Anomaly Detection Analysis using Repository based on Inverted Index (역방향 인덱스 기반의 저장소를 이용한 이상 탐지 분석)

  • With the emergence of the new service industry due to the development of information and communication technology, cyber space risks such as personal information infringement and industrial confidentiality leakage have diversified, and the security problem has emerged as a critical issue. In this paper, we propose a behavior-based anomaly detection method that is suitable for real-time and large-volume data analysis technology. We show that the proposed detection method is superior to existing signature security countermeasures that are based on large-capacity user log data according to in-company personal information abuse and internal information leakage. As the proposed behavior-based anomaly detection method requires a technique for processing large amounts of data, a real-time search engine is used, called Elasticsearch, which is based on an inverted index. In addition, statistical based frequency analysis and preprocessing were performed for data analysis, and the DBSCAN algorithm, which is a density based clustering method, was applied to classify abnormal data with an example for easy analysis through visualization. Unlike the existing anomaly detection system, the proposed behavior-based anomaly detection technique is promising as it enables anomaly detection analysis without the need to set the threshold value separately, and was proposed from a statistical perspective.

  • Blockchain technology can provide a high level security based on a decentralized distributed ledger and consensus-based structure. In order to increase the utilization of blockchain technology, it is necessary to find a way to use it in fields that require personal data processing such as health care and e-commerce. To achieve this goal, the blockchain based system should be able to comply with data privacy regulations represented by European Union(EU)'s GDPR(General Data Protection Regulation). However, because of the properties of the blockchain like the immutability and decentralized recorded data, it is difficult to technically implement the requirements of the existing privacy regulations on the blockchain. In this paper, we propose a multi-chain based access control system that can guarantee the rights of the personal data subject required by GDPR by utilizing Chameleon Hash and Attribute Based Encryption (ABE). Finally, we will show through security analysis that our system can handle personal data while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.

  • Information systems are today becoming larger and mostly broadband-networked. This exposes them at a higher risk of intrusions and hacking than ever before. Of the technologies developed to meet information system security needs, risk analysis is currently one of the most actively researched areas. Meanwhile, due to the extreme diversity of assets and complexity of network structure, there is a limit to the level of accuracy which can be achieved by an analysis tool in the assessment of risk run by an information system. Also, the results of a risk assessment are most oftennot up-to-date due to the changing nature of security threats. By the time an evaluation and associated set of solutions are ready, the nature and level of vulnerabilities and threats have evolved and increased, making them obsolete. Accordingly, what is needed is a risk analysis tool capable of assessing threats and propagation of damage, at the same time as security solutions are being identified. To do that, the information system must be simplified, and intrusion data must be diagrammed using a modeling technique this paper, we propose a modeling technique information systems to enable security risk analysis, using SPICE and Petri-net, and conduct simulations of risk analysis on a number of case studies.

Factors that Affect the Intention of Password Security Behavior (패스워드 보안행위의도에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Recently, financial transactions and electronic commerce in cyberspace are being performed more quickly and conveniently, with the development in diverse types of fintech and biometric authentication. But user authentication using passwords still occupies a big proportion even in these new services. therefore, safe creation and management of passwords is fundamental and indispensable to protect personal information and asset. This study examined the patterns of password usage by conducting a survey and analyzed factors influencing password security behavior intentions using the heath belief model. As a result, perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, and perceived barriers significantly affected security behavior intentions, and especially, perceived severity had a moderating effect in other factors.

  • SCADA system is a computer system that monitors and controls the national infrastructure or industrial process including transportation facilities, water treatment and distribution, electrical power transmission and distribution, and gas pipelines. The SCADA system has been operated in a closed network, but it changes to open network as information and communication technology is developed rapidly. As the way of connecting with outside user extends, the possibility of exploitation of vulnerability of SCADA system gets high. The methodology to protect the possible huge damage caused by malicious user should be developed. In this paper, we proposed anomaly detection based intrusion detection methodology by estimating self-similarity of SCADA system.

  • Recently, cyberattacks on infrastructure have been continuously occurring with the starting of neutralizing the user authentication function of information systems. Accordingly, the vulnerabilities of system are increasing day by day, such as the increase in the vulnerabilities of the encryption system. In this paper, an alternative technique for the symmetric key algorithm has been developed in order to build the encryption algorithm that is not easy for beginners to understand and apply. Vigenere Cipher is a method of encrypting alphabetic text and it uses a simple form of polyalphabetic substitution. The encryption application system proposed in this study uses the simple form of polyalphabetic substitution method to present an application model that integrates the three steps of encryption table creation, encryption and decryption as a framework. The encryption of the original text is done using the Vigenère square or Vigenère table. When applying to the automatic generation of secret keys on the information system this model is expected that integrated authentication work, and analysis will be possible on target system. ubstitution alphabets[3].

  • As the digital environment becomes more complex and cyber attacks become more sophisticated, the importance of data protection is emerging. As various security threats such as data leakage, system intrusion, and authentication bypass increase, secure key management is emerging. Key Management System (KMS) manages the entire encryption key life cycle procedure and is used in various industries. There is a need for a key management system that considers requirements suitable for the environment of various industries including public and finance. The purpose of this paper is to derive the characteristics of the key management system for each industry by comparing and analyzing key management systems used in representative industries. As for the research method, information was collected through literature and technical document analysis and case analysis, and comparative analysis was conducted by industry sector. The results of this paper will be able to provide a practical guide when introducing or developing a key management system suitable for the industrial environment. The limitations are that the analyzed industrial field was insufficient and experimental verification was insufficient. Therefore, in future studies, we intend to conduct specific performance tests through experiments, including key management systems in various fields.

  • This study aims to analyze problems and deduce improvement plans for information security support policies for SMEs in Korea. To this end, an effective support policy necessary for reinforcing cyber safety nets to enhance the level of information security of domestic SMEs based on the analysis results by analyzing the status and problems of the previous research review and analysis, the current status of information security of SMEs and the information security support policies of major SMEs at home and abroad. I would like to suggest improvement measures. Reinforcement of awareness, legal basis, voluntary capacity building, joint response system, professional manpower and budget support, cyber security construction, untact era support, and regional strategic industry security internalization were suggested. This can be used as the government's information security support policy to raise the level of information security of SMEs in preparation for the post Covid19.

  • Recently, a wide variety of IoT environment is being created due to the rapid development of information and communication technology. And accordingly in a variety of network structures, a countless number of attack techniques and new types of vulnerabilities are producing a social disturbance. In May of 2018, Talos Intelligence, the Cisco threat intelligence team has newly discovered 'VPN-Filter', which constitutes a large-scale IoT-based botnet, is infecting consumer routers in over 54 countries around the world. In this paper, types of IoT-based botnets and the attack techniques utilizing botnet will be examined and the countermeasure technique through EXIF metadata removal method which is the cause of connection method of C & C Server will be proposed by examining the characteristics of attack vulnerabilities and attack scenarios of VPN-Filter.

Elliptic Curve Scalar Multiplication Resistant against Side Channel Attacks (부채널 공격에 안전한 타원곡선 스칼라 곱셈 알고리즘)

  • When cryptosystem designers implement devices that computing power or memory is limited such as smart cards, PDAs and so on, not only he/she has to be careful side channel attacks(SCA) but also the cryptographic algorithms within the device has to be efficient using small memory. For this purpose, countermeasures such as Moiler's method, Okeya-Takagi's one and overlapping window method, based on window method to prevent SCA were proposed. However, Moiler's method and Okeya-Talngi's one require additional cost to prevent other SCA such as DPA, Second-Order DPA, Address-DPA, and so on since they are immune to only SPA. Also, overlapping window method has a drawback that requires big memory. In this paper, we analyze existing countermeasures and propose an efficient and secure countermeasure that is immune to all existing SCA using advantages of each countermeasure. Moreover, the proposed countermeasure can enhance the efficiency using mixed coordinate systems.
