A New Bridgeless PFC Converter With Simple Gate Driving Circuit And High Efficiency for Server Power Application (게이트 구동회로가 간단하고 높은 효율을 가지는 새로운 형태의 브리지리스 PFC 컨버터에 관한 연구)

  • 양방향 스위치를 가지는 Bridgeless PFC 컨버터(BBPFC)는 구조상 복잡한 플로팅 게이트 드라이버를 활용함에도 불구하고 좋은 공통모드 잡음 즉, Common-Mode (CM) 노이즈 특성과 간단한 제어 방법으로 인해 많은 브리지리스 PFC 컨버터 중에서도 고전력 응용분야에서 매우 매력적인 토폴로지이다. 이러한 BBPFC는 도통 경로 상에 위치한 정류 다이오드의 역회복 특성의 상대적인 편차를 활용하여 전력 밀도를 감소시키지 않고도 좋은 공통모드 (CM) 노이즈 특성의 확보가 가능하다. 하지만 이러한 장점을 가지는 BBPFC 구조를 고전력 서버용 전원장치분야에서 활용할 경우, 이미 등록된 특허로 인해 매우 높은 개런티를 지불해야 하므로 그 활용이 매우 제한적이다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 이미 등록된 특허를 회피하고, 동시에 기존 BBPFC 회로가 가지는 단점인 플로팅 게이트 드라이버를 활용하는 단점을 개선하는 새로운 형태의 브리지리스 PFC 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안된 컨버터는 기존 BBPFC가 가지는 장점인 좋은 (CM) 노이즈 특성을 가지며, 동시에 높은 효율을 달성 할 수 있다. 또한 제안된 컨버터의 경우, 복잡한 플로팅 형태의 게이트 드라이버 회로가 아닌 간단한 부트스트랩 회로를 활용하여 회로를 운용할 수 있다. 더불어 제안된 컨버터는 입력의 양과 음의 주기에서 단 하나의 스위치를 사용하여 회로를 구동할 수 있기 때문에 기존회로 대비 적은 손실을 가져 높은 효율의 획득이 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 제안된 구조에 대해 하이라인 $230V_{RMS}$ 입력과 800W / 400V 출력의 조건을 적용하여 제안하는 구조의 효용성을 검증하고자 한다.

Design of a Multi-Protocol Gateway System Based on Low Power Wireless Communications (저전력 무선통신 기반 다중 프로토콜 게이트웨이 시스템 설계)

  • In this paper we propose a multi-protocol gateway system based on low power wireless communications. The proposed multi-protocol gateway system was designed to allow real-time monitoring and control of the on-site situation through wired and wireless networks by gathering information for streetlight power control and environmental monitoring. The sensing data using multi-sensors with composite processing that selectively used wired or wireless communication (e.g., CDMA, Ethernet (TCP/IP), GPS, etc.) were designed to act as intermediaries that transmitted to the main server through ZigBee. Inaddition, they were designed by separating a CPU board and baseboard to ensure low maintenance cost and ease of hardware replacement. The proposed multi-protocol gateway system's power, impact, continuous operation stability, and immunity test results obtained a normal operation success rate of over 95% and normal continuous operation results. Moreover, in the voltage drop test, instantaneous immunity test, and conductive RF electromagnetic field immunity test, it obtained an average rating result of "A".

  • Recently, with the development of display technology, AMOLED(Active Matrix OLED) panel production and demand are increasing. Unlike LCD, AMOLED panel basically does not need backlight, so it can output clear images with low power consumption. Therefore, the AMOLED market is growing globally. Accordingly, the demand for inspection devices required for production is also expanding. The inspection device of the AMOLED panel aging system operates in conjunction with MES(Manufacturing Execution System) and MIS(Management Information System), and it is efficient to construct network environment. The inspection device used for panel aging is a pattern generator capable of outputting multiple signals. Efficient design is required to operate multiple signal generators. To solve this problem, the proposed system proposed a method for remotely controlling the signal generator remotely and a method for driving the AMOLED panel. And the timing and power setting results are presented.

  • In this paper, we propose a wireless network discovery scheme which support effective device power management by employing battery efficient network scanning procedure. Multi-mode terminals need to discover other wireless systems, above all, to execute an inter-system handover in the environment of heterogeneous wireless networks. The existing methods introduced in some recent research reports have certain shortcomings, such as battery power consumption increased by frequent modem activation, or the multi-mode terminal's inability to promptly discover wireless system. We Propose a scheme in which multi-mode terminals more quickly and accurately discover other wireless systems than previous schemes, while consuming minimum power. It also proves that the scheme has better performance by comparing it with the existing schemes.

  • This paper proposes a new Pulse Frequency Modulation(PFM)-Series Boost Capacitor(SBC) full bridge DC/DC Converter which features a high efficiency and high power density. The proposed converter controls the output voltage by varying the voltage across the series boost capacitor according to switching frequency and has no freewheeling period due to 50% fixed duty operation. As a result, its conduction loss is lower than that of the conventional phase shift full bridge converter. Moreover, ZVS of all power switches can be ensured along wide load ranges and output current ripple is very small. Therefore, it has very desirable merits such as a small output inductor, high efficiency, and improved heat generation. This paper performs a rationale and PSIM simulation of the proposed converter. Finally, experimental results from a 1.2kW(12V, 100A) prototype are presented to confirm the operation, validity and features of the proposed converter.

  • Recently, energy resource management is a major concern around the world. Energy management activities minimize environmental impacts of the energy production. This paper presents design and prototyping of a home electric energy monitoring system that provides residential consumers with real time information about their electricity use. The developed system is composed of an in-house sensing system and a server system. The in-home sensing system is a set of wireless smart plug which have an AC power socket, a relay to switch the socket ON/OFF, a CT sensor to sense current of load appliance and a Kmote. The Kmote is a wireless communication interface based on TinyOS. Each sensing node sends its detection signal to a home gateway via wireless link. The home gateway stores the received signals into a remote database. The server system is composed of a database server and a web server, which provides web-based monitoring system to residential consumers. We analyzed and presented energy consumption data from electrical appliances for 3 months in home. The experimental results show the promising possibilities to estimate the energy consumption patterns and the current status.

A Study On Low-cost LPR(License Plate Recognition) System Based On Smart Cam System using Android (안드로이드 기반 스마트 캠 방식의 저가형 자동차 번호판 인식 시스템 구현에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose a low-cost license plate recognition system based on smart cam system using Android. The proposed system consists of a portable device and server. Potable device Hardware consists of ARM Cortex-A9 (S5PV210) processor control unit, a power supply device, wired and wireless communication, input/output unit. We develope Linux kernel and dedicated device driver for WiFi module and camera. The license plate recognition algorithm is consisted of setting candidate plates areas with canny edge detector, extracting license plate number with Labeling, recognizing with template matching, etc. The number that is recognized by the device is transmitted to the remote server via the user mobile phone, and the server re-transfer the vehicle information in the database to the portable device. To verify the utility of the proposed system, user photographs the license plate of any vehicle in the natural environment. Confirming the recognition result, the recognition rate was 95%. The proposed system was suitable for low cost portable license plate recognition device, it enabled the stability of the system when used long time by using the Android operating system.

A New High-Efficient Interleaved Converter for Low-Voltage and High-Current Power Systems (저전압 고전류 사양에 적합한 고효율 인터리브 컨버터)

  • This paper proposes a new high-efficient interleaved phase-shift full-bridge (PSFB) converter for low-voltage and high-current power systems. The proposed converter is composed of three switch-bridges and two transformers in the primary side and two rectifiers in the secondary side. Each transformer handles half of the total power with an interleaved operation, so that the proposed converter has high system reliability, as much as the conventional interleaved PSFB converter. The soft-switching characteristics of the proposed converter are better than those of the conventional converter due to the modulated primary side configuration. The proposed converter represents a single lagging-leg bridge, which has a poor soft switching condition in its operation, while the conventional converter has two lagging-leg bridges in its operation. Therefore, the number of switches having hard-switching conditions is reduced by half in the proposed converter. In addition, the reduced switch counts in the primary side of the proposed converter helps decrease the complexity of the proposed converter compared to that of the conventional converter. The operational principle and analysis are presented in this paper and the characteristics are verified using a PSIM simulation with 3kW server power specification.
