  • This study tried to reveal the relation among the necessary and sufficient conditions of human relation, which is the core concept of human-centered counseling. The relation of these three conditions are quite different according to what we take as the main content of authenticity. If we take congruence as its content, as Rogers did in his early academic years, three conditions are equal in their importance as instruments which counselor can use. But, if we take presence as its content, as Rogers did in his later academic years, authenticity possesses central position while using empathy and unconditional positive regard as its instruments. In this relation, we can say authenticity is a continuous growing process of self realization. And it also can be sad that the three necessary and sufficient conditions compose productive counseling relation inviting both counselor and client to the self realizing process.

For this study, two women who have at least eight year long experience, who work as school counselors and who have the experience of rearing their children during adolescence were selected as research subjects. They were subjected to interview and the following research results were drawn out. School counselors' child rearing experience was composed by focusing on the time, society and place, which are referred to as the Three-dimensional narrative investigation space. School counselors "discerned" that the experience of getting reared by original family exerts effect on children. After counseling study, they wished to "become a sufficiently good rearer" who strives to cultivate ideal parent-child relations by understanding their children after undergoing the phase of "self-reflection and apology" for discipline and forced attitude. Moreover, they were transforming into "genuine counselor" through experience based insight, and this in turn includes the meaning of "I, who function intactly."

  • In the modern society, the awareness of images is affecting the body-related consumer behavior through mass media such as TV and internet, and SNS that has grown explosively with the wide availability of smartphones. As a consequence, the demands for aesthetic treatments by patients who wish to improve their inferiority complex are increasing. Patients who want aesthetic treatments display more active inclinations than those receiving general treatments, and have the expectation for the improvement in images along with the anxiety over potential functional problems and satisfaction about the outcomes. In the consultation of the patient of aesthetic case, the basic starting point is that the surgeon and the patient recognize improvement points that the patient expects through the aesthetic treatment. The consultation starting from the viewpoint of the patient proceeds in a way that the consensus is reached through the medical approach, eventually finding the balance between ideals and naturalness. The consultation process from the initial meeting is established at each stage of treatment, at which the consultation is correctly recorded and shared by the surgeon and the care staff. In addition, the consistent policy is implemented from the initial consultation through to the maintenance care. Together, these will result in the consultation based on the true communications leading to the outcome that satisfies the patient, the surgeon and the care staff, rather than the one that gives the patient an unfounded hope and leads to the unsympathetic outcome. This article introduces the consultation strategy for patients of aesthetic case based on the sympathy with them through cases of aesthetic treatment by type.

  • This study with qualitative research method explores the process of a middle-aged woman who finds and constructs her career path. As a result, career constitution process of a research participant choosing a career to make a living and carrying out what she is supposed to do, turned out to be more than just a job adaptation process in the workforce. Career constitution process is a journey in search of "genuine self" and a existential process in which the existence of self is understood by sustained choices and "actions." The research participant on the life journey of finding career path sought to return to her intrinsic life and practiced self-realization toward possibility. The result of this study suggests that "work" being different from calling needs to be understood anew in the existential perspective. "work" is not only a passage which makes the meaning of life by existential "actoins" but also a existential method heading toward self-realization. Not only that, career path is a process which doesn't get obvious by one choice but is unfolded by shaking between potential energy and possibilities accumulated by here and now decisions and actions. Thus, the researcher of this study suggests that counselling for career path should go beyond the linear task which figures out a person's aptitude, the features of the workforce and connects both. And there is the need for a paradigm shift in totally understanding the client's life and in making the meaning of a work in the process of finding genuine "self".
