Results: The effect of marital role quality on self-esteem and the effect of parental role quality on health were not significant. Modification model fitted with the collected data very well. as evidenced by the small chi-square(0.58), the very high goodness-of-fit(GFI = 1.00), and adjusted goodness-of-fit (AGFI = 0.99), and very small root mean square residual(RMSR=0.0072), and the slope of Q-plot is over 1. 41% of the variance in self-esteem and 21% of the variance in health were accounted for by these variables. • This study aims to empirically identify how the antecedents of seafarers' social identity(i.e., socialization, social support, perceived organizational support, status in organization) affect turnover intention via social identity. In order to achieve this objective, this study conducted covariance structure analysis on the questionnaire data collected from 362 seafarers. The main results are as follows: First of all, as social identity of seafarers increases, their turnover intention decreases. Secondly, as socialization, social support, and perceived organizational support increases, seafarers' social identity also increases. Finally, while socialization and social support decrease turnover intention only through social identity, perceived organizational support decreases turnover intention both directly and indirectly via social identity.

  • Even though research on heritage interpretation has been conducted steadily since the mid-20th century, the actual concept of such interpretation has not been clear. In The ICOMOS Charter for the Interpretation and Presentation of Cultural Heritage Sites, which is a leading international standard of heritage management, the definition of heritage interpretation is still vague. Also, defining its concept is tricky because it is based on the 'situation,' which could change at any moment. Therefore it seems that previous research has focused only on the social function of heritage interpretation. Since socio-philosophy research has become increasingly crucial in heritage studies, the concept of heritage interpretation needs to be precise. Therefore, this paper looks at research history chronologically, divides its social role into two different branches, and finally reifies the definition of the concept. Two social values of heritage interpretation can be distinguished as 'modern heritage interpretation,' and 'inclusive interpretation.' Modern heritage interpretation directs studies into conveying heritage's value to the public as measured by a few experts. It is an educational and communicative role. Inclusive heritage interpretation focuses on seeking comprehensive recognition of diverse values and finds ways to promote reconciliation among multiple stakeholders of heritage. Even though these two functions have developed in different social backgrounds, it is apparent that both have been generated in an unclear, overlapping, and complicated context. The concept of heritage interpretation is too complex to simplify as 'interpretation' itself. This paper defines such interpretation as 'all activities involved in the process of value creation of heritage.' Two social values relate to the concept of 'interpretation': they all have a common recognition of fundamental characteristics of heritage. This is used to establish a collective identity in society. However, it is more appropriate to conceptualize inclusive heritage interpretation as 're-interpretation' because it denies modern heritage interpretation and identifies new negotiated value.

  • The aim of this study is to expand and deepen our knowledge of Braille libraries in Japan. This study begins with a different viewpoint than previous ones. It does not view Braille libraries solely from the institutions themselves but it locates them within the historical context of Japanese society and both Braille and public libraries. It finds that although Braille and public libraries began with similar purposes, they drastically diverged after 1949 when the former’s welfare center-like function for the blind became more apparent. But by the 1970s, Braille libraries shifted in the direction of its original library function at the impetus of the Blind Reading Rights Movement.

  • The present study aims at investigating the effects of the Korean language ability, social support and acculturative stress of migrant laborers on hope and life satisfaction. The results of structural equation model showed that the social support and acculturative stress of migrant laborers influences life satisfaction through hope. The Korean ability of these laborers was intermediate level where they performed well in reading while they showed low performance in speaking and listening. The results of the study are as follows. First, hope mediates the effects of Korean ability on life satisfaction and does the effects of social support and acculturative stress on life satisfaction. Second the results that the better they hope the bigger life satisfaction gets implied that hope is the immediate cause of life satisfaction. Third, for their hope, we should provide not only language education but also opportunities for the perception that the role of family and neighbors is important. It is also necessary to facilitate active movements with the local community so that the migrant laborers take part in roles as members of society. Further we need to operate lifelong education programs for helping the migrant labores to adapt their lives in Korea.
