interviews with planners and a extensive survey of planning policy documents to assess the effectiveness of policy instruments in the city context. Considerable emphasis is placed on the analysis of the British land use and transportation planning in terms of the Policy guidance notes 11, 12 and 13 as well as the local transport policy guidance. The paper highlights the fact that the Cardiff unitary development plan and the local transport plan form a policy framework of integrating land use and transportation planning process, employing travel demand management schemes and implementing the various strategy components on the overall aim of achieving and maintaining a sustainable city.

Self-understanding of Art in an age of the End of Self-evidence (자명성 종언의 시대에서 예술의 자기이해 - 가다머(H.-G. Gadamer)의 「예술의 종언?」을 중심으로 -)

  • This paper aims to describe the past character of art through Gadamer's interpretation of "End of the Art" thesis of Hegel. His interpretation also reveals that new art can demand a validity as a way of self-understanding that the art understands itself from its past. Hegel declared the end of art in his philosophical system. From Gadamer's perspective, it means that art has past character in the horizon of modern christianity-humanistic self-evidence (II). Then art understands itself as the past and demands its own validity. Gadamer sees that art cannot require common self-evidence which is clearly and universally understood by all in an age of "the end of self-evidence." And according to him, this requirement shows up in the phenomenon of anti-art in post-modernism(III). From his standpoint it is about time to demand new validity of art again and this requirement could be complied through hermeneutical self-understanding. Art exists as a self-understanding artwork in the cycle of understanding in which art understands itself as an understood past. As a play is played by players, artwork exists as participating spectators. This artwork does not demand a common understanding but exists through various understandings of spectators(IV).

Historical Transitions in the Definitions of Deonum (더늠 개념의 역사적 변천)

  • Deonum preexisted prior to it being named. Of course, the object designated as deonum at that time is not the same as the object designated as deonum at this time. There have been historical transitions in the definitions of the term deonum. This paper traced the term deonum to its origin from another angle. On closer inspection about the possible use as the everyday language and the technical language in the field of arts except for pansori, the term deonum was essentially a word for a tune. Deonum was in the same category as deureum, a great word in the Korean traditional music. But the definition of deonum as a tune used in the early part of the former period of eight master singers or before that gradually disappeared for a long time. When the term deonum as an everyday language first entered the field of pansori, it meaned characteristic tune singed by master singers. As pansori develop artistically, the term deonum changed into the word refers to the sori part, and this example become common in the former period of eight master singers. Most sori part acknowledged as a deonum in the former period of eight master singers was a deonum as a creative repertories, the master singer's creative work, but a deonum as a popular repertories, the master singer's specialty, began to be acknowledged as a deonum after the latter period of eight master singers. The differentiation between the definitions of deonum as a sori part occured. And most sori part acknowledged as a deonum after the modern era of five master singers have belonged to a deonum as a specialty. In this context, it was confirmed that Cheong Nosik wrote Joseonchanggeuksa, with carefully considering the historical change of definitions of deonum. This book includes three definitions of deonum, a deonum as a tune, a deonum as a creative work, and deonum as a specialty.

On the Travelogue to Shenyang written by Seon Yak-hae - A mushin's (military official) report of secret observation on Qing Dynasty (선약해(宣若海)의 『심양일기(瀋陽日記)』 - 병자호란 전 조선 무신의 후금(後金)에 대한 정탐 일기 -)

  • 'Travelogue to Shenyang(瀋陽日記)' is a documentary literature that Seon Yak-hae (宣若海) who was a military official of Joseon(朝鮮) Dynasty, described matters happened in Shenyang when he visited there as an envoy during early 17th century when Qing(淸) Dynasty and Ming(明) Dynasty coexisted and had diplomatic conflict with Joseon Dynasty. This documentary literature is included in the data collection of China that gathers important historical data of China and has been published and delivered in China, but it hasn't caught attention in Korean academic society. There's another 'Travelogue to Shenyang' which is known in the academic society that is a record of eight years of hostage period of Crown Prince Sohyeon and his group in Shenyang. However, this 'Travelogue to Shenyangl' of Seon Yak-hae is a record of Joseon and other countries' status at that time as well as the Joseon intellectual's activities while visiting Shenyang before the outbreak of the Manchurian Invasion (to Korea) in 1636. Seon Yak-hae who wrote this 'Travelogue to Shenyang' recorded his successful works as an envoy with proud, and showed a unique appearance as a military official and intellect who wanted to observe political and military status of Qing Dynasty secretly and report to his country. Since he was an intellect who had military background, he responded bravely when dealing with diplomatic problem and collected data strategically. He also had the ability as an intellectual official, so he wrote realistic articles and also wrote some poems to express his honest feelings in this peculia Travelogue. Therefore, this ' Travelogue to Shenyang' has both values as a historic records that showed diplomatic status of Joseon in the 17th century and literature records that showed unique spirit to record as an intellect who also had military mind.

The Respectful Characteristics of a Scientist and the Effects of Dr. Hwang, Woo Seok Event on Science Gifted Students (과학 영재 학생들이 존경하는 과학자의 조건과 황우석 박사 사건에 대한 과학 영재들의 인식)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of a respectful scientist from the perspective of the science gifted students and their recognition on the event of Dr. Hwang, Woo Seok and its effects on their future goal decision. The participants of this study are 19(11 males, 8 females) second grade of junior high school students, chemistry department of S Science-gifted Education Center, and 44(32 males, 12 females) first and second grade of J Science high school students. The questionnaire was developed and both quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed. The result showed the characteristics of a scientist the students respect were varied by school level and the sex. For the event of Dr. Hwang, Woo Seok, 47.6% students recognized that he must be banished from the science field and 36.5% students showed sympathy for Dr. Hwang, Woo Seok. It was said that most science gifted students realized the importance of honesty through this event. Most science gifted students were recognized the necessity of moral education in science gifted education.

Developing a Curriculum of English Storytelling in a Global Corporation's Context: Focus on Proficiency Building (글로벌 기업에서 스토리텔링 영어교육 콘텐츠 개발과 적용: 능숙도 향상을 목표로)

  • This study aims to understand how a global corporation's storytelling-based curriculum is developed for improving English proficiency. Little research has been done from the perspectives of global corporation, and a curriculum of storytelling on Stein and Glenn (1979)'s model was implemented inside English Language Education Program of Samsung Display. 10 participants employed at the global corporation were taught by two instructors during the first semester of 2017 language learning program. The curriculum consisted of three modules: event focused, structure focused, character focused. Storytelling elements of each module were explicitly planned and taught by two instructors. All classes were audio-recorded and observed by the other researchers. It was found that there is a need for improving storytelling proficiency in the global corporation, and that storytelling skills can be teachable, learnable, and assessable.

A Study on the Misconceptions of High School Students on Magma and Plate Tectonics (마그마와 판구조론에 대한 고등학생들의 오개념)

  • The purposes of this study were to identify the misconceptions that students have on the magma and plate tectonics and to present the implications in developing textbooks as well as related curriculum of high school textbooks. Data were collected through questionnaire, consisting of some questions, short essays, and descriptive drawings, developed by the research team. A total of 140 high school students(9th graders) responded to those questionnaires and were interviewed for further information. It was reported that participants displayed various misconceptions related to magma and plate tectonics. The identified misconceptions are as follows: For the definition of magma, the 31% of participants misunderstood magma as lava. In respect to the generative mechanism of magma at subduction zone, over 90% of students responded that it is generated by frictional heat. The source of misconceptions were identified as a result from textbooks and related reference-books. For the concept of plates, 87% of students conceived 'crust or a lower part of the plates' as 'plates'. Most participants hold the right concept of oceanic ridge, whereas, 66% of them considered 'rift valley' as either 'divergence of continental plates' or 'converging boundary'. 63% of them defined 'collision boundary of continental plate' as either 'subduction zone' or 'diverging boundary'. For the definitions of the trench and Benioff zone, 86% of students responded them as the place of subduction or differing density between two converging plates. The students' misconceptions were resulted from the errors and insufficient explanation, inappropriate figures, and data presented in textbooks, reference-books, lecture, and web sites. The results of this study are implied to contribute the improvement of students' misconceptions.

A Comparative Study on the Contents of Secondary Earth Science Curriculum between Mongolia and South Korea (몽골과 한국의 지구과학 교과 내용 비교 연구)

  • This study compared and analyzed the contents of secondary earth science curriculum in Mongolia and South Korea to check the contents of earth science education in both countries and to prepare basic data necessary for future earth science curriculum revisions. The research questions of this study are: first, to understand the changes and current operating conditions of earth science curriculum in both countries, to compare and analyze with other foreign cases, and second, to compare and analyze the contents of earth science and curriculum in both countries. The TIMSS evaluation framework is used to compare and analyze the earth science-related contents included in the science curriculum of middle schools. For analyzing the contents of high school, the contents of NGSS in the United States and the earth science curriculum contents of high schools in South Korea were mixed and the analysis frameworks were created and validated by experts. As a result of the study, countries that follow the Russian-style education system did not organize and operate earth science as an independent science subject, and deal with earth science-related content in the natural geography area of the geography subject. The earth science contents covered in middle school science curriculum in both countries, 18 of the 27 content elements of the TIMSS content analysis framework were matched in Mongolia and 20 in South Korea. In high school curriculum, the contents of earth science in Mongolia were described more briefly and not covered than in South Korea. In particular, the Mongolian geography curriculum dealt with many environmental issues. The emphasis on the operation method of the earth science curriculum in Mongolia and the contents related to the environment can be used as a reference when developing an interdisciplinary integrated curriculum of science and social studies in South Korea.

A Survey of Music Therapists' Understanding of Music Therapy National Certification (음악치료 국가자격증에 대한 음악치료사의 인식도 조사)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate music therapists' awareness of the music therapy national certification (MTNC). Online questionnaires were distributed to music therapists who voluntarily agreed to participate in this research and 143 completed surveys were collected for analysis. The questionnaire consisted of 37 questions (background information, awareness of the necessity for MTNC, expected effects of national certification, and qualification management). According to the collected data, music therapists reported that they were highly aware of the necessity for MTNC. The participants believed that excessive issueing of private licenses might deteriorate the quality of music therapy services and job opportunities. As alternatives to address private license-related issues, participants agreed with the establishment of national certification system. Given that participants did not have enough knowledge of MTNC and the MTNC may have both pros and cons, the results should be generalized with caution. Still, this study could provide basic information for further discussion on the establishment of MTNC.
