  • The present research is aimed at to examine the relationships between wisdom and age, also between wisdom and its psychological adaptation among middle and elder adults in Korea. Moreover, using data on 240 middle-aged and elder adults, the relationship between different aspects of wisdom and aging well were not only examined, but also explored age differences of wisdom through adulthood. The major findings from the study are summarized as follows. first, the wisdom scores of middle-aged and elder adults were significantly higher than those of young adults. While 'cognitive competency' and 'positive life attitude' factors had no significant differences. It means that 'cognitive competency' and 'positive life attitude' wisdom could be stable across adulthood. However, 'moderation and balance' and 'sympathetic interpersonal relationship' wisdom of elders were significantly higher than those of young adults. second, in middle and elder adults, Wisdom was found to be positively related with life satisfaction, well-being, death acceptance, experiences of positive emotion, generativity, ego integration, and positive life review. while on the other hand, contrast wisdom to be negatively related with depression, fear of death, perceived stress and experiences of negative emotion. The results from the study were examined by ecological validity of wisdom. Accordingly, a number of limitations and implications of the research were acknowledged.

  • The purpose of this paper is to explore what roles can and should regional culture play in establishing a regional innovation system, which has been recently described as an essential factor for balanced regional development and specialized regional development. In doing so, we first investigated key concepts and discourses regarding regional innovation system and examined the success factors of a regional innovation system. We also explored how the Korean policy makers have developed the nation's regional innovation policy and regional cultural policy in order to understand the policy context and its limitations. After examining the theoretical background, we reviewed the representative cases of regional innovation in Japan, Yufuin and Yubari, to grasp the way in which 'culture' plays its roles in the formation of the regional innovation system. Since culture has a role as a unique sector, such as art and content industry, as well as a community's style of life, this study tried to explore the aspects and ways of how culture can contribute to the establishment of regional innovation systems considering these distinctive levels. In drawing the implications of the case study, we found that special attention is required for the 'process of formation' of regional innovation systems. We also confirmed that the success of the core activities at each stage heavily relies on the culture of the region; in order to fully understand the relations, it is necessary to re-establish the existing concept of culture and cultural policy with a more holistic perspective.

  • This study was conducted to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of Multifactorial Fall Prevention Program (MFPP) for local low-income elderly people on physical·psychological, and home environmental hazards, and falling frequency. The selected elderly people was provided the MFPP during an eight-week period of time, once a week, 70 to 90 minutes per each section. The design of this study was non-equivalent control-group with repeated measuring by quasi-experimental study. Data were collected before treatment, 8 week after treatment and 4 week after retention from July to October, 2010. Data were analyzed with numbers, percentage, Fisher's exact test, x2-test, repeated measures ANOVA, ANCOVA and Logistic regression. There were significant differences in fall frequency, balance, fear of falling, fall efficacy, home environmental hazards between the experimental group (EG) and control group (CG). This study showed that the multifactorial fall prevention program(MFPP) was useful nursing intervention for strengthening physical·psychological and environmental functions of the low-income elderly people, as well as preventing fall.

  • Major business journals have been annually announced '100 best companies to work for'. These companies have some characteristics having not only high organization performance but also various benefit programs such as job satisfaction, organization commitment, work-family balance and positive psychology. When people have job satisfaction, organization commitment, and happiness, it will increase the positive psychology of people. Therefore, in this study, we examined the moderating effect of work-family facilitation between occupational well-being and innovative behavior. For the empirical analysis, the survey was executed on employees of 11 companies in IT, Service, and Manufacturing business field. The analysis result is as follows. First, occupational well-being gives positive(+) influence on innovative behavior. Second, the control effect of work-family facilitation in the relationship between occupational well-being and innovative behavior was significant according to statistics. The conclusion states the implications and limitations of this study, and suggests directions on future studies.

  • Previous research on work and life balance mainly focused on workers' passive acceptance of interferences rather than active management of them. However, workers can also actively manage boundaries to enhance work and life balance. To find ways to enhance work and life balance, especially in the context of Smart Work, factors having effects on the work/nonwork interferences and their relationships should be firstly investigated. The results show that in a work domain, both boundary strength at work and job autonomy negatively influence on the nonwork to work interferences; in a nonwork domain, both boundary strength at nonwork and autonomy have negative effects on the work to nonwork interferences.

  • While increasing the convenience of life is a high population BMI (Body Mass Index) is increasing rapidly. Accordingly, the development of the monitoring system to manage and prevent obesity is the time that is required. But most of the monitoring system, the less information it receives management and show to have only simple information calculated this was a low efficiency problem. Also Users with normal and disease Management accuracy is low. In this paper shows the user in a graph of Body Mass Index, BMR (Basal metabolic rate) divided by grade increased accuracy for users to manage their own. Also represented by recovery with exercise machines you used, select a balanced movement mechanism, expressed as a Kcal consumption. If the graph recent data show only increased the visibility. We developed an efficient web-based monitoring system for design a exercise plan.

  • This article was aimed to investigate the effects of 'values related to work-family balance' on work-family conflict and facilitation. Participants were 311 married working women, who were in the thirties fifties. The major findings of this study were as follows. First, work-orientation and extrinsic work value had significant positive influence on work-family conflict. Second, in addition that both of work-orientation and family-orientation had positive effect on work-family facilitation, it was revealed that family-orientation showed moderating effect on work-orientation and work-family facilitation. Third, the variance of independent variables on work-family facilitation was twice as much as on work-family conflict. These results indicated that 'values related to work-family balance' were important factors as well as were worthy of notice when it comes to work-family facilitation.

  • Convergence-based Smart Work in Korea started from 2010 with a purpose to improve work-life balance. Up to now the previous research on Smart Work has been studied in the context of the pre-adoption or the adoption stage, and shows some limitations not finding out the effort to manage change, the issues occurred in the process of adopting Smart Work, and the performance after adopting Smart Work. The period after adoption is when users continue to use ICT and intended objectives can be accomplished. Therefore, this study investigated the process that the organizations adopting Smart Work have overcome spatial and temporal constraints and the performance that they have achieved after adopting it. Though the framework integrating time-geography theory with technology acceptance stage, this research interviewed four managers of three organizations being responsible for adopting and operating Smart Work and provided its adopting process and performance of each organization.

  • Along with the fast development of "smart"information technology including smart phones, a concern for increased productivity and better work-life balance is growing faster than ever. In many cases, the expectations for "smart work"remain only superficial at most, and the theoretical foundation for smart work research, much less with clear definitions, is not based on sound research. This article primarily aims to clarify the differences between the concept of telework and that of smart work. Particularly, a research framework for smart work, reflecting the points of differentiation for smart work on the basis of previous telework research framework is suggested. Then, we go further to discuss the limitations of existing telework research to suggest new research agenda for smart work research, and review current smart work policy being executed by the Korean government to suggest directions for the future. We expect to make academic contributions to the advancement of smart work research in the IS research field as well as provide practical insights for local policy planners.
