  • In order to make load balancing, workload information of nodes should be informed to the network. In a load balancing algorithm[13] based on the SBIBD(Symmetric Balanced Incomplete Block Design), each node receives global workload information by only two round message exchange with O (${\upsilon}{\sqrt{\upsilon}}$) traffic overhead, where ${\upsilon}$ is the number of nodes. It is very efficient but works well only when ${\upsilon}=p^2+p+1$ for a prime number p. In this paper, we generate a special incidence structure in order for the algorithm works well for an arbitrary number of nodes. In the experiment with w,($5{\leq}w{\leq}5,000$), nodes and more than 80% of receiving workload information, traffic overhead was less than O ($w{\sqrt{w}})$ and the result for standard deviation of traffic overhead showed that each node has largely balanced amount of traffic overhead.

  • In this study, we developed the CCPP calculating program, which is a kind of index and can determine whether calcium carbonate would precipitate or not in pipe line of water distribution system. Through 9 complicated procedures, CCPP can be calculated. Assuming pH of equilibrium as a first trial, compare the right-hand-side result with left-hand-side result. If the percentage difference between the two results is less than a prescribed tolerance, the initial assumption for the assumed equilibrium pH is adequate. If the difference is too large, make a different assumption and repeat until a result within the prescribed tolerance is achieved. Plugging the intermediate results into the final equation, we could compute the CCPP. Using Fortran and Visual Basic languages, we developed the program. As a result of application of the program, the water quality of intaking water of Han River is highly corrosive by the index of CCPP.

  • The effects of ground water level, shear strength parameters of refuse, and geological condition of ground on the slope stability of uncontrolled waste landfill were studied. The Janbu method of slices based on the limit equilibrium method was used to calculate the minimum factor of safety with respect to slope stability of landfill. The analytical results showed that the factor of safety for a fully dried condition of landfill increased 2.4~2.8 times as great as that for a fully saturated condition of landfill. Under the condition of actual ground water level, the factor of safety linearly increased with increasing both cohesion and internal friction angle of refuse. Also, when the potential failure surface passed through the underlying layer, the factor of safety and shape of potential failure surface were found to depend on geological conditions of underlying layer.

  • The development of strain localization within shear zones is frequently observed during soil deformation. In fact, the phenomenon appears to be more often the norm rather than the exception. Conceptually, any soil condition that renders negative work increment is prone to localization. In this study, a broad range of soil and loading conditions are investigated to test this criterion, including: dilative soil subjected to drained shear (standard case), contractive soil sheared under undrained conditions, cavitation in dilative soil in undrained shear, inhomogeneous soils, particle alignment in contractive soils made of platy particles, soils that experience particle crushing, and the shear of low-moisture and/or lightly cemented loose soils. Unique specimens and test procedures are designed to separately test each of these soil conditions in the laboratory According to experimental test results, soil specimens with post-peak strain softening behavior are prone to progressive failure, localization of deformations, and shear banding. The state of stress, the soil density, inherent mechanical and geometrical properties of soil particles, low water content, and heterogeneity can contribute to triggering strain localization. Considering all possible cases of localization, the best method to obtain the critical state line in the laboratory is to use contractive homogeneous specimens subjected to drained shear.

  • Limit equilibrium analysis and finite difference analysis were used to evaluate slope stability in the in Gohan, Korea, which is affected by large-scale tensile cracks and uplift. There is a thick colluvial layer in the study area and predicting ground behavior is problematic because the presence of clay makes it difficult to determine the strength parameters of the soil. Consequently, a numerical model able to reflect the collapse properties of the site was required that applied the modified boundary layer model and calculated the strength parameters using back analysis. The numerical simulation results that consider the strength parameter one does with the present situation the establishment of the pile is completed, and the simulation is able to asses ground stability in complex terrain in a reliable manner. Also the somewhat it judges with the fact that it will be able to provide the fundamental data which secures the stability of the segment where it is unstable.

  • Most algorithms in computer vision and digital photogrammetry assume that digital stereo pairs are registered in epipolar geometry. But, an aerial stereo pair is not likely to be in epiplar geometry since the attitude of the camera at the instant of exposure is different at every exposure station. In this paper, stereo digital imagery is obtained from aerial stereo pair by scanner. Then procesure to resample the digital imagery to epipolar geometry using exterior orientation elements after absolute orientation is described. As a result, a stereo imagery in epipolar geometry is produced from stereo digital imagery. Epipolar imagery in this paper is applied to the image matching method by digital image correlation technique. Then, a digital elevation model is produced from the result of image matching. The digital elevation model in this paper is compared to the other digital elevation model produced by analytical plotter. As a result, an economical method to generate digital elevation model is presented.

  • This paper is study on performance analysis of modulator using direct digital frequency synthesizer of Initial Clock Accumulating Method. It has been generally used for PLL or digital frequency synthesizing method to be synthesizd randomly chosen frequency state. In order to improve disadvantage of two methods, we constructed modulator system using DDFS of Initial Clock Accumulating Method. We also confirmed the coherence frequency hopping state and possibility of phase control. The results obtained from the experiments are as follows; First, the synthesized output frequency is proportional to the sampling frequency, according to index, K. Second, the difference of the gain between the basic frequency and the harmonic frequencies was more than 50 [dB], that is, this means facts that is reduced the harmonic frequency factor. Third, coherence frequency hopping state is confirmed by PN code sequence. Here, we confirmed the proposed method cut switching time, this verify facts that is the best characteristic of the frequency hopping. We also verified the fact that the phase varies as the adder is operated set or reset.

  • This paper proposes a self organizing RBF neural network equalizer for the equalization of digital communications. It is the most important for the equalizer using the RBF neural network to estimate the RBF centers correctly and quickly, which are the desired channel states. However, the previous RBF equalizers are not used in the actual communication system because of some drawbacks that the number of channel states has to be known in advance and many centers are necessary. Self organizing neural network equalizer proposed in this paper can implement the equalization without prior information regarding the number of channel states because it selects RBF centers among the signals that are transmitted to the equalizer by the new addition and removal criteria. Furthermore, the proposed equalizer has a merit that is able to make a equalization with fewer centers than those of prior one by the course of the training using LMS and clustering algorithm. In the linear, nonlinear and standard telephone channel, the proposed equalizer is compared with the optimal Bayesian equalizer for the BER performance, the symbol decision boundary and the number of centers. As a result of the comparison, we can confirm that the proposed equalizer has almost similar performance with the Bavesian enualizer.

  • In the study, we carried out a 3-D analysis to assess the influence of groundwater level changes on the slope stability, conducting a series of back-numerical analysis to delineate the critical line of the shear strength of the failure surface of a landslide, and a laboratory test to determine the geo-mechanical properties of soil samples. The analysis result shows that the shear strength determined by the laboratory test was distributed below the critical line of shear strength estimated by back-analysis. Differences between driving and resisting force were also analyzed in groundwater conditions of dry and saturation. It appeared that the stress gets greater towards the slope center of the landslide, and the debris mass moves downwards. According to the analysis, the factor of safety becomes 1 with the rise of foundwater level up to -0.85 m from the slope surface, while the slope tends to stay stable during dry seasons.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of rigid end platens on effective stresses in soil mass during consolidation. The friction between the teeth of top cap/base pedestal and the specimen during consolidation decreases the radial and tangential effective stresses in RC specimens. However, it is unpractical to measure the effective stresses in the soil specimen. Two approaches were used to evaluate the state of stress in RC specimens during consolidation. First, careful measurements were made of small strain shear modulus, $G_{max}$ in specimens with carefully controlled void ratios and stress histories, to infer the state of stress. And second, a finite element analysis was performed to analytically evaluate the effect of various soil parameters on the state of stress in RC specimens during consolidation. By combining these experimental and analytical results, an example was performed to predict the average state of stress in RC specimens during consolidation.
