Difference between Service Design and Product Service Systems (서비스디자인과 제품서비스 시스템의 비교연구)

  • From the perspective of a post-industrial society, the main purpose of this study is to clarify the theoretical principles that distinguish service design from product service system (PSS) and to propose a new integrated design strategy. Service design is a user-centered design technique for improving or innovating existing services and solving problems in a continuous exploration and iteration process. On the other hand, PSS is a cutting-edge business approach for organizations looking to boost their competitiveness by providing integrated product and service capabilities to clients while also enhancing system operations. This paper discusses the concepts of service design and PSS, the present state of research, and design methodologies using a literature search. The distinctions between service design and PSS are examined and summarized during the design process. The ultimate content proposed in this study is to incorporate user experience into the PSS design process and propose a systematic process to meet users' needs to effectively implement the service design concept.

A Study on the Development of Industrial Clusters in the International Science and Business Belt through the Industrial Clustering Analysis (산업 클러스터링 분석을 통한 국제과학비즈니스벨트의 클러스터 발전 방향 연구)

  • The Korean government announced plans for the International Science Business Belt as a spatial area for promoting the linkage between scientific knowledge and commercialization in 2009. R&D and entrepreneurial activities are essential for the success of the International Science Business Belt. In particular, prioritizing the types of businesses is critical at the cluster establishment stage in that this largely affects the features and development of clusters comprising the International Science Business Belt. This research aims to predict the entry and growth of firms that specialize in four industrial clusters, including Big Science Cluster, Frontier Cluster, ICT Cluster, and Bio-Healthcare Cluster. For this purpose, we employ the Swann & Prevezer's industrial clustering model to identify sectors that affect the establishment and growth of industrial clusters in the International Science Business Belt, focusing on ICT, Bio-Healthcare and Frontier clusters. Data was collected from the 2014 Korean Innovation Survey (KIS) and University Alimi for the ICT cluster, 2014 National Bio Industry Survey and University Alimi for the Bio-Healthcare Cluster, and the 2015 National Nano Convergent Industry Survey and Annual Report of Nano Technology for the Frontier cluster. Empirical results show that the ICT service sector, bio process/equipment sector, and Nano electronic sector promote clustering in other sectors. Based on the analysis results, we discuss several policy implications and strategies that can attract relevant firms for the development of industrial clusters.

  • This study set up a relational model and an assumption concerning how consumer innovativeness could affect the usage motive of digital photos and the usage intention of digital photo printing service, by utilizing the theory of Uses and Gratification(U&G) and Technology Acceptance Model(TAM) so as to cope with the changes in market environment and to construct a new business model. The results fur the study were as below First, innovativeness had a positive effect on convenience, entertaining element and sociality in the relational model of overall innovativeness and usage motive of digital photos. Second, it has been noted that innovativeness had a positive effect on the usage intention of digital photo printing service in the relational model between overall innovativeness and its usage intention. Third, it has been demonstrated that convenience, entertaining element, economic feasibility and sociality had a positive effect on its usage intention in the relational model between overall usage motive of digital photos and the usage intention of digital printing service

  • The objective of this research is to get the lesson of the policy by searching the factors of technology acceptance focused on u-Health system. For the purpose of this research, this study presented the concept of u-Health and literature review associated with technology acceptance. Also, this research analyzed the factors affecting 'acceptance of u-Health system'. As a result of the analysis, the first factor affecting acceptance of u-health system is 'self-efficacy' and the second factor is 'connecting'. These results showed characteristics of the innovative aspects and the 'anytime and anywhere' in the ubiquitous concept. Therefore, considering these factors when developing with the priority of u-health system will be able to increase the likelihood of business revenue.

  • As the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution evolves, not only private companies but also government agencies and institutions in public sector are adopting cloud computing services converged by new information technologies such as IoT, big data, and artificial intelligence to strengthen competitiveness and create new business values. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between innovation characteristics, innovation resistance, and acceptance of innovative technologies from the perspective of cloud computing services in the public sector. In this study, we collected the survey data from 190 employees of IT division in the public sector, and analyzed the causal relationship between innovation characteristics, technostress, innovation resistance, and intention to adopt the cloud computing service that they perceived. As a result of the analysis, we demonstrated that innovation characteristics, technostress have significant effect on innovation resistance and acceptance intention, and that top executive commitment and innovation resistance also have significant effect on acceptance intention. This study provides meaningful practical implications for the staffs preparing for adoption of cloud computing services and the executives who make the final decision in public sector.

  • 블록체인 기술은 '새로운 산업을 만드는 구조'는 아니다. 오히려 과거 인터넷이 도입되면서 사회, 경제 모델 전반이 바뀐 것에 비하면 작은 변화에 가깝다고 할 수 있다. 하지만 블록체인은 높은 보안성과 투명성을 기반으로 기존 산업의 기대 효용을 높여 주고, 다양한 시도를 가능하게 만들어 줄 것이라는 점에서 매우 기대되는 분야이기도 하다. 블록체인은 인터넷 이후의 다른 기술과는 확연히 다르다는 주장을 유심히 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 왜냐하면 블록체인이 인터넷과 우리 사회구조를 어떻게 혁신 시킬 수 있는지, 인터넷 이후의 마케팅 세계가 어떻게 변해왔는지, 소비자는 또 어떻게 변해 왔는지 우리는 쉽게 알 수 있기 때문이다. 이처럼 현재 우리 사회는 "새로운 것을 만들기보다는 효율성과 사회의 신뢰성, 콘텐츠 가치의 투명성을 높여 주는 것이 블록체인의 기술이다"라고 정의할 수 있다. 그렇다면 블록체인 기술의 혁신이 미디어 산업 분야에도 접목되어 새로운 동력으로 작용 할 수 있을 것인가? 이같은 질문과 함께 본 고에서는 블록체인과 콘텐츠 산업, 블록체인과 미디어 서비스 구조, 새로운 서비스 사례 및 기존 스트리밍 서비스, 콘텐츠 제작 및 유통 분야 변화, 그리고 유료 콘텐츠 거래, 디지털 콘텐츠의 효율적인 저작권 관리 분야에서 그 역할과 비중이 어떻게 적용되어 효과가 나타나게 될 것인지에 대해 방송 현업 종사자의 시각에서 살펴보았다. 결국 이러한 신기술을 적극 활용하기 위해서는 블록체인 기술이 갖는 신뢰와 가치라는 근본적인 사항과 미디어업계 종사자들의 긍정적인 인식 변화와 함께 블록체인 미디어 비즈니스 생태계 조성을 위한 연구와 파일럿 적용 등 실험적 여정들이 뒤따라야 할 것이다.

Establishing a Business Model for Social Enterprises in the Fields of Culture, Performance, and the Arts Associated with the Tourism Industry: Gwangju Metropolitan City (관광분야와 연계된 문화·공연·예술 사회적기업 비즈니스모델 구축: 광주광역시를 중심으로)

  • Social enterprise is an organization which use business activities as a means to achieve of social purposes. It has grown sharply since 2007 in Korea. However, now it is time had to pursue qualitative growth through the development of specialized business model. This study aims to identify business components using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) with experts and to develop a tailored business model for social enterprises in the fields of culture, performance, and the arts associated with the tourism based on regional demand within Gwangju. The analysis shows that job creation should be set as the main objectives to create value, and programs that offer hands-on experience with that fields can be the core competency. Cooperation among private corporations, local governments and agencies related to that fields is essential, as are programs provided through on- and off-line platforms. To develop a value proposition, customers must be segmented among a variety of the market participants.

Characteristics and Implications of Sports Content Business of Big Tech Platform Companies : Focusing on Amazon.com (빅테크 플랫폼 기업의 스포츠콘텐츠 사업의 특징과 시사점 : 아마존을 중심으로)

  • This study aims to elucidate the characteristics of big tech platform companies' sports content business in an environment of rapid digital transformation. Specifically, this study examines the market structure of big tech platform companies with a focus on Amazon, revealing the role of sports content within this structure through an analysis of Amazon's sports marketing business and provides an outlook on the sports content business of big tech platform companies. Based on two-sided market platform business models, big tech platform companies incorporate sports content as a strategy to enhance the value of their platforms. Therefore, sports content is used as a tool to enhance the value of their platforms and to consolidate their monopoly position by maximizing profits by increasing the synergy of platform ecosystems such as infrastructure. Amazon acquires popular live sports broadcasting rights on a continental or national basis and supplies them to its platforms, which not only increases the number of new customers and purchasing effects, but also provides IT solution services to sports organizations and teams while planning and supplying various promotional contents, thus creates synergy across Amazon's platforms including its advertising business. Amazon also expands its business opportunities and increases its overall value by supplying live sports contents to Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Prime, providing technical services to various stakeholders through Amazon Web Services, and offering Amazon Marketing Cloud services for analyzing and predicting advertisers' advertising and marketing performance. This gives rise to a new paradigm in the sports marketing business in the digital era, stemming from the difference in market structure between big tech companies based on two-sided market platforms and legacy global companies based on one-sided markets. The core of this new model is a business through the development of various contents based on live sports streaming rights, and sports content marketing will become a major field of sports marketing along with traditional broadcasting rights and sponsorship. Big tech platform global companies such as Amazon, Apple, and Google have the potential to become new global sports marketing companies, and the current sports marketing and advertising companies, as well as teams and leagues, are facing both crises and opportunities.

A Study on the CM at Risk Business Model using Business Model Canvas (비즈니스 모델 캠버스(BMC)를 이용한 시공책임형 CM 비즈니스 모델에 관한 연구)

  • The domestic market of CM at Risk has not been activated yet. It was analyzed duo to the fact that construction owners didn't have confidence in CM at Risk, because of the concerns regarding CM firms reliability, service, specialty, system and feasibility. Therefore, this study analyzed the problems to find the reason for declines in orders through a business diagnosis based on the Business Model Canvas(BMC) and set up the direction of business model improvement with one on one expert interviews. Additionally, we suggested the sub-activities for the business model improvements of CM at Risk service that are divided into 9 building blocks. Through this method, we determined that we would need preceding innovation activities such as good communication with customers, reinforcement of subcontract and excellence in project operations to convert the successful practice and settlement of the CM business model based in BMC. It is expected that the business model suggested from this study would contribute to improvement of CM at Risk competition and the differentiation strategy when compared with other firms. Also, it would be used a basis data to develop CM at Risk business model in the future.

A Case Study of Manufacturing Company's Servitization Process : Hansam's Transition from Furniture Manufacturing to Interior Service (사례 분석을 통한 제조업의 서비스화 : 한샘 가구제조기업에서 인테리어 서비스 회사로의 변환)

  • Currently many companies have realized that producing efficient product does not guarantee the market differentiation. Realizing the problem, those companies are actively pursuing the servitization strategy. However complexities in selecting the right service areas among many choices along with in developing service strategies and organizational structures remain unsolved to many manufacturing companies. This paper is about an exploratory study in which, through in-depth case analysis, we observed how a manufacturing company successfully managed to transform to the service company. Through this study, we have found that successful transformation needs to resolve many conflicting issues such as channels among existing and new sales front, organizational restructuring due to conflicting in evaluation and human resource requirements required for responding to customers in the field. This 'Hansam' case study provides managers with some guidelines as to how to transform to the service company.
