A Name-based Service Discovering Mechanism for Efficient Service Delivery in IoT (IoT에서 효율적인 서비스 제공을 위한 이름 기반 서비스 탐색 메커니즘)

  • The Internet of Things (IoT) is an environment in which various devices provide services to users through communications. Because of the nature of the IoT, data are stored and distributed in heterogeneous information systems. In this situation, IoT end applications should be able to access data without having information on where the data are or what the type of storage is. This mechanism is called Service Discovery (SD). However, some problems arise, since the current SD architectures search for data in physical devices. First, turnaround time increases from searching for services based on physical location. Second, there is a need for a data structure to manage devices and services separately. These increase the administrator's service configuration complexity. As a result, the device-oriented SD structure is not suitable to the IoT. Therefore, we propose an SD structure called Name-based Service-centric Service Discovery (NSSD). NSSD provides name-based centralized SD and uses the IoT edge gateway as a cache server to speed up service discovery. Simulation results show that NSSD provides about twice the improvement in average turnaround time, compared to existing domain name system and distributed hash table SD architectures.

A Study on Image Reconstruction using Nonlinear Spatial Filter in Impulse Noise Environments (임펄스 잡음환경에서 비선형 공간필터를 이용한 영상복원에 관한 연구)

  • According to the increase of demand for diverse multimedia services, techniques to use images as the tool of information transmission have been rapidly developed. However, impulse noise affecting the reception of image and signal error occurs in the process of digitalization and transmission of images. In order to remove this impulse noise, a nonlinear filter is generally applied and a standard median (SM) filter is representative. However, SM filter degrades the qualify of overall image by error of the edge component. Therefore, in this paper, to restore the corrupted image by impulse noise, a nonlinear spatial filter based on Min-max operation was proposed and was compared with conventional methods through simulations.

  • This paper is on the enhancement of our heuristics for GOSST problem that could apply to the design of communication networks offering graduated services. This problem hewn as one of NP-Hard problems finds a network topology meeting the G-Condition with minimum construction cost. In our prior research, we proposed two heuristics. We suggest methods of selecting G-Node and disconnections for Global or Local locating heuristic in this research. The ameliorated Local locating heuristic retrenches 17% more network construction cost saving ratio and the reformed Global locating heuristic does 14% more than our primitives.

  • 다시점 비디오는 여러 개의 시점(view-point)을 이용하여 현장감과 몰입감을 제공하는 새로운 형태의 멀티미디어 서비스이다. 시점의 개수가 증가함에 따라 방대한 양의 영상 데이터로 인한 영상 획득, 저장 전송 및 재현 시 문제가 발생한다. 또한 현재의 다시점 비디오에 관한 연구는 고정된 카메라로 환경이 제한되어 있다. 본 논문에서는 유동적인 카메라 환경에서 최적의 상관관계를 가지는 영상을 획득하기 위한 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 영상의 일부분만을 선택하여 중복성을 먼저 측정하고, 중복성의 척도에 따라 사용자와의 상호작용을 통하여 높은 상관관계를 가지는 다시점 영상을 획득할 수 있다. 또한 영상 획득 시 카메라간의 조명 차이에 의해 발생되는 부정확성을 감소시키기 위해 영상 마스킹을 적용한다. 마스킹된 영상에 에지 검출 방법을 적용하여 변위 추정을 함으로써 계산 복잡도를 줄였다.

  • As the demand for various multimedia service increases the technology that utilizes image as information transfer method develops rapidly. Though average filter, median filter and weight filter etc. have been proposed to remove various noises that are added to images, the existing methods are short of noise removal and edge reservation performance. Therefore, in this paper an algorithm, in which noise is decided at the first hand, and then it is processed through modified median filter and adaptive weighted average filter, is proposed to effectively remove the complex noise that has been added to an image. And it was compared with existing methods through simulation and PSNR(peak signal to noise ratio) has been used as a criterion.

  • 본 논문은 MPEG-4 기반의 모바일 비디오 서비스 환경에서 발생하는 화질열화 현상의 하나인 블륵킹 현상을 제거하는 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 전처리 과정과 3가지 모드의 디블록킹 필터 및 후처리 과정으로 구성되어 있으며 각 모드는 블록경계의 특성에 따라 적용된다. 모드 1은 블록경계의 양쪽 모두가 평탄한 경우에 해당하며 가장 강한 필터를 적용한다. 모드 2는 블록경계의 한쪽만 평탄한 경우이고 이때는 비대칭 필터를 적용한다. 모드 3은 블록경계를 중심으로 양쪽 모두 복잡한 경우이고, 이 경우에는 블록경계의 주파수 특성을 고려하여 화소값을 보정한다. 전처리 과정에서는 각 필터의 모드를 올바르게 선택하도록 블록 내부의 불필요한 신호를 제거하고, 후처리 과정에서는 대각선 에지와 블록의 모서리가 만나는 경우 발생하는 corner outlier를 제거하여 주관적 화질을 향상시킨다. 실험결과에서 제안한 방법이 PSNR 관점에서 후처리 과정을 거치지 않는 비디오의 경우와 비교하여 약 0.7dB, MPEG-4 디블록킹 결과와 비교하여 약 0.4dB 향상됨을 보인다.

  • Recent augmentation reality demands more realistic multimedia data with the mixture of various media. High-technology for multimedia data which combines existing media data with various media such as audio and video dominates entire media industries. In particular, there is a growing need to serve augmentation reality, 3-dimensional contents and realtime interaction system development which are communication method and visualization tool in Internet. The existing services do not correspond to generate depth value for 3-dimensional space structure recovery which is to form solidity in existing contents. Therefore, it requires research for effective depth-map generation using 2-dimensional video. Complementing shortcomings of existing depth-map generation method using 2-dimensional video, this paper proposes an enhanced depth-map generation method that defines the depth direction in regard to loss location in a video in which none of existing algorithms has defined.

Processing Techniques for Non-photorealistic Contents Rendering in Mobile Devices (모바일 기기에서의 비실사적 콘텐츠 렌더링을 위한 프로세싱 기법)

  • Recently, development of mobile service and increased demand for mobile device make mobile environment noticeable in computer graphics. Especially demand for 3D graphic services in mobile devices is steadily increased. However up to the present non-photorealistic rendering is mainly studied in desktop platform. In the result, existing research were designed for desktop computers and are not well-suited for mobile devices. Thus, there is a growing needs for processing techniques that provide the ability to render 3D non-photorealistic graphics through mobile devices. In this paper, we discuss processing techniques for non-photorealistic rendering that are especially cartoon shading and rendering in mobile devices. Through the result of this research, it is expected that silhouette edge rendering for mobile display environment and preprocessing file technique for shading. The efficiency of 3D mobile graphic service like 3D model in cartoon style is increased by using proposed preprocessing file and rendering pipeline. Our work can provide mobile cartoon rendering results and various mobile contents to users.

  • In this paper we proposea method for estimating the bandwidth in next-generation If network. Especially, we concentrate on the edge routers accommodating the VoIP connections as well as a group of data connections. Bandwidth dimensioning is carried out at call level and packet level for voice traffic in the next-generation IP network. The model incorporates the statistical estimation approach at a call level for obtaining the number of voice connections simultaneously in the active mode. The call level model incorporates a statistical technique to compute the statistics of the number of active connections such as the mean and variance of the simultaneously connected calls in the network. The packet level model represents a load map for voice and data traffic by using non-preemptive M/G/1 queuing model with strict priority for voice over data buffer, From the proposed traffic model, we can derive a graph for upper bounds on the traffic load in terms of bandwidth for voice and data connections. Via numerical experiments we illustrate the implication of the work.

Optimal Path Search Algorithm for Urban Applying Received Signal Strength on Satellite Communication Environment (위성통신 환경에서 전파수신감도를 활용한 도심지 최적경로탐색 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose an optimal path search algorithm that applies the received signal strength between a mobile device and a satellite. Because the common path search algorithm is only based on the shortest path search, it is difficult to provide stable multimedia services for the satellite mobile devices. The proposed algorithm provides the stable communication environment for the satellite mobile devices based on received signal strength. In Satellite communications, changes in the radio quality are severe depending on the receiving environment. Therefore, an accurate analysis of the receiving environment characteristics is very important for providing stable multimedia services of satellite communications. The causes of radio attenuation are atmosphere attenuation, vegetation attenuation and buildings attenuation. These factors were applied to analyze the received signal strength. The proposed algorithm can search the optimal path in urban for stable satellite multimedia services.
