Symbolic tree based model for HCC using SNP data (악성간암환자의 유전체자료 심볼릭 나무구조 모형연구)

  • Symbolic data analysis extends the data mining and exploratory data analysis to the knowledge mining, we can suggest the SDA tree model on clinical and genomic data with new knowledge mining SDA approach. Using SDA application for huge genomic SNP data, we can get the correlation the availability of understanding of hidden structure of HCC data could be proved. We can confirm validity of application of SDA to the tree structured progression model and to quantify the clinical lab data and SNP data for early diagnosis of HCC. Our proposed model constructs the representative model for HCC survival time and causal association with their SNP gene data. To fit the simple and easy interpretation tree structured survival model which could reduced from huge clinical and genomic data under the new statistical theory of knowledge mining with SDA.

Physicochemical and Organoleptic Qualities of Sliced-dried Persimmons as Affected by Drying Methods (건조방법을 달리한 감말랭이의 이화학적 및 관능적 품질 특성)

  • The effects of drying methods (hot air, cold air, vacuum, and infrared drying) on physicochemical and organoleptic qualities of sliced-dried persimmons (Diospyros kaki Thumb. cv. Cheungdobansi) were investigated. The weight of the sliceddried persimmons ranged from 9.30 to 12.01 g, the length from 3.55 to 4.06 cm, the width and thickness were from 3.17 to 3.73 cm and 1.82 to 2.04 cm, respectively. Hot air drying resulted in the highest hardness value as well as Hunter's L, a, and b values. Infrared drying showed the lowest L value and vacuum drying revealed the lowest a and b values. Moisture contents of the sliced-dried persimmons ranged from 38.04 to 46.41%, and soluble solid contents were 42.96-$48.44^{\circ}Bx$. The phenolic compounds and DPPH radical scavenging activity were high for infrared and vacuum drying methods, and all the sliced-dried persimmons showed relatively high antioxidant activities. The sensory evaluation results indicated that the organoleptic scores for the overall preference were high in the order of vacuum > infrared > hot air > cold air drying. These results suggest that the drying methods affected the qualities of the sliced-dried persimmons, showing that vacuum drying is the mast effective among the methods tested for manufacturing the high-quality sliced-dried persimmons.

Evaluation of Sweet Potato Cultivars for High Yield and Optimum Processing in Jeonbuk Region (전북지역 적응 다수성 가공용 고구마 적품종 선발)

  • This work was conducted to identify sweet potato [(Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.)] cultivars showing high yield and processing suitability in the Jeonbuk region of Korea. Shoot-slips (30 cm in length) of 14 cultivars were planted with a planting density of $75{\times}25cm$ on May 30, and cultivated with black film mulching. Vine elongation at 30 days after planting was significantly increased (> 90 cm) in 'Dahomi' and 'Sinhwangmi', and was excellent (> 250 cm) 120 days after planting in 'Sinhwangmi', 'Shinyulmi', 'Daeyumi', 'Jinhongmi', and 'Yeonhwangmi'. The branch number per plant showed a dramatic increase in 'Shinzami' 30 and 120 days after planting. The leaf number per plant showed the highest increase in 'Shinzami' 30 days and in 'Sinhwangmi' 120 days after planting. Total weight, mean weight, and number of marketable tubers per plant were significantly higher 150 days after planting than that 120 days after planting. Marketable tuber yield at 120 days was high, over 2.5 ton/10a in 'Daeyumi', 'Dahomi', and 'Jeonmi', and was considerably increased, from 3.2 ton/10a to 3.5 ton/10a, 150 days after planting. Total weight of marketable tubers per plant and marketable tuber yield 120 and 150 days after planting had significant positive correlations with vine length and number of nodes 30 days after planting. Starch value was significantly higher 150 days after planting than that 120 days after planting. 'Daeyumi' and 'Jeonmi' had good growth vigor, high yield, and high starch content; 'Dahomi' also exhibited beneficial traits such as good growth vigor, high yield, and bright orange-colored flesh.

  • In order to fulfill the needs of reliable and economically feasible foundation, engineers should consider not only the working load that can endure extreme conditions but also apprehending precise behavior of continuous dynamic load while designing the foundation of offshore wind power generators. To actualize the foundation, a model pile was made in miniature. Also, calibration chamber was made and a 500mm height of sand-bed was made to perform "static lateral load experiment" and "repetitive loading experiment", total of two Lateral load tests. As a result, in Static Lateral load test, the bigger length/diameter of model pile led an increase in load displacement. However, when performing "Cyclic Lateral load test", the increase in number of under loading led the decrease in horizontal displacement from each repeated lateral load. While performing Static Lateral load test and repeated loading experiment, we could observe the decreasing in the rate of ultimate lateral load capacity increase of the pile. Also, it turned out that the higher relative density of the ground, the lower ultimate lateral load capacity by repeated horizontal loading.

Experimental Study on Mechanism Analysis of Headcut Erosion in the Noncohesive Sediment Bed (비점착성 하상에서의 두부침식 메커니즘 분석에 관한 실험 연구)

  • The headcut erosion at the confluence section of a mainstream and tributary can migrate up the tributary streams, and rapid degradation can threaten the stability of hydraulic structures installed in the channel. Therefore, quantitative analysis for the development and mechanism of headcut erosion is needed to prevent damage due to the headcut. In this study, hydraulic experiments for headcut erosion in the channel with noncohesive materials were performed and the knickpoint movement and final bed slope change were analyzed based on the different hydraulic conditions. As a result, the knickpoint movement was 1.5 times faster when the difference in velocity between the upstream and downstream sections was 2.5 times greater and the central part of the cross-section was eroded and collapsed earlier than the left and right sides. The movement length of headcut erosion was longer and the final bed slope was milder as the velocity difference between the upstream and downstream sections was increased. This study showed that a correlation between the knickpoint movement and bed slope change by headcut erosion and the water level difference of upstream and downstream sections was not constant compared to the velocity difference.

Effects of Additives on Soil Washing Efficiency for Mixed Surfactants (혼합 계면활성제에 적용된 각종 첨가제가 토양세척 효율에 미치는 영향)

  • To enhance the washing efficiency of soil polluted by hydrophobic organic compounds, the effects of electrolytes and monomeric organic additives on micelle formation and washing efficiency of mixed surfactant solutions were investigated in this study. The surface tensions and critical micelle concentrations(CMCs) of the single and mixed surfactant solutions[$POE_5$/SDS] supplemented by NaCl were measured to investigate the effects on washing efficiency, and the composition ratios of surfactants and NaCl were optimized for the efficient soil washing system. As the mixing ratio of $POE_5$/SDS was increased to 80%, the mixed surfactant with 0.01M NaCl showed more proportional increase of washing efficiency than the mixed surfactant without any salts. The 3% solution of $POE_5$ and SDS(80%/2o%) with 0.01M NaCl showed the washing efficiency of 90%. However, the washing efficiency was not enhanced by NaCl addition to the single surfactant solution of $POE_5$. The CMC of SDS(0.049%) was higher than that of $POE_5$(0.016%), but the CMCs of mixed surfactants were decreased as the mixing ratio of $POE_5$ was increased. Alcohols having longer chain and branched carbon chain were found to be desirable for the soil washing additives.

A Study for Scour Formulas Reviewing in Small Stream Watershed (소하천유역에서 교량세굴 검토 시 적용 가능한 세굴산정공식 비교)

  • 우리나라는 산악지역이 국토의 대부분을 차지하고 있어 전체유역을 놓고 볼 때 대하천이 차지하는 부분보다는 중소하천이 차지하는 부분이 상대적으로 크고, 교량의 길이가 짧은 소교량이 수적으로 많은 부분을 차지하고 있다. 그중에서도 특히 중소하천의 유량은 시간적으로 매우 빠르게 변화하며 유속 또한 급속히 빨라져 하상의 변형이 순식간에 일어나고 있다. 이와 같은 시간적, 공간적인 호우특성과 지형특성으로 인하여 중소하천에 위치한 교량은 특히 세굴에 매우 취약함을 보여주고 있다. 하천에 건설되는 교량의 수명이나 안정성에 세굴이 미치는 영향은 매우 크며, 특히 우리나라와 같이 홍수 시 단기간에 걸쳐 유량이 급증하는 경우 유속에 의한 교량 기초의 급격한 세굴은 예상치 못한 교량 붕괴 사고를 초래할 수 있다. 현재 국내 소하천에 설치된 교량은 약 3,470개소(지방도 기준)로 다양한 하부구조로 설계되어 있다. 이렇게 하천 내에 세워진 교량과 같은 횡단 구조물들은 그 크기에 상관없이 하천의 형태에 영향을 미치게 된다. 그중에서 교량 세굴은 하천 횡단구조물로 인하여 발생되는 가장 중요한 문제 중의 하나로써 교량 건설 시 교각에 영향을 주는 세굴을 예측하고 방어하기 위하여 다양한 방정식을 통하여 신설교량의 교각세굴을 예측한다. 하지만 대부분의 교량 세굴 공식들은 실험실에서의 실험 결과를 토대로 개발되었기 때문에 이들 공식들이 산정한 국소 세굴량이 얼마나 정확한지는 실제 현장 관측 자료와의 비교를 통해서만 검증할 수 있다. 세굴 공식들의 산정 결과를 현장 실측자료와 비교하는 연구는 그 동안 다양하게 시도되었으나, 통일된 결론에는 도달하지 못하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 세굴깊이 산정 시 일반적으로 사용되어지고 있는 세굴공식들 중 소하천 교량 규모에 적용 가능한 공식들을 선별하고, 각 세굴심 추정공식에 속한 변수별 특성분석을 위하여, 5가지의 독립변수를 설정하여 국부세굴의 현장 측정값과 예측공식의 비교결과에 대하여 불일치율을 비교분석하였다. 그 결과, 모든 공식들의 불일치율의 기하 평균이 1보다 큰 것을 보여주고 있다. 즉, 모든 공식들이 과대 추정의 의미로 정확성면에서 우수한 공식들은 불일치율의 기하 평균이 1에 가깝고 기하 표준편차가 작은 공식들이 나타났으며, 이런 점에서 Froehlich 공식, Inglis-Poona II, Blench-Inglis I, Breusers 공식 등의 기하평균이 1에 가장 근접한 결과를 나타내었다. 각 세굴공식 세굴심 산정결과의 불일치율을 각각 5가지의 변수별로 도시하여 분석하였으며, 그 결과로 소하천에 대하여 적용 가능한 공식과 소하천에 적용 시에는 과다추정의 우려가 있는 공식으로 분류되어 면밀한 검토가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

Numerical study on flow characteristics at dividing open-channel with changing bifurcation angle using TELEMAC-2D (TELEMAC-2D모형을 이용한 분류각 변화에 따른 개수로 흐름특성변화 수치모의 연구)

  • This study investigates changes of bifurcation discharge ratio, flow velocity distributions and characteristics of separation zone due to variation of bifurcation angle by using TELEMAC-2D model. When the bifurcation angle is reduced from 90° to 45° without changing the boundary conditions, the bifurcation discharge ratio increased by 1.5 times from 0.523 to 0.785 because of increasing the radius of curvatures, the inertia force of the downstream flow, and the pressure gradient by the downstream boundary conditions. The bifurcation discharge ratio increases non-linearly whenever the bifurcation angle decreases by 15° intervals from 90° to 45° in flow with the upstream Froude number of 0.45 to 0.74. In flow with a maximum Froude number of 0.74, the rate of increase for bifurcation discharge ratio is 31.1% and the minimum value. When the Froude number is 0.58, the bifurcation discharge ratio is 0.7 or less, and the maximum rate of increase for that ratio is 53.5%. As the upstream Froude number decreases less than 0.58, the bifurcation discharge ratio exceeds 0.7, and the rate of increase decreases. When the upstream Froude number is 0.4 higher, the dimensionless width and length changing ratio of the separation zone are about 2.56 and 5.5 times higher than in 0.4 or less.

Leak Location Detection of Underground Water Pipes using Acoustic Emission and Acceleration Signals (음향방출 및 가속도 신호를 이용한 지하매설 상수도배관의 누수지점 탐지연구)

  • Leaks in underground pipelines can cause social, environmental and economical problems. One of relevant countermeasures against leaks is to find and repair of leak points of the pipes. Leak noise is a good source to identify the location of leak points of the pipelines. Although there have been several methods to detect the leak location with leak noise, such as listening rods, hydrophones or ground microphones, they have not been so efficient tools. In this paper, acoustic emission (AE) sensors and accelermeters are used to detect leak locations which could provide all easier and move efficient method. Filtering, signal processing and algorithm of raw input data from sensors for the detection of leak location are described. A 120m-long pipeline system for experiment is installed and the results with the system show that the algorithm with the AE sensors and accelerometers offers accurate pinpointing of leaks. Theoretical analysis of sound wave propagation speed of water in underground pipes, which is critically important in leak locating, is also described.

Length-weight Relationship and Condition Factor of Zacco platypus in the Lake Hoengseong (횡성호에 분포하는 피라미 (Pale chub: Zacco platypus) 개체군의 Length-weight Relationship 및 Condition Factor)

  • The dynamics of Zacco platypus population of upstream and downstream in the lake Hoengseong, Korea were investigated from April to October 2005. Length-weight relationship, condition factor (K) and relative condition factor $(K_n)$ of Z. platypus were compared by the study stations. The equations based on length-weight relationship in the lake Hoengseong were $Log(T_w)=-2.2s+3.18{\cdot}Log(T_L)\;(r^2=0.99)$. The result in comparison of variations of Z. platypus populations, in lake was more remain to better than in upstream and downstream them. Also the b value, assessed by Length-weight relationship in lake was 3.36, in upstream and downstream were 3.09, 3.15, respectively indicating the fish in lake better than stream. The slopes of population condition controlled by K factor also showed positive relationship. It was higher in lake environment than in stream sample, reflecting that population of Z. platypus distributed in lake Hoengseong was favorable and stable condition. The lake environment seems to be providing more favorable condition for Z. platypus population.
