In order to achieve the purpose of this study, a survey was conducted targeting instruction librarians among librarians of group 'A' university across the country. In this study, we reviewed related literature and analyzed cases of operating professional learning communities in order to apply professional learning communities to librarianship education and training programs. Seven operational cases of professional learning communities, both domestic and foreign, within the field of librarianship and other fields were selected. The organizational structure, operational format and method, learning content, and support systems were analyzed. Through this analysis, the concept of a librarian learning community was defined, and implications for organizing and operating a librarian learning community were derived from the spontaneity and multi-layeredness of composition, diversity of learning community operation formats, and fieldality of learning content. As a support system for the smooth operation and activation of the librarian learning communities continuity of program operation by the operating organization, support and cooperation from affiliated organizations, education and training programs, platform establishment and operation, and dissemination and feedback of results for activation were presented.

  • In recent decades, research became more data-intensive in the fast-paced information environment. Researchers are facing new challenges in managing their research data due to the increasing volume of data-driven research and the policies of major funding agencies. Information professionals have begun to offer various data support services such as training, instruction, data curation, data management planning and data visualization. However, the emerging field of data librarians, including specific roles and competencies, has not been clearly established even though librarians are taking on new roles in data services. Therefore, there is a need to identify a set of competencies for data librarians in this growing field. The purpose of this study is to consider varying core competencies for data librarians. This exploratory study examines 95 online recruiting advertisements regarding data librarians posted between 2017 and 2021. This study finds core competencies for data librarians that include skills in technology, communication and interpersonal relationships, training/consulting, service, library management, metadata knowledge and knowledge of data curation. Specific core technology skills include knowledge of statistical software and computer programming. This study contributes to an understanding of core competencies for data librarians to help future information professionals prepare their competencies as data librarians and the instructors who develop and revise curriculum and course materials.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest practical plans to improve the school library consulting, especially in case of a teacher librarian is not assigned. As a result of analyses, consulting through methods of the School Library Assistant Group lacks spontaneity, expertise, council, and independence. Besides, each office of education operates it as a marketing. A main goal of school consulting is to foster independent problem- solving of individual schools. Accordingly, it is necessary to build an union management system, develop a standard staff manual, construct DLS based on-line consulting, and design educational training programs of consultants for its successful consulting.
