This study provides an overview of instruments for mobile contents start-up companies promotion that are currently available in Seoul. It includes a brief description of several different types of start-up companies and development processes for each of those companies so that it can analyze and figure out critical success factors for sustainable growth. In addition, the case studies of five mobile contents related companies are used to obtain more detailed insights into the development processes. The study focuses on mobile contents startups promotion used as a public policy for encouraging more productive and knowledge-intensive ventures, with the aim of upgrading management activities and creating more startups-friendly business environment. Consequently, the key target groups of the measures discussed in the study include mobile contents start-ups and start-ups that exploit new business opportunities in Seoul.
Self-employment rate is high in Korean labor market, while the income gap within self-employed is also high. Although, there are very few studies that addressed on the income inequality of self-employed. Thus, this study has measured the earnings inequality of self-employed by generalized entropy indices and decomposed inequality factor and trend. The empirical study is based on Korea Welfare Panel Study wave 1~4. The main result from this analysis is summarized in three points. Firstly, earnings inequality of self-employed is severely high and the earnings polarization within self-employed has become more serious in Korea. Secondly, this study provides the evidence that the main factor of earnings inequality of self-employed is the status of self-employment, education level, age group, workplace scale and industry. Thirdly, the contribution of relative changes in the incomes of the status of self-employment is the largest to the inequality trend. In terms of education level, age group and industry, the increase of inequality within group(pure effect) mainly attributes to the rise of earnings inequality of self-employed and the change effect of group composition contributes to deterioration of inequality.

In this paper, we investigate several variance estimators for pps systematic sampling. Unfortunately, there is no unbiased variance estimators for a systematic sample because systematic sampling can be regarded as a random selection of one cluster. This study provides guidance on which variance estimator may be more appropriate than others in several circumstances. We judge the efficiency of variance estimators for systematic sampling based on of their relative biases and relative mean square error. Also, we investigate variance estimation problems for two-stage systematic sampling applied for the Food Raw Material Consumption Survey and the Establishment Labor Force Survey simulation study, in order to consider the popular two-stage pps systematic sample design for establishment and household survey in Korea.

The e-learning industry status survey statistic provides information about the actual conditions of supply and demand of the e-learning industries. NIPA (National IT Industry Promotion Agency) has published the annual report of the survey results since 2004. Due to the 9th version of the KSIC (Korean standard industrial classification) revised in 2008, a refinement of the sampling design for the survey becomes necessary, especially that for the business demand sector. This article, based on the 9th revision of the KSIC, constructs a stratification of the target population used for the e-learning industry status survey on the business demand sector. Classification of strata in the business population is based on the industrial type and employment scale of business. Under the stratified population, we design a sampling scheme by using the power allocation method that enables us to satisfy a target coefficient of variation of each industrial stratum. In order to secure an accurate survey results based on the proposed sampling design, we consider the problem of calculating the design weights, derivation of parameter estimators, and formulas of their standard errors.
The purpose of this study were to identify customer expectation, perception and satisfaction of foodservice quality to analyze the influencing factors on foodservice quality and finally to provide basic information for the improvement of foodservice quality. Among expectation scores of food quality attributes, ‘hygiene of food(3.27)’received the highest score. In expectation scores of service quality attributes,‘hygiene of tableware(3.40)’was the most important. Satisfaction of ‘appropriate 1 portion size(-0.11)’was the highest scored, while‘dealing with complaints on meals(-0.70)’was the most dissatisfied one. Satisfaction was highly correlated with‘providing preferred menu(r = -0.62)’of food quality expectation. It was highly correlated with‘dealing with complaints on meals(r = -0.61)’of service quality expectation. Expectation and perception of foodservice as 2.25 and 2.90 out of 5, respectively, which suggests that foodservice needs to be improved. The attributes identified in Quadrant A, which was labelled‘focus here’and supposed to indicate the areas of high expectation but in low perception, was hygiene of carts holding used trays. The results of expectation and perception analysis indicated the areas that the attention of management should be given to improve quality of foodservice. The stepwize regression analysis suggested that foodservice expectation and perception explaints around 56.7% of the variation in general customer satisfaction.
We investigate wage differentials in Korea in the manufacturing industry, as well as factors affecting structural change in wage determination for the pre- and post-financial crisis regimes. We use the 1995 and 1999 data from the Survey Report on the Wage Structure (SRWS) from the Ministry of Labor. Principal components regression analysis is used to tackle multicollinearity. We employ factor analysis to reduce a set of variables to a smaller number, which contain observed and latent variables. Our empirical investigation provide evidences for changes in wages structure between 1995 and 1999. In 1995, the job quality factor is the most critical in the determination of wages, while in 1999, the industry attributes factor impacts greatly on the wages.
Based on the number of employees and sales of tourism establishments in Chungnam ares for the period from 2009 to 2013, this study analyzes the regional growth characteristic of tourism industry using dynamic shift-share analysis. The data used for this analysis are obtained from "The Census on Basic Characteristic of Tourism Establishments". This study decomposes characteristics of Chungnam Area tourism industrial structure into three components: national growth effect, industrial mix effect and regional share effect. The results help to well understand the development and the competitive situation of Chungnam area tourism industry.
This study is to examine the effects of high commitment HRM on service performance in the service industry, and to examine the mediating effect of the organizational internal innovation direction. Specifically, the direction of internal innovation consists of high-value-added HR and service and cost-reduction downsizing. We assumed that the high-value-added direction of HR and service will have a positive mediating effect. And assumed that cost-reduction downsizing direction has negative mediating effect. The data were collected from 2013 workplace panel survey(WPS) of the Korea Labor Institute(KLI). Among the 1,775 companies, 896 companies classified as wholesale and retail, transportation, professional scientific services, education services, health social services, financial services, and other services (such as information society support services) were extracted and used. In summary, high-commitment HRM has a positively significant effect on the direction of high value-added innovation of HR and services, and has a negatively significant effect on the cost-reduction downsizing direction. In addition, the direction of high value-added innovation of HR and service was positive effect on service performance, and cost-reduction downsizing innovation direction has a negative effect on service performance. And the direct effect of high commitment HRM on service performance has not been confirmed. However, we confirmed the positive mediating effect of high value-added innovation direction of HR and services, and confirmed that the negative mediating effect of cost-reduction downsizing. Therefore, it is confirmed that the two variables have a full mediating effect on the relationship between high commitment HRM and service performance.
