Information inquiries asked of the 'Librarian's Community' will reveal the real problems and interests of the university libraries. This paper intends to find out in what areas the university libraries have most problems and interests and how serious they are by analyzing the contents of inquires. To identify the issues, the works in the university libraries including acquisition, cataloging, reference services, library automation and Interlibrary loan were analyzed. This research also tries to identify if the issues need to be handled by the legal or solved by individual libraries.

This study, as primary research that examines the communication characteristics of the library and the perception of librarians in order to make public libraries a communication space, surveyed the perception of librarians in public libraries and made an attempt to devise activation measures for the communication spaces of the library. As a result, the communication characteristics of the library were derived to be locality, community spirit, and interactivity. In addition, the perception survey found that librarians have positive remarks about the communication spaces of the library. As it shows a high degree of awareness, the library should focus on ways to revitalize communication. First, the direction of communication must be set in order to fulfill library's new role in communication and exchange. Second, it is desirable for the library to free itself from being a quiet space and recreate it as a space for communication. Third, the library needs to exchange and connect with organizations, groups, and gatherings of the community. Fourth, it seems necessary for the library to provide support for the users' independent and voluntary communication and operation of the community.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the characteristics and limitations of community information services and to explore an activation strategies. Included in this study are as follows: (1) investigate what is an appropriate representative term through the history of terminology related to community information services, (2) examine how community information services are operated in the regional central libraries from the librarian's perspective, (3) suggest the directions of community information services. The data were collected literature studies and interview with 20 librarians in regional central libraries.

While small libraries have steadily increased in quantity, parts of qualitative growth such as lack of manpower and poor operation have been pointed out as problems. Accordingly, with the aim of establishing a foundation for linkage and cooperation between public libraries and small libraries, the small library itinerant librarians project has been promoted since 2010, and its scale has been continuously expanding. However, the lack of manpower and poor operation still remain tasks to be solved, and the poor treatment and job environment of itinerant librarians have not improved. In this context, this study aims to examine the problems of small libraries and job problems experienced by itinerant librarians and to find ways to improve the job environment of itinerant librarians based on this. Through the analysis of previous studies, small libraries and net companies were investigated, and in-depth interviews were conducted with participants related to itinerant librarians and small libraries. Through interview data analysis, a total of 17 meaning topics were extracted, including 'lack of work authority', 'lack of work manual', 'lack of communication, community', 'lack of integrated operating system', 'poor treatment and working environment', 'malicious user', and 'lack of belonging'. Based on this, four improvement measures were proposed, including the improvement of the job authority and standard regulations of itinerant librarians, the establishment of a community organization, job security guarantees, and job education reinforcement.

This study aims to set a cooperative network system for children's service in public libraries in Korea centering on the National Library for Children and Young Adults. The purpose of the study is to foster effective online and offline cooperation among public libraries through the National Library for Children and Young Adults and improve children's library service. Based on the survey results and face-to-face interviews the study suggests various ways to strengthen cooperative network system and public library council for children's service. First is to empower the council and to that end, to expand the cooperative network as well as to clearly set its role. Secondly it advises to capitalize from council's homepage service and adapt social-networking tools.

The idea behind Open Source Software(OSS) that permits users to study, change, and improve, is similar to the spirit of the library that has been developed through cooperations and resource sharing rather than competition. OSS is regarded as an alternative, low-cost technical innovation based on librarian's creative idea and standardized business process. Enthusiasm of the community is fundamental to successful installations and sustainable development. This study analyzed two community-based OSS ILS, namely KOHA and Next_L and suggested a future direction for domestic libraries. In the case of Korea, it is desirable for a library consortium to develop an OSS ILS for small- and medium-sized libraries. Most importantly, strong consensus about OSS ILS among the practiting librarians should be developed first.

Outsourcing, importing of publishing metadata and revitalizing copy cataloging have reduced importance of traditional cataloging. Request of interoperability between other communities and business integration of related system also have changed the meaning of library catalog. Furthermore, newly declared principle and rules are totally different to existing AACR, MARC, measures to cataloging education for next generation seems to be urgently needed. In this study, firstly put together a series of discussion about future cataloging and new role of cataloging librarian, and secondly basis on it, suggest direction of cataloging education course which divided two sectors. One is for students who are undergraduated, and another is for current cataloger at working level. In basic training, it should contain principle of knowledge organization and diverse resources and its relationship, encoding scheme and its practice. The other hand, in re-education training, it should include that re-recognition about new concept of bibliographic world, changing vocabulary and encoding scheme, furthermore metadata scheme about diverse resources which library have accepted, and its integration.

There is a recognition that traditional resource sharing methods such as interlibrary lending and document delivery are now inadequate to meet user needs in the increasingly networked environment. The current study identifies barriers to resource sharing and provides analysis of stakeholders engaged in resource sharing. Focused interviews with six professional librarians were also carried out to seek out deeper understanding of perceptions of barriers among librarians. Results show that the size of the library was not necessarily result in active resource sharing. There was a wide gap among librarians in terms of their attitudinal and organizational orientations towards resource sharing. Barriers specifically identified in the study include the narrowly defined notion among librarians of what constitutes research and the untested fear of swamping where there is an imbalance of collections. Overall, while resource sharing is recognized as an integral part of library services, it seriously lacks funding and staff. The study recommends earnest efforts to build librarians' community to invigorate resource sharing among libraries.

본 연구는 인터넷 망을 활용한 문헌정보학 전공자 채용공고를 대상으로, 마이닝기법을 적용하여 구직 실태의 특성을 파악하기 위해 수행되었다. 그 결과, 관종과 공고시기별로 유의한 차이가 나타났으며, 구직자들의 관심정도로 표현되는 공고 게시글의 조횟수 또한 고용형태에 따라 관종, 분기간 유의한 차이를 보였다. 사후검증결과, 구직자의 관심정도는 여타 관종보다 전문도서관과 대학도서관의 공고에 비슷한 추세를 보이며 두 관종의 업무와 고용조건을 유사하게 인식하는 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 결과는 도서관의 인적자원관리의 개선에 기여할 수 있는 기초자료로써 가치가 있으리라 판단된다.

Most public library websites provide unstructured cultural program data, which cannot be produced and utilized systematically as bibliographic information. It is not sufficiently used in existing library big data research or cases, and there is a risk of disappearing when the website is reorganized or the person in charge is changed. This study developed a data schema that can be used in conjunction with bibliographic data by collecting and analyzing cultural programs and community service data produced in an unstructured manner and proposed to share and utilize public library cultural programs and community service data, and establish a library big data platform that can serve as an information channel between librarians who are cultural program planners. Library program data posted on the library website can be integrated and managed through the platform, securing continuity of work, and systematically managing and preserving the specialized service history of individual libraries.
