The Influence of Color on Emotional Response to Pictures (색조가 이미지의 내용에 대한 감성적 반응에 미치는 영향)

  • 본 연구에서는 동일한 이미지에서 유도되는 감성적 반응이 색채의 변화에 영향을 받는가에 대하여 살펴보았다. 특히, 이미지의 어의(semantic) 내용에 전형적으로 연상되는 색채와 상반되는 색(보색)이 색조로 적용될 경우, 이미지에 대한 감성적 반응에 변화가 나타나는가에 중점을 두어 진행하였다. 이를 위해 기쁨(Pleasure)과 각성(Arousal)으로 이루어진 감성 축의 각 사분면에 해당하는 감성 이미지들을 International Affective Picture System(IAPS)에서 5장씩 추출하여 이 미지 자극으로 활용하였다. 선택된 이미지는 내용과 전형적으로 연상되는 색, 보색, 그리고 무채색 톤으로 실험에 사용하였으며 각 이미지에 대한 기쁨과 각성에 대한 감성적 반응은 Self Assessment Manikin(SAM)을 활용하여 측정하였다. 실험 결과 이미지의 내용에서 전형적으로 연상되는 색채의 보색이 이미지의 색조로 적용될 경우 감성적 반응이 소극적으로 나타나는 결과가 관찰되었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 인간의 칼랄 인식 특성인 명도, 채도 및 색조의 관계를 학습시킨 신경회로망을 이용하여 열화된 영상의 채도 부분을 향상하는 칼라영상향상법으 제안하였다. 제안한 방법은 우선 표준영상으로부터 여러 단계 열화된 영상들로부터 얻은 다양한 명도, 채도 및 색조의 관계를 신경회로망의 입력으로 하고 표준영상의 채도를 목표차로 해서 신경회로망을 학습시킨다. 그리고 이렇게 학습된 신경회로망에 열화된 영상의 명도, 채도, 색조 그리고 향상시킨 명도를 입력하면 향상된 채도를 얻을 수 있는 칼라영상향상방법이다. 본 논문에서는 제안한 방법이 기존의 칼라영상향상법에서 가장 문제가 되었던 영상 향상 시 칼라범위를 초과하는 문제와 채도 향상비의 인위적 선택문제를 해결하고 채도의 대비를 향상시켜 선명한 영상을 얻을 수 있는 방법임을 밝혔다.

Evaluation of the Color Adjustment Potential of Single-Shade Composite Resin in Primary Teeth (유치에서의 단일 색조 복합레진의 색조 적응력 평가)

  • Restoring composite resins with the optimal shades for all primary teeth is a great challenge for pediatric dentists. A newly developed single-shade composite resin can exhibit a color similar to that of the surrounding tooth structure based on the structural color phenomenon. This study aims to evaluate the color adjustment potential (CAP) of a single-shade composite resin compared to conventional multi-shade composite resins in primary teeth. A single-shade composite resin and two conventional multi-shade composite resins were included in this study. Two types of specimens, a single specimen and a dual specimen, were evaluated. For single specimens, duplications of the primary second molar denture teeth were made using experimental composite resins. For dual specimens, cavities were prepared on the buccal surfaces of extracted primary second molars and restored with experimental composite resins. The L*, a*, and b* values were measured using a colorimeter for the extracted teeth and specimens. The mean ΔEab* values for single and dual specimens and CAP were calculated. Bonferroni post-hoc analysis was performed to confirm the statistical significance between the ΔEab* and CAP values of the experimental resins. Among the single specimens, the single-shade composite resin showed significantly higher ΔESingle compared to other composite resins (p < 0.0167). There was no significant difference between ΔEDual for all experimental resins. The single-shade composite resin showed highest CAP compared to other multi-shade composite resins. A single-shade composite resin exhibited the most prominent color adaptability compared to other conventional multi-shade composite resins for primary second molars. A single-shade composite resin can simplify shade matching and provide esthetic outcomes for the restoration of primary second molars.

Flexural strength and reliability of highly translucent colored zirconia (고반투명 유색 지르코니아의 굽힘강도와 신뢰도에 대한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the flexural strength and reliability of highly translucent colored zirconia for all ceramic restoration. Materials and Methods: Bar-shaped specimens (25 × 4 × 2.5 mm) were prepared from highly translucent monolithic zirconia. Three experimental groups were set up according to color (shade A0, A1, and A3). For each group, 20 specimens were prepared. Flexural strength was determined using a 3-point flexural test and results were analyzed with one-way ANOVA test. Weibull statistical analysis provided 2 parameter estimates: Weibull modulus and characteristic strength. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis was performed. Results: There was statistically significant difference between uncolored (Shade A0) and colored (shade A1 and A3) (P < 0.05), but there was no difference between colored groups (P > 0.05). The uncolored group had higher reliability compared with colored study groups. On x-ray diffraction analysis of each group, typical peaks of tetragonal phase appeared in all groups. Conclusion: Within the limitations of this in vitro study, coloring highly translucent zirconia had significant effect on flexural strength and reliability. Therefore, clinicians should be careful when using highly translucent colored zirconia to prevent breakage of veneering ceramic and enhance aesthetics.

Shade Comparative Analysis of Natural Tooth using Spectrophotometric Methods (분광측정기를 이용한 자연 치아의 색조 비교 분석)

  • This study is to set the objective criteria on maxillary incisors shade selection by using the colorimetric Shade-Eye NCC as measuring in CIE $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$ values, and look into the meaning by analyzing its values. We explain the purpose of this study and gotten their agreement from patients visiting the dentist, 111 people's (men 50, women 61) three teeth, the maxillary central incisor, maxillary lateral incisor, maxillary canines, total of 333 teeth colorimetry. As a result of comparing the differences in colors between cervical margin and incisal edge, ${\Delta}E^*$ of canine is shown as low as $5.81({\pm}2.98)$, followed by lateral incisor of maxilla as $6.51({\pm}3.23)$ and central incisor of maxilla $7.51({\pm}3.04)$. Females show higher luminosity(L*) than males do in all teeth- central incisor, lateral incisor and canine; in yello chroma(b*) males' central incisor is slightly higher than that of females (p<0.05). Age significantly influences the luminosity and red (a*) and yellow chroma (b*) of central incisor(L*); the luminosity(L*), and yellow chroma(b*) of lateral incisor and canine (p<0.05). Smoking doesn't significantly influence the color of natural teeth. Drinking reduces the luminosity of central incisor as well as red chroma of lateral incisor(p<0.05). A chronic illness is likely to reduce the luminosity of central incisor and lateral incisor(p<0.05).

Lu Xun's novel and art of color (노신(魯迅)소설과 색채예술(色彩藝術))

  • Lu Xun was closely bounded with art since he was young, and he had a thorough knowledge of art. This treatise discerned how Lu Xun substituted and expressed his emotion through his work of art, and what was characteristic of his selection and combination of colors. Truly, color is related to statement of human mind. Lu Xun expressed certain color either consciously or unconsciously when he created human figure. The group of black in human figure in his art is representative example of it. Lu Xun always used heavy and dark color to emphasize human figure so that people can assume their lives and character. This artistic mentality or, great choice of art, relates to Lu Xun's individual life and state of mind. However, Lu Xun did not always choose dark color. Sometimes he looked squarely at darkness and tried to pursue bright color presupposing 'hope' at the same time.

THE COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE COLOR OF THE DECIDUOUS TEETH AND RESTORATIVE MATERIALS (유치의 치아색과 수복재의 색조선택에 관한 비교연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyse the color of natural deciduous teeth in Korean children and to compare with that of composite resin specimens. The subjects were 148 children (80 boys and 68 girls) with good general condition and normal teeth color, aged between 3 and 6 years. The color of middle third of maxillary central incisor in deciduous teeth was examined with shade guide and then measured by means of the colorimeter CV300 which can be measured by CIELAB system. The data were analyzed statistically by SPSS program. The results were summerized as follows; 1. Over 90% of the color for the deciduous anterior teeth was in A1, A2, B1, B2 and P shade. 2. The means of deciduous teeth color were $L^*=58.72,\;a^*=-1.18,\;b^*=-0.63$ by colorimeter CV300. 3. $L^*,\;a^*\;and\;b^*$ prices for A1, A2, B1, B2, P were $L^*=52.52,\;a^*=-1.90,\;b^*=1.18$ in A1 specimen, $L^*=54.90,\;a^*=-1.87,\;b^*=1.60$ in A2 specimen, $L^*=59.80,\;a^*=-2.70,\;b^*=-0.63$ in B1 specimen, $L^*=56.90,\;a^*=-1.70,\;b^*=1.63$ in B2 specimen, $L^*=52.93,\;a^*=-2.33,\;b^*=1.10$ in P specimen. The means of B1 color specimen were most similar to those of deciduous teeth color. The A1 color values were similar to the P color values. 4. The standard deviation of $L^*,\;a^*$ was small among colors, but that of $b^*$, in the yellowish color, was large.

A Study on the Effect of Pigments used in Cosmetic Manufacturing on the Form of Water Dispersible Formulations (화장품 제조에 쓰이는 Pigments 가 수분산 제형에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구)

  • Formulations which are dispersed in water are often used in color cosmetics because they are characterized by no powder flying, not sticky, and high adherence while giving a light feeling of use. However, little research has been considered on the effect of the pigment on the above formulations used in color cosmetics. In this study, experiments were conducted to measure and analyze the effect of pigments on the formulation of pigments, organic pigments, and pearl polish, which are mainly used in the manufacture of color cosmetics, on appearance changes, pH changes, and photometric stability. Carmine or ferric ferrocyanide coated titanium dioxide mica-based pigments were not suitable for use due to poor photostability, with colors appearing on the surface from low viscosity formulations. Organic pigments had a good photostability of 1% of the formulation which are dispersed in water, but were not suitable for use because they came out of color on the water surface and did not spread well due to the clumping of powders. The titanium dioxide mica system pigments coated with pearl polish, inorganic pigments, and iron oxide were suitable for use due to their excellent appearance and optical stability in the formulation. Furthermore, the pH of all samples distributed by each pigment seems to be within the range of 3.0 to 9.0, which is suitable for cosmetic applications. This is expected to help manufacture color cosmetics with a stable water dispersible formulations by selecting and using stable pigments in anticipation of the behavior of pigments in the formulations.

A Study on Color Recommendation System for Mobile App -Focused on the Method of Color Recommendation for the Material Design Color System (모바일 앱을 위한 배색 추천 시스템에 관한 연구 -머티리얼 디자인 컬러 시스템의 색채 추천 방법을 중심으로)

  • This study is for the use of color recommendation system for the color combination of mobile application. For this study, color combination methods of a material design color system that recommends harmonized colors automatically and of a mobile web application were applied to a mobile application design and a color combination experiment was carried out. Then for a survey on the experiment using the two methods, color combinations, selected colors and satisfaction with outputs were investigated on a 7-point Likert scale. And color combination characteristics of outputs were compared. It was found that the material design color palette made it easy to select colors by systematizing the regular coloring stages of fixed colors automatically, but there were differences in color compositions and color scopes of dominant color, assort color and accent colors, which are three-color combinations of mobile web application and accent color selection function was required for each design, since only primary colors and secondary colors could be selected. Moreover, chromatic colors were used a lot in the material system because of the fixed color scopes and color combination scopes and images of color combination outcomes varied depending on the color combination scopes, even when tones with a big contrast or complementary colors were selected. The role of color composition was important according to the color combination scopes.
