To obtain the 3-D coordinates of the urban roads from aerial images, the accurate matching technique in road areas is required. In this paper, we suggest the relational matching method that is performed by comparison of relationships of road pavement markings after they are extracted from aerial images using geometric properties and spatial relationships of the pavement markings. Relational matching requires not only high level description of features but also the solution for inexact matching problems. In addition, it needs a lot of tests for the reliable final result. In this research, we described features as calculating geometric properties of the pavement markings, suggested the solution for inextact matching problems, and performed tests to decide whether the result is acceptable or not, which use the property that road areas are flat. In order to evaluate the accuracy of matching, we made a visual evaluation and compared the result of this technique with those measured by analytical photogrammetry.

Because mountain area covers a large proportion of entire country, the forest fire have been an important matter in disaster prevention in Korea. Estimation of damaged area after forest fire would be very important because it would be the basis to make budget or to calculate quantities in the restoration plan for the damaged area. In Korea, the damaged area from forest fire is generally surveyed using GPS. In practice, however, the estimation of damaged area from forest fire have been inaccurate in lots of case due to some problems. Korea Forest Service which is taking charge of prevention of forest fire in Korea is managing a large number of helicopters for forest service on the whole country. So, it would be possible to take snapshots of the damaged area after forest fire from the helicopter using a digital camera. This study aims to establish a suitable method to estimate damaged area after forest fire using snapshots which are taken in the air using a digital camera. So, several approaches were implemented and compared. In future, results of this study could be used in a development of a system for investigation of damages from forest fire using digital photographs.
This paper is a report on the real aspects of Darigut that was performed in Pyungyang in 1955. The data on 1955 Darigut that is kept in a publishing company through a complicated process contains sound source, records of shamanic songs, and various photo data so it is highly valuable. The Darigut that was eventually known to the world through the performance in Seoul in 1981 is meaningful in itself, but it will have a more solid identity through the comparison with the data on the Darigut of 1955. This paper presented the form in which the data on Pyungyang Darigut remains and deduced the original form of Darigut through the comparison with Seoul Darigut. It is expected that this data will be widely publicized and contribute to the study on Korea's shamanism.
The cost of deploying Geological and Environmental information gathering systems, especially when such systems obtain remote sensing and photographic data through the use of commercial satellites and aircraft. Besides the high cost equipment required, adverse weather conditions can further restrict a researcher's ability to collect data anywhere and anytime. To mitigate this problem, we have developed a compact, multi-spectral automatic Aerial photographic system. This system's Multi-spectral camera is capable of the visible (RGB) and infrared (NIR) bands (3032*2008 pixel). It consists of a thermal infrared camera and automatic balance control, and can be managed by a palm-top computer. Other features includes a camera gimbal system, GPS receiver, weather sensor among others. We have evaluated the efficiency of this system in several field tests at the following locations: Kyongsang-bukdo beach, Nakdong river (at each site of mulkeum-namji and koryung-gumi), and Kyungahn River. Its tested ability in aerial photography, weather data, as well as GPS data acquisition demonstrates its flexibility as a tool for environmental data monitoring.

Borimsa Temple in Jangheung, one of the Goosanseonmoon of Shilla Dynasty, calls for a study in the field of landscape architecture because it has very significant elements in cultural and ecological landscaping aspects. This study examined the changes in landscaping elements of Borimsa Temple since the 17th century in order to newly recognize cultural landscaping value of space composition elements for traditional temple and to verify landscape architectural position. For research method, literatures such as Sajeonggi (事蹟記), Joongchanggi, a surveyed map by Fujishima Gaijiro in 1928 and Joseon Gojeogdobo (朝鮮古蹟圖譜) and modern documents including Borimsa Temple Precision Ground Survey Report and photographic records of National Archives of Korea and provincial governments were examined together with a field survey in order to trace changes in landscape elements such as buildings within the temple site, pond and temple forest. The results are as the following: First, for geographical locations of Borimsa Temple, it is located in an auspicious location and Shipyuknahansang and Cheonbul were placed in a supplementary purpose according to the contents of Bojoseonsatapbi. Compared to Namhwaseonsa Temple in China, it has a similar environmental composition but the fact that buildings were placed on platforms is a distinctive difference. Second, architectural landscape of Borimsa Temple went through the Japanese colonial era and Korean War and still going through changes today. Thus, there shall be some appropriate measures such as to establish an archive of past landscape data. Third, the contents of Borimsa Temple Sajeonggi suggests that the pond of Borimsa Temple had been in a indeterminate form with stones on the outer edge. Its name could have been Yongcheon (湧泉) according to the contents of Joongchanggi. Also, the current landscape, in comparison with past photographs, is a result of changes from surface raise occurred by ground reinforcement within the temple site. Fourth, Jangsaengpyoju (長生標柱) mentioned in Bojoseonsatapbi and Borimsa Temple Sajeonggi was thought to be the dried juniper tree in front of Daewoongbojeon, which can be found in past photographic documents but, it is now assumed to be Seokbihyeong (石碑形) considering the Gukjangsaeng and Hwangjangsaeng of Dogapsa Temple of the similar time period. Moreover, Hongsalmoon mentioned in Joongchanggi was established by King's order after the Manchu war of 1636 in praising of Buddhist monks those who had volunteered to fight for the country. Fifth, it is apparent in Borimsa Temple Joongchanggi that geomancy was a consideration in landscaping process of Borimsa Temple, and the record indicates that pine trees, bo trees and persimmon trees were planted. Sixth, tea tree forest was verified of its historical root that is Seongchailyeo from Unified Shilla through passing down of Jeong Yak-yong's Goojeunggoopo method and relevant documents of Seon Master Choui and Yi Yu-won. Seventh, nutmeg tree forest suggests that nutmegs were used in national ceremonies and for medical uses. The nutmeg tree forest was also verified of its role as Naehwasoorimdae (a forest built to prevent fire from spreading) through aerial photographs and placement of a forest reserve.
This study was carried out to estimate the Korean Pine stand structure such as coefficient of variation of mean DBH, number of trees and volume per ha by Weibull distribution for each age class from I to V, based on photo measurement and timber cursing in Kangwon National University Experimental Forests. The results were summarized as follows: 1) Coefficient of variation of mean DBH for each age class from I to V, which was obtained by converting DBH estimated from crown diameter by photo measurement into quadratic mean DBH, was estimated as 28.88%, 24.13%, 23.29%, 20.27%, and 18.79%, respectively. 2) Number of trees per ha of each age class by Weibull distribution was obtained as 2875, 2100, 1875, 800, and 325, respectively. 3) Volume per ha of each age class was estimated as $22.9m^3$, $66.8m^3$, $101.3m^3$, $209.6m^3$, and $266.8m^3$, respectively. 4) Therefore, aerial photographs will be helpful to estimate the stand structure effectively.

Purpose: This study aims to investigate if 2D analysis method is applicable to analysis of CBCT by comparing measuring points of CBCT with those of Adjusted 2D Lateral Cephalogram (Adj-Ceph) with magnification adjusted to 100% and finding out at which landmarks the difference in position appear. Materials and methods: CBCT data and Adj-Ceph (100% magnification) data from 50 adult patients have been extracted as research objects, and the horizontal (Y axis) and vertical (Z axis) coordinates of landmarks were compared. Landmarks have been categorized into 4 groups by the position and whether they are bilaterally overlapped. Paired t-test was used to compare differences between Adj-Ceph and CBCT. Results: Significant difference was found at 11 landmarks including Group B (S, Ar, Ba, PNS), Group C (Po, Or, Hinge axis, Go) and Group D (U1RP, U6CP, L6CP) in the horizontal (Y) axis while all the landmarks in vertical (Z) axis showed significant difference (P<.05). As a result of landmark difference analysis, a meaningful difference with more than 1 mm at 13 landmarks were indentifed in the horizontal axis. In the vertical axis, significant difference over 1 mm was detected from every landmark except Sella. Conclusion: Using the conventional lateral cephalometric measurements on CBCT is insufficient. A new 3D analysis or a modified 2D analysis adjusted on 19 landmarks of the vertical axis and 13 of the horizontal axis are needed when implementing CBCT diagnosis.
Stereophotogrammetry is a method to extract information of an interested area by constructing a stereo-image from two or more photos. In this study, the stereophotogrammetry was adopted to obtain the joint orientation and trace length from a sampling window and its measurements were compared with the result by a clinocompass and measuring tape to evaluate the applicability of the stereophotogrammetry to rock joint survey. A commercial stereophotogrammetry program, ShapeMetriX 3D, was used for this purpose. Firstly, the accuracy of the measuring method using ShpaeMetrix 3D was evaluated by a model test. Secondly, joint orientations on a rock slope and tunnel were obtained by using ShapeMetriX 3D and compared with the measurement by a clinocompass. Finally. the effect of base-depth ratio in photographing was evaluated by comparing images with various base-depth ratios, and the usefulness of closed-up photographing on a rock exposure to increase the measurement accuracy was tested. The dip and dip direction of each model plane obtained by ShapeMetriX 3D showed an error ranged between $-5^{\circ}\;and\; 5^{\circ}$ on the basis of the results by the measuring tape. Base-depth ratio proved not to influence the analysis result by ShapeMetriX 3D if all the images were taken without any hidden area. The close-up photographing turned out useful to obtain the detailed images and therefore precise result when ShapeMetriX 3D was adopted.
This study evaluates the applicability of determining cadastral surveying results using drone photogrammetry during the phase of determining cadastral surveying results, which is the most important stage of cadastral surveying, but known to be hardly objective and highly probable in causing a subjective misjudgment or mistake made by a surveyor. In the experiment to analyze the accuracy of boundary point extraction from drone photogrammetry results, by comparing the coordinate area of 22 parcels extracted from 2D and 3D images with the coordinate area measured from ground survey, the difference could be quantified as RMSE of 1.44m2 for 2D and 0.32m2 for 3D images. In addition, experiments to evaluate the determination of cadastral surveying result based on drone photogrammetry survey showed the RMSE measure of 0.346m towards N direction and 0.296m towards Y direction in comparison to the existing surveying results through data investigation. Based on these experiments, it is judged that cadastral surveying result based on drone photogrammetry can be determined without needing to conduct a location survey with an accuracy of approximately 0.3m in the graphical area, which also leads to possibility of reducing individual errors if drones images are used along with ground survey by objectifying the process of cadastral surveying results.
